Tiffany and I were in the process with selling our Windsor, Ontario home and I researched a real-estate agent in Calgary that had outstanding reviews. Shawn Rasmussen was the name that elevated to the top of preferred agents. I called and spoke with him in April 2019 and as our Windsor was going on the selling block later in the summer, I wanted to ensure we had all our ducks in a row because we were going to buy a home “on line”. With 4000 km’s between us it was logistically and financially challenging to fly to Calgary several times to secure our Calgary home. This was a major trust factor for both Tiffany and I. Buying items from Amazon is very different then buying a home on line. Shawn worked diligently and the more we spoke the greater the comfort level rose. He emailed several offers based on our criteria, visited the homes that was on out short list, proceeded to provide a name & contact info for a home inspector on the selected home. Once in receipt of the home inspection, Shawn negotiated the price on our selected SE Calgary property and we agreed on the selling price. With Shawn’s help again, he referred Tiffany and I to a Calgary lawyer that helped us close the paperwork on this Calgary home. Suffice to say with our Windsor lawyer and the Calgary lawyer the whole process was far less stressful on us and closed with-out issues. Further, Shawn made sure that our Calgary home was clean, no personal items left behind with the previous owner and Shawn retained our keys until we arrived. We drove from Windsor to Calgary and when we determined the day and time of arrival in Calgary, yes Shawn with a huge smile was there waiting. Did we make the right decision from the get go? YES WE DID!!!!. Working with Shawn through this process was a delight. A family man, professional, attention to detail and with an extensive network of professional contacts such as and not limited to , home inspector, plumber, electrician etc. he is our go to guy. We did not know a soul when we arrived and he was our beacon. A man that is very reliable and replied to OUR many calls and emails from Windsor in a very timely fashion. In closing, we could have had this come together with his help-Shawn, seems thanks is not enough!

I purchased a home with the help of Shawn in April 2020. Shawn is very easy to work with and added a lot of value to my search for a home. He provided valuable information regarding the entire process. At one time I considered not hiring a realtor, but after working with Shawn, I realized that would have been a big mistake in terms of helping to find the right home, navigating the process, negotiations and going through inspection. Shawn also has a construction background as well which was invaluable. I purchased a home many year prior with another realtor, and didn't realize home much of an asset that experience was. Shawn was able to pick up on many things that I wouldn't have otherwise been able to for each home. My goal in purchasing a home was to finish a basement upon purchase including installing a theater room. For each home we looked at, Shawn was able to detail how a basement could be finished for each home and if it would work for my plans. I was surprised how many basements were not actually suitable based on the existing layout which I wouldn't have been able to figure out myself (and I am an engineer). We ended up purchasing a home and finished the basement right after purchase (finished within a few months). Shawn ended up assisting with design and contractor management (an extra service he provides to select clients). The basement looks awesome and I got it done at a cost far less than what I would have paid if I were to have went through a full service contractor. Overall, I am really happy with our new home, the price we paid, our new basement and I found that Shawn supported me through the entire process. And he is a really nice guy and through the process we have become friends. I would highly recommend using Shawn!

Shawn was able to assist me in buying my first property. With being new to the entire situation, I was looking for a realtor that was willing and capable of providing some guidance whenever needed and Shawn fit the role quite well. My job prevented me from being able to look at any properties during normal business hours but Shawn made himself available and lined up show times after-hours on each property. This required some planning but it ended up working out nicely each time we met up to look around. Shawn's experience and background with building houses was evident when it came to looking at the different layouts and assessing the smaller details that would ultimately make for a pleasant living experience or not. The other realtors that I had spoken with previously were not interested in providing any opinions or suggestions and it was clear that they were only talking to me to make a commission with as little input as possible.
