Rubber roofs are great, but I would encourage you not to choose this company - they are not worth the fuss. My wife and I did a lot of research about roofs and sat down with several companies in preparation for installation. We were happy with two companies and asked Safe Roofing (the more expensive option) if they would come down in price since we knew it could be done for less. Same quality. Same product, but we liked Mimi and they seemed to have more experience with the roofing. They basically matched the price. The roof was installed and we were so far happy. However, come winter, we discovered that rubber roofs do not hold the snow. Wow! All our snow slid off the roof in big sections. We were scared for our kids (if they had been outside when the snow slid) and the snow pulled off some of our vent covers. We were left wondering why this wasn't explained to us and why snow guards hadn't been encouraged. We knew snow guards were an option, but they had not been encouraged. Not having snow guards on a rubber roof in Edmonton appears to be quite dangerous, and we do not feel this danger was explained at all We were in touch with Ben and Mimi to call them on their lack of clarity about the snow guards. We asked for what still seems to us as a fair deal that they and we split the cost of the snow guards. To be clear, this was not to gouge them, but to give them a chance to make it right. They initially did not listen to us at all and said absurd things like "oh, your house must have gotten more snow than the others" - as if we have our own weather system. We live in Edmonton!! We get snow!! We are a very standard 1950s Edmonton bungalow in a very standard neighbourhood. They told us we should just pay for snow removal. Then they wrote to say that our roof was not even fit for snow guards. It was clear they were just trying to evade responsibility. If any of this were true, that would have been important information to share with us at the outset. We explained that we would have paid up-front for the snow guards if we had know what an issue it is. We were patient through their lack of listening and after they had cooled down, Mimi wrote us a kind and understanding letter and agreed to the terms. Ok, very good. We worked on the design and everything seemed to be tracking along through the Spring months. I had some communication with Mimi in the last few weeks and she notified us that the snow guards had been ordered and we would book a time for installation. Until today. Ben called me tonight to explain that he would no longer honor the agreement we had with Mimi and that we were being unreasonable. This story began with us giving Safe Roof a chance to make things right, and it ended with us being told in heated tones that we were out to lunch and being lectured about internal costs. Not what I signed up for. If I was being unreasonable Ben, don't lecture me, make me a counter offer. I am not an unreasonable person and I was not trying to gouge you. I think your roof work was good, but you forgot to mention a key part. We had an agreement with your colleague to remedy this oversight. I am sorry if your communication is poor with her, that is not my problem. You have broken trust with your partner and with me. You called leaving a Google review blackmail. It is not blackmail. I am disappointed and wish to save others from becoming likewise. What other recourse would I have? My wife and I are left wishing we had just gone with the other, cheaper, more reasonable company. Learn from us. Just avoid Safe Roof. Not worth the fuss or the money. We are left now with a very expensive and unsafe roof: large sheets of snow slide off and leave damage to our roof system and endanger our children. Re the response below. Thanks Mimi. I had the pleasure of dealing with the good people at Safe Roofing to get my roof reshingled. Due to several factors on my end, I was unable to be there when they came to do the visual inspection, or even when the work was being done. But they earned my trust to do the job, and Mimi was wonderful, very quick in replying to all communication, which was reassuring. Mimi answered all of my questions, and gave me confidence that I was in good hands with this company. All the positive reviews here also set my mind at ease, since I wouldn't be there to meet them and oversee the work. The process they use to get a quote was easy, and the quote I got was actually lower than I had expected. Although the actual cost of the job was more than the original quote (because the roof area was larger than the original estimate), I feel like I paid a fair price for the work that was done. They also didn't charge me any extra for a couple of small repairs that needed to be done to the roof deck as they couldn't get into the attic during the inspection to give me a quote on that part of the job. Ben and his team were in and out in one day, and the work they did was very well done. Mimi sent me a picture of the completed roof after they were finished, since I was not there. I am extremely happy with the new roof. It looks great! They also did an excellent job of cleaning up after themselves, other than the new roof you couldn't even tell they were there. I would definitely recommend Safe Roofing to anyone who is looking to get their roof reshingled. We moved to a 20 years old house knowing the roof needs to be replaced. I started working on the project and received 5 quotes from selected contractors. Fortunately, we chose Safe Roofing to replace our roof. The price was aligned, pretty much, with everyone else. However, we looked at a few roofs done, or in process to be replaced, by Safe Roofing and we were impressed by both, the quality of their work and the duration. Their sales manager was very responsive, answered all our questions and built the trust needed. The roof was replaced in two days and the quality of the workmanship was outstanding. The whole venting system was replaced, the gutters cleaned, repairs made and the place around the house left spotless. I strongly recommend Safe Roofing as a very reliable, professional, skilled and high quality contractor. The work is done and supervised by the owner of the company rather than outsourced to sub-contractors; that approach had many positives, so we are very pleased with the new roof.

