Update: The troublesome bike repair guy is now long gong. I've had great service since then. Patient, friendly staff despite it being busy and repairs done when they say they will be. Bike shops are MOSTLY the same, there's good moments and bad moments everywhere, so I never thought I'd be writing a bad review for a place that I SHOULD patronize due to it being so close to me. Who wants to push a bike half an hour with a flat or other problem? But it looks like I will have to. I brought my partners bike in for flat fix and to come back in half an hour. So I walked around for half an hour and then when I came to pick it up I and was told there were a bunch of other problems. Ok that happens. My partner doesn't do much upkeep. But it would have been nice to have gotten a call (they took my cell number). So I waited outside in COVID winter for another half an hour. I plunked down $100. Mechanic proceeded to tell me how to oil and upkeep the bike, despite my saying twice it was NOT MY BIKE. I pushed the bike back home (I can't ride the thing.) The next day my partner went to go to work and the tire was flat, the same tire we took in for a fix. I couldn't take it back that day. The next day there was a LOT of snow and I thought "Should I bring it in? Will they be open?" I pushed it back. No one there. Waited 20 min. No one showed up. Ok. My fault, it's snowy, should have called. Pushed it the next day. Said nicely "Oh I tried to bring it yesterday but you were closed". Mechanic said angrily "we're open on Saturdays". "Well you weren't open when I was there during opening hours." Ok whatever. But to fix the bike, Mechanic put a tube that didn't fit the tire... he also told me that OTHER tubes he'd put in had been USED (when I got home I looked at the bill, and yes, they charged me for two new tubes)... Ok this is all weird but whatever (supply chain issues? I have no idea). The bike is fixed... right? Pushed it home. My partner rode it and was complaining how weird and unsafe it felt. It was the tire with the wrong size tube. It's winter, you don't want to feel unsafe on your bike. But what are you going to do to get to work? THEN, thinking the tire was underflated, my partner began inflating and then BLEW out the tube (and apparently messed up the new tire that was just put on) That was the last straw. Partner hasn't ridden since... So no. While the guy at the counter is nice and friendly the Mechanic is not, I'd had one or two other interactions with him previous to this one. Charging me for used tubes, putting on a tube that's not the right size, mansplaning, lying about being open... it's just too much. I'll be pushing bikes half an hour from now on :(
Had an incredible experience getting my bike here! Matt, Noah, and the entire team were so helpful and knowledgeable throughout the process. I ended up falling off my bike recently and went back to ask them to fix up something on my bike that got loose due to the fall. They did it and also gave my bike a look over to make sure it wasn’t damaged. Even nicer, they helped my husband tighten his seat despite his bike being from another shop (due to low inventory at the time as the spring time makes bikes sell fast), which was also just an incredibly sweet thing to do. They were so professional, knowledgeable, and kind. I’ll definitely be coming back for all my bike-related needs! Thank you :)
Great customer service from Victor, his attention to detail, knowledge about the product and passion for biking made this experience of looking for a large frame & hybrid bike on a Sunday very pleasant. No tricks or upseling, very focused on your needs and budget. They had affordable second hand bikes 20% off this weekend. Getting ready for summer! I would recommend to follow their IG since they post almost daily new second hand fixed bikes, better up to date than the website. @rideawaybikes
I went in looking for a winter beater bike and found exactly what I needed. It was my lucky day, used bikes were 40% off :-). Nothing fancy, just fully functional transport for well under $200. The guys fixed me up with some used fenders and a rack, $20 each, including a handful of nuts and bolts to get them mounted. After adding some studded tires from Kijiji, I am ready for whatever winter can throw at me.
replaced my flat tire for half the price of other bike shops in toronto and did all the work for free ($30) feb 2023 - replaced flat tire for same price, replaced brake pads and did a bit of a tune up by fixing my wobbly seat, lubing chain, etc for $10 extra. these guys are the best in the junction in my opinion and most affordable. will be coming back as long as I live in this area
The boys in the shop were super sweet. Squeezed me in for a flat repair super quick before the shop closed (so many bike shops in the city have long turn around times and I need my bike for everything!). Super professional, quick and cheap. Out of my neighbourhood but would go out of my way to go back to this shop. Thanks guys appreciate you!
Awesome service. So grateful that they spared me an expensive tune-up by doing a quick pre-assessment which determined only my gears needed a bit of work. Another time I went in and they were out of stock of the lube I wanted to buy, but just applied a bit of their’s pro bona in the interim. Friendly and knowledgeable.
I was having problems installing my gatorskin tires and the kind gentlemen of Ride Away Bikes helped me with no hesitation. It only took them less than 5 minutes to mount the tires and the best part is they didn't charged me anything. One of the friendliest local bike shops in the city and has one of the best service.
Had a tire blowout on my commute home literally right beside the shop on Dupont. Store was closed but one of the bike guys was inside working on stuff. He generously offered to help and within half an hour I was back on my bike riding home with a new tire and tube. Thanks to Victor for going above and beyond. Cheers!
Can’t thank these guys enough for taking the time to make my wife’s bike a special buy. She was super surprised coming to get it and it’s everything she wanted. Thank you so much for keeping such a high standard in customer service, really appreciate the quality bike at the fair price, just a huge win all round.
Jason and his team were extremely helpful when I was looking to buy a new bike. Jason walked me through several different options in my budget and checked in after each test ride along the rail path. They provided a quick turnaround on the final tune up and I am thrilled with the new ride! Thanks guys!!
Very poor customer service. Extremely rude employees. When I called to ask if they fix bikes the response was “and what does that mean to you.” When I visited in person, another shopper was yelled at for lifting his own bike off of a rack. Will never be coming back
I have had luck with ride away. Great service and selection on the two purchases ..... I got my dad and myself single speeds and now I got my daughter her first bike from here too. Great service, location is perfect and price was fair. Can't ask for anything more !
I had a great experience picking up a used bike here. They let me take the bikes for a spin along a lovely nearby trail. Dan was really nice and helped me check my brakes and install my accessories before I rolled out.
Extremely poor customer service. Inattentive to special needs and situations. Worker was pleasant but indifferent to my problems or special needs. Will not stop by to repair or buy. Don’t recommend that you do either.
I spent forever trying to change my pedal. The crank arm threading was really stripped. I went to ride away thinking I needed a whole new crank set. The got my pedal on and sent me on my way no charge! Thanks guys!
Very friendly, great service and fair prices. Brought in my bike with a flat tire, they were able to sort it out within the hour and also give my bike a quick inspection. Was very happy with the service.
Great group of individuals with a nice selection of bikes. Extremely helpful making sure you get the right bike, also they care alot about recycling old parts which is awesome!
The best! Everyone I've encountered here has been friendly and helpful. I had a small issue with my bike today and Rodney fixed it on the spot. Would recommend.
Great people, great service and selection. Purchased my first road bike from them and loving the ride. Fortunate to have this spot as my local bike shop.
Very friendly and knowledgeable Good selection of quality used parts to save a few bucks Victor was very patient and helpful Will be back
Un buen lugar para traer tu bicicleta a arreglar. Precios justos y cotización justa. El personal es amable y dispuesto a ayudarte.
Was suffering from chain tension issues which Adam resolved accurately and efficiently. Great place to get your bike tuned up!
Great experience using them multiple times. Always have time to explain things in detail to me and ready very quickly.
I had an awesome experience with Noah back in April. He's so friendly!! I love Ride Away Bikes!
Fixed my flat tire in 25 minutes and were super fast and kind! Highly recommended 10/10
Really slow service didn’t bother to even access the bike I brought in to fix useless
