Pins Mechanical is an establishment that has beer, cocktails, old school entertainment (video games such as Sega, Super Nintendo (NES), arcade games), foosball, pinball, duckpin, ping pong, bocce, and the occasional food truck and it's for kids, adults, and even the old folks. It's awesome for small/big groups, birthday parties, work events, WEDDINGS, or anything that requires fun + groups. It's ok to go by yourself, I do, and you can still have fun. Pins Mechanical (Pins/PM) is located in the heart of South End on Tremont Avenue next to Penrose, Common Market, and Bang Bang Burger. It's conveniently located off of the light rail at East/West Station so it's extremely accessible. When you first walk into the front door, you have to sign in with your phone number. The best thing about it is that IT IS 'FREE 99'. The duckpin ordering station is right there to the right along with the bar where you can order your libations. It's a mammoth venue in general and I am not going to go into too much detail, but they have giant beer pong outside, games ubiquitously placed throughout, and baroque bathrooms that are 'INSTAGRAMMABLE'. When you saunter up the double stairwell, you are greeted by a couple of benches, high-top tables, a fire pit, and bar. When you turn around, you are immersed in a pulchritudinous spectacle of Uptown Charlotte (at night when the city is LIT {in both ways}, it's a beaut). They also have giant Jenga so there's definitely plenty to do. The service is pretty good during the week, but on the weekends, it's so d@mn packed that it does falter a bit, but that's definitely understandable. All in all, I would assuredly recommend going to Pins Mechanical if you want to have merriment. Did I say they have some bangin' food trucks? NOT ANOTHER FOOD TRUCK and TACOS RICK-O are my fav. Anyway, proceed... Cheers MATE$! ...::: TrizzyO_o :::...

I hosted my husband’s 40th Birthday Bash at Pins Mechanical in Charlotte and it was a stellar experience from start to finish. When I requested info, I was contacted immediately by Monica, a Regional Events Supervisor. She helped me through the process of selectIMH a package for my groups of people to signing necessary docs seamlessly online. She checked in with me as the event approached. As the time for the party drew closer, I started working with the Events AGM, Cash. She was also fabulous to work with and both she and Monica answers all my questions. Cash called me to confirm and see if there was anything else I needed. She gave me instructions on where to go, what to do, and where to find her and our reserved area for the party. She was onsite working the whole time and had awesome servers and bartenders assuring our guests and guest of honor were taken care of. It was one of the best planning experiences I have had and I love to go to pins just for fun, but I recommend it for a party, as well. It’s kid-friendly during the day, and adults only in the evening. The games are fun, the whole facility is interactive, and the staff are on point! Oh, and the Smoke and Mirrors is my fave drink!

Sporting a plethora of [both free and paid games] games, an endless variety of drinks , a beautiful open rooftop concept, and a modern, chill, and vibrant atmosphere, Pins Mechanical Co. is a new up and coming trendy barcade that is nothing short of a fun place to be for your nights out in Charlotte. While children aren’t allow here after 8PM, this is a great place to gather a group of friends for some dope drinks, self care, and endless fun The spacious building contains a wide spectrum of nostalgic arcade games including but not limited to Mortal Combat, The Simpson’s, Mario Games, Skee Ball, etc - free of charge. Paid games included pinball, mechanical bowling (which charged by hour or 1/2 hour), etc. I didn’t have the chance to full explore the place but the amount of free games kept me engaged for the time I was present . If you weren’t tryna play games, there were plenty of TVs , couches, and tables to just drink and chill. In addition, multiple areas of the building served drinks and had a wide selection to choose from. The staff was nice . I will definitely be coming back to enjoy the games and chill vibes that Mechanical Pins Co. has to offer.

A very fun place to take your friends for fun and cool drinks. The drinks are always delicious and I like that they serve them in real glass as opposed to most bars with plastic cups. The drinks are a little bit more pricey than you would pay at other local bars, about $15 per drink. But you get what you pay for, the liquor seems to be better quality and the drinks are so much fun, a lot of them have candy in them or some thing seasonal. Some of the games are free and others like the bowling you pay for. The bowling usually has about a 45 to 1 hour wait but it is so much fun and worth the wait. The time will go by fast with a drink and playing the other games. In the summertime. the rooftop bar is beautiful and a lot of fun to hang out on. Pins mechanical is one of my favorite places to go when I’m going out! On the weekends, it is super busy, but to me that makes it even better because it’s like a big party. My one complaint would be the music, it is good music, think 2010-2020 party rap, but it is quite repetitive at times. If you’re there for more than an hour or two, you’ll hear a lot of the songs playing again. And when you come back, it’s the same playlist it was last time.

