Trying to get actual, accurate, medically sound care from this surgery is like a Kafka-esque nightmare. Since joining I have had two potentially serious medical issues, one of which has been ongoing for 8 weeks, and have never seen an actual doctor. I have been physically examined by someone who is not a doctor (totally inadequate signage meant I didn’t realise this until several weeks later) which has left me feeling incredibly uncomfortable, and a current condition which if left incorrectly treated is serious and potentially life altering, is being continuously fobbed off with passive aggressive text messages. I agree with an earlier post that their triage system relies on sending people to A&E (where you’re then treated like an imbecile for wasting emergency doctor’s time for something that should be managed by a GP) not actual patient care. I appreciate the staff are following protocols put in place by a privatised management system but the level of medical care on offer is totally inadequate. The stress and anxiety being a patient of the this practice has caused is unimaginable, and my unmanaged health condition is impacting my ability to work, socialise or exercise. There is absolutely no way a GP surgery in a more affluent area would be permitted to operate like this, in spite of current NHS pressures; friends and relatives do not have the same experiences as me. They talk about reducing GP waiting times to fraction of national standards but this is inaccurate. You never, ever see an actual GP - do they even exist at this surgery? My advice for anyone considering joining this surgery would be don’t. And if you do, don’t have the audacity of actually needing medical assistance. This is not what they provide, merely a patient communication management system that directs you to A&E. Will be writing to our local MP. I urge anyone else impacted by this surgery’s totally inadequate practises to do the same.

on may 30 i fell sick, made an appointment request online, waited for few hours then went to the medical centre, the lady at the desk says that i shall receive a call within 3 working days for an appointment, i asked if i could get any urgent treatment, she said none, said to go west croydon A&E but they wont help you. I was unable to speak, with high fever, i waited and its nearly 2 months now, i dont know which calander they follow that they cannot even calculate 3 days. however, in the end i consulted my indian doc online for treatment. at the moment i wonder despite being paid more than £100000 a year per staff what the hell are they doing, and why are they protesting for? i get paid nearly £30,000 a year and work all days without making any stupid reasons for off. the government should make them work with half salery and give me money so that i can fly india and get my treatment done, i dont know what the hell is going on with my hard earned paid taxes if I even cant get a cure at time from the medical centre? also its better to change the the staff completely and have anyone who can work a bit. they want higher pay for what? what are they doing at centre other than sitting there and enjoying our tax money beinfits. at the moment i feels its only a fraud centre. also, an environment is created that you have to blindly follow whatever they say or they'll call the cops on you for fake charges to get rid of you, in the name of forcefully being polite one cannot do anything but to accept the submission to the NHS and keep feeding them hard earned money.

I recently got a physiotherapy consultation at the Croydon branch about ten days after filling in a long online triaging questionnaire. The medic called me in around 25 minutes after the appointment time, and was effective. Today I went to book an appointment with the practice nurse about travel vaccinations and was told by the receptionist that they had stopped doing them during the Covid pandemic. I could go to the chemist next door and pay. But the Portland Medical website has a page called 'travel clinic', which advises one to do what I just attempted. The NHS website says vaccinations against typhoid, hepatitis A, cholera and the polio triple are free from NHS GP practices because it's cheaper than risking travellers bringing those diseases back to the UK. Both my fellow travellers have had hepatitis A, typhoid and tetanus triple jabs 'free' at their NHS GP practices recently. After returning to the surgery yesterday late afternoon (you can't just ring and talk to someone) the receptionist offered to go and speak to rhe duty doctor about my request. They refused to come and even speak to me for a moment, getting the receptionist to reiterate what she'd said before. She then recorded my complaint and passed it on to whoever there deals with such matters, saying I'd receive a message or call in response soon. Today a received a text again refusing to offer any travel service and again referring me to the chemist next door. The text quoted selectively from the NHS wesite (avoiding the crux of the issue) and cannot be replied to.

Do not register here - DOCTORS ARE RUDE! I booked an appointment for my 8 week old son but arrived 15mins late (due to traffic - still trying to adjust to having a newborn and getting out of the house) I was told the doctor couldn’t see me because it would affect his other appointments. I rebooked for the following day with the same doctor and was kept waiting for over an hour and it wasn’t until I enquired on two occasions the receptionist even bothered to find out why I had been waiting so long. When I managed to finally see the doctor (Dr TOMAR) I said I was unhappy that I had to wait for so long and his response was “I apologised, do you want him to be seen or not?! Or shall I cancel your appointment”. He also laughed and said “none of your concerns are actually medical you should be saying all of this to your health visitor not me”. “It’s down to your parenting”. He didn’t even advise me on what I can do to stop or relieve my sons discomfort due to what I believe is dry reflux. Ive been part of this surgery for over 15 year’s and I left feeling very upset and was literally holding back my tear. I will not be coming back here. This surgery used to be so good! The service has completely gone down hill! They even prescribed (by a junior doctor) me the wrong medicine when I was pregnant that could have given me a miscarriage, it was until I got to the chemist the pharmacist advised me not to take it. Completely unacceptable!