Original review below, I contacted Safe roofing looking to replace the shingles on my roof, I also had questions in regards to the Soffits and Fascia. Both the owners met me at my house on a Sunday to discuss all the options, then when my wife arrived a little late they redid most of the presentation for her as well. They came well prepared and were very knowledgeable. Once we agreed to hire them they came back, again on a Sunday, to do the attic inspection. Fast forward a few months the materials were delivered on the roof with advance notice and the work was completed within the time frame given and done exceptionally well, all with advance notice given so we knew when to expect them. I am very happy with the work they did and will definitely recommend them in the future.

So my new roof started with a leak coming into the ceiling light in my study. I called a few companies before I settled for safe roofing to come and help fix my roof. They were friendly knowledgeable and made me feel reassured that my problem would be solved and that getting a new roof would not be too problematic in my little old house. I was given a quote which was very accurate not only for the initial repair job to fix the leak but for the new roof as well. We were lucky to come across Safe Roofing, and Mimi & Ben were amazing to work with and discuss our needs and get the paperwork in place. Mimi and Ben with Safe Roofing are amazing. They reshingled our roof and garage three years ago and were amazing the whole time, going out of their way to communicate effectively, provide options, and be flexible with our schedule. Recently our brick chimney started deteriorating, causing a leak, and even though it wasn't "his job" Ben came by to look at the roof and in our attic, and he patched a crack in the chimney for us. All this was no cost. Once we figured out the chimney was the issue, Mimi made very quick arrangements to schedule its demolition and replacing of the roof and shingles. At a very reasonable cost, they did all this work within one week. Needless to say I am very impressed and would highly recommend this company to anyone.

We recently had a roof replaced by another roofing company, however we have had some leak issues. I asked Safe Roofing to come out to provide a second opinion on the leak issue. Ben and Mimi were very responsive as demonstrated by answering the initial phone call late on Canada Day evening and by coming out a couple days later to assess the problem. Not pet friendly. My family used this company to redo their roof and during the "removal" process there was debris that fell into our neighbors yard including nails. When this was mentioned, along with the fact that the neighbors had a dog, we were met with a response that they'd fix it. The next time there was additionally debris left and nothing done to clean it up. We had to clean up old and new debris to keep the neighborly peace. Disappointing. For the actually quality of the roof, it ended up being two different shades as they didn't order enough to do the entire roof.

Contacted Safe Roofing for a quote to replace the old shingle, and they came out quickly to explain what the quote included. Most of companies I have contacted just gave me an email quote without any further explanation. My timeline to get the roof done had changed and Mimi and Ben were very accommodating. We had a rubber roof installed about 5 years ago and had issues with ice/snow slipping off the roof during freeze/thaw cycles. I contacted the original contractor who was unwilling to correct the problem. Ben was installing our neighbour's roof and I approached him about the issue we were having. He very willingly installed some ice guards in the most troublesome areas and voila! problem solved. As an aside, several neighbours have had Safe Roofing install rubber roofs and they look fantastic. I would not hesitate to recommend this company