Came in with friends after being out all night without any problems with the same ID. Get here, ID was checked at door by bouncer, purse was searched and I was free to get in. Bouncers checked ID with flashlight, watermark there, and RealID is good to go. Get to bar to order a few drinks for myself and friends, bartender checked my ID before serving/making the drink, then cards my friend as well. Prior to handing me our drinks, she asked to check my ID again, I then hand it back to her again, she asks manager to double check because it is “flemsy”. I waited for her to bring my ID back, thinking she was going to double check with bouncer, I found her at cop car outside of bar with my ID being ran by the police. Unbelievable. How is my ID going to be checked at the door, twice at the bar and then again!? The cop had the audacity to ask “did I make a copy of the card?!” I work in healthcare, and don’t have time to be sitting at home making copies of ID cards. Racial profiling to me and it’s unacceptable, because no one else had this issue. 10/10 do not recommend. If I could give them zero stars, I would.

Worst customer service I've ever had. I tried to go in with a friend who forgot their ID and was turned away. I had mine. We walked back to the car but then my friend decided be wanted to walk in by himself and no one bat an eye. When I tried to go in after just to use the bathroom, a worker said I could use the other side but was denied entry on that other side as they were "closed" while my friend was still inside. I was told that the other worker "lied" about being able to use this bathroom. I'm from New England and I've never had this happen to me. Almost every place I've been to in New England allows you to use the bathroom especially when the place is still open. They're also consistent about checking IDs. This is ridiculous and you all should be ashamed. This happened at approximately 2 am. I will not be returning and will be sure to make sure friends and family and the readers who read my reviews avoid this type of place. Consistency is key.

Out of all the social spots in Charlotte to hang, this one might be my new favorite. It’s actually what I was hoping Abari would be when that place opened. This is perfectly nostalgic but modern and airy. Not sure how the arcade games are for free but I’m here for it. Took my 11 year old at noon on a sat and was able to secure a lane pretty quickly. We had never played duckpin but it was easy to pick up. I loved all the nods to our childhood. Didn’t try any drinks due to being on mom duty but they had a colorful and extensive list based on first glance. If you are looking for a fairly cheap place to take the kiddos, don’t overlook this one. While the pin balls are a $1 to play, all other games for free. The bowling was reasonably priced in my opinion. I will certainly be back with the bambino, for work social gatherings and girls nights.

This was my first time here. I came alone on a Sunday to play some pinball. Crowd was definitely 20 something's wearing yoga pants. Several people were roller skating (?), it was pretty busy for a Sunday evening. Pinball machines were a dollar and most of the arcade games were free. There were quite a few games. Pinball game were in pretty good condition, a few games needed some tweaks/minor repairs. Lots to do here, a few people had brought their dogs. The mini pin bowling was popular. Cool place. Lots of parking in the area. Beers were a bit pricey and had a nonsensical flat-rate per size pricing structure that certainly leans towards increasing revenue. There was a food truck outside called "Taste of New York" where I ordered the worst $13 philly cheese steak ever created.

This place was awesome. It was our first visit and the drinks were amazing! With one small warning* There’s lots of out door space for a nice day or evening. Fire pits. A small rooftop bar, there’s also food trucks outside. It was absolutely amazing. Didn’t get a chance to play any games since they’re first come first served. But it was still an awesome place to go. Will definitely return on a less busy night * (My only warning is that as of this review they don’t seem to be worried about capacity(Covid related). If you want a place that you can distance yourself at all(when busy), this is not it. It was packed when we went and there was no possible way to find space away from everyone else. Of course this was impacted by the fact that it was raining.)

This is my favorite place!! It was my 2nd time there and I decided to celebrate my birthday there....it was one of the best birthdays ever! The staff was so nice, friendly and accommodating! The drinks were delicious!!( I had a LOT of different ones because it was my birthday...lol) The games were awesome. There was so much to do for everyone. My friends with children came as well(earlier in the evening) and had a great time. The fire pits were perfect on a cool night. The view was fantastic from the roof and best of all, they are dog friendly, so I got to spend my birthday with my fur baby!! Awesome place...VERY Recommended!!( One thing tho...fix the skee ball machines..some didn't work right)

I do really like this place lots of fun. Beer selection is ok, cocktails as much as you want them to be good they are pretty cheaply put together. They seem to be out of a lot of things all the time which isn’t a good sign (if you can’t do the little things that’s a bad sign) and there is 1 woman waitress that seemingly is mad at life and should never have been allowed to be a bartender the way they make cocktails. I did have another dude that was was very responsive, friendly, and knowledgeable for everything so that’s a wash. But love the games, atmosphere, and vibe. Have not tried the food trucks but look good.

