I received fish with ich! I have 14 aquariums and have been fortunate not to have had ich until now. Purchased least raspboras for my shrimp only tank. It was clear right away fish were sick. Contacted shrimp fever they responded with ich is present in every aquarium and offered to sell me medication. I provided photos of fish. They responded with we don't sell sick fish. They acknowledged the fish have ich, but they weren't sick when shipped. 1 day shipping and 1 fish completely covered in spots when received. I have spent many hundreds of $ on livestock with this company. This isn't the first issue I have had with them but it will definitely be the last. RESPONSE TO SHRIMP FEVER REPLY. You must have me confused with someone else. I never received DOA shrimp. As for shipping I live an hour away and receive shipment next day. Paying more $ for shipping will not get it here any faster so just an excuse to charge more $. For how covered fish was in spots when received, it was clearly sick before shipping. You claim to have offered replacement with next order if I paid more for shipping? That was months ago when I received a DOA fish. Nothing was offered regarding this shipment other than to sell me meds. The extra for shipping for what purpose. Same amount of time in transit. Other issues it didn't bother to bring to your attention because I knew you would do nothing about it. 3 hillstream loach in a tiny bag. As you must know they require a lot of oxygen. 2 out of the 3 died within 12 hours, the other has recovered and is doing fine. I felt I needed to bring the rasboras to your attention because I'm sure the rest of your tank is infected. Your response was immediately defensive. If that is how you would like to treat your good paying customers, then you should expect a bad review. Other fish keepers have a right to know how you conduct yourselves. You offered me nothing for this shipment, why lie about that? Dear Tommy. Did you take the time to read email correspondence between Esther and I before you posted a response? I didn't require assistance in diagnosis of fish. I communicated I received fish with ich to which she responded we don't ship sick fish. I've not had to deal with ich, but am aware of what it is. She didn't have to explain it. I did not refuse to treat fish? I asked what she would recommend in shrimp tank. I simply said I would purchase meds locally which I did. What has upset me about this was the the reaction to my communication regarding receiving fish with advanced ich. The defensive response to not shipping sick fish and how ich is always present etc. The response I would have expected is I'm sorry that has happened, and thanks for bringing this to our attention. Perhaps a recommend treatment in shrimp tank. An offer to replace any losses. Also the untrue statements made here have frustrated me to no end. You are correct, I was not aware higher shipping rate would provide larger box and more water. Esther didn't take the time to mention that when I said I didn't see the logic due to same transit time. That information would have likely changed my shipping option. I did not say hillstream loaches were DOA. I Said 2 died within 12 hours. Perhaps someone could have mentioned my order was pushing the limits. I don't ship fish, so that would be up to you to communicate. Why communicate this to you? Your policy is clear as you stated. The shipping option was a 1 time conversation months ago regarding a DOA fish. Never came up again thoughout my many orders. If a customer tells you they received fish with ich. Maybe don't blame the customer. It comes down to accountability and mutual respect.

I would never shop here again. I've had multiple issues with this place. just shop elsewhere. My order came in with 5 dead fish. I did not report it because you do not keep records of DOA credits, and also will not be ordering again anyway. I have been to the store, tax exempt not accepted. Pretty easy to verify who someone is these days, it says that on the guidelines you sent me, especially if you keep a record of your customers. Get your timestamps right, I emailed previous to placing order, didn't wanna wait for response. Wish i could have not placed order. Just left a sour taste in my mouth. And of course you blame me for your shortcomings. April 24th Pets definition (Oxford dictionary) -a domestic or tamed animal kept for companionship or pleasure. Ok, so that doesn't apply here. Those fish are likely not domestic nor tamed. I don't keep them for companionship nor pleasure, it's not like I've named them. The fish themselves could also be kept as food for other animals. I keep them for spiritual and mental health reasons, so basically medicine for my soul. I, as a Native Indigenous person have alot of baggage that I carry. Years ago my people have been the target of genocide, and racism still to this day. I know you probably can't relate to what that feels like. But it kinda feels like an elephant sitting on your chest, making it hard to breathe, making everything you do harder. I have never had to argue about using my status card before, and I've been using it for almost 30 years. I could go on and on, but to be honest, I'm not going to because I'm not the one standing there pointing fingers, with their chest out. As for DOAs, it's your company not mine. I can't give myself credits, or create and process them. That would be your companies responsibility, why would it have anything to do with me. I didn't lose them, as is your example, you didn't keep track. Email reply said something along the lines of, we will apply credit on your next order. If it had been a gift card let's say, if I had lost it, no problem that's my fault. But clearly that wasn't the case. You claim that I have redeemed credits previously, which hasn't been the case, I have not redeemed credits previously. I totally understand that DOAs happen, unfortunate but it does happen. But I'm not going to report it, if I don't intend on ever using the credits, why waste my time. Yes that was totally my decision. It was my choice to go through with the order, and I made the decision to do just that. I'm just saying that if I had to do it over again, I wouldn't have made the same choice. Say what you want but I'm done replying to you. Take care!