Signed up on October 2021. Really wish I didn’t. Never met my doctor, plus it is extremely hard to get an appointment and when you do, the call can happen at anytime of the day! One call took place before 9am, another didn’t happen till around late afternoon when I was told around 10am. Even just to get a flu jab seemed to be a tedious task, I had the NHS breathing down my neck with the constant reminder that I was a high risk patient! When I finally booked I had taken note of the time and date, In the end I ended up missing my flu jab with them (had the date wrong) no reminders no follow ups, nothing, but would happily send a text (although automated) almost every Friday in regards to out of hours GP services. My last cause for concern is when I was asked to do a blood test, not at the clinic as there were no blood tubes ‍♀️ Did this at the hospital, only to be told they had “lost” my results :/ very strange as I could see my results on the nhs app, I also told them this. They insisted I do them again. I decided not to… A little shambolic, after all the above I have not bothered to contact them again , even when I needed to. Now in January I have decided to go back to my old GP. I only left as this GP had such a high rating and was closer.

It’s sad to have to leave this review for this surgery, but I’m doing so in hope that the service it provides its patients improves. I’ve been yesterday for my baby’s check as he having cough for about 1 month. I’ve been served by a medical student and I asked for doctor. The appointment started with check and it was running by medical student. At the end of the appointment “the doctor” came he have been sitting in the front of me not even looked at my baby , his hands have been on the pocket like we been on the same table at the coffee shop. He started talking about my baby as he’s fine and he doesn’t have anything. My baby coughing for about 1 month and I asked for a syrup or something at least because he can’t sleep during the night. He suggested me to do not give him anything because now he develops immune system. Well, the night after he starts having high fever and what’s that mean bronchitis??? Definitely not happy at all with the service and I’m seriously thinking to move from this gp as the last 2 times we been served by medical student and the answer was always “he’s fine,he’s ok” but he’s not .

It’s sad to have to leave this review for this surgery, but I’m doing so in hope that the service it provides its patients improves. It doesn’t relate to the doctors themselves, but concerns the ‘gate keepers’. The ones that call themselves receptionists. They seem to forget they are there to be the ‘positive’ go between the busy doctors and the sick patients. When my elderly mum walked into the surgery to ask to see a doctor she was told a firm NO!! No explanation, no ‘are you ok’, ‘let me see if anyone can see you anytime soon’. Just NO!! That’s not first time. Numerous times on the phone she has tried to get hospital results and told to call them. When asked which dept. should she ask for, she was met with ‘I don’t know’. This was even though the hospital told her to ask her doctor for the results. We all know doctors are under pressure, but receptionists need to have compassion to patients too, especially the elderly and vulnerable and if doctors are busy, be able to explain this and not make them feel they are being a nuisance. Do better

I joined this practice in 2021 and have never been able to see a doctor here. They use a triage system via an online app, then you might get a text from the doctor and if you are lucky the doctor might even phone you. I have no idea how you can be referred to get X-rays and bloods without ever seeing a patient. Their system is just a way of fobbing patients off to the app, to hospital for tests, to 111, to A&E, basically anything other than one of their doctors. This way of treating people wastes so much of the NHS’ resources. Sad thing is that the practice waiting area is always empty. I am beginning to wonder if there are any doctors there. To top things off the receptionist are rude. I raised a complaint and surprise, surprise I got an inadequate text when I specifically stated that I wanted a call and you cannot text back. I would like to know how to take my complaint future but it’s impossible to know when the practice does not operate with humans.

We were registered with the Portland Medical Centre for over 40 years. The doctors were all dedicated and really cared for the community they served. Sadly most of the original Doctors have retired. My wife, a retired teacher with 40 years teaching Croydon school children, had a traumatic experience with a heart condition and when she was discharged from hospital she asked to see her GP face to face for reassurance and to clarify aspects of her condition, treatment and her ongoing health. The doctor summarily dismissed her request as there was no 'clinical need'! This was very distressing for my wife and was made even worse by a subsequent discussion with their 'Business Manager'? Needless to say we have now changed doctors to a practice that does provide face to face appointments with actual doctors rather than Clinician.

I really like how digital this surgery is. It’s very convenient being able to see everything online and make appointments or ask questions through the website. It saves time and means that I don’t have to plan my day around appointments for things that don’t really need to be seen in person. This is great for mental health appointments for example. However, I don’t feel like all the staff are particularly well versed in mental health disorders or neurological conditions. My husband is diagnosed autistic, yet he was refused mental health referrals through the surgery, with no good reason. He was then “diagnosed” with anxiety, something he was already diagnosed with. It shows that the dr had not read his notes and didn’t listen to what treatment he actually needed. This is a massive issue.

