On my first, second and third presentation at Rosebud Hospital, I was impressed by their quality of care, and professionalism. These presentations to Rosebud Emergency where for physical problems, and resulted in quick and effective treatment. HOWEVER.. when I presented just yesterday because I was concerned about the potential of having Lithium toxicity based on my symptoms and presentation. Having a diagnosis of bipolar, lithium toxicity is a serious condition that needs to be treated with expediency. I was shocked when denied further treatment for my condition which required them writing a 2 days prescription because my Psychiatrist had not sent my original prescription in time for the weekend. I thought that my reasoning for entering Emergency was more then valid, however when I ended up becoming subject to, was something totally different. I was insulted by the register for being too pushy because I asked questions relating to prescribing capacity of a register, and he denied the fact that he is a registrar, claiming he was fully educated in Emergency Medicine. I later was told that this doctor was not in fact fully trained as a Emergency medicine specialist and was still studying to complete his post graduate. I ceased talking about this, and he left my room saying that he was going to talk and bring to me his Supervisor. After some time waiting, I walked over to the office, and to my absolute shock. I saw and heard the registrar and supervising doctor laughing about something I had said. I was so insulted given that I expect the highest level of professionalism from clinicians that i interrupted their laughter and stated that I had clearly heard and could see what they were doing. As the room was filled with nursing staff and another doctor they didn’t try to deny what they had been doing. I was so distraught that after confronting them, I ran back to my room, in the effort of not wanting them say anything even more nasty if I had continued to stay there. Within minutes the senior doctor who was the one laughing at something I said/did came into my room, closed the door, and told me how I should behave if I was going to be prescribed my normal medication that I had run out of, which is essential to my medication regime. Being Bipolar, you can escalate or elevate very quickly, so minimising the high is essential in early intervention. I very much needed it for the weekend until I could speak with my specialist on Monday. After this experience with the senior doctor on staff at the time, I was so rattled and scared that they would continue to bully me until they felt satisfied that they had completed their job, and because I was so fearful for my person safety, that I made a quick decision between waiting and allowing them to continue to do whatever they may have wanted to do, or get out of the situation because I felt so unsafe and it was my opportunity to RUN! I Ran, I didn’t want to look back on the experience and regret not getting out when it was safe for me to exit the hospital. I wasn’t an admitted patient, so I took that opportunity and ran with it. Cried all the way home, and continued when I reached home. I never thought that doctors felt that it was acceptable to bully, discrimate, lie about their qualifications, and abuse their power over patients/sick people. It’s something that really affected me to the core. And because they didn’t give me my medication, I had to work out how I could manage myself medically until I can contact my specialist on Monday. These sorts of things need to be spoken more widely. The ethics of doctors particularly in government jobs is unfortunately not of the best quality. Having that I’ve worked in Government in HR, I understand that point where doctors are on the brink of mal-practice, and a lot of this happens between closed doors.
Two reasons why I've been here, there is a bus stop(788) directly out the front of hospital. Also I've been a few times for medical help and covid test at hospital. First of all like with any other hospital there is a wait to seek medical treatment, apart from that Rosebud hospital is a great place with wonderful friendly and intelligent staff. Every time I've been I've been correctly helped and left happy. I recall one time I woke up at home with a very itchy arm, when I looked I noticed two fang marks which I assumed it was done by a spider while I was sleeping. I quickly got dressed and walked to the hospital, when I spoke to the doctor and showed him my arm he also thought it was a spider bite but neither of us knew what type so he gave me antibiotics and told me to try not scratching my arm. The next day the itching feeling had gone but the wound was looking a bit horrible as the wound grew in size. Luckily I had enough antibiotics for two weeks and they did work and no scar was left on my arm so I was happy with the help and medication. I absolutely recommend this hospital.
Overall 3 stars. First experience was awful, the hospital ED was apparently “flat out”, and I could not be seen from the evening till early-mid morning. “Asymptomatic”, individuals were treated before me, as I was kept waiting in my condition. Was told I won’t be seen for a “long time” and sent home with a few pharmaceuticals, without seeing a doctor. Second visit, the following day, I was admitted into ED immediately upon my return. Questions were asked as to why I wasn’t seen the previous day in ED… baffling. This visit, I received exceptional care from nurses and doctors. Appropriate tests were completed and I was satisfied with the level of care, treatment and approach of all staff during this encounter. Thank you for the care that you provided on this occasion. Staffing/resourcing seems to be problematic during busier periods. This makes me wonder what will be the case in the peak of summer with increased tourist numbers to the Mornington Peninsula? This needs to improve.