Out of all the social clubs in Charlotte. Pins Mechanical is the most expensive place I have ever been. This is a the last time I am returning. When you are paying 12$ for a beer you can get a block away for 6$ that is where I the draw the line. The bartenders seem under trained and unfamiliar with the price structure. So you'll pay twice as much for a brew that is listed on the menu for half the price. Stop advertising your drinks as the same price no matter what you get and this won't be a problem. It seems like a great place to play some games with friend. But in reality is it's not real bowling and there are other spots for arcade games.

We've been to the Pins in Columbus several times and are excited to have it in Charlotte. Our most recent visit was for a happy hour. We tried the Lisa Frank and the Hulk Hogan. Both were good. They're a little expensive for what they are, but they're definitely going for Instagramable with these. You really come here for the games, which we didn't have a chance to play on this visit. I've previously loved duck pin bowling and pinball. The environment is very open. It's a huge space. I think it's very well done compared to the other social houses in Charlotte. The service was great. We'll definitely be back soon to play some of the games!

Absolutely fantastic bar! There's so much stuff to do here it's unbelievable. Giant jenga, duckpin bowling, free skeeball, free arcade machines, a beautiful patio with cozy fireplaces, ping pong. If I were to try to list all the fun activities you could do here this review would be a five page essay. The drinks are fantastic as well. No food offered by the bar, but they often have food trucks, and there's plenty of great eats nearby too so that's not even an issue.

We had a ton of fun! The drinks are delicious and very creative. There is TONS to do - free arcade games, rooftop bar, pinball, duckpin bowling, and so much more. Get there early to get parking and avoid lines - this bar won’t be awkwardly dead like most before 11pm. We were hesitant about going to bars near Uptown with COVID beginning to spike again but Pins is very open (lots of garage doors and such) so there is tons of fresh air moving around. I will say that not a ton of people were wearing masks so we might wait to go back after the dusk has settled a little more but we had SO. MUCH. FUN!

  • Stacey Dean

The people who work here are incredibly rude. If you ask for two lanes for a group of people, they will tell you that you all have to share one lane since you know each other even though you pay PER PERSON. The staff here has no manners and does not know what customer service means. I mean, I guess it makes sense since it doesn’t affect their pay whether they are nice or not. I would not recommend, it is pretty boring anyways. Also the drinks are so small, expensive, and nasty, you will pay for a cup of ice. Spend your money somewhere else.

This place is AMAZING!!! My fiancé and I took a road trip this past summer and spent a few days in Charlotte. We had been to the one in Cincinnati, OH before but this location is 10x better! The space is HUGE, there are more way more games, and the service was on point!! Despite the place being really busy, we were still able to quickly get drinks and we really appreciated the servers walking around selling shots. Also, the food trucks in the parking lot were super clutch to stop at before Ubering home. We will definitely be visiting again the next time we are in town!

  • Brenna Skinnon

We really enjoyed the drinks and the games here. The duck pin bowling was fun. The atmosphere/vibes are there. The staff was on it and kind! They made my mother in law a deliciois NA beverage. My only qualm is it was swarming with unsupervised children. . .I know there family friendly until 8pm. . But it felt like Dave & Busters until that point. I think this place would be 10x better if it was adult only. Or at least 12 and up. Not everything in Charlotte needs to include children.

Super fun indoor/outdoor space with good drinks and fun games. It gives you a sense of nostalgia to a time that only existed in your imagination. The arcade/table games/rope swinging bar you didn’t know you needed. Security is nice and very attentive which made the night more comfortable. Definitely returning soon.

This place is hoppin!! The drinks we had (Steve Urkel, Hulk Hogan and more) were all so good! Have a fun cocktail list along with beer and liquor. It got so crowded at the bars and with no lines, sometimes you had to wait a while if you didn’t catch a bartenders eye. They have a great upstairs area and bar with a great view of the city. Usually a wait for the duck pin bowling. I felt slightly uncomfortable with how many people were in there not social distancing or wearing masks.

  • Mike Lin, MD

A wonderful place to grab a beer, spend some time w/ games and check out the views from the 2nd floor balcony. Pins is definitely a Charlotte staple and it has earned it's reputation as one of the best casual spots to hit up on any day at any time. The staff has always been kind and helpful, and there is always enough to do to keep yourself occupied. Whether you are trying to kill some time before a late dinner reservation, or stopping by while barhopping, it is worth your time.