As a person suffering with several chronic health conditions, I have contact with the practice quite regularly. The courteous reception staff are always very helpful and willing to assist, they do everything to be able to deal with my queries quickly and professionally. The newly improved website is very efficient and easy to navigate. The updated online systems have proved quite useful as I am able to do anything from chat with a receptionist or physician via text message or email whilst on the go. Thank you for these new and improved systems and I hope that we continue to see improvements in the future. Thank you to all staff, from management, Doctors, Nurses, reception and cleaning staff. You all are doing a great job and providing a great service. Thank you.

  • Flo O'Mahony

I am so impressed by this GP surgery. The online system makes sense and works, making appointment booking extremely accessible, especially for people with access needs/ needing to get in touch at unusual times. The response times are very fast - where I've requested phone consultation, I've usually had a call within an hour. I have witnessed extreme sensitivity from the nursing team in how they respond to trauma. And the doctors who call using the telephone service are usually extremely patient led, just had a call with a brilliant doctor who told me more than once to let him know if I felt the treatment he suggested wasn't right, and took time to answer my questions compassionately. Such a world of a difference from my last GP, on all counts.

  • Dani dd

I have just registered and it was quick and simple. However, I don’t understand how the appointment booking works been trying book an appointment it says I will get a call back and haven’t had one as of yet. I thought it will be straight forward to go online see availability slots, & book appt. But it just ask you what days you are available. When I call I can’t speak to no one, so I’m finding it quite difficult. I received a call back from the manager explaining how it all works which really helped me. As I’m quite new to all of this but, this shows how keen they are to improve and happy to get feedback. Thank you! Hence why I changed my rating because they dealt with my response straight away. Thank you!

  • Barbara Reynolds

Generally good with a quick response, such as within 50mins of reporting damage to my previously broken shoulder. Excellent response from 2 of the pharmacists to appropriately prescribe medication, but one failed to adequately follow through her proposed changes. The nurse has good people skills and responds well to sorting out queries. The online system used to triage new problems is good, though it has limitations, meaning that sometimes the patient needs to be inaccurate in reporting symptoms. However as a patient I sometimes find it difficult being unable to visualise the person with whom I speaking by telephone and there is 1 receptionist who needs to ensure that the information she gives is correct.

I would like to say a HUGE thank you to all the team at Portland Medical Practice. Since the new practice manager took over, the surgery has completely turned around! My family & I experienced quite a few problems with the reception team a couple of years ago but this has definitely changed! I am my mother’s carer & have had a lot of issues with mum this year. I have made so many phone calls and I have to say all of the team at the surgery have been amazing ! They have all gone above & beyond! It has been a challenging year for all of us & I can’t imagine the stress that all Doctors surgeries are under. Thank you so much for your outstanding service! Each & every member of staff deserves a medal

  • nadine barrett

The staff are always extremely lovely, gentle and welcoming. I find that the team are forever professional and have never lacked care whenever I have had to visit the surgery. Dr Jackson, Dr Sumana, Dr Rodgers and Dr Rehman are very skilled and always caring, I often feel anxious and these doctors always make me feel at ease. The receptionists are accommodating. Sharon and Eman are also wonderful ladies, always willing to listen and to help. I must also thank the nurse (Jamaican lady) who carried out my daughters immunisations, she was calm, kept the room clean and tidy and approached the whole process with so much care. Portland Medical Centre are a great team of medical professionals

I Phoned This Afternoon To Request Repeat Medication I Was Informed By The Receptionist That They No Longer Take Repeat Medication Over The Phone The Reason Being Is That The Receptionist Might Spell The Request Of The Requested Medication Wrong I Am Not Able To Request Medication On Line Myself Due To The Fact That I Myself Suffer With Dyslexia I Was Informed By The Receptionist That I Could Take The Request In To The Surgery Or Take It To The Chemist I Have Done This In The Past And Still Have Had Issues Getting The Medication So Now Your Not Able To Get A Repeat Prescription Over The Phone Can Not See A Doctor When You Wish To See One !!!

  • Chia Marie

I used to have great service from this GP but as of late the secretary's are not only rude and hang up the phone on you but the doctors are not following through with their request. I was informed after being discharged from the mental health team that my GP will be looking after me but instead they have left me in the dark. No matter how many times I have tried to reach out and contact them I am basically sent a text message stating that calling me is not a priority. It is a shame as this was my favourite GP and now they make me feel irrelevant and suicidal. I dont even write reviews but I thought my latest experience should be shared.

