I have never left a negative google review before, and disappointed that this has to be my first… Initially I was happy to get an appointment so quickly, the day I called I had several options for that same week. Lol once your been here you will understand why they are not busy… even tho they only have 2 colour stylists! Desiree did a good job with my cut. However she did her own thing during my colour appointment didn’t listen to what I wanted and definitely did not do it or communicate what she was doing. She later made a bunch of excuses which confirmed she did not listen to what I asked. She also upped the price on me from what the site said. I left somewhat confused why she could not do as I asked. I had a fellow stylist confirmed the next morning, that what I wanted WAS in fact possible considering my hair history on the FIRST attempt!! So clearly my stylist was either uneducated or trying to get more appointments and money out of me. When I call the next morning to POLITELY speak to the owner Michelle(who was away during my visit) I was told she doesn’t take calls. After talking to both staff members who were rude and super dramatic about it. I politely insisted to speak with the owner to see if this could be resolved, as I never want to judge a company by the attitude of the staff. The owner is just as bad and has a lot of Ego she was SUPER rude, didn’t listen at all claiming her salon is ‘the best’. Michelle told me to go to a different salon to fix what her ‘senior’ stylist had done. I would have been embarrassed to act in such a way if I was her. When you spend almost $400 on you hair you want to be happy with results. And she has not refunded to my card what the stylist overcharged. Once she has your money, she does not care about you. They pretend they care about clients in their reply’s to the 1 star reviews, but they most definitely DO NOT!

Edit: I don't seem to be able to add in a response to the business replying to me. With that, I'll state it here - I emailed my stylist directly through an email they provided which was not responded to. The call I made was to the salon directly. So yes, I contacted the business in two ways and was ignored. This review is for the second time I went to this salon. The first time, I had a simple haircut done, and overall, the service and cut were satisfactory. This happened back in June, but it's still bugging me with how everything happened. I went in for a haircut, and at the time, all went well. Once the stylist was finished and everything was styled, I really loved how it looked! However, after going home and washing it, I realised the front face framing layers were uneven and much thicker than I had hoped for. I contacted them by email, and we arranged a revision. Unfortunately, the day before the appointment, I had a last-minute schedule change with work and was going to be unable to make my appointment. I called, left a voicemail, and emailed to let them know. It was a very last-minute cancelation, which I feel awful about, but I figured I would just be responsible for covering a cancelation fee, which would have been fine. I never heard back from them, which was odd, but I just let it go. Then, despite the stylist knowing I didn't like the haircut, she went and posted it to her Instagram. Overall, I'm just really frustrated with the service or the lack of service that I received. There was never any resolution or attempt for them to reach me again.

I have had my share of bad experiences at hair salons, particularly because I have curly hair and sometimes I've had people lop off a lot more hair than I've asked for (which isn't fun when it comes to curly hair... my hair when dry is 2x shorter than when wet). Not just that, my last experience at my previous hair salon was a 4 hour long excursion (and I had just wanted a wash, cut and blowdry!), with me waiting with wet hair while my stylist cheerfully coloured a walk-in's hair. It looks like I won't be having those kinds of experiences again. I called Salon 130 on a whim because I was leaving work early and had an appointment near the salon. They scheduled me for a same-day appointment (usually hard to come by downtown) with Vince, one of their newer stylists. Although he's new to Salon 130, Vince has had many, many years of training and has worked at Rinaldo's for several years. First off - I arrived a few minutes early. Vince took me in right away, not even wasting a minute to greet me and to ask whether I'd like a beverage. I was very impressed with Vince's ability to cut my hair to my liking: he was very sure to ask me how much I wanted cut off, and which side I part my hair to ensure that the layers were cut in properly. He also gave me the best blowout I've ever had! Looks like I've found my new hairstylist! Thank you Vince and the excellent crew at Salon 130, and see you in a few months!

