UPDATED REVIEW: RAT IN UNIT. DESTROYED MANY OF THE ITEMS. I contacted management multiple times before they put bait in unit. Upon move out request I was told to have my unit empty. I emptied unit by move out date and was later charged an entire extra month without warning because management had given inaccurate move out steps. I've used units before and never had to go beyond just emptying the unit. Tried contacting manager about issue and was told I'd have to accept charges and maybe receive a refund. Complete waste of money and would've saved money by buying everything new instead of storing. ORIGINAL REVIEW: So this review is written after having used this location for a couple months now. My biggest complaint about the spot was the difficulty in getting my unit. I signed up with the impression that everything could be done virtually. By the time I realized I couldn't just sign up, pay, etc. Online, I was in enough need of the unit that I had to go into the office in person. The only other complaints I have are that the unit doesn't actually have light inside (there's a switch but like 20ft up, no bulb and that the homeless camp just outside the location makes me feel slightly uneasy about going to my unit. I'm definitely more comfortable with my partner there or dogs in the car with me. The pros though are pretty great... My unit is big both in the square footage and height. I'm able to put my 2 bedroom house in there with plenty of room to spare. After downloading the app, I'm able to open the gate without leaving my car. In terms of hours, they're pretty generous despite not being 24 hours. I haven't had an issue with my autopay or accessing the unit at this point.

PLACE IS SHADY. Rented a 5X10 space at a reasonable price. Paid for a month. I wasn't too sure if I would need the space for more than a month and when the manager called me a week later-- I hadn't moved anything in yet--told him as much. He said to just let him know for certain a few days before the month was done, and my lease will be cancelled. Fast forward a few weeks--I realized I would use the space after all and tried calling them a week before the end of the month, but could not get through to anyone. (Shady part 1: when you call "Public Storage" they make you put in your account info to be patched through to a representative; when I did this they said I did not have an account. When I finally talked to an operator, she said my Public Storage DID NOT EXIST in her database, even though I gave her the exact address.) I went by the Office of this Public Storage a few times, but the door was locked and no rep was present. (Granted, it is Covid times...) Finally, 3 days before the end of my lease I go by and the manager is finally there, so I tell him I am keeping the space. Turns out it is already rented and occupied! Then, he offers me a smaller space, for double the price! No apologies for breaking my lease. No offerings to help me find another space at a similar rate. Total waste of time and money. Very dissapointing.

This will be my first time renting a storage space. Alyssa was very helpful in explaining how the gate and elevator worked. The gate is really old fashioned and kind of scary but cool too. Be sure to bring your own padlock. You have to have one when you first come in in order to reserve your space. if you don't have one, they will offer to sell you one for $18. You can use your own though, you just have to bring it with you the first time. Otherwise you'll lose your reservation on the space you wanted. The space is pretty old and dingy, but seems secure and well lit enough. The price to move in was fairly cheap. I didn't get the first month's rent at $1, as advertised, but I believe that special may only apply to bigger units. I did get half off my first month's rent and a prorated amount for the second month, since I am paying for the whole month of December but moving in on the middle of the month. So that seems really fair. I also like how you don't have to give them any card numbers to keep on file and you just pay month to month. To engage in a transaction this simple is rare these days, and I really appreciated that aspect of it. Great customer service, great location, good deal in general. Thanks again, Alyssa.

Rented unit online. Arrived to find my unit on second floor. Old freight elevator broken and was told it was not going to be fixed. OK, replaced it with ground floor unit (D25). This unit had a broken light fixture and is very dark requiring a head lamp to see. "Nope, we're not going to fix it." Then they replaced the doors. New door hits the beam not allowing it to open wide enough to get furniture out. Onsite manager (Jesse) told me they will not do anything about it insisting there is enough room and reiterated they would not fix the broken light fixture. This is customer service? Simply refusing to repair a $5 light fixture (it's not the bulb) is, to me, the ultimate f@#$ you. I was told by Jesse (in so many words): "We've got your stuff AND your debit card so...." Last time this company gets any of my future business. Advice - use a credit card so you can dispute charges as this company, as represented by Jesse, doesn't give a s@#t about you, your stuff or any problems you with the facility. Oh, and they increased the rent $40/month to pay for the new doors but the won't fix a stupid light fixture.

Run down, not a very secure location, $96 definitely is not worth the space or the location of the fact that it is in an unsafe area. Paid our monthly rate and ended up going to a small family run storage facility 5 minutes away from us and so glad we did. The new place we are at is safe, very very accessible, way better value and the nicest family that runs it! So glad Public storage was so horrible that it made us look elsewhere cause we never would have found the wonderful storage facility we are at. Keep the $96 even though we only stayed 4 days into the month, your company worth 55.8 billion obviously needs the money more than us!!!!! I suggest if you are looking for a storage unit, look into the smaller, family run companies, they are usually looked past but are cleaner, safer and what we learned, cheaper. And with nicer people. For gods sake, the guy at the office for the Public storage we were at was miserable there from the conversation he had with my fiancée. Very telling as to how the company is.