The WORST store I’ve ever dealt with!!!!! All plants I bought from them died. Fish I bought from them also died... These guys seriously need to be checked... Most of their fish are wild caught and they never even quarantine/medicate their fish. The owner himself told me that they do not medicate fish “unless they are showing signs”... and all those signs will spark once you get your fish. If you do buy anything from them, make sure you have medications on hand and quarantine ANYTHING (even plants) you purchase from them. Either way you should always quarantine your new fish... but ESPECIALLY from this place! Costumer service is at it's lowest that it can be! They are ULTRA cheap and will hold on to every penny. They do sell sick fish... BE WARE! Even if they know that everything that was wrong with your fish is their fault, they will deny it and will make up the ODDEST reasons to blame everything on you. Don’t even dream of a refund. I would NEVER buy anything from this store and would avoid them at all costs for your own good, and for the good of your fish. TERRIBLE! Despicable... nothing more to say. I wish I could give them 0 stars, they really don't even deserve 1 star at all! Ps. Reading the negative reviews here on google and seeing how many likes every negative review gets... really makes you question the honesty of all those 5 star reviews ....

So this was my first time ordering from Shrimp Fever and I want to give my honest review on how things went. Shrimp fever has a specialty in shrimp but I also noticed they have a pretty nice selection of nano fish that my LFS does not have. I ordered 12 green neon tetras, 10 pygmy cories and 10 Fire red Cherry Shrimp for my 20 gallon long. I selected the next day delivery because I'm about 5 hours away from where they are located and I wanted to make sure that all the fish and shrimp were in the bags for shortest time as possible. When I opened the package, there were a couple DOA shrimp but all the green neon tetras and cories were best quality I have seen. The DOA's i just contacted Tommy and he sorted it out for me since I got the next day delivery. My overall experience was really good. Tommy or whoever the staff that was on facebook with me were answering all my questions and they handled the DOA situation very well. My favourites from the order were the cories and the green neons which I find funny because they are called SHRIMP fever. Anyways I will order from them again sometime! Very very pleased!

One of my favourite fish shops, if not my favourite. Every time we go in, the staff are friendly, kind and extremely knowledgeable - there doesn't seem to be a dumb question to them, which is great because I ask a lot of silly questions! I am slowly expanding to different kinds of shrimp, but out of the three different varieties we have gotten, they have always been healthy, parasite-free and excellent quality. Most of the females berried within a week, and I have lots of little shrimplets now! We have also gotten fish and plants from them. Their plant selection is excellent, and they grow really well and are strong. The fish are the same as the shrimp - parasite-free, healthy and strong! The shop is a joy to explore, with two small little dogs to guide you if you ever need help (or can offer a belly rub!). Every time we go into the shop it is clean and inviting. I have sent several friends here, and I cannot recommend it enough!

I love this store. I’ve been there many times and always got great livestock. The employees are friendly and knowledgeable. They are happy to answer any questions, and help you be successful with every purchase. Today I drove the hour and a half trek that it is for me to get some Apisto triple reds that I’ve been waiting for them to get in stock. While I was there I noticed some L144 Red Plecos and I thought I’d pick some up to attempt to breed. The employee that was helping me told me he couldn’t sell me them as they haven’t been very healthy since they got them, and didn’t want me to buy them and have them die on me. This is so refreshing! Most stores would just bag them up and get them out of the store than to potentially take a loss on fish dying in the store. Well done ShrimpFever! Your honesty and commitment to your customers will not be overlooked!