Update: I hate to be this person to post a negative review but my second experience at this salon was surprisingly not a good experience. I booked an appointment 2 weeks in advance and yet I was still waiting almost an hour past the time I was booked for. I felt so disappointed arriving to my appointment early because I value their time, only to feel like they don't value my time. I would understand if it was just a walk-in but I booked this appointment way in advance. I would have even at least appreciated it if they told me it would take a longer wait. They are nice and good at what they do but good service also values the client's time. I've been to busier salons that took me in on time. I will never return to Salon130. --------- From the moment I entered the salon, I felt welcomed and was offered something to drink. The whole staff was super friendly and looked really happy to be there. I had my hair cut by Lydia who did an awesome job on my hair. I came in not knowing what I wanted to do with my hair and she knew what would be best for it. She was also very nice to chat with and was very knowledgeable as I kept asking questions about hair. She gave me a lot of tips on what I can do to make my hair healthier and genuinely wanted to help me be happy with my hair.

I came into Salon 130 to have a consult with Angie, after an absolutely horrible experience at another salon. I was so upset and disappointed that I refused to wear my hair down. Angie promised she could fix it, and she came through! What I had originally wanted, after never having dyed my hair before, was a low key balayage (my natural colour into an ashy brown/blond cool tone). What I got was 3/4 of my hair bleached blond (way too blond) and was sent on my way. I made the mistake of going to a salon that clearly had no idea what they were doing, and I truly regret not finding out about Salon 130 to begin with. Angie sat me down and explained to me her game plan. I showed her some photos of new colour styles that maybe we could get my hair to, and she was honest and upfront with me from the start. She explained why it wouldn't look what I was looking for at this point, (hair too far dyed)but fully explained what she was going to do to fix it. She worked really hard to correct it, and it turned out amazing. I would highly recommend going to Angie and the team at Salon 130. They were very accommodating and Angie was an absolute gem! She worked her magic and fixed my hair. I love it now!

I went for a hair cut at this place and Michelle did my hair cut. I find this place very unprofessional and rude. Michelle was very rude and made me feel bad about having long hair with volume. She kept saying it’s taking her too long to cut my hair but isn’t this her job??? To cut hair?? I mean this is what I was paying her for not that she was doing my hair for free. I really did not like the atmosphere there. This place has no respect for their customers and I heard the staff making fun of their customers. After my hair cut each of the staff members came one by one to see how much hair they cut and passed a comment. I was treated very badly. I will never go back to this place. At last when I was leaving they told me next time they will add extra $30 to any service I decide to do there because I have long hair with volume. Is that no illegal?? How can you ask that to a customer and make them feel horrible about themselves just because you guys are so immature and unprofessional to run this business. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go to this place as they don’t respect their customers and treat them well

After reading reviews and hearing a few recommendations I decided to give Salon 130 a try, and take advantage of the 50% voucher I received. I had Lydia and she was very sweet, honest and was very knowledgeable. She was great at explaining what she was doing and what the products would do for my hair, and she put the quality of my hair first - all of which I really appreciated! One thing I will say is that my appointment took almost 3.5 hours for balayage. I omitted getting my hair cut because I had plans that I had to rush to. I don’t blame Lydia whatsoever - it seems like the salon was overbooked and everyone had a crazy day. When I got home I noticed my hair was not parted down the middle; it was kind of all over the place (very minor thing though - it’s something I can easily fix) and my hair felt really greasy from the products used in my hair. I’m very happy with the colour of my hair overall, but I think I would have been happier if the colour went higher up into my roots, which is what brought me to book the appointment. I definitely think I’ll return though, and hopefully on a less busy day :)

