There’s two counters in here, a regular one at the front and one on the right that says ‘Travel Money’ above it. I was waiting at the front of the queue to go to the regular front counter to deposit money for a good while but could see a staff member on the travel money counter with no queue. After about 5 mins waiting at the front I thought I’d go over the the lady at the travel money counter to see if I’m still good to wait in the queue I am in or if I should wait over by the travel money until she or someone else is ready. (I didn’t want to look stupid waiting in one queue if I could wait in the other that actually has staff on the counter). I walk over and before I could even say hi, she very abruptly yelled at me “I didn’t say you could come here, go back and stand in the queue until I say you can come over”. I was honestly so shocked because no one has every spoken to me like that in my life. It was beyond rude. I replied saying “sorry I just wanted to ask a question”. She said (very patronising) “Go stand. Back in the queue. And wait until you’re called over.” I’m so angry at myself for not telling her how mean she was but I have never experienced unwarranted hostility like that. I left because I was genuinely sad and wanted to get out of there. This happened a few months ago but it’s still bothering me and I don’t want her to get away with it. And next time I go in there, If she calls me over I will refuse and offer the person behind to go. It’s truly mad that she hasn’t been fired for speaking to people like that.

I absolutely ADORE the staff at Liverpool Central Post Office. I am from Sonoma, California, USA. In 1996, my then 12yo daughter was doing a book report on 'The True Adventures of Charlotte Doyle'. It's the story of a 14yo American girl, educated in Surrey, returning home to Philadelphia via Liverpool in 1872. My daughter had the sweet idea of writing the report as if she were Charlotte, first writing a letter to her parents as the voyage began, then another as the voyage ended. Her Dad suggested she have the letters mailed from the actual post offices...and we were off. We had to get the addresses of the post offices, find postal rates, figure out exchange rates...and all pre-internet. It was a huge project, at the time. The absolute highlight was the day we called the Liverpool Post Office. The staff was incredibly helpful and were overjoyed to help. So much so that, when her class received the 'letter' from Liverpool, it was in a box accompanied by a postcard signed by all the staff, a book of stamps, bseveral denominations of coins and currency, Jammy Dodgers for all the kids, a liner schedule for boats leaving Liverpool for America, and a lovely group photo. My daughter was so excited, she left class to go to the office and have them call so she could tell me; I will never forget the joy in her voice that day. Absolute top marks to the staff of the Liverpool post office.

The manager Jackie, treated customers with a disgraceful and rude attitude!  The first time I arrived she told me that my EU driving license was no good and I needed a passport of identification. She talked to me like I disturbed her from her daily routine or had done something wrong. The second time I brought the passport she just suddenly decided that she didn't want to do it. When I asked what is the issue she said that since she hadn't provided me with any services she may not explain the reason. I told her that it took me time to travel back home to collect passport, and yet Im rejected in service with absolutely no explanation. Then she gave me a leaflet with contact details for complaints saying that I may call this number with a cynical smile on her face. Shortly I tried to call the number but it was inactive. When popped back to the shop and asked to provide me with an alternative one, she said that she was aware that the phone number didn't work and that I should email instead, and kept smiling like she played me. This was a disgusting experience, especially for the manager of the branch. I went through reviews and saw complaints about her over and over again. I don't understand why the company keeps her as a member of staff as this ruins the corporate reputation of the national chain.

Avoid the middle aged lady with greying hair as she lacks basic understanding of customer service and is clearly not fit for her job. From the moment I approached her counter, it was clear she had no interest in providing good customer service. She had an indifferent attitude and made it painfully obvious that she would rather be anywhere else but there. She persistently blamed me for a mistake on her behalf and didn’t even bother seem interested in fixing it. Her lack of knowledge was astonishing, she seemed clueless about basic postal procedures, leaving me feeling frustrated and confused. It was clear she was either not trained properly, a horrible person in general or most probably just a bit too slow. I urge others to avoid dealing with this particular lady at all costs. Her unhelpfulness, indifference, and disrespectful behavior made my visit to the post office a truly unpleasant experience. Find another post office where the staff provides decent service.