This place was jumping! There were a couple of different social groups I was meeting up with on separate occasions, and I was able to bounce back and forth with ease! There were a couple of food trucks out there, great atmosphere. It was raining, but it didn't stop the drinks from flowing and the people from having a good time! Parking was easy to find, well lit area so safe walking to your car, definitely recommend, and most definitely coming back!

  • Kaleb Curl

This place is really cool. Definitely busy when I was there, but the workers still managed to find me and my group to come take out orders even though we were still just walking around. There are tons of activities to do here. Even managed to see someone famous while here! Also, the swings are a very nice touch. I'll happily come back.

The best arcade for adults! Not all the games are free but even the free ones were fun to play (old arcade games and jenga). The drinks were pretty good, and the service was awesome. MY FAVORITE BAR IN CHARLOTTE! that said I am a gamer and a large part of my excitement is due to the Nintendo 64’s, the pinball machines and other games available to play there (only the N64 are FTP) HOWEVER this bar does get quite busy around peak hours. They have a rooftop, fire pits, duck ball and more to appeal to everyone. Great spot all and all and personally it brings me so much happiness

First time experience of this kind of fun!! This is totally for group fun! Nothing serious and don't need formal Bowling strength and techniques. I did enjoy great fun and wonderful time. In case that people don't like Bowling, there are also classic arcades and pinball machines. This is really a place where you can have fun and relax!! The cost? It's inexpensive compared to Bowling!! Love it!!

  • Erika

Great vibes and better city views. Nice spacious place. Games are cheaply priced. Arcade games are FREE. Maybe a wait time for games. There was a food truck right out front. Drinks run about $15 and up. Was very shocked when I was told Don Julio 1942 was $50 a SHOT! Top shelf or not. A little insane to me. Overall enjoyed the establishment.

This is the second pins Mechanical & Co we've been to. There is one in where I live in Pittsburgh and this one in Charlotte is much smaller but it doesn't seem like it gets too busy, at least on Thursday night. Cocktails are as good too. It does get very loud when it gets busier making it hard to hold a conversation.

The concept of this place and next door is great. I love old school games and would have played and drank for longer but half the games were broken. Even the ones that appeared to be working had stuck buttons, broken joy sticks, etc. The yard games were impossible to play as well because there were missing bean bags and balls too

This was very crowded but understandable for to the unseasonably cold&rainy weather in May MDW! So many options for games including super Nintendo, speedball, Foosball, duck pin bowling, and many retro Arcade games! Have to get in line irl vs virtual via main desk depending on game if crowded. No food, just possibly food truck.

Tons of fun for bowling and drinks, but do NOT come here for pinball. As a huge pinball person, I was extremely disappointed because every single table I went to had pretty big issues. $1 per game and badly maintained games? Nope. Lots of arcade games to play instead though.

Great atmosphere and service, delicious and creative drinks. Wonderful place and I'll absolutely be back. Only thing that bugs me is the pinball machines are not on free play and are $1 a game. Cool bar and arcade spot. They have pin bowling lanes, but of course they are always pretty packed. The bar can get a bit too crowded even for getting a quick drink. Prices were a bit higher than usual. Mix drinks were about 12 dollars. Rooftop area was definitely a good vibe!

We hosted a great happy hour here. Really great place and super nice staff. A little bit of a bummer they don't serve any food (not even bar food), I was told there are "usually" good trucks outside. Either way, I recommend it.

The drinks are the best in Charlotte! It's always a great time here. We usually throw client appreciation events here and can't wait for the next one. The food trucks are always some of the best ones and there is plenty to do.

First experienced Pins Co yesterday. It was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend to anyone wanting a fun experience with family/friends in downtown Charlotte!

Great service. Nice atmosphere. Free arcade games - although many of the controllers are old so don't get your hopes up BUT it is still fun to try the games from the 80's and 90's.

Great experience. Marco takes great care with us, especially since my son is autistic and non-verbal. He loves the duck pin bowling. Will come back as frequently as we can.

Being my 3rd visit to Charlotte from Augusta GA. I am never disappointed! Good drinks, friendly staff and easy to get around. So much fun. Definitely a place to come back with family or friends.

Really cool bar and hangout spot! Has lots of space and little areas where you can chill with your own group or mingle with other people. Tons of arcade games to play and some of them are free!

Loved our time here. Love the 90s vibe to it. So many great arcade games, with good bowling lanes. The bar has great choices and we loved the giant beer pong! We will definitely come back

If I had designed a hangout when I was 13 this would've been it! Such a great space and drink selection is as wonderfully varied as the entertainment.