When I saw more of Shannon G's work, I felt instantly excited to book with Salon130. We all have different perceptions of what our "perfect" colour is and I have been wanting to go darker from my usual blonde/ombre that I've always had. Not only was she really awesome company but I couldn't be happier with the outcome of my hair. She could see how happy I was leaving the salon - literally glowing. That's a pretty special moment for a clients/stylist...period. The upkeep is going to be so much more manageable. I brought in my favourite looks and she offered her suggestions and we ended up going with a smoky caramel for the highlight rather than a mushroom. So happy I trusted her on this because the warm/tone she achieved matched my skin tone perfectly. I never thought I could feel "sunkissed" being a brunette. Since I'm here raving about Shannon, time for a quick shoutout to the staff - booking way easy and everyone was really open, friendly and I felt really comfortable in their space. Thank you! Happy to say...I finally found my found my stylist :)

Today was my first experience at Salon 130 and I was really impressed with their professionalism and their outstanding service. I had my hair cut and styled by their Senior Stylist, Desiree, who did an impeccable job with the bob haircut I wanted to have. She was efficient, had an incredible attention to details and was very helful in explaining all the steps in achieving this great haircut, including helping me get the right products and drying techniques. My hair now looks amazing and I am confident I will be able to achieve similar results at home when I'll style my hair. I highly recommend Desiree for any of your hairstyle needs, you will not be disappointed and you are guaranteed to have the hairstyle that best suits you!! She provides very helpful recommendations depending on your hair type. I will definitely go to Salon130 from now on for all my hairstyling needs. Amazing service!

Salon 130 was recommended to me by some friends. After hearing so many great things about Shannon and the salon and seeing the results myself, I decided to schedule an appointment. I haven't looked back! Shannon is truly fantastic. For 6 years I had black, box dyed hair and I really was craving a change to lighten my hair. I knew it would not be a quick process. When I met Shannon, she set realistic goals with me, explained everything in detail and made sure we were always on the same page before starting. She also assured me she would not do anything that she thought would be too damaging to my hair. All this to say, I LOVE the way my hair has turned out and I so pleased! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Visited Salon130 for a partial balayage and cut with Vince late Friday evening and it was undoubtedly the best hair appointment I've ever had. I have a tendency to get very nervous about haircuts and this was my first colour ever. Vince was nothing short of incredible, he was friendly, but patient with my nervousness, he was attentive to what I asked for, and kept me in the loop about what was happening to my hair in each step of the process. I really appreciate that he was not only amazing at his job but he was honest and unapologetic about what looks good and what doesn't, he really puts his craft and your hair first. The salon as a whole is very clean and modern, and the prices are very competitive and reasonable, just an overall great experience. I personally will definitely be back!

When I first started coming here, I had been looking to get a proper balayage for years with no luck at any other salon I had been to. I made an appointment with Desiree about two years ago and she performed some serious magic on my hair! I have dirty blond fine curly hair which can damage very easily if not handled with care. I’ve been going to Desiree for about 2 years now and not once have I left with my curls damaged. She gave me exactly what I asked for, a bright summer blonde balayage, and honestly it was better than I thought my hair could ever look! She was even able to fix a terrible previous highlight attempt on my hair with no trouble. I went back recently and she did an amazing touch up to keep me bright for the spring. Needless to say, I will be sticking with Desiree for a long looong time!

Absolutely OBSESSED with how my hair turns out every time!! Caroline is *magic* when it comes to color and cuts, and I couldn’t recommend her enough!! She always creates the best natural blonde color for my skin tone and blends my balayage flawlessly. I love love that my hair always grows out so naturally and always feel so beautiful after leaving my appointments I’ve tried several salons over the years but nothing comes close to the exceptional work of Caroline and the ladies at Salon130. The salon is also so beautiful and bright, which makes it that much better:) All the ladies at Salon130 are so friendly, talented, and knowledgeable - I wouldn’t put my hair in the hands of anyone else. I'm good friends with the staff now and have been to Salon130 to get my hair done recently :) I personally love that their stylists are beautiful and have a personality along with great hair. Its important to me that the person styling and cutting my hair takes good care of themselves as well. I wouldn't take gym advice from someone that isn't in shape. I'm very glad to see that there are very little if not any negative reviews :) They honestly take good care of me and everyone I've referred. If you have concerns or feel indifferent after, you should honestly tell them on the spot. They go the extra mile to make sure you're happy. If you want to have a good time while sitting down go here, if you're too sensitive don't. Best hair salon in Ottawa by far. Keep it up! See you soon :)