I bought a betta fish from here last August. All of my Bettas that I purchased from PetSmart previously had at least one health scare in their first year. My Betta from shrimpfever is the only betta I own that's been consistently healthy. And what really made me want to leave a review was this week when I emailed them requesting a swim video of a certain betta they had online. Instead if sending me an old video they were honest and told me that betta looked a little sickly so they were delisting her and treating her with medication. Any chain pet store would've sold a sick betta to me without a second thought but Shrimpfever is genuinely dedicated to their animals and customers. Will definitely be purchasing from here again

Went to shrimp fever not knowing what to expect and I can’t believe how incredible this store is! Every type of shrimp I’ve ever heard of and SO MANY MORE than I even realized existed! Their team was super helpful, knowledgeable and very friendly. They answered all my questions as someone new to the shrimp hobby. I was also really excited to see all of their dried botanicals as well since I have quite a few bettas and like to add almond leaves, elder cones etc. To their planted tanks. Anything you’d need to start up a shrimp tank is there and reasonably priced. I ended up leaving with some Bloody Mary shrimps and this gorgeous Koi betta that I couldn’t resist. I will be a return customer for sure.

Great price, fantastic healthy shrimps and great customer service from people that care about the hobby! I have heard many good things about Tommy and his store and I can tell you they are all true. Tommy will go the extra mile to make sure his customers are happy at the end of the day. I have ordered from Shrimp Fever twice and I have always been happy with my shipment. I will continue to buy my shrimps from Tommy. Even Americans comes to Shrimp Fever to purchase shrimps ... need I say more? I suggest you visit his store or try a small online order and check things out for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

Overall, nice selection of products and friendly service throughout. I must say though, I went to buy some opae ula shrimp from there where the price is 15CAD per shrimp. Even though they are unique, the prices compared to ones in the USA is just outrageous to 1 shrimp here for the price of 5 in America to the point where it is just cheaper to ship them internationally. I feel like they took advantage of no competition for the same products. But would I come back? If I am buying something else reasonably priced and if they do not leave a 3 paragraph response to my review.

Placed an order for some shrimp and some plants a while back. Everything arrived quickly, alive and in great condition. The communication about the shipment was quick, clear and professional. The packing material is extremely dusty though, it got everywhere and there was alot of small dusty particles in the air despite trying to remove everything as gingerly as possible. That's the only thing i would consider a negative if anything but definitely not enough to deter me from making any future purchases. All in all, very very satisfied. Thanks ShrimpFever!

Very wide selection of and colour variations. Very healthy livestock, at fair prices. Most of the shrimp I get are usually breeding within a few weeks, I also purchased 2 assassin snails which have bred as well, 3 or 4 on my count (which I will be transferring to another nano once they grow a bit more) On top of livestock they also carry plants and supplements, I bought a pot of Bucephalandra which I was having difficulty finding elsewhere, the plant was very healthy. I live 30+ minutes away but will gladly drive to them for any shrimp/invert needs.

I’m all the way in Vancouver and decided to order a platinum white betta from Shrimp Fever. He was shipped when weather was pretty rough, and arrived in -1 weather. Though, he was packaged incredibly well (heat packs, well insulated box.) Since having him for several weeks now, he’s been doing great. He’s very healthy, and extremely active, almost like he never went through any shipping stress. Also, customer support from the team was fantastic. Thanks, very happy with my betta. Highly recommend, and I no doubt will be ordering again in the future.

I love this place. I’m on the west coast and we have some good options here sometimes but Shrimp Fever has a very thorough inventory on not only shrimp but also their fish inventory is super cool! The prices are unreal. But honestly the part I like best is they are the only aquatic site that I am familiar with that has a ‘show in stock only’ feature. It’s so simple to look at literally every item they sell. I can’t stand how most of our dealers post hundreds of species that they realistically maybe had in stock once if at all. These guys are legit.

Absolutely phenomenal place for everything fish related. First, their live stock is always pristine. Second, while their store is small, they have the most varied species of shrimp in any store I’ve been in the GTA! And thirdly, they also carry all your planted aquarium needs, including 1-2 grow cups! If they don’t have a plant specific to what you want, they can normally order it, just let them know. I use to go to big als for all my stuff but now it’s exclusively shrimp fever! Thank you guys and I hope your store does well for years to come.

These people really know and love their business. All livestocks are clearly well cared for and the staff always gives responsible care guide instead of trying to sell you a bunch of random useless stuff that bring nothing but misery to your aquatic pets. It specializes in shrimps (as the name suggests) but also sells lots of smaller freshwater fish, including some rarer ones. And kudos to their betta setup! Their bettas are 100% worth the price as they come healthy always kept in appropriate setups (individual filtered tanks with hides).

ShrimpFever has a great selection of shrimp and plants, and they're always good quality. Also some good fish, although that isn't their primary focus. My wife and I regularly drive 2+ hours to come here. We also did the same to pick up curbside orders during previous COVID shutdown. Online ordering is also a smooth process, and we have had good success with products shipped to us. The prices aren't cheap, but they are a fair price for a high quality product. I would, and often have, recommended this business to others.