  • Aaron edwards

I have been going to this practice for over 5 years and 95% of the time i have had perfect treatment. Dr Iris Rogers especially was very helpful with my concerns. Edit: The doctorlink website is a really really bad idea it asks a lot of redundant questions and it took me almost 20 mins to complete then after everything told me to call the surgery to book an appointment! What a big waste of time. One of the questions asked me to measure my own heartbeat and all i had was a rash!! Kind of ridiculous if you ask me. Just seems like a way to reduce human staff and interaction, and robotise the service. Thank you and God bless Aaron Edwards

  • syed ali

I wasn’t very impressed with the the team of this establishment lately Although I am with the the surgery more than thirty years . It was a good surgery when my family joined about 30 years ago For the last five years my personal experience with the establishment isn’t a good ones. But last week I had to book an appointmen for emergency the receptionist responded very quickly and specifically the young Dr David’s responded professionally Wish him well And hope surgery will improve their service’s for all the patients and bring back our faith. I am pleased for the action you have taken Thanks

  • Zoe Gregory

A fantastic GP practice who even in these times when GPS are stretched to the limit. This practice still goes above and beyond to meet patients needs with kindness, dignity & care. I have been a patient here over 30 yrs and have experienced nothing but excellent care from the point of contact with the reception team then the care from the GPS & Nurses. Dr Topham always goes above and beyond to provide consistent outstanding care ( routine or referral or even emotional support ) I feel incredibly lucky to be a patient here and I’m very grateful to the whole team at Portland Rd Practice !!

  • Mary W

Fantastic surgery! My registration was completed less than 48 hours super efficient. Online booking system is a great tool this surgery provides, I was able to triage myself - had a telephone consultation with a GP - was offered a face-face appointment for the following day! Safe to say changing my GP’s was the best decision I made. All my concerns and symptoms were addressed appropriately. I would like to give extra gratitude to Joanna Patient Advisor for checking me in today and helping with my prescription and paperwork, service with a smile really goes a long way. Thank you.

  • Elizabeth Duker

Thank you so much Sarah for helping me with my repeat prescription. I had called two previous times and spoken to two different receptionists with the same problem. They didn't take the time to read my notes to see what the problem was so they could sort it out for me. Instead they gave me wrong information so they could get me off the phone! Sarah on the other hand took her time and read through my notes and saw what the problem was. She was able to get my prescription done and it was delivered to me a few hours later. Thank you again Sarah. The surgery is excellent as a whole.

  • lek pergjergji

I was placed on yellow card by Dr Tomar over his ego or misjudgment or maybe he was having a bad day and asked me change the GP. Then they released they wrong and they lift the decision. But not apologise or anything like that, i don’t care either! but when they feelings are hurt they can quickly make decisions and put patients on warnings and yellow cards, but when the patients are hurt or upset they don’t exist, very hostile Gp making wrong decisions on patients like gangster! Unprofessional because our life’s depends on those Doctors and to act like! Is shocking

  • Chanchal Banerjee

I am registered with Portland medical since 1988.During the pandemic I went to the surgery for a blood test and like to point out that appointment times should be met promptly so that social distancing is maintained in the sitting area and patients are not kept waiting outside as a result of suitable space in the reception area. I noted the Receptionist was doing a very good job in managing things but was inconvenienced as a result of the delay by clinical staff for whatever reasons it might be. Two metre space was not there in the sitting area at times.

  • grazyna mostrag

I want to thank Dr. Iris Rogers very much. The best doctor I've ever met. She does the job with a good conscience. I am very happy that I found this doctor. The hospital delayed my epidural injection for another 3 months, and I have a cracked disc since January, even being in the hospital for a few days, they didn't help me as they should, they just sent me home. The doctor's Iris Rogers determination forced the hospital to undergo surgery much earlier. I will be after the treatment in just 2 weeks, not 3 month more like they planed. Thank you.

  • sophie roberts

Cannot make an appointment for my anxious daughter to see a doctor, you have to go through an app which takes 10 minutes and is distressing when one is unwell and anxious. And then no one called. If they did they didn't leave a voicemail. The receptionist was rude and thought she had hung up and begun talking to the other receptionists about my call "she reckons shes been trying to get seen for a year, for depression and anxiety, laugh, come on" I am taking my complaints to the ombudsman and finding a new surgery.

  • Charlotte MD

Portland medical have a more ‘modern’ system which maybe wouldn’t work for everyone but has been great for me. Answer some questions online about your issue and you will get a response same day with advice, prescription or appointment. Having waited on hold regularly for 40 mins or more, just to get a doctors appointment at previous doctors, I much prefer the system at Portland medical and it has saved me a lot of time and stress! Have also met a few doctors now and all have been very warm, patient and kind.

  • Steph Iwelia

I don't find them helpful I asked the GP if I can get help to stop smoking but they saying they do not do that but it all over in the wall saying asking for help. I also asked if I can't get the patch they sending me a message they do not do that but the NHS say that ask your GP I don't find them helpful they don't have time for people. My daughter had a flu vaccination the lady was doing it she didn't explain much someone came to open the door as we wear there we left she didn't even see us it just bad.