I had never been here before but chose the salon based on reviews. It did not disappoint! I had my balayage done by Angie and it looks exactly like the photos I showed her. She let me know right off the bat what would be a realistic outcome and which photos I showed would be most accurate. I went to a wedding that day in Ottawa, and another wedding the following day in Vancouver, and the curl in my hair lasted perfectly for both weddings (I didn't wash it or have time to touch it up so I'm glad I didn't need to)! The next weekend I was at an upscale salon in Vancouver having my hair styled for my sisters wedding by the expert stylist and he complimented me on my colour, asked where I had it done and kept saying how well done it was. I highly HIGHLY recommend Angie and salon130.

It has taken me a while to find a good hairdresser in town. And I must say, Desiree is absolutely talented. I have naturally thick wavy auburn hair, and not many people know how work with it. Desiree always cuts my hair just how I love it. On top, she was able to recommend hair masks to keep my hair healthy and reduce the frizz. When unsure about permanent hair colour treatments, Desiree was able to recommend different options that made my red tones more vibrant, while deeply nourishing my hair. She is extremely friendly and always honest about the process to get the hair you want. I only go to Desiree with anything color related as I know she does the best job.

What a gem of a place this is! Great staff and cool ambiance! You might wait a few minutes before your appointment but who minds waiting when there is dedicated and attentive staff ready to offer you something to drink and make you feel welcome. Angie, who was just lovely, took care of my hair and she did a wonderful job (see before and after pictures). I definitely recommend this place and will be making it my new go to for all matters hair; was impressed with the variety of products available for purchase. In sum, I found it easy to book, was happy with the service and most importantly for me, the end result concurred with what I had asked for.

A few weeks ago, I went to Salon 130 and was greeted by several friendly, professional staff that did their best to make me comfortable the moment I walked in. After a relaxing hair wash and scalp massage, I got my haircut from Angie, a wonderful hair stylist who knows her craft well. She is friendly with a great personality, and so easy to talk to. She gave me exactly the haircut I asked for and I left with a smile on my face. Best of all not only did my hair cut look good when I left the Salon 130, but with very little daily maintenance it stayed looking great for weeks. I will definitely return to the Salon and see Angie again very soon.

Yesterday was my first time at Salon 130. I just moved to Ottawa and I’ve been looking for a new salon for a while. I called the day of and they took me last minute. I was with Shannon and I had blond highlights and a cut. This is the best experience at a salon I have ever had! The facility was wonderful and Shannon was incredible! Shannon always went the extra mile to make my experience the best, she really put in extra effort to make sure my hair turned out perfectly. I have been coming here for almost 3 years, saw many different stylists and always received professional and amazing service. When I first came in my hair was permanent box dye black and I wanted to go back to my natural light brown hair color with a blonde balayage... my stylish had a good laugh at my wish and was very honest with me explaining that it would take many appointments to get the results I wanted. I trusted her and I am glad I did. My stylish for the past year and a half has been Desiree. The quality of her work is impeccable and every time I leave the salon my hair is better than the last.

