I've had a LOT of experience with mechanics over the years as I have had multiple older cars. Being a woman, I have felt uncomfortable in many shops. Other shops would lie to my face, assuming I would pay for whatever expanded issue they shot my way. Only problem for them is that I did research and talked with others before and after taking my cars in. When I first came to David with a problem car several months ago, he was extremely honest about the exact issue. He explained the problem, the likely cause of the problem and suggested solutions. His solutions were affordable, and when later checked, absolutely correct. This has been the first shop where they have fully and clearly explained the problems and given me affordable quotes. They are happy to explain what they are doing and why. Nearly every shop I had been to before seemed annoyed that "some girl" asked so many questions and occasionally to watch them work. But at the SD Auto Care Center, I felt welcome to question and observe to my hearts content! Another thing that I love is that they are willing to not only have me drop by anytime to ask car questions, but they give me their full attention to do so. Recently, I had an unusual issue with my car and they didn't even require an appointment. I just called and asked if they had time and they quickly responded with, "Bring it on in!" I've only discovered this place recently, but it is officially my go-to place now. They have the best deals and services that I've experienced yet. I absolutely recommend this place!

2021 year - This shop is great! They replaced the leaking water pump in my acura MDX in a very short time. They offered the best price in San Diego. I recommend this shop if you would like to get the perfect service for a great price! 2023 year - I recently had an outstanding experience with a car repair service for my Acura MDX. The car was making noises on small bumps and while rotating the wheel. After a thorough inspection, the technician recommended replacing the front shocks. I appreciated the honest advice and decided to purchase my own shocks to save some money. The technician was accommodating and skillfully installed the shocks I provided. Impressively, the job was completed in just 5 hours, allowing me to have my car back the same day. This prompt and efficient service was a huge relief. I'm extremely satisfied with the quality of the work. The car now runs smoothly, with no more noise on bumps or during steering. I highly recommend this service for any car repairs. Their expertise, efficiency, and customer-oriented approach make them a top choice for car maintenance and repairs.

It has been a couple years now since I've been taking my car to SD Auto Care Center. My dad originally referenced me to David, but since I started coming, I have found that not only is David and his crew competent and knowledgeable about various makes, but they are highly trustworthy and always charge a fair price. One thing I appreciate is that David doesn't try to sell you more than you need; I think this is one thing always concerns people going to auto shops. He will let you know when an extensive check-up is not necessary, all the while keeping an eye on your car's condition when you do bring it in. SD Auto Care is my go-to for oil changes. They are quick (30-45 minutes), affordable, and they let me use my own synthetic oil. Even when I was in a small fender bender with my car, they were fast and expenses were fair (and also itemized, which I appreciated as well). If you have car problems, I highly recommend this place! I think you'll find that it was worth it!

David is a very trustworthy mechanic/businessman. My family has been taking all of our family vehicles to him since 2005. I was referred to him by another family member who is very meticulous and suspicious of auto repair businesses. Every time he does a a repair he provides me with a text message photo of the problem on my car and explains the pros and cons of not having it repaired. After the repair is completed, he provides me with the actual parts that were replaced. He honors all warranties and never tries to sell you parts or services you don't need. He takes all calls at any time and always provides advice on any car problems you may be having. It's hard to find a mechanic that you can trust; however, David Dau (owner/mechanic) is the exception. Glad I can trust David for all my car repair needs.

Had a great experience getting my timing belt changed and new brakes. My 2012 Honda Pilot needed its 100,000 miles maintenance and I was dreading it because I didn't have a regular mechanic, until now. I read the reviews on here and decided to try it out. David is very nice and quickly gave me a quote over the phone. He said I can bring my Honda Pilot in and get the timing belt changed, if he saw anything else that needed to be done he would let me know. He never once tried to upsell me. He did let me know my brakes needed replacing and quoted me a price for that as well. I knew they needed to be replaced because they were starting to be noisy. He replaced my timing belt and my brakes in less than 24 hours. I was out the door for $755. He was friendly and we will definitely be back.

I have been using David Dao to service my cars for years. He is extremely knowledgable, fair and honest. I like that he looks up the recommended service schedule for your vehicle but will tell you if you can wait a bit longer before doing the work. It's a good feeling knowing that you can trust the person working on your car and that he will only do the work that is truly necessary to keep your car in good running order rather than doing extra work to benefit himself. For this reason, I still entrust him with my car even though it's a bit more inconvenient for me since I have moved and am not as close to his shop as I used to be. I have several friends who were so happy to find a good mechanic after I had recommended David to them. Five stars plus for David and his employees!