I ordered some plants for my new aquascape as I wanted to see how things were shipped before ordering livestock. Everything came fast and was packaged well. I find their prices to be inline with other places and since I don’t have many fish shops to choose from where I live this is a great online option. The quality and variety of plants is beyond what I could get without driving to Toronto. I plan to purchase some fish for my tank once it’s up and running and am also hoping they get some large crayfish in stock soon!

We arrived 15 minutes before the place opened and didn’t realize they opened at 12. They still let us in and I was immediately fascinated by how beautiful the store was. The fish are extremely healthy and well kept (I did not see a single dead fish) and the costs are very close to big chain pet stores. I definitely will pay more for the good quality and healthy fish. Everyone was so kind and the dog was adorable! The fish are gorgeous! Best aquarium store I’ve ever been to. They definitely won a customer!

Drove over an hour to visit this *shrimp haven*. Amazing and comprehensive selection and the people working there are very tentative without being pushy. If you are a shrimp keeper or looking to get into the hobby, Shrimp Fever is the place to go! They have a wide range of beginner level shrimp, to very expensive rare breeds. I've been shopping at Shrimpfever for two years now, and my neos are totally fine and have basically taken over all my tanks, but honestly the reason I keep coming back is the neat rare nano fish they carry! The fact that their website is always up to date is a huge bonus, too. I was initially nervous to order live plants and animals online but decided to take the plunge anyway. Everyone (guppies, shrimps, snail, and plants) arrived happy and healthy and I've had zero issues so far. Everyone is still very active and healthy after being in my tank for nearly a week. Let's hope it stays that way. Very quick and open communication from the staff for any questions I had. This has been my go to aquarium store since I first started coming here 2 years ago. There has always been a great selection of fish, invertebrates and plants. Every so often I'll find a unique or rare species that I've only seen that they carry. Great staff and helpful with recommendations. Helpful inidentifying pros and cons of different species and their unique care. Will definately continue to come here and hope to see the new location when everything is back to normal again!

I received an email from the one of shirimpfever crew like after 5min I placed an order and she helped me with my order! I ordered my blue betta and few plants from them and I have never seen this super energetic betta before. He even ate food this morning I gave him. These guys mailed me a bunch of Pangio doriae. They all arrived alive and had 0 health issues. No deaths several weeks after buying & no health problems during quarantine. The quality of packing really gave me a lot more confidence to order fish online. Thrilled to have a big shoal of them, will absolutely order from here again if I need to get a not-so-common fish. They were also super patient with my barrage of anxiety riddled questions. Absolutely the best!

These negative reviews are nonsense. I knew nothing about shrimp as pet, but Tommy had the info I needed. They also helped me navigate the tedious and costly process of importing live animals into the United States. For sure, if you are in their neck of the woods, give them a try. Shrimp Fever has been around for years, and I don’t see any reason why they would be going away anytime soon. Thanks for your information and assistance

100% Awesome! This store is amazing and the quality of the shrimp are A+++, super healthy and I've fallen in love with these little crustaceans for my tanks. Tommy and Esther are always happy to answer any questions. While my experience has been primarily mail order, shrimp packing and products, has been impeccable. I had a delivery of shrimp made in one day, all 20 shrimp died because they sent it incorrectly. I have to pay $45-60 shipping again to possibly receive 20 dead shrimp. They don't want to refund even if they made a mistake. With there policy, they could send dead stuff to encourage you to reorder again using a credits. I could not have received the package faster, there was nothing special that could have caused it other than a mistake on their side.

Be very various I purchased 3 endlers recently from shrimp fever put them in quarantine they all had itch, all ended up dying by the 8th day durring treatment for the parasites unfortunately they only offer 7 day return policy and refuse to do anything about it avoid if you can not my first time purchasing from them not my first time having issue with their fish either attached a picture of one of my snails with the parasites attached to it

I have to travel an hour and half to shop here. Been here couple times and both times someone followed as if I am going to steal fish! I am a darker skin person and yes it’s about racial profiling. I don’t get this type of treatment at Big Als or Kow Loon. I came with a list to purchase but left with only one purchase. Very disappointing when it comes from other poc. Hope they change their attitude towards visible minority customers.

I ordered online from them and they were very helpful. I ordered decorations for my tank and a couple of crayfish. I reached out to them to add on to my order and they were very accommodating and helpful. I had next day delivery from Fedex, and they took their sweet time delivering. All the while Esther from Shrimp Fever was extremely helpful and empathetic. They also very knowledgeable. I will definitely order from them again.