Not able to contact by phone directly. Answering message says staff are 'busy', which appears to be untrue, given nobody ever picks up, even at quiet times. Calls were eventually returned after leaving three increasingly urgent messages. But at least they did, I guess, which is more than can be said of the main royal mail phone line, which offers no option to speak to a human or leave a message. Update October 2019: post office got back to me finally and apologised for not getting in touch sooner. Gave me all the information I needed to apply for the Irish passport. Also advised that the photo certification could be carried out by a local solicitors who work with the post office informally. Took the plunge went up to Liverpool everything ran super smooth. Passport arrived 3 weeks later. Happy customer.

At St Johns PO: The lady serving me was unprofessional, careless, off-hand, gave wrong advice, charged me incorrectly, so luckily I had googled prices in advance so knew it was not right. Then put a wrong stamp onto an international letter which I luckily noticed, and she had to change it. The office is in good location so I might use it again, but would certainly avoid that particular person. PS. Two days later went to the post office within WHS at L1 to send a similar international letter containing important documents: what a difference! The lady there was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and gave me all the different sending options, which the St John's lady never did.

I've just been in this post office and the way a meneber of staff named Jackie spoke to another member of staff and customers was disgusting. Attitude stinks and its not the first time I've seen her act this way. She has also spoke to me like I'm in the wrong for being there. If you don't like your job and can't speak to people nicely then leave. Youre their to do a service so be nice while doing it. I spoke to the lad (that's how I got her name) and I told him to stand up for himself and not be spoken to like that. Don't know how this woman is still working there to be honest!!

  • Susi Harris

Applied for my Irish passport here, incredibly busy place, I had to go back a second time due to very long queue first time. Despite this the staff member who dealt with me, and was clearly the team leader, fielding queries from other staff (and an attempt by a person from another department to take some of his staff away on another job!) managed to focus very well on my application (which I had not completed correctly) and ensure all the paperwork was there, and remained unflustered and courteous throughout.

  • Jack Roberts

If I could give this Post Office no stars I would. Customer service is the worst I’ve encountered. Staff are utterly disinterested in helping you with any kind of problem. Michelle, who works behind the back desk needs re-training in every aspect of customer service. Rude and dismissive from the moment I approached her. It’s not the customer’s fault you hate your job. You’d be quicker strapping your parcel to a seagull, and sending it to your proposed destination. There’s nothing ‘Royal’ about Royal Mail.

  • Rayhan Zakaria

Stay clear of the manageress Jackie, extremely rude, no patience, needs to be trained on customer care. Many other reviewers have commented on the bad customer service which they have received here, I feel it comes from the manageress. Only positive is the self service. They deliberately keep tills under staffed so that you go to the self service or not go at all. Finally this branch have no BAME or LGBT and zero diversity in counter staff make up. Could it be the manageress got some thing to do with it?

Very rude staff i am living in liverpool for 17 years and never had problem with people of liverpool but in this post ofice oh i hate it they been nasty and very rude to the point i had talk harsh to them over 0.70 pence envelop they said they just want to be sure i have been paid for witch i did but there is no need to ask me 4 time to be sure and in the end i had to show them the recipt to them i hate to say it but i belive they ve been rasist toward me very bad for post ofice

  • Cathleen Roe

Manager is the rudest person I have came across in my life. Completely unhelpful, more or less called me a liar to my face and even admitted twice that ‘her staff are too afraid of her”. Gave the benefit of the doubt the first time I came across this lady in the post office as maybe just having a bad day but her customer service has just gotten worse and it’s every single interaction with her. Not a good reflection on the post office or Royal Mail.

  • Meimei1414

Staff are always helpful. I went in today at about 5.30 for a book of stamps I was in a queue of about 14 people, the main counter had one lady serving between the main counter and helping people at the self service, she was back and forth. The one and only guy at the travel money counter besides his usual job he served postage stamps to help out the main counter, I think. Both staff were pleasant and efficient. I really can't praise them enough.

  • Miss Positive

I visited the Post Office at Liverpool One, 1-3 South John Street today I had travelled on the train from the West Midlands it was so easy to find I just had to look for the WH Smith shop the Post Office is up stairs I was served by Daniel who was so helpful the customer service was Excellent everything was explained I used the check & send service as I was applying for my first Irish passport only had to wait a few minutes to be served.