I heard about San Diego Auto Care Center through a friend and I'm glad I was referred. Although, David (shop owner) is very thorough, he doesn't try to force you to do more servicing than you need. Additionally, he explains exactly what he sees and talks about his plan for servicing before doing them. Furthermore, I had a wheel alignment done on my car but later found out that I needed further adjustments. David happily worked around my schedule to fix the remaining problems and even lent me a car to use while he was working on mine. David's prices are fair and I trust his services. He doesn't pressure me to do extra work on my car and he let's me know if something isn't needed to be serviced yet. Bonus points: he speaks multiple languages including Cantonese and Mandarin!

I was referred to David by someone else I do business with, and I'm so relieved to now have a mechanic who I can trust with my vehicle. David will explain any aspect of your vehicle that you have questions about and do so with enthusiasm. No hedging or needing to pull teeth to get information out of him. He definitely will tell you what is critical and what is important so you know what you need to fix right now and what you can wait on but be aware of. In the tiny office, there are all the electrical outlets you need to do work while you wait. The place is clean and orderly, which also gives confidence. Needless to say, I recommend San Diego Auto Care Center because I know David will help me take good care of my vehicle so it will last as long as possible.

I had to go see for myself and concur, as he impressed me with his integrity, responsiveness, and hard work. At the top of my criteria for any service provider is honesty. He is honest, trustworthy, and knowledgeable. He is knowledgeable to the point where he wants to share that knowledge with his customer. He saves the old parts he removes to show you, while explaining the associated problems with those parts. He completes his work in a timely manner, although the speed of completion is not as important as the attributes already mentioned. Hello San Diego! Just wanted to say that this place was my savior recently! I was having trouble with my car starting so I was referred to this business by the car dealership across the street since they did not have mechanics on site on this day & im so glad that they did...turned out I needed a new battery for my car. I spoke with David & he walked me through the entire process & was so nice. It literally only took about 15 minutes & the price was wayyyyy cheaper than I thought it was going to be! I was so grateful I was able to get it done so quickly & for a reasonable price...he even followed up with me to make sure that everything was working okay, I definitely recommend this place, thanks David!

This is the first time I went to this restaurant to change the oil. The boss was kind and explained in all aspects. I immediately developed a sense of trust in this restaurant. After checking, the boss said that the front and rear brake pads need to be replaced, and pointed it out to me. I asked how much it would cost to replace a pair of brake pads. The boss said that the front and rear brake pads are the same. Knowing the price here, I agreed to change it. During the waiting time, I called another car repair shop. The price reported to me was 145 yuan per pair. I immediately felt very bad about this car repair shop. Everyone evaluates this practice and whether the price is reasonable.

I was referred to San Diego Auto Care Center by a family member who has been a loyal costumer to David for over 10+ years. I was having major issues with my brakes and needed an Oil Change. After speaking with David on the phone and going over what needed to be done, I felt very confident leaving my vehicle in his care. David provided me with a very fair estimate, took my car in super last minute and was able to replace my brake pads, complete an oil change and replace a caliper all in the same day. He was very efficient and also very communicative and updated me throughout the process. I’m so glad San Diego Auto Care Center was able to help me out with honest work and at a fair price.

My wife and I have been going to David's shop for five years and I have had David as my mechanic for more than ten years. Even though there are mechanics close by our home, we travel over 45 minutes to get to his shop because we trust him and know he will do a great job. He is patient and flexible with our schedules and he has fair and honest pricing. He is very honest about what should be fixed soon and what can be fixed later on. I like how he test drives my car just to double check it and he has provided transportation for me when my car required more time to fix than I had anticipated. He is the best car mechanic I have ever had and I definitely recommend him.

He kindly accommodated me when I called a day before today for my AC condenser having a leak and just blowing hot air in this summer heat! He told me to come in 8:30 am and started on my car while showing me every detail of what went wrong with my car. He was honest about the price and gave me ample time to dwell on making a decision having all my other options weighed (like if there’s a recall). I chose to proceed. He continues to update me on the wait time and price when necessary. He started on my car at 9 am and finished at 2 pm :) Great work! Will come back next time

My grandfather has been taking all of his vehicles here for over 20 years anytime he got a new car Dave made sure it was in top condition. I moved to California about 5 years ago and my grandpa introduced me to Dave and ever since I have been bringing him my cars. I was in SD & decided to do errands. One of my todo list was get an oil change & I went on goggle to look for one & I picked this one particularly cuz they could take me without an appt. David was so courteous, nice, knowledgeable, & the price he gave me for the service I needed was pretty much the same as the one I usually go to in menifee. The place was clean & organized. Even the tech that worked on my car is nice. Got a bit of education about people & car service from David. I’m thinking of going back to them next time even if it’s an hour drive. I really liked the service.