Waited 4 and a half hours long as they deemed my partners case unimportant even though she was unable to drink water or eat food for an entire day with chronic pain in her abdomen. Only after reminding the triaging nurse several times did we get a bed. When we finally got a bed we had a nurse named Sue who kept leaving snarky remarks at my partner. My partner was dehydrated as she physically could not drink water and the nurse kept complaining that she couldn’t find her veins because she doesn’t drink enough water, she was also quite rough with the IV which left strong bruising. Does she complain every single time someone needs drips due to being dehydrated?. The doctors Kevin Phang and one other lady were brilliant. Jody, Roslyn and Aimee at emergency were all fantastic and treated my partner with respect and compassion. I understand it’s an emergency room but a little compassion and respect goes a long way.
My wife and I have both been treated by the wonderful caring Nurses, Doctors,Surgeons and staff at the Rosebud Hospital with out any complaints whatsoever. They are all dedicated people who enjoy looking after their patients and could not be more polite.During the Summer holiday period the Emergency Department is extremely busy and all the staff are run off their feet caring for patients. What makes it frustrating for genuine patients who need to be attended to asap is the selfish dumb idiots who don’t understand what the word Emergency stands for and waiste Doctors and Nurses valuable time taking up beds with a stubbed Toe or some other pathetic excuse,so stay home and toughen up and keep away from Hospitals.
My 96 year old mum was taken to rosebud hospital with a broken leg .. she was in agony I found all the staff to have excellent interpersonal skills, showed empathy they were the kind of people you would want around an unwell loved one I especially loved the doctor Meredith she had a wonderful bedside manner, was clear in articulating the issues facing my mum and immediately set about making mums move to her hospital of choice, Cabrini , happen with a minimum of fuss and organised a surgeon.. It was good to hear my mother say I think this is the nicest hospital I have ever been in, the staff are so lovely and caring Well done rosebud hospital
The team in the Rosebud Hospital casualty ward are absolutely sensational. The care, compassion and friendliness offered was so nice and calming .I witnessed this crew connecting with every person that came through the door and make each and every patient (and the accompanying friend or family)feel comfortable during a stressful time. A special thank you to the volunteer lady who meets and greets and adds a bit of fun to the visit.I think some private hospitals could learn a bit from this great team. 5 stars is not enough, this team deserves 10
I have been to Rosebud hospital many times this time was for kidney stones, the Triage nurse was the same one as 14 yrs ago and she’s was rude then and rude now. After the promise of a scan and pain control, the later I got the former not. I was moved to short stay, 4hrs later still no scan and no sign of the stones I was released. Today I had to waste the GPS time and go and get a scan privately……. Due to Rosebuds laziness I will be $500 out of pocket and wasted everyone’s time. Well done Rosebud you’ve done it again.
I have had nothing but good experiences here at the Rosebud hospital both in emergency and as a short stay patient. Emergency staff are caring, even the student doctors are knowledgeable. One thing that is always pleasent here is the community voulenteers that still make the rounds around the hospital offering tea coffee and a chat, where do you still get that at a hospital....here. Just wanted to say thank you to all the staff and voulenteers that have made mine and other experiences here memorable.
Had a good experience here even though the wait time was nearly three hours. It's a small hospital so I expected to have to wait somewhat. Doctors were very helpful and helped ease the pain I was in at the time. (Thanks guys)! If you can get to a bigger hospital I would suggest Frankston only because wait time but if you're ok with waiting this hospital is local and convenient for everyone down this side of the peninsula in an emergency.
how could u be so cruel and send a middle aged women home with that much pain and agony, she couldnt keep any foods down her stomach and on top u misdiagnosed her and when she was diagnosed she was given the wrong meds. my brother had to drive 2 hrs away to pick her up and take her to the austin hospital so they can give her the proper care she needs. its so sick you made my poor mother suffer for over a week. shame on you all
My father in law had many visits to Rosebud hospital before his passing on November 13 last year. He was always expertly taken care of by the staff there. I was particularly impressed during his final days where not only he was taken care of in a dignified and respectful manner, but our family was treated with the utmost compassion and care too. My gratitude to the staff on Walker's ward.
Waited over 4 hrs just to get someone to check my daughter's ear. Literally a 1 minute exercise and ended up walking out after being told it wasn't severe enough on the scale! I get that it's not classed as severe, however to make you wait so long for a procedure which would have had us on our way within under 5 minutes, very poor and had a child that was sobbing out of pure frustration.
Went here today after being referred by my GP. I got there at a quiet time, but was definitely a better experience than I've had at Frankston emergency. I was seen to straight away after presenting myself. The wait for tests and results was about 5 hours but the attention I received was very good. The staff were also very friendly and caring and could have a joke with them
On advice from my doctor and cardiologist I was told to attend emergency due to high blood pressure of 195/78. Nursing staff excellent but I waited from 6.40pm to 6.20am to be seen by a doctor who then informed me basically he could not assist unless I had an episode such as stroke. Unbelievable! Could have been told this much earlier without waiting for over 11 hours.