  • James McKinney

I have just watched the manager (Jackie) berate a poor young woman who was trying to post something for her work. She screamed at this poor girl for everyone to hear. This woman Jackie has no people skills, lacks any form of customer service, and should not be allowed to work near the public never mind managing other people. The amount of complaints I have seen about this woman shows that nobody is happy with her behaviour. Appalling.

  • Ruth

Shockingly poor customer service from a woman named Jackie who was aggressive towards m, her attitude was shocking but then, the way the female middle aged manager speaks to her staff is as unprofessional too, so no wonder the staff are so rude and miserable. The only person in there who was friendly and polite in the older man who works in there, feel very sorry for him, he looked downtrodden. .

  • Josh Pugh

Lazy staff you have to send the parcels yourself at the self check out and put the postage label on the parcels you send yourself and put it in post box. unhelpful staff who don't care should be ashamed to accept wages if they only are willing to sit one their bottoms instead of helping customer I'm paying to send an item why should I have to do the work when they get paid avoid this post office

  • Condor Kelly

Seriously, has anyone had a good experience here??? No one on the desks, queue was a the travel money. Waited there for 10 minutes waiting to be seen and when I was I was informed that I had to go to self-service. Why??? I waited to be seen, sending registered post why can't they do it instead of putting me in yet another queue. Stay clear, go to Lewis's one instead

  • DazAltTheory

Outstanding Customer Service especially in Liverpool for me has unfortunately been a rare experience yet Alex that works at the Liverpool ONE Royal Mail Post Office is brilliant. I've never seen a individual that has patience along with working extremely hard giving assistance to customers navigating the always awkward self-service machines. Hence, this review.

  • Dion Yates

The only place that knew how to initialise my Scottish Power key. When I had to use an RTI code to verify an electric meter key as my own, I went to PayPoint outlets and post offices all over Liverpool. Not one of them knew how it worked, then I went into WHSmith and the young server just walked to a separate area, returning with my key and receipt. Easy As.

  • issy

why do the staff act so annoyed that you’re there and want to post something. went to post a letter there and the way i was told to go to self service by one of the staff made me feel like i was a kid being told off in school again or something. bizarre they are so fuming you’re there when it’s their job to serve you. sorry for being a customer i guess lol

  • Brett Donnelly

The manager (clearly a Karen) is absolutely disgusting. The way she spoke to one of her staff members today was just absolutely horrific. She should not be in her position at all. Honestly beyond belief. I hope the poor lad is who works there is ok. I have put in a complaint and I hope they throw the book at her!

  • wonderer 234

The staff speaks to you in a rude orderly manner in front of other people when they want to approach you they don t come up to you they just shout over. You can judge hostility of staff in any place that has got signs saying "don't be abusive to staff" really. They care about staff evidently more than customers

  • Lea S

PROS: - you can buy lots of stationary and books as well (as part of WHSmith), - self-service area (thank god!), - clean. CONS: - hidden inside a WHSmith (on the first floor, you can easily miss it), - staff pretty ignorant, - long queues (if you can use the machine instead of waiting in line, do it).

  • Sachy my forever

I use this post office frequently at least 2,3 times a week as it is near where I work I can honestly say there has not been one occasion were it has been unpleasant I always use the self service and there is always a professional helpful staff member on hand who are always happy to oblige.

  • Angus Hutcheson

Appalling service, over crowded, the queue was basically the entire floor, out of the like ten counters, only about three were being used and no one was directing people to use the self service kiosk. No clear direction of where you were meant to go to for what service

  • BadTwin

I got a rude and unhelpful elder woman at the St John Post Office who wouldn't help me after I was trying to post some parcels for someone. So I took my businss to this post office and the staff were helpful and polite who managed to help me deliver a small parcel.

  • Nikhil Joshi

Helpful staff... Reliable delivery.. Reasonably priced.. In the city centre.. Can send the stuff all around the world with bare minimum cost. There are kiosks available in case of a line to reduce waiting. Takes credit card payment as well. Liked the Post office.

  • Jacob

Cannot believe how rude the manager is here! Almost all of my staff members complained about Jackie the Manager shouting and screaming at them calling them liars. After coming onto the reviews I see that she is the sole problem. Absolutely gobsmacked

  • John B

9 counters only 1 open, when you do eventually reach the front of the queue they take you over to the self service, I'm not employed by the post, once they start paying me I will do all the work myself, until that happens open some more counters.