I hate storage. There is always where you have to go when moving or you don't have enough room for your stuff. I always get stuck paying more than I want to pay. I had no choice, but I did have a choice of storage places. Public Storage made it easy - I set up an online reservation. Very helpful and she gave me the best deals. She even texted a confirmation and the Lombard location called to confirm I was coming. Nice service! Kiley was great - the last storage place was a creepy old guy that smelled like old socks. Kiley was fast, bright, efficient and helped me get the paperwork done quickly. I even asked her about other options and we agreed on the best space for my needs. Best, of all, she didn't smell like old socks. She and Public Storage on Lombard are terrific. Go there. Store there. You will be glad you did - I was!

I love the $1 first month price even though the reality of it is with all the add ons it ends up $59 but it is still a bargain for a 9'x 25' space ... Being able to do it all online, book it, pay for it, get the access codes, etc. Is a great feature .. however the biggest complaint I have is the gate hours, having to be off lot by 6pm during the week, 5pm on the weekends really makes it hard for the 8-4 worker , by the time I get home from work, deal with the other half , kids I'm lucky if I can get to the storage by 5:30pm, like I said not very convenient ... And yes the gates are open at 6am but really how many people are up at that time headed for a storage unit ... I would rather see the gates be open from 8am - 8pm which would give us working stuffs a bit more room at the end of the day IMO

The location is decent. The management is decent as well. But the gates are only open from 6 or 7a.m. - 5 or 6p.m. , outside of those hours your property is inaccessible. And they have an on-site manager too. That is my main issue with this plate. Employees are friendly and accommodating. Also the prices are competitive, but keep an eye on the 6 month mark, they will jack up your price. So have a good plan so that you can avoid those additional charges. One more HUGE POSITIVE because the keypad for entry has to be accessed outside your vehicle, you can now open the gate via bluetooth and the app. GREAT FEATURE...... Ok. So i have to edit this post.. I went into my unit the other day and there was a monster RAT running on my belongings. So thats gonna affect the grade that I give them.

This place is a nightmare. When I originally rented a space it was clean and the staff was friendly. But something changed over the last 2 years. The staff is hostile and rude. There are homeless people living inside the fenced area... complete with over-stuffed shopping carts, barking dogs and the odors of urine, feces and vomit. I advise not going there during non-staffed hours and don't take your kids with you. Also, it's unclear whether or not our unit was burglarized. I can't get a straight answer from the staff but some things are missing and they padlocked it. In fairness to them it's possible the items were taken by another family member and/or stored elsewhere. But their hostility made me think they were not being honest with me.

I had a storage unit at this location for 1 1/2 years and during this time I always received the best customer service from all of the staff that assisted me. My only challenge was that I found the monthly rate to be higher than others I compared with, but I had to move under emergency circumstances and needed to be in that location. My most recent encounter was when I was moving out of my unit and had a challenge with some final business matters that proved to be very stressful as moving always is! I was being helped by Alyssa the store manager and after about an hour of troubleshooting Alyssa was able to solve the problem with patience, understanding and care. Thanks so much Alyssa!!!!

Lori was terrific! She provided amazing customer service and worked with us to rent a unit. We originally reserved a 10 x 10 ft unit, but there was double booking (Public Storage policy) and the last one was taken by the time we arrived at our scheduled move in. Lori apologized profusely, explaining the policy and offered us a bigger unit at the same price! We're very happy with the unit, Lori, and the facility, although I wish there was more parking/room at the entrance outside the gate. There's 2-3 parking spaces and only room for 1 car or truck to line up at the gate, so you have to drive around the block until they enter/exit.

I would imagine that almost all of the reviews on here are fake people created by Public Storage because this place is a nightmare. It's super shady and does not feel very secure. But then they also have the worst customer support you can possibly imagine. They just reject all claims and tell you sorry, even if you're being charged for something that is a mistake. I'm a brand new customer and was charged a late fee when I was supposed to be set up on auto-pay, and instead of fixing the problem (or listening), they just say, "Sorry. The system is telling me this." Horrible business.

ABSOLUTE WORST COMPANY EVER!! EVERY SINGLE TRAILER AND CAR HAS BEEN BROKEN INTO/LIVED IN AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE FOR A WHILE!!! When we arrived they didn't even call the owner or manager. Told us that there is nothing they can do about it. They gave us a number for the owner and it rang her phone! They didn't even notice that every other trailer had been broken into and trashed. EXTREMLY rude workers. They wouldn't even call the other owners of the trailers to let them know. Asked them to call the police and they said they didn't have to. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY ANYWHERE!

This place is foul. The first manager was O.K. the new manager can't seem to do their job correctly. They charge extra for convenience, act like you shouldn't be there, and straight up deny you the decency of honest communication. If you fall one month behind on rent your unit will be sold. I paid on the 26th. My unit was put up for auction the very next month. Even after explaining that I just paid less than a month ago. Still your unit will be sold. No exceptions. I understand running a business but there is no reason to sell someone unit after one month of falling behind.

