I see all of the positive reviews. My experience must be an anomaly. I visited over the weekend. The store has a table at the entrance to regulate the number of people who can enter and to ensure patrons sanitize their hands. Of course, I have no issue with this. The woman who greeted us at the entrance was less than welcoming--asking "How may I help you". It resembled more of a questioning (What do you want) versus helpful/welcoming tone. I might have overlooked it if it didn't contrast what I observed while in the store. While browsing, several others approached the entrance, to which she (from a distance) welcomed them into the store by stating that they could just enter.

As a middle school English teacher, I love this book shop! The book sellers are always helpful, full of recommendations, and willing to help me look for engaging books for my students. Even if I come in with an odd request ("Can you help me find a book similar to XYZ, which I have never read but my students love??") they are willing to give their best shot! I have always left with a pleasant, helpful experience, and PLENTY of books! And puzzles, and pins, and totes, and gifts, and and and.... I love this place! Checkout my newest buy for a student - I think they will like it!

Queen Anne Book Company is absolutely wonderful! I feel better the moment I walk in to their cozy space-it's honestly the perfect space for a book store. The selection and variety of books is fantastic and I appreciate their best sellers and staff picks shelves. I'm a loyal member of their rewards program which really pays off quicker than you would think! This is my go to spot for gift shopping on Queen Anne. I love QABC. Independent book stores forever!

I love my local book store. However, the guy said I would get a phone call Friday or Saturday afternoon at the latest with the 3rd and 4th books I paid for. They didn't call. My wife's birthday is Monday. The part owner phoned Sunday and apologized. They are small and have not got their hours straight on their website. They delivered the 2 books to my house near by. Apparently, the salesman didn't know the timing on the 2 other book shipments

A lovely local bookstore. The selection is indicative of a smaller bookshop so expect to find a curated collection of books as opposed to mass selection of all the NYT Bestsellers. The staff promptly greeted me after I began looking around. When I went they we're installing a new sign for the adjacent coffee shop and the whole place looked lovely. It seems like a great place to frequent if you live in the area.

Love this cozy little gem of a store! Super helpful booksellers, awesome selection; have read 3 of their recommended books and they were all as good as the reviewer said they'd be; went to an author reading (Jo Baker, national best-selling author) that was just wonderful. Also saw Sherman Alexie there right after Thanksgiving. That's some very high-end talent. Like I said...LOVE this place.

It's a small shop so the choices are somewhat limited, but they can order stuff for you. It's kinda nice that's it's not a huge store....its not very overwhelming and I like that. Also, the staff and patrons take a lot of care and time to read and review the books on their shelves. Theres a very well attended kids book section with 'woke' and relevant choices. I really liked this shop.

Beautiful secret bookstore at the heart of Queen Anne! Next to several cute coffee shops and bakeries, it’s a beautiful place to go explore some interesting books! This place offers pretty rich selection of books from novels to classics, from humor books to psychology. If you are a tourist in Seattle, this is a great cute spot to stop by.

One of the only stores I've found books from the School of Life, a UK based publisher. The woman helping me was all smiles and legitimately interested in doing all she could to help me find what I was looking for. You could tell she goes above and beyond to ensure people have a great experience.

I live in South Africa and recently purchased a gift voucher for my granddaughter and I was so delighted to receive a personal message back from Tegan referring to the fact that my order came all the way from South Africa - so rare in this automated age and it just made my day :-) thank you

The lady who served me in this store was so nice I almost cried. That's some high praise. Legit a brilliant bookstore with huge choice, great merchandising and just a great vibe. I could have stayed there all day. If you visit Seattle and need a place to go for a real vibe, come here.

I love coming in here and seeing the book selections and reviews of books. Today I was in a pinch and needed to grab some books for a family member. One of the women working stopped to offer help and went above and beyond in helping me find the right books. This is a great book store!

Just maybe my favorite bookstore. I don't live in Seattle so I don't visit as often as I'd like, but when we're in the area it's one of our must do stops. I love their staff recommendations, the selection they offer and just the pleasant surroundings.

Love this bookstore! And they have very safe policies during the pandemic. You can order online and pickup at door or you can browse for up to 30 minutes by appointment only. Gloves are both required and provided whole browsing, which I appreciate!

  • Bryce Van Vleet

Fantastic independent bookstore. The shelves may have less inventory than your big box store but the staff have far better, more diverse, and unique recommendations. The staff are friendly and always willing to order what they don't have.

  • Alan Burke

Shh! Don't go there. We want these special bookstores with extra special and helpful, friendly staff, myriad book choices to remain our little secret. Oh, and did I tell you that it's right next to Diablo coffee? No, I didn't. Never mind.