I delivered my husband to the Rosebud Hospital with abdominal pain Sunday afternoon 12/2/22. The attention and care he received from the two gentlemen checking our Covid Status at the front door when we presented to the triage nurses and clinicians was nothing less than excellent. Thank you for your humanity and care Rosebud Hospital staff! Agnes Z.
Now, this is a hospital. Sure it's not one of the big ones, but it services the tourist destination of the Peninsula very well. Apart from wait times (to be expected), they are always professional, kind, considerate, professional and thorough. Rest assured, the Nurses Drs and Hospital staff are working from the heart for your best outcome. Truly.
Hopeless in experienced staff ....family member had pressure on brain after spinal cord surgery....would not listen manager a bully.... Insisted she went back to Alfred Hospital were a shunt was put in brain....very sick girl. They did not have experience and were belligerent......hopeless .....they treated us with contempt...hopeless
Rosebud hospital is the most caring and helpful hospital that my mum has every been in. From ED to Walker ward the nursing staff and doctors and tea lady's and cleansers were just amazing. This hospital is so caring and go out of their way to make sure everything was ok. THANK you to everyone that looked after my mum. …
Like all public and free Australian hospitals it can be hard to be seen straight away. Resources are tight and this hospital is tiny compared to Frankston. The nurses and doctors are all absolutely lovely and the level of care and kindness is amazing. It's a free hospital, be patient and you will be taken care of..
Arrived at emergency department with bleeding to the groin after having surgery. The nurse at the reception heard me explain my condition and instantly rushed me through to a bed a began to apply pressure to the area.Mańy thanks For the quick response for a man in slight panic mode.Brilliant staff
Yet a small regional hospital. It provides state of the art health services with 24 hour experienced emergency staff, radiology with a new CT scan machine, general medicine ward and day surgery. Caring for a wide range of the Mornington peninsula population from really infancy to geriatrics.
I had a personal friend taken to Rosebud Hospital by ambulance. Everyone from the Ambulance crew, Doctors, Nursing staff and Volunteers made the experience as stress free as possible. They should all be proud of the level of care and professionalism that was given. Many thanks for your care.
Some Staff not all require compassion lessons as members of the public only go to a hospital when they are not well. That means that their not feeling very well. Some staff not all at Rosebud Hospital don't seem to get this message or they missed the memo...sad but very true.
I find the hospital practices for my mother Trisha Hook to be incredibly caring, and genuine. My mother had a nasty fall, and has been attended to in all the ways caring, nurturing and loving. I thank you and appreciate all you do at Rosebud hospital ~ thank you thank you
I would like to point out the great care I received at the Rosebud Hospital the staff from Dr to cleaning staff were fantastic in careing for me in my short stay, I think they were the best ever if you have to go to Hospital this the best place to be, thank you again.
Over the last week i have had occasion to go on two separate nights. The staff from the front counter to all of emergency are some of the best for care and symphony I've come across thankyou to you all you need to have the highest praise Wayne
Terrible good medical but got threatened that they would ring dhsbbecause I left my 13th y.o son there whileni ran my other son 2 home to my parents 2 min away wasn't even offered food or drink for my son age 13 at 6.30.pm at night
Extremely helpful and caring staff. Felt like we were being treated by cousins that owned the hospital :) Great knowledge, compassionate and the teddy bears made by volunteers really made my toddlers very happy. Highly recommend.
Not only do you have to wait hours to be seen because there is only one doctor majority of the time but reception is hands down rude! I wasnt even in there for a minute and i got treated like i was the size of an ant.
really good emergency room, doesn't take long and very caring staff. The volunteer workers are just wonderful, they ask you if you want drinks, food or a blanket. the are very observant of you and care for you.
It was a very long wait however it was new years day and apparently the busiest day of the year. The staff were working tirelessly. Dispite some rude people the staffs bedside manna was caring and professional.
Obviously had to come here for a reason and the reception and level of thoroughness can't be compared. Thank you for looking after me, everyone there is amazing and you have a kind sense of care as a team.
Been treated better & got more conversation out of my local butcher. The doctors were good at their job, but that's about as good as my experience went. I wouldn't go there again for a bandaid.
Wouldnt take my dog if it was dying here, I was ignored for hours why I was the only patient in emgerancy for over 2 hours! Pathetic dogs over 4 hours of waiting to not even get helped.
I Had an accident whilst on holidays and the team in the Emergency Department especially Gail Van Summeren. The team were very attentitive and maybe a bad situation the best it could be
Doesn't give some people the same care and attention as others with the same issues. Horrible experience, won't be returning. Go to frankston hospital if you really need the help!
After a recent visit to emergency I could not fault service or waiting time first class, this was not the first time we have had to use rosebud hospital they do great job