  • Soterys Papaioannou

Generally a good GP practice, always trying to be innovative with improvements for patient care and convenience. The use of Doctorlink is a nice addition to order repeat prescriptions, verify medical concerns but the availability of online appointments is lacking. If they could find an online booking system that easy to book or cancel then that would be great or have a number of appointments say 20 that can only be booked first thing in the morning on the day that a person needs to see a Doctor.

  • Keith Block

I like the on-line service. It took a while to get used to telling a computer what I would have previously told a human being! It's frustrating at times, though, because you have to wait for office opening times before you put in the simplest of requests... But I must say that over the years I have used Portland Medical Centre's services I have come across nothing but professionalism of the highest order and friendly but appropriately ... detached members of staff. That includes all of them.

  • Simon Clemenson

Once I was given an urgent appointment the same day. The doctor was very professional and put me at ease. Now I have had an ongoing issue for over a year. I have received communication with 10 different people via text in that time. When I ended up at A&E they told me I should have contacted the doctors. Every time I get an email for a prescription. Medication isn't working. It's been a year and I'm still waiting for the matter to be resolved. I'm now waiting for a hospital appointment.

  • Sam Sally

Every member of staff I’ve seen or been in contact with at the surgery has been brilliant, I’ve recently seen both doctors, nurses and the paramedic. All have been very professional, warm and take the time to answer any medical queries. They have an online consultation service which is really efficient and, after triage, is dealt with really quickly. I’m really glad I joined such a nice surgery after moving house. I’d highly recommend Portland medical centre.

  • Lesley Ncheke

As not been able to attend surgery for personal visits due to COVID-19 restrictions the telephone consultations have been excellent. Call backs have been on the same day as agreed, it was very easy to upload a photo of injury when needed, the service has been excellent. Also from the receptionist staff, they have been so helpful and explained everything needed very clearly. It's been such a positive experience dealing with a patient who is 87 years old

  • Kirsty Gummer

Every experience of needing to speak to a doctor or nurse at the Portland Medical Centre has been really positive. The nursing staff especially I think are wonderful, but more recently the Doctors have been really supportive and proactive in areas of my health. I can see how Doctor Link can be confusing and I don't think it's the most straightforward experience - but using the chat on the website for me is easy and I get an appointment straight away.

  • Brian Fitzgerald

My family joined the practice in 1994 we found the Doctors and staff to be professional and attentive up until the new management took over . Unfortunately I now find the practice quite difficult to work with at times and when patients are lucky enough to reach 70 y old they are forced to pay £120 for a fitness to drive letter is this practice now private ? As one Doctor told me that they have over 40.000 patients I wonder what’s the company name.

  • Joanna Jackson-Brown

Definitely some unsavoury activities going on in this surgery. Can't see a GP here for love or money. A lot of 5 star 1 time only reviewers... please believe me this practice is actively avoiding seeing patients and I have already reported them to the CQC. Sat in the waiting area for over an hour whilst they flagged up the telephone patients as patients that they are pretending to see face to face. This place needs a formal investigation. Avoid

  • Rhea Micallef-Gavin

Dr Sumana is a wonderful doctor and made me feel super reassured, comfortable and confident that I was in the best care. I have moved about a lot in london and this is by far the best GP practise I have been to. The staff are helpful, kind, well informed and efficient. Their online services are also very up to date and well connected to their system, I had received a call after 20 mins of filling in a form! Nothing but praise for this practise

  • Sue Foster

I have a number of health problems and have always had a positive experience at the surgery. There may be a wait on the phone and using the website can be a faff sometimes as it's generic, it has to be, but I have always been given a timely appointment or a had a call back to discuss my concerns. The GPs and nurses are knowledgeable, reception staff accommodating and the triage system works. What more do you need from a medical facility?

  • Charlene Rogers

I have attended this Doctor surgery for over 20yrs. At least 95% of the time the service is great. My most recent appointment was excellent Dr Rogers listened to me asked all the right questions was patient and ensured I was seen physically by a Dr. The lovely Dr I saw was equally as good however I can’t remember his name. Since covid getting an appointment has been a seamless process using the chat function. Keep up the good work.

  • Jen E

Portland medical practice is always willing to go the extra mile. The reception team are all amazing, especially Sarah she is experienced, always smiling, kind and tolerant. She supports the new staff with patience, she is a great mentor and thats from watching her from a distance , The Dr's are very kind, always listen, supportive and check in with you during difficult times. Portland team thank you and many well done claps

  • Daniela Pontes

Has to be the worst GP experience I’ve had all Doctors completely unprofessional I had to chase for test results for at least 1 month before I was given anything. Receptionist does not know what she’s doing I asked to be given my results on paper she said there was nothing on system for me- I had to bring out confirmation of these for her to actually have a look. Doctors are not empathetic at all. Worst GP experience.

  • Mary

I've been with this practice for almost 30 years, cannot say enough about the hard working staff, their kindness and respect for everyone and eachother. The practice uses innovative ideas to help people and is a truly 21st century health care team and organisation. My family and I feel very lucky to have Portland Medical as our primary care practice and am grateful for all they do for the community, thank you!