David always give appropriate and professional suggestions for the repair parts or whether anything need to be repaired, price is reasonable compared with other car mechanics and repair stores. In case of long time of repair, David offered me a free ride to my home with his own vehicle. After his repair, I drove my car for a round trip plus one-way trip to San Jose, and it is still in good condition. If you are worried about being 'trapped' into wasting money changing any unnecessary parts for your car, I suggest you ask him for help.

David and Oscar are great! Very helpful, kind, and transparent about repairs and costs. My AC compressor and low side line were leaking and I needed to get them replaced - other shop quoted me nearly double what they did! Service was VERY speedy and unmatched. I will definitely be going back when needed and highly recommend! 10/10! Update: I’d give them more stars if I could! Called asking if I could get some help replacing a headlight bulb, showed up within 15 mins and they got it all sorted out! These guys are the best!

When I was having endless issues with my old car, David charged me honest prices to fix the issues. I’ve visited here this morning after my car just got damaged by a big flying steel plate on the highway. David and his technician has being transparent and detailed my car’s problem to me, as well as helping me to fixed my car’s part to allow me to drive back to where I from. Unfortunately I’m from Arizona, if I’m living in San Diego I’ll definitely visit here again if my car’s damaged! Additionally, David speaks Chinese, so this would be really helpful to the people who can speak it!

Service was top-notch; brought my Honda Odyssey and Hyundai Azera there for maintenance on drive issues. Overall quality was exceptional. Prices are resonable. One thing I want to mention specifically is that David always explains thoroughly whatever needs to be repaired and he doesn't mind if you bring your own parts in comparison with other shops I've been to. My wife and I we both were very satisfied with this shop. Highly recommend to give him a chance, you will be surprised.

Be aware of being overcharged!! Compare with others quote BEFORE letting them work on your car!!! from Chandana on 1/20/2018 Yelp: David charged me $45 to inspect the breaks and show the oil leaks. Quoted $400 for Front Rotors, and $200 for rear break pads, and $1800 to fix the oil leaks. I took the car to MIDAS, they charged no fees to inspect the issues. Replaced front rotors for $279 and rear rotors for $225. Changed the oil pan gasket and the total repair cost was under $800.

I own a 2007 volvo s40. It's been a nightmare the last few months. Check engine light has been on for almost a year and I have been putting it off. Mostly, for fear the repair will be expensive but also, I haven't found a good repair shop. This year I need to smog so I took my car to San Diego Auto Care. David has been nothing but honest, knowledgeable, frugal and reliable. My car past smog, the check engine lights is now off and the experience has been a good as I can ask.

Always I took my car there they charge first 70 dollar for oil change then they changed amount to 80 dollar I agreed with that and 1 time I asked them let's change transmission oil please and they charge 135 dollar for change transmission fuel first of all they too expensive and they charge too much for everything but they have one repair man inside from Mexico he is a faster repairing everything he is a good man but boss charging too much to fix your car

I found David after Hyundai wanted to hold my car for 2-3 days for a Check Engine light. David took one look and was able to diagnose the issue and fix it. I have taken my Hyundai Sonata to him each time I needed anything changed or look at since then. He is very clear on the charges and the changes that are needed. He never upsells. He will also inform you of future maintenance needed 6 months or later

David and his colleague did a great job getting my 2011 Outback ready for sale (changing fluids, rotating tires, replacing the battery, and cabin/air filters). It drove so well once they were done I had a tough time giving it up. David was transparent about pricing and never tried to sell my anything more than I needed. I have been a customer at this store for more than 10 years, and am very satisfied with its quality of repair works and customer services. Another important factor that keeps me as its customer is that I don't have to wait there while the car is under repair. The owner will either drive you to your office (if it is not too far) or loan you a car for commute. Very satisfied.

They charged 65 to check my AC, which is much More Than Other places. And They told me my compressor needs to be replaced. It costs 900. However, I bring my Car to Another place, they checked the compressor is good. And easily fill the refrigant and fix my AC problem. The price is 10 times less than replacing compressor. I am gald I did not accept their diagnose.

Kind and honest service David was very nice and helpful, he even drove me back to my house and dropped me off and picked me up after my car was fixed. I was able to bring my Chevy truck in there in the morning on Saturday and it was diagnosed and fixed before 3 o'clock the same day. He saved the parts that he removed and showed me what exactly had broken.

I've used this shop a few times and I've always had a great experience. It's very professional, prices are fair and the service is fast. We were taking our two Hyundai cars to the Hyundai dealership before, and David's shop proved to be so much better in all levels. I came here based on the other google reviews and was extremely satisfied with my service. I came in for an oil change for which I was quoted a reasonable price and the owner threw in the tire rotation for free. On top of that they ended up finding a nail in one of my tires, which they repaired at no extra cost! Very satisfied and will be coming back!
