We had viewed this apartment in Strand, and on viewing the apartment had some insects. We decided to go ahead and take it, and advised per the agent that we could only get the place if we paid an advance amount. Which we had done, the second day of living in the apartment we found out that there was a problem with the geyser, and the maintenance manager of the complex was aware about it.He had brought it to our attention, so now there is an impression that they were fully aware of the matter. We had sent along email explaining the problem with the geyser, the patio which I asked them to paint before we moved in, the stove which was not functioning and the insect infestation. To which only the geyser was replaced. I have then advised them all via email of the above mentioned things that needed to be replaced, repaired or fumigated. This was still not done, I then spoke to Jacqui Savage who had gotten involved and advised Rawson Somerset to fix, repair or fumigate. To which Rawson properties somerset has not done anything about. I had to advise Jacqui again that nothing has been done, and Jacqui advised that the owner was in breach of contract and we had the go ahead to cancel. Then Schalk got involved to advise that Jacqui cannot make decisions like that as it is his franchise. We then spoke to Schalk face to face explaining everything above and how we are currently living in an inhospitable environment and that the insects were getting worse and where we received an email from Marilyn expressing that they are aware of the problem and its been going on for some time now. We therefore received the go ahead to be let out of our lease by Schalk and moved out at the end of October 2019. He advised that we would receive our money back from the 6 months advance rent paid upfront as we only stayed there 3 months. We enquired if we could see other properties with Rawson and never received a callback from the agent. We found a place and wanted to use the 3 months owed to us as a deposit for the new place. Which we have not received, instead we had to make another plan. I have called Schalk repeatedly and asked for the money due, he has said that he is waiting for the owner to pay it into his account, also advised that should there be new tenants we would get the refund, currently there is new tenants for 2 months now and we still haven't received our refund. I have called him repeatedly and mailed him repeatedly but with no response at all. What do I do?

It was our first purchase of a house in South Africa and being a foreigner you always feel vulnerable in a foreign country. With a pending emigration looming, my husband and I had to take the plunge to sell our house. We were very reluctant, because we were told the market is BAD. A week or two prior to this decision, my husband had a phone call from Belinda Sawyer, wondering if we were interested in selling our house. She followed this call with an email to me. Obviously, when we needed to get an Agent, we contacted Belinda! Based on a vast amount of information and market research from them, we gave her and her partner, Christelle Strauss, a Sole Mandate. I thought they were crazy to suggest the price we put the house on the market for. Yes, it was based on research, but I was a skeptic. A few days later the photographer took the virtual tour videos and a few days later the pics and video were on their site. 11 days and 5 viewings later we received a perfectly acceptable offer, which we signed. Less than a week later the bond is approved and the house has been sold. I have never experienced such a smooth process. Belinda and Christelle are exceptionally professional. We were kept in the loop with emails and calls the whole time. We cannot recommend Belinda and Christelle from Rawson Properties in Somerset West enough.

Very disappointed as a tenant, and will also not let any of my own rental properties be managed by Rawson in future. Attempted to implement clauses not even in the signed rental agreement upon early cancellation. Had no pre-exit inspection and as required by their own standard operating procedure, and then slapped with very excessive deductions from my deposit without being afforded the opportunity to approve quotes in advance or use my own contractors. R150 for a lightbulb, R700 to "tidy up" a 2mx3m piece of garden, R950 to paint over a spot on the wall after confirming the landlord has spare paint available, the list goes on. No duty of care when they are spending someone else's money it seems. If you are a tenant make sure you have a pre-exit inspection prior to you exit inspection to contest issues or fix it yourself. Otherwise you are signing up for daylight robbery.

I can only give Rawson properties 1 star! I rented my flat here for the first time . Just as I used to do in my old home country = including additional costs . I was warned by frinds that this is not a good thing in SA culture . You were rigth . I really won't do it again! I was not happy with the agency ! The flat is for 1 person they mostly brougth 2 couples. Such visits were a completed waste of time . I have now found a reputable tenant without an agency ! Rawson sold our house in July. They were friendly and helpful and very professional. They took excellent pictures and maintained strict COVID protocols. They showed the house to potential buyers, but selectively and with as little inconvenience to us as possible. We essentially got the asking price they suggested (which was above our expectations) and it sold within 10 days! We are delighted with their service and would strong recommend them to anyone. In fact, we did! Neighbours struggled to sell their house (next door) for two months before we convinced them to try Rawson and two weeks later is was sold.

In terms of there rental apartment, and maintenance on rentals they bring very little value. The are slow to respond to communication and overall not where they should be. I will not recommend there service as rentals agent to anyone. 2 Months after writing this review and having a meeting with them addressing my concerns, I am back to square one. I stick to this review. They can not deliver rental service. Once my contract end with them I will not use Rawson again, they might have a big name but they don't own up to it.

We are renting a property through them and I work for myself, so money is not always available on the first as they would like it. I pay rent before the 7th of every month. Rawson sends me TPN credit alerts by the third already and it is messing up my credit record. would not suggest to anyone to work through them.