  • Phillip Du Plooy

Personally I have had a very bad interaction with this sergery, you need to make apointments vi an online portal, they do not followup and make sure your simptoms have been addressed and they triage you and in my case I never got to see the Dr, I then went to AE and again they said the surgery should help but again back to not being able to see a DR, I personally do not recomment this surgery to anyone

  • dior

Don't waste your time and sign up to this GP. Absolutely awful service as a GP. I have been requesting an appointment for days for serious health issues, I was told once I brought in all of my notes I would finally have it booked. The lied, they keep on ignoring the request and doing what they want to do. Im going to switch GP's as soon as I can. I have never experienced a GP practice this terrible.

  • Rachel Martinez

I had a medication follow up call with the medical centre assigned pharmacist and found that the persons information and care of my needs was excellent and very reassuring. The service this system provided was greatly appreciated, and made me feel comfortable to discuss any issues. In these difficult times I wish to thank the Portland medical group team for being supportive and professional,

  • Katia Muscara

It takes anyone time to win the unfamiliarity and reservations of accessing remote healthcare. Once I managed to navigate the website, the experience with my GP was professional, pleasant and effective. I was able to book an appointment promptly and to have a telephone consultation. I felt my GP listened and my concerns were addressed. Highly recommend the use of the Portland Medical centre

  • Ebenezer Natalino Danquah

Awful service, very slow in reply and lack of communication is their forte. Had to change GP (literally down the road) due to poor service, doctors forgetting to call back, or follow up their patient. New GP, Selhurst medical centre on point with 5/5 service. Could get all my test booked within a week meanwhile Portland waiting time to book an appointment is between 2-3months.

  • Jody Bayes

PMC have always been super friendly and supportive. The reception staff have been great and helpful. I used to attend appts with my Nan, who had dementia and they were all fantastic with her and so understanding. I will be forever grateful. I've been a patient at this practice since I was a child and have never had a bad experience. The doctors and staff have been fab.

I have registered with Portland Medical Centre for about a year. I totally recommend it with following points: - great digital booking/prescription services available - Doctors/Nurses I met/talked are all professional and friendly I personally appreciate Dr Paddy Jackson. She is always patiently listening to my need and explaining the situation. Thank you very much.

  • Jaimini Padhiar

Had issues with a prescription and the reception assistant was amazing even though the surgery was full and busy. Super professional, understanding and pro-active to resolve the issue. Doctors were also busy but still updated my prescription. The doctor giving me my covid booster was very reassuring and thorough looking at my records and ensuring I was well.

Haven't ever been to a medical practice this bad. You will never be able to see the face of the doctor here. My son had strep A bit they never bothered to do any tests. They just kept sending us back with paracetamol. Spent £700 to get treatment at private pediatrician. For referral to private doctor they're least helpful and charge £ 30 ! Stay away.

  • Sarah Jane Cahill

The attention and care my children and I have received at this drs surgery has been exceptional. I cannot speak highly enough about our many interactions with the drs here. One dr in particular has gone above and beyond each time we have needed help and support. I have complete confidence in the advice offered, and would recommend without hesitation.

  • David Denteh

Over the years the system on how to book GP appointments has changed. I personally don't like it, but I know due to Doctors workloads they're unable to use the old system where most of your appointments are face to face. The reception staffs have been good to me. They always treat me with respect, kindness and call me Whenever they promise to do so.

  • Encarni Ruiz

I had a wound that needed to be taken care off and I was a bit desperate as it is getting close to Christmas and my GP was not able to help me. Dr Tomar went above and beyond to get me a last minute appointment with nurse Sabine who was beyond helpful and now I can have a relaxing Christmas all thanks to Portland Medical. I would highly recommend

  • Chris Gander

Arrived on time and was efficiently signed in at reception. Waited just a few moments before being called in for my vaccination. Was treated courteously and efficiently. Thank you. Was surprised to see a number of people in the waiting area with masks under their chin. If they have a mask I feel they should be challenged to wear them correctly.

  • Antoinette Everest

This time i was listened to. She positively answered my questiond and i felt reassured and confident in the staff that i was speaking to. Things has improved a lot compared to previous staff members who most times sounded upset and fed up before even you open your mouth to ask a question. May this continue and my sincere gratitude to her.

  • Stephanie Mrozinski

I contacted to surgery to alert them I was a keyworker and within 72 hours I had the first jab. Thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication during this insane year. The chat box function to communicate with the admin team is brilliant and such an easy way to schedule consultations and fill repeat prescriptions for the family.

  • Leslie Griffiths

Welcoming atmosphere, reasonably on time, invariably good treatment from a wide variety of nurses, good and common sense advice, splendid co-ordination between the different places (hospital A&E, Same Day Centre, Tissue Clinic and Portland GP practice) that have been treating me. One day, who knows?, I may even meet one of the doctors!