Amazing products, amazing shrimp, and amazing customer service. I've ordered a couple times from Shrimp Fever and every time it has been exceptional. My shrimp just arrived in perfect condition and are enjoying some fancy Shirakura Soft Taste food after the trip across Canada. We went here to pick up some new cherry shrimp. They had so much variety in shrimp alone, let alone all the moss and plants. I felt like a kid in a candy store. They also had some beautiful Bettas, guppies and other fish. We got a fair bit of advice too that we will be using in the future for our aquariums. It's a bit of a hike for me, but definitely worth the trip for the quality of product and very friendly shop owners!

This store is such a warm and comfortable place, the owner has two dogs that will come greet you as you enter the store and will follow you around, they are absolutely adorable!!! And their selections of fish, and shrimp and all sorts of aquatic species are amazing! I highly recommend this place because they are also very knowledgable. Definitely go to your local aquarium stores and support them! Will definitely return.

Tommy and his staff are knowledgeable and pleasant. They have attentively addressed all my inquiries and have given me excellent advice. Today I ordered some additional rasboras for a longtime fish and shrimp tank, which they helped me get started some time ago. Tommy remarked that it has been a long time since my last order. Fish, shrimp and plants always arrive in Ottawa in the best condition. Meticulously packaged for any season. If I want to guarantee that my purchase will still be alive in two weeks, I buy from these guys. I cannot speak on their physical store as I am unfortunately too far away to visit it (hopefully one day!), but their online store is great. They answer questions very promptly, and they ship their orders as fast as possible. Everything is packaged extremely well. Shipping livestock comes with risks, but their DOA policy makes everything stress free in case issues occur. I highly recommend ShrimpFever.

ShrimpFever is my favourite place to go for my aquarium supplies. They have a wonderful selection of ornamental shrimp and fish that are always of excellent quality. Also, their service is phenomenal! I recently ordered from their online store, and they packed the order really well - my corries arrived safe and sound! Really great staff and a beautifully clean store. So many things for sale that you won't see anywhere else. The shrimp we bought two weeks ago are all healthy and thriving. We live a couple hours away but it's well worth the drive. I mean, I wouldn't hesitate to have them ship, but it's fun to go to browse. If you have a Shrimp and/or a Nano tank, this store is an absolute must.

Everything was nice and healthy when received Edit: I made the 3hr drive to go visit this shop, and it did not disappoint. Tanks were clean, staff was helpful, and everything looked healthy! If you are interested in nano aquariums this is the only store for you. They have a huge array of small fish and crustaceans fir the aquarium enthusiast. Low priced shrimp for beginners like myself and a few rare and expensive ones, with everything in between. I went there fir shrimp and the sheer volume of choices was amazing. Great people and a great shop.

Shrimp Fever has been a godsend to me! They have everything you need for your fish and shrimp. Their livestock is healthy, colourful and very active. Our local pet stores don’t have the selection like Shrimp Fever does. The Pet store AngelFins in Guelph recommended Shrimp Fever to me and I am so grateful. I’ve been waiting for the lockdown restriction to be lifted so I can visit their new store and wow it didn’t disappoint! I’ve bought some amanos shrimps and oto catfish. Best selection of shrimp in town, from regular cherry neos to super rare patterns of crystal shrimps. Amazing staff willing to answer all your questions! I will be back for sure.

Cool place. Independent store with a variety of shrimp, plants, and some small fish. Friendly staff. A bit more expensive than the chain stores but have much more variety of shrimp and plants. They don't sell that tacky aquarium decor and plastic plants. A little far out,in a mostly abandoned plaza not near much except Pacific Mall.

YES !!! 6☆ OUT OF 5.. made the 4+ plus hour round trip more than once just to go to this store. Every time has been an amazing experience! Everybody is so knowledgeable and friendly. By far the cleanest and healthiest aquarium store I've ever been in. Amazing selection of shrimp of course and some hard to find and unique nano fish.

Fantastic experience. Lots of different types of shrimp, crabs, and crayfish to choose from, along with hydrophillia options. Staff was experienced and helpful. They also had 3D printed pieces as well was natural wood pieces for your little pets to crawl on and around. Neat little place that helped me very well. Will be back!

I ordered 6 Pink Danio to be shipped expedited. They all arrived alive, healthy & hungry after their 2 day journey lol. I absolutely love their color, they are true pink unlike they’re patented cousins that are practically orange. Will be ordering again in the future if anymore pink fish become available!