Shannon & team are amazing! I am very impressed with the level of professionalism and service that this salon provides. I usually do a root touch up & full balayage with Shannon when I visit. She is a good listener and takes the time to understand what it is exactly that I am envisioning. She pulls out the swatches (this is my favorite part), explains her plan and makes suggestions. I really like this because I know what to expect and I have never left the salon disappointed. She's got a great positive vibe about her. I really enjoy my visits to Salon 130! :)

Going into the haircut I was really nervous. My hair had been incredibly damaged by a relaxer treatment and I was struggling to find what would work with it. However, my hair dresser Bianca resolved everything! She was super nice and incredibly good. Everything she did was precise and her advice was amazing. She even went as far as to line up all the products I need so I could take a picture and have me a detailed procedure of what I should do to replicate the style she did on my own. Best Hair Salon with the most competent and lovely hairstylists!! Caroline is such a talented, amazing and sweet hair stylist. She does the best natural balayages and always transforms my hair the exact way I want. She takes her time to make sure we are on the same page in term of tone, how high I want my balayage to go, etc… Caroline is also super gentle with my fine hair and you can tell she knows what she is doing. The whole team is so fun and I always have a blast. I am so glad I found this hair Salon !

I booked an appointment at Salon 130 on my wife's behalf after her hair was damaged by another hairdresser. The entire experience from start to finish was very professional. Booking an appointment was fast and easy, and the staff was both courteous and receptive towards my wife's expectations. She is extremely happy with how her hair turned out, and the prices are very reasonable considering the small miracles that these girls can perform! I had boxed dyed almost black hair and I’m a natural blond and never in a million years did I think I could go back to the same colour. Shannon was absolutely amazing and worked a miracle in one session! She was so nice and told me everything she was doing . The atmosphere is amazing and the staff is so friendly. I definitely plan on going back and finishing up the style I wanted from Shannon! I will be recommending her to everyone I know!! She’s a miracle worker!!!

I received my first haircut at Salon130 yesterday and I have never been so pleased with a cut in my life! Desiree was wonderful and her experience really shined - I showed her a few pictures of what I had in mind and she was instantly comfortable and enthusiastic with producing exactly what I wanted. I used to hop from salon to salon before, always a little dissatisfied with the results, but no more! I'll happily be coming back in the future. :)

I've been there 5 times now and still haven't really achieved the color I wanted ( pale blonde ) although I have to say Shannon who did my hair is skilled however my last trip there I felt like it was over priced and rushed. I've spent over 2500$ at this salon in the 5 trips I've gone and always gave a good tip . I felt like the owner over charged me for my product last time and I wont go back. If anyone does want to go see Shannon she is good.

I met Desiree at Salon130 in September 2022 and have been a faithful fan ever since. Taking the plunge from brunette to blonde balayage to embrace my grey was scary, but Desiree was just the person to see me through it. Came here for the first time and had my hair done by Desiree! I did not regret trying out a new salon and hairstylist to do my damaged quarantine-boxed-dyed-hair. She turned my orangey, brassy hair to an amazing honey toned colour! She was did an amazing job by saving what I though was a “hopeless, damaged hair” and managed to turn it into something great! Would highly recommend to ask for her next time you get your hair done!

Had an absolutely wonderful cut today at this salon! I had called the same day asking for their earliest appointment, and was slotted for the same afternoon. My stylist seemed new but absolutely nailed my haircut and always checked in throughout the process to make sure it was what I wanted. Everyone who worked there seemed professional and friendly - and it was a wonderful experience. This may very well be my regular go-to now!

I had the absolute best experience with Mel today! My hair was damaged and needed a colour correction and dimension added. She listened to my concerns, shared her ideas and recommended options. She did such an incredible job, is very detail oriented and I left loving my hair. I can’t possibly thank her enough and I recommend her and Salon 130 without hesitation. I will absolutely be back, I’ve found the best stylist in Ottawa.

Between the pandemic and 10 years of highlights I took a break from colouring my hair for a few years. It was nice to see my natural colour but when I restarted I wanted to do something different. In came Dez to offer me a light touch of balayage heading into fall - and soon to be an intense amount of balayage to welcome in spring/summer. She gave me just what I wanted and I expect the same in only a few short weeks.