  • Alan Butler

I had a good experience attending the surgery this morning for my flu jab. There were a lot of patients there but I only had to wait 10 minutes which was very good. Sylvia who administered my injection explained clearly what was in the injection and on completion she then she checked my pulse. She was very efficient and put me at ease.

  • Z Ahmed

If you have children don't register here I signed my new baby the receptionist got flustered and messed up her details. Also everything is online and still you have to wait this is now the third time I've asked the surgery for help and have waited MORE THAN 24 HRS regarding my baby that isn't even 4 months old, even with a head enquiry

  • Monika Guzik

So far I had very pleasant experience with Portland Medical clinic. The reception staff is really helpful, always smiling and polite. The doctors listen to their patient and based on the needs taking care of the problems with care and knowledge. I highly recommend that clinic to anyone who is looking for professional help and care.

  • Marvel Timbo

My experience with Dr. Sumana Pasumathy was amazing. Everything was well explained. I never was made to feel that caring for me was not a burden. She has genuine care and concern for her patients. I saw her the other day and she referred me to the hospital. I am very happy with the prompt and efficient service I received.

  • Hannah Hodgkinson

Best practice one can hope for. Dr Topham extremely good GP, kind and always there to help. Staff are always kind and helpful. Everyone who answers is actually helping to go go forward. Needed forms managed so excellently by Sonia. Always with good intentions and ability. Thank you everyone in Portland Medical Centre!

  • Robert Mansfield

I never have any negative comments to make about the Practice. All the staff from the receptionists, nurses and doctors who I have had dealings with, are friendly and happy to deal with any questions I have concerning my current condition. Perhaps it may have something to do with the fact, that I am easy to deal with.

  • Jane Sparks

Excellent service from GP at Portland Medical Centre. Prompt, courteous and very helpful. I used the link on website to submit my query and they responded promptly once opened . Sending me text with link to submit my answers to GP questions and photos of area too. This works so well, saves times and is very efficient!

  • Anittha Charee

Awful! Awful! The way this practise runs is so flawed. Which is a shame because some of the doctors that I've seen have been great. Can’t seems to get any appointment. Called at 7:59. Waited 40 minutes on the line after “being no.1 on the queue” then the line cuts off!!! Tried to call back their phone is off!!

  • Martin Deal

I had a flu jab - the booking was made via text message - confirmed by email. The process was fast and efficient - It took less than 5 minutes from entering the centre to completion. This is certainly the way to go in the future when dealing with routine procedures like this. Well done & Thank you. Martin Deal

  • Kate Prior

This practice has always been excellent for our family. We have been with them for 13 years. Mostly friendly doctors who take their time to listen. Only downside is sometimes it’s a long wait at the surgery waiting to see the doctor but some patients will take longer than others. That can’t be helped.

  • Darren peters

Would like to thank the GP surgery for still helping my grandmother even though she has been outside the catchment area. The Paramedic Mr Fleming has been exceptional and the reason why my grandmother does not want to leave the GP and the receptionists have all been very patient and helpful. Thanks

  • Abishana Sabaratnam

Dr Tomar is the one who is overlooking all my medical records and he responds quickly to any issues and gets them sorted out in a day . The process to register as a new patient at Portland medical centre was so quick and efficient , took me literally 5 mins to complete the whole process :)

  • Dani Marangoni

I received a text to remind me to book an appointment. Appointment and availability on a Saturday, great. Booking very quick & straightforward. At the surgery, the receptionist was friendly and I waited not longer than 10 minutes to be called in..that's how it's supposed to be! Thank you.

  • W Philip

Dreadful …tried to book an appointment online like they said and all you get is a GP guessing my symptoms I then called to book an appointment and again I get a text telling me my symptoms ? And after all of that I still didn’t get an appointment or speak to a GP what a wast of time ….

  • Alex M

Very efficient surgery I ask for an appointment today, and I'd get a telephone appointment tomorrow! Most things can be dealt with on the phone now due to covid so it is very efficient. All the doctors are friendly, and genuinely caring. I will miss this surgery now I have moved house.

  • Bianca Nimmo

Baby booked in for immunisations. Nurse Monique explained everything really clearly, was extremely caring and gentle with the baby and responsive to my needs and questions. It makes a huge difference having someone smiley and friendly at an appointment like this. Big thank you.

  • Sandy Banks

The screen that notifies you to go to dr room needs some audio. A bleep or something otherwise if you’re not looking at it you miss your name and it’s only displayed for a few seconds. GPS came to waiting room 3 times to call people. Not the most efficient use of their time

  • John Fletcher

I have nothing by the greatest commendation for the medical staff for their professionalism and their customer service. But in the past, I’ve had a bad experience with reception staff providing extremely poor customer service. due to the manner in which I was spoken to.