The staff are great, and the facilities are adequate. However, $1 for the first month is obviously a scam - it comes out to about $50 after the $1 rent, the ~$23 setup fee, the ~$18 lock (they only let you use theirs) and the ~$9 required insurance. So beware, the whole $1 thing is a scam, but as a storage facility in general, the place is fine. If I understand prices correctly, it might be a little pricey compared to other storage places. (10'x15' is a little over $200/mo, before lock, insurance, taxes, special fees, nonspecial fees, air supply fees, whatever.)

I am a college student that was in desperate need for a place to store my belongings during the summer! I found that this Public Storage was extremely close to my campus. I was helped by both Jeremiah and Mini. They found me a storage unit just in time. The first time that I went in, I was greeted and assisted by Mini. She was very helpful and informative, very straight to the point and made this stressful process less stressful! I feel reassured that my belongings will be safe and secured. Thank you so much to all the staff members.

1st, they charged me for a drive up unit that I can't drive up to. It is literally blocked by a pole, even though it says vehicle acess on all the maps. We are now in a difficult situation bc we have to move today and we reserved this over 2 weeks in advance. 2nd, they said we could have a much smaller unit for almost $100 more. We opted for a smaller, more expensive unit bc we didn't have time. The unit was disgusting and covered in mold. Hfs this is creating a MAJOR hassle for us on move-day. These folks are crooks. Stay away.

I had to come in here today to fill out some forms for a storage unit in another state, but the service here was so surprisingly warm and welcoming! The kind lady at the service counter explained everything, and greeted me with a smile and great energy. Completely unexpected as I've been to other competitor storage places (not naming names), and those have been underwhelming experiences. This place deserves all of the business because she made it so easy, was genuine, and hassle-free during an already stressful move!

Omg. Just can’t say enough fantastic things about property manager Lori!!!! I drove up from NorCal with things to start of our move. My brother lives here in St John’s. This was our 3rd storage to check out and wish it would’ve been our first and saved us SO MUCH time!!! Lori asked all the right questions, knew what aprox size we needed, and just won us over with her fabulous customer service. We got the perfect storage with all amenities we required at a great price. HUGE load off thanks to Lori!!!

the storage facility is everything that i would expect to find. The management staff have been helpful. I like that i can auto-pay. My one main compliant is that they advertise as being secure, however the gate was broken from the time I started renting until just a few days ago. Almost three months in total. Seems that should've been repaired in a week tops. The last time i was there a bum with a shopping cart went strolling thru the whole place and then right back out,

We rented two storage units here. One very large and another small one. Both had easy access. The large one held the contents of a large studio and the other held my mother-in-law's personal items which included very fragile pieces. We recently moved everything to a permanent location and all items were in good shape. Nothing missing or broken. I would recommend this facility to anyone needing temporary storage.

All the managers that I have had at this property have been wonderful, Alyssa has gone above and beyond in helping me with anything I have a question about, including transferring to a different size unit, to answering questions about day to day things, she always has a smile on her face, when I see her in the office or if I catch her out on the property singing. Renting the unit was easy-peasy. Samantha showed me several different sizes, some more than once because I couldn't make up my mind! Very patient and helpful. I don't mind the lack of evening availability (mentioned in earlier review) because I won't go there much, and they are open seven-days-a-week. It it means they can staff with competent, helpful folks like Samantha, it's worth it.

Wouldn't let me rent a unit even though my ID was an identification card but it wasn't a real ID with the star the only reason why they wouldn't rent out to me was the star that's the only thing that makes it a real ID meaning for the airport or trying to cross the border it can be still used as a identification card for state and business use and it says it on the back

Packing supplies and storage spaces and she was very helpful she helped me understand what I will need to pack my things as well as what size space I will need, when it gets closer to my moving day I will definitely come back and see Alyssa she was great

The storage outside, drive up unit I used was easy to access, clean and well maintained. The staff, particularly Lorie, were excellent - communicative, friendly, and helpful. Wow thank you. Charity at the front desk was extremely helpful. I couldn’t get my trailer in the spot I rented so she showed me the ones that were available and a couple minutes later I was in a new spot, paperwork signed and very happy. I have rented an rv spot here for several months. Employees are nice. However, my camper and five others (by my count) recently had items stolen from them (batteries, propane tanks etc). The place is fenced, barb wire and gated with limited hours, but theft is out of control.

Rented a 10x12 unit. Measured it, in front of the manager, it’s 6x14. Manager says “this is our 10x12 unit”. Paying for 120 SF, getting 84 sf. That’s a 30% difference. They refuse to even acknowledge the difference, much less give the size listed or lower the cost.

No return phone calls, no manager on site. When I went to check out the unit I reserved online, it was not as described. No refund for "admin fee". Lots of extra little charges like mandatory "insurance" and a lock you don't need. Stay away.

Letting everybody know that the fire sprinkler system don't work I would not store your stuff unless your stuff but there was a fire there would be no sprinkler system to put it out these people don't care about your stuff and they have rats

Stored our stuff here for 1.5 years. No issues with security. They just close at 6 pm on weekdays and 5 pm on weekends so if you need access to your stuff after those hours you'll have issues. Other than that no complaints

Jesse was amazing! The location itself was lackluster. Can’t enter after 5 or 6. No lights in unit, literally can’t see anything inside the unit. Can’t return bolt lock for partial refund.
