If there was a way to give more than an "excellent" rating, I would gladly take advantage of the feature for this auto repair business. Perhaps there is no other widely used business in the world that offers so many opportunities to take advantage of a customer than a mechanic's or car repair business. The vast majority of people just do not know much about how or why their car is not working properly. I have spent my whole life dreading the endless dance from mechanic to mechanic, trying to find someone I TRUST. Well, I am extremely happy to report that I have found that diamond in the rough with Lance and the rest of the crew at Professional Auto Repair. After my old car completely died, and I was facing some serious financial issues, I was forced to buy, yet again, another very used car. When you spend just a little over $2,000 on a car, you know that it will need breaks, a tune-up, tires rotated, etc. I am now dealing with my third, separate car issue and am beyond happy knowing that Lance and Professional Auto Repait are taking care of it. They don't try to sell you on extra stuff. They are the most honest people I have ever come across in this business. When I brought my car in to have brakes replaced, I told them to replace it all. However, after driving it and putting it up on the rack, Lance came back into the perfectly arranged waiting room and told me that while the rotors were bad (I expected), the brake pads themselves were fine and didn't need replacing (I didn't expect that). Any other car shop would have gladly charged me the extra labor for the brake pads, especially because I asked for them to be replaced. Not only are these guys honest and very good at what they do, but their customer service is simply the best. They take walk-ins (or drive-ins) when there is an emergency but they are incredibly good about scheduling appointment times that are most convenient for you. In the past, even with an appointment time, I have always had a friend follow me to the auto repair place so that I didn't have to wait while it was being fixed because it always took a very long time. Not here. I love the efficiency with which these guys work. If Lance tells you he can have you in and out in under two hours, you are out of there in less than two hours. Plus, I have gotten a lot of work done on my computer while waiting there. Their Wi-Fi signal is strong. They offer plenty of complimentary soda and drink options. Lance is always checking in to make sure you are apprised of what is happening with your car and making sure you have your coffee or whatever else you need. I will always use these guys for any future car needs. I will gladly recommend them to anyone and feel a bit of pride about knowing that I have found a rare gem in Atlanta and am passing it along to my friends and family. The days of extensive internet searches and calling around for the best deals are over. Professional Auto Repair on Monroe is the best and only place for me.

I used to think this place was solid and honest and had even taken my car there multiple times. The last time I was there, they called with the bad news that one of my ignition coils was misfiring and needed to be replaced. Here is the problem--I asked them how much to replace the faulty item, and they said it was not possible to determine which of the six were misfiring, so they had to replace all six for $1000. I asked multiple times if there was any way to test which one was misfiring and they told me each time there was absolutely no way. I took their word for it. They changed all six, car was working, I'm out $1000. Fast forward just over a year later and my car is acting up and making a familiar sound. For convenience, I took it to a different place close to work. One of my year old ignition coils is misfiring, specifically number 3---I know this because they are in fact able to test which one. Professional Auto is either dishonest or incompetent, and I will never give them my business again. They fell right into the negative connotation surrounding mechanics--took advantage of someone who doesn't know cars, over-charged, and then the part went faulty a year after.

I've brought my 2002 Volvo XC in for service twice in the past year and had excellent experiences. Both times I've been called within two hours of dropping off my car (I didn't schedule appointments) with a full explanation of the work I could potentially have done, the cost, and--most importantly to me--the implications of not having the work done. Lance has been very honest about which repairs were urgent and which I could hold off on. On my most recent visit, they informed me that my suspension needed about $3,000 in repairs, but admitted that this likely exceeds the current value of the car. They know Volvos well and helped me think through the car's future and the cost vs. benefit of having the repairs done. I will definitely continue to trust the team at Professional Automotive Repair for all of my service needs.

After four years as a customer who has had multiple experiences with Professional, there is no question Professional Automotive Repair is an excellent service provider for any car. Their knowledge, attention to detail, skills and customer orientation make them both highly competent and trustworthy. Lance, the Monroe Dr. service manager, never fails to do his best for the customer. A recent day when we had problems with both our cars produced a 'can do' approach by Professional, squeezing us into their schedule and providing 'fixes' in a highly timely way. The service-commitment is exemplary. Highly recommended for all makes and issues.

We were leaving Atlanta to go home to Raleigh when we started having transmission problems. We were lucky enough to exit right at Professional Automotive. They could have easilt taken advantage of our situation and tell us we needed an expensive transmission repair, and we wouldn't have known the difference. They told us we had a small transmission leak, and if we would keep it filled, we would make it home ok. To make a long story short, these guys are really honest and if you live in Atlanta, you're very lucky to have them available if you need honest mechanics.

The most honest and decent auto mechanic I have ever met. Instead of making me wait for an appointment, Lance stopped what he was doing, walked outside, took a look at my “busted tail light,” and determined that the bulb was simply not screwed in properly (my other mechanic wanted several hundred dollars for a Lexus part replacement). Furthermore, he would not accept a single dollar from me. When I insisted he take $20, he relented and said he would use it to buy lunch for his shop guys. Needless to say, I won’t be going anywhere else for repairs.

My car needed new spark plugs on a tight timeline due to upcoming travel I had planned. After calling a few shops that weren’t so accommodating, I tried Professional Automotive Repair and I’m so glad I did. Lance got my car in and diagnosed same day and it was ready for pickup early the next morning so that I could get on the road. The communication was great, price was fair, and my car is running like new. I’m so thankful for these guys and definitely recommend this shop!