  • ian johnstone

Received a text offering me the COVID booster, was able to have it the following day. On arrival staff were very friendly and helpful. Was also offered the flu jab at the same! Very efficient. Bonus was they were selling cakes for MacMillan Cancer coffee day, delicious!

  • Matthew H

They could do better by offering more face to face appointments rather than text messaging. There is no opportunity to ask the Dr any questions or advice. To any new patients looking to join this surgery; I would advise joining another neighbourhood surgery instead.

  • Morphy

Just upsetting how unless you pester them relentlessly by calling and writing multiple times none of the professionals will do much or even suggest on what to do. Almost impossible to get an appointment. 111 has been more of help. 111, however, is not my GP.

  • Tracyloulou25 Taylor

They've helped me out over the last year and are always friendly. Very patient with my son specially when it come to his vacation lol. The nurse went beyond and above to make him calm and happy. Which I'm grateful for. Thank you very much for everything.

  • Nathan Danquah

Absolutely poor service, doctor keep failing to call back and do as they promised. Over the phone Reception service: 3/5 feels like to speak to a robot (same answer- sorry about that) Nurses: 4/5 great Doctors: 1/5 response time: 0/5 (cannot be scored)

  • Karen Gill

Certain GPs appear not to understand what duty of care means. Prescription given without examination. Appointments are mainly over the phone. On a number of occasions, GPs have refused to examine me, and I have ended up in A&E. A&E is now my doctor?

  • Muriel Butler

It was a good experience. Sylvia was very professional and explained who she was and about the flu jab and what to do if there were any side effects that may occur. She also listened to my. Pulse to check rhythm was all ok. All went well. Thank you.

  • G Walters

A team of compassionate doctors as well as support staff. A phone call from Dr Rogers is always reassuring. Her pleasant disposition and the way conducts her affairs with such a quiet consistency is truly remarkable. Thank you for caring, Dr Rogers.

  • Bette Broyd

So pleased that email contact with Portland Medical Centre is responded to promptly and that action is taken to keep us all healthy. A vast improvement and contrast to the days of phoning at 8 am and hearing you were 35th in line. Thank you!

  • Yvette Shaw

If you're looking to register with a surgery that is efficient at providing an optimal service, and keen on building personable relationships with it's patients; then look no further. Portland Medical Centre is the right surgery for you!

  • Roger Earl

In plain this is a surgery that provides protection and kindness for the patient. Help is always there when you need it. Customer service is helpful and the doctors are great. Well done keep going in the way you are doing this.Thank you.

  • Emma Quashie

I am happy with the service at the Portland Medical Centre. I always manage to speak to or see someone if necessary on the same day I contact them. Also their covid vaccination programme this time has been very speedy and efficient

  • Russell Malyon

I VISITED PORTLAND MED CENTRE THIS MORNING 7/10/23 AND I HAVE TO SAY THAT BOTH LADIES AT RECEPTION WERE ABSOLUTELY THE MOST HELPFUL EFFICIENT STAFF I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. LONG MAY THIS CONTINUE. KIND REGARDS RUSSELL MALYON.

  • Celia Grossett

Delighted to have attended an appointment on a Saturday (for my daughter's polio vaccine). Admin staff and nurse were very friendly and helpful. Although the practice was busy, we were seen to very quickly and efficiently.

  • Florence Gartland

Portland Medical centre were fantastic at supporting me through my pregnancy and beyond. Really recommend the lovely GPs and great comms from the practice. Always able to speak to someone quickly and get the help I need.

  • Amy Houtenbos

I am happy with Portland Medical, the surgery always get back to me same day. They are very helpful and quickly provide me with the information I need to book an appointment, collect a prescription or get medical advice.

  • Chrissy chriss

My doctor is genuinely caring, she takes the time out to listen to my concerns and makes followup well-being calls. The staff are generally friendly and kind. I am satisfied with the quality of service at this practice.

  • Yvonne Edwards

This is my local surgery and I have been a patient here since 1990. I recently had my yearly blood tests done here and also had my yearly flu jab. The receptionists are polite and friendly. This is a good GP surgery.

  • Sally Shorney

Had to queue outside for several minutes, but once inside and appointment acknowledged, I was seen very quickly. Only thought I’d be having Covid booster, but offered flu jab too. Excellent. Over and done in 10 mins.

  • Sonia Clarke (Son)

I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and was seen at my appointment time. I was seen by a lovely nurse who administered my injection, explaining what she was doing throughout. I was in and out in no time!

  • Karen Handy

Friendly and helpful. Good response for quick telephone appointments. No waiting for covid booster and was offered the flu one at the same time. I didn't want them both at the same time which was no problem.

  • David Koman

I’ve had multiple brilliant experiences with this Medical Centre. They quick with their responses quick with appointment times and get to the bottom of the issues efficiently. I highly recommend this centre

  • Toussaint Phillips

One of the receptionists only puts on a mask when black people approach the front desk . Very subtle and discreet style of discrimination personally witnessed first hand and told of other’s experiences