  • mark kneale

Visited the post offices today, but even though the staff were in, I was told they had decided to close at 5pm because they were short staffed. With the other post office closed there is no after work post office in the city centre.

  • V L

Being a tourist in town and unfamiliar with the self help kiosk, the customer service assistant was class ! She helped me tremendously but I am so sorry I forgotten to take note of her name Time & date visited 20/4/18 (Fri) 1130

  • Kat Louise

Shocking customer service by staff member Michelle, is very blunt and rude to customers obviously doesn’t enjoy her job, her manager needs to assist on her doing a customer service course or crack a smile every now and then.

  • Kye Charl

Senior manager is an absolute disgrace to the franchise, has absolutely no customer service, she decided it would be fun to have a go at me for a mistake on her end and blame me instead of trying to figure out a solution

  • D Mills

Staff here have good customer service skills. During busy times they don't get stressed or worked up. They give the impression of trying their best to serve customers politely and in a well mannered way. Thank you.

  • Nick Davidson

Very rude woman counter staff member refused to weigh parcels or sell stamps after i had queued for 15 minutes directing me to self service for a further 10 minutes. How can a post office refuse to sell stamps??

  • Jade

Awful, service, awful staff. Hold forms they cannot advise on and have advised me to send my drivers license to the wrong address which will take an extra 2 weeks to rectify. Ridiculous

  • Panos Emmanouilidis

my customer experience since the last 12 months has significantly been improved and staff is really helpful. However some of their processes (e.g.Return envelops) is really bureaucratic!

  • kayleigh williams

Young girl and older women in the post office attitude, is absolutely disgusting not at all professional! In side st John's post office worst customer service I have ever come across

  • JR

Brilliant service! I needed to renew my drivers licence today and the service I received was excellent. Friendly, efficient, and courteous staff. I couldn't ask for more. Thank you.

  • Andy Denn

Jackie the Manager is probably the rudest most patronising person ever to work in customer service. If you think you are too good for the people you serve then get another job!

  • Nicholas Price

Customer service is awful, all of you are awful at your jobs. Not even just not smiling your attitude is vile. Prefer to walk an extra few minutes then see these fogleys again

  • Antony Burdett

Website said it was open so I went down with a parcel to send and found it closed. So I was stuck with a medium sized parcel and I had to do food shopping., very dissatisfied.

  • Robert Letham

Helpful and friendly staff even during these difficult times and dealing with some ridiculous attitudes from some individuals I found the staff very patient and understanding

  • Derek 'H'

Nice large post office above w.h.smith good staff fast service all covid alert social distancing in place open on Sundays as well,Derek moores …

  • K

Rubbish. Closes at 6pm but closed at 5pm because of no staff were there, why? Imagine other important places just closing early, wouldn't happen.

  • Angela McNulty

When I arrived at the Post Office it had an A4 piece of paper saying it had closed due to being short staffed, without any notification on line

  • Matt

Extremely rude and short tempered, I was nothing but polite and patient towards staff. Don’t know why I was spoken to in the way I was.

  • Jozef Zich

The manger Jackie has absolutely no interest in serving customers giving extremely rude and careless attitude for most basic inquiries

  • Zak Ancel

I got stamps for postcards. I usually hate post offices. I did not hate my experience at this particular one which was good for me.

  • Kaan Kkk

Except for the arrogant old woman who I think is the manager, the other all staff are extremely friendly and respectful.

  • P Cairns

Very helpful in the post office for advice on timing and cost of post and delivery. WHSmith staff more than helpful too.

  • Tom

Can get busy but theres quite a few self service kiosks there so if you have a lot of stuff to post it's worth the trip

  • Jennifer Murphy

Rude, obnoxious staff and they do not have enough staff for a central location. Expect to wait an hour to be served

  • Martin Gee

Closed today, Sunday 26th, without any warning. Only when I got there, there was a sign on the door saying closed.

  • Dave Gostelow

Ridiculously slow if you want to use the counters. Not too bad for the self service - but they often don’t work

  • Tom Littler

Rude is all I need to say about the experience. Don't work in customer service if you aren't a people person.

  • Mira Gre

Disgusting attitude towards customers and extremely slow service, especially by the more senior staff.

  • Johnathan Rooney