Shannon is awesome! I came in with a "bad balayage" and she fixed it to look better than I had hoped it would turn out! Salon 130 is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and attentive. Love it! I came in for a cut and balayage and I am LOVING it! Jennifer did an amazing job and really tried to achieve the colour I was going for. She successfully lightened my (very) dark hair and got it looking the way I wanted. I've been to salon 130 multiple times now and I've never been disappointed. The entire team is very sweet and I would recommend this salon to anyone looking to get their hair done!

I got my hair cut by Michelle (the salon owner) before Christmas after being recommended the salon by several coworkers and I can see why after going!! I showed Michelle a picture of the hair style I liked and I swear she had my hair looking like it in about 10 minutes while also making me laugh with funny stories :). 100% recommend and will be looking forward to returning for another cut!

I tried Salon 130 for the first time thanks to a Groupon, and my cut and style with Shannon was one of the best hair styling experiences I've ever had. Shannon was very particular about her work and she did a terrific job with my hair. She is also one of the nicest service providers I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. and a consummate professional. I highly recommend Shannon!

Salon 130 is amazing! On September 15th 2022 I went there for the first time, it was a very nice location and the Salon itself was very clean and tidy. The staff at Salon 130 are extremely friendly and kind. Caroline was the hair stylist that cut, coloured and styled my hair, and she did a fantastic job. My hair looked exactly how I envisioned it, I would definitely come here again!

When owner knows your out of town, she will charge you extra with no explanation until you check your bill. Won’t ever go again. When I called her, Michelle said it’s common sense that she will charge more, she was very rude and it’s not my fault she didn’t know how to braid and made me wait for other stylist to do it for me. Owner should know how to braid hair, that’s common sense!

I’ve been going to Salon 130 since 2016 and I’ve loved every visit since! Désirée is so wonderful, talented and delivers such beautiful results. I always look forward to sitting in her chair and having my hair dreams come true! The owner, Michelle, is always so wonderful when I’ve seen her, and Caroline is so friendly and such a wonderful person as well. Highly recommend!

I just moved to Ottawa recently and booked an app. here on a whim & got my hair styled by Desiree- she is not only an extremely talented stylist but also a warm and lovely person. My bill was already reasonable but she went ahead and gave me a gracious student discount on top of it. I really enjoyed my experience + will be back again to request her specifically!

Incredible salon - Desiree has been my hair dresser for years now and I always come out of my appointments with her feeling beautiful with my hair. Bianca did an AMAZING job with my hair. I was fit in with a last minute appointment no problem and my experience was only uphill from there in terms of service and quality. She worked with a few photos I provided and made my hair look even more incredible than the pictures, I've never been happier with a stylist or salon, will definitely keep coming back!

Had full head of highlights, cut and style by Krystal. My experience was 10/10 she walked me through every step, detailing what she did as she went. She provided excellent service and did an amazing job with my hair. First time at Salon 130 but I think I've finally found a go to salon in Ottawa. One of the best hair salons in the city! Caroline is the hairstylist that colours/cuts my hair and she is amazing at what she does - incredibly detailed orientated, punctual, professional, etc. With her skills and the atmosphere of the salon it makes for a great visit every single time!

I have only positive experiences with Salon130! I love my balayage and colours done by Caroline and Desiree. They also care about the health of your hair which is a huge bonus especially as someone that switches between blonde and brown hair each season!

Caroline was very considerate and accommodating. She did a phenomenal job on my Copper hair transformation. I will definitely see her again for a touch up Switched hairstylists after my colour which i didn’t appreciate, and felt rushed to get out.

Desiree does such a good job dying and toning my hair. I can always count on her to make sure it looks perfect! Myra usually blow dries and styles it after, she also does such amazing work! I have nothing but good things to say about this Salon.

CAROLINE: 10/10. My hair was completely dead, black, and a green metallic shine from box bleaches and dyes I did at home. After I think 3 sessions over the span of a year, I’m completely blond and my hairs healthy again!