They obviously don't care about keeping their customers happy. I spent over $450.00 at this shop with 2 different vehicles. The first, an older Mercedes. The repairs they did lasted less than a month. Today I picked up my jeep, I was told the check engine codes were gone and go ahead and drive it. Paid the 270.00 and found the same problem I brought it in for 2 days prior. I can't recommend this shop. Their answer was take it to the dealership.

At least stick to your business hours so I don’t waste my time getting a ride here to pick up my car to find out you’re now closed early on a normal business day. Now I have to go without my car the whole weekend? Edit: I was able to reach Lance after business hours and he agreed to meet me at the shop so I can get my car back for the weekend. That was helpful but I still wasted money on Uber/Lyft to and from the shop which frustrates me.

  • Jessica Buchanan

I am always apprehensive about taking my car in to the shop, but after reading other reviews for this shop I gave it a try. Lance and the mechanics took excellent care of my vehicle. They held on to it until they were certain they had figured out the problem. The price of the repairs was affordable. I absolutely trust them to take care of my car. I have taken it twice for different issues and would take it back if I have any other issues.

  • Mitchell Lyons

Came in Tuesday because my ac is blowing hot air. They scheduled me for Thursday morning to repair it. Dropped car off Thursday morning and said they would call about an hour to let me know what would be done. No call. Called at 3- haven’t gotten to it yet. Called again at 4:45- haven’t gotten to it yet. I came and picked it up- do people not realize we’re all on schedules?

Lance is a good, honest mechanic. I have a 15+ year old SUV, so I have to take my car into the shop pretty frequently for minor (and sometimes more major) issues. I always get a fair quote. In fact, the price is often less than quoted. If they don't see an issue, they have also not charged me any diagnostic fee. One of the few mechanics out there that you can really trust.

  • Adam Hardaway

Always timely with their work, and very honest. It's comforting knowing that I don't have to worry about not being ripped off in any way. They've always told what's wrong, how important it is to be fixed, and what the cost is- and the final bill has never deviated from what they told me it would be. Would highly recommend.

  • William Burrell

Lance and his team are fantastic. I've had them work on my 2013 car and my 1980 truck, and they've done great work every time, no matter the problem. They are professional, communicative, and extremely fair in their pricing. Really couldn't recommend these guys enough - they know what they're doing.

  • Mirjam Wit

I've been taking my Volvo here for over 5 years. They're reliable, accommodating, transparent, and helpful. When possible, they help me keep repair costs down, including sourcing my own parts. I'm confident that they help me stay several steps ahead of the quirks my car might display next.

  • Andy Vollmer

Professional Automotive Repair is an excellent garage! Lance took care of my vehicle. He was able to schedule my appointment and service my vehicle in the same day. Very honest and straightforward about what was, and wasn’t needed to keep my Volvo running well. Definitely recommend.

  • Michael Chandler

It's been hard finding a really good and trust worthy mechanic, and I found one here. They've worked on both of my cars, one a Toyota 4Runner the other a Mitsubishi Galant, and both have been stellar repair jobs. I would recommend this shop to anyone living downtown or intown.

  • Alec Liberman

Came in for several warning lights tied to a wheel sensor and the technician diagnosed it as a wheel hub problem. He was correct, replaced the wheel hub, and didn't try to sell me anything I did not need. I highly recommend Lance and anyone at Professional Automotive Repair.

  • Robert Lasiter (Spades)

Stop wasting time and bring your car here if you need service. They diagnosed it and gave me multiple options with different price points of what I could do. And they did all this at the drop of a hat which I couldn't be more thankful for is there honest and damn quick

  • Jake Hayden

I've been to both locations and they both offer excellent service. Their rates are fair and they're honest and transparent when it comes to your car issues. Having driven mostly old Volvos for 15 years, I can say with confidence these guys are the best around.

  • Cindy Mooney

I finally found a automotive repair shop that doesn't want to sell you something you don't need. I also enjoyed how they explain things and show you if you want to see. The technician John is a joy to deal with. So if your looking for an honest shop go here.

  • Charles Carter

I took my 2001 Corvette is for electrical issues and a oil change. To my complete satisfaction Lance did a superior job and did not over charge me. They have my and my family business in the future. TRUSTWORTHY,DEPENDABLE AND HONEST!!!!!!

  • Brendan Krasinski

They did a great job on my car, and the price was pretty good too (although with a volvo, you always wish it were less). I have tried a few different volvo places in town, and these guys were the nicest and most professional I found.

  • Caroline “Caroline” Mason

I really thought it would be okay but it took 2 days longer then quoted and the newly replaced axel popped causing me ANOTHER tow. Few days later the bottom of my car lit on fire. They left a rag under my csr. :(

  • Jackson Parker

Took me awhile to find a mechanic in Atlanta; tried 3 or 4 places and got the run around. I like Lance at P.A.R. He shoots it straight and doesn’t try to oversell me on BS repairs. Always takes care of me.

  • MrTheBonesaw

I have come to Lance and Professional Auto Repair thru the life of my Subaru. They always do great work, and have helped me in times of need. This is where I send friends looking for a mechanic.

  • Laura Troutt

Con artists. Do not trust these people. Head office manager (Lance) can’t remember a phone call he had less than an hour ago. We trusted them at first and learned our lesson.

  • Jessica Tozzo

Small shop with professional, timely service. Lance was nice and seemed genuine and honest. Simple explanations, no getting the run around. I'd definitely go again.

  • Jessica Szember

These guys are the best. Honest advice, honest rates for service and parts, timely service. Can't say enough good things. 10/10. Would recommend. …
