This review is only for the nails experience I recently had. I went on Saturday July 25 to get my nails done with Karme with shellac that afternoon. By the evening, one my nails started to peel off. I had my pregnancy reveal photo shoot on Sunday so I was very upset because I of course didn’t expect this to happen. I called on Sunday morning and left a voicemail because they are closed until Tuesday. They called me back on Tuesday morning and apologized and offered me to go back to fix whatever nail I had the issue with. I went back and Sam was great and kind to fix that one nail. Two days after, two other nails started to peel off too. At this point it hasn’t been even a week since I got my nails done with Karme. I called them back again to tell them this which of course is annoying for me since I have to spend all this time back and forth to get my nails done. They booked me in for August 4 with Sam again and she said that would just remove them all otherwise will keep having same issue. I told her I did not want the same color. I spent a week with chipped nails with a dark bronze and looked so bad so I just wanted something nude instead. They told me I had to pay because the owner told her so and I accepted at this point. However I believe this was not fair. I spent basically for basic shellac $80 ($50 first visit+ $30 to get them changed) + 3 visits + multiple days with chipped dark color nails. The right thing to do was to make sure I had the Service I paid for on July 25. I had been getting my nails done for long time in different places and have never seen them peeled off few hours after the application or weeks. I didn’t even know shellac could peel off. I waited for the outcome of all this nail experience. I just felt really bad that on my last visit they made me feel like I caused my nails to peel off that way, therefore they charged me. I wish I could upload pictures and videos.

I got gel nails from here. The process was SO PAINFUL!!! I've gotten gel nails from other salons before and it never hurt me. The manicurist was blaming it on my thin nails. The coat way WAY TOO THICK! I also noticed before she painted the polish on, a couple of my nails were already starting to peel off. I don't expect them to last very long... I'm so disappointed and concerned about how this experience is going to effect my nails. I really almost got up and left part way through... Also, there was no sink to wash my hands prior to the manicure, and I doubt she washed hers either... I should have walked out before it even started. Update: two of the gel nails fell off the next day and were bloodied under my nail bed. I almost lost all of my pinky nail! 9 days later, all of the gel nails have fallen off. And to your response about the nails being too thick, before putting it under UV, it should not be so thick! That's the reason why it was so hot and damaged a few of my nails.

Went here with my friend for a girls day out. She wanted gel nails and i got a shellac manicure pedicure and a European facial. My friend told the staff she wanted gel nails but they told her "no acrylic is better" she pushed for gel but they pressured her into acrylic. During the process they cut her finger and she bled quite a bit and in the end when she was explaining it to the manager the lady who did her nails was yelling at her ultimately my friend ended up in tears. My shellac didn't last very long i was under the impression it would last more then a week or two but i was wrong. I got my facial done in a room in the back of the place, all seemed well except i found a dead mouse in the room i got my facial done in. The place isn't very clean and now i have some weird cyst on my face. I would avoid this place.

The lady on the phone booking my appointment was lovely but didnt share her name. When I got there, no one greeted me at the front desk. When someone finally noticed me waiting, she asked me if she can help me. I said I had an appointment and she said come. Did not check me in or know what I had booked for. I got a regular pedicure. Baby was the esthetician's name. She did not talk to me the whole service which was 45 minutes. Atleast the pedicure chairs were massage chairs. The other estheticians were not speaking in English. They seemed pushy to the other clients there about what color to put on. I did not get offered to take home my foot paddle. After waiting 30 minutes for my nails to dry, I had to get up and leave because baby did not let me know my nails were dry. No tip. Will not be returning.

Karme is the best wax, facial, and threading technician there is. First the waxing with her is magical, I did full body and I felt zero pain throughout, she also double checked for any tricky spots and ensured my entire body is clean. As for threading my eyebrows have never looked more perfect, she suited the shape to my face and to my preference, and ensured both eyebrows are were twins not sisters which I love. The facial is a whole another story, it was so relaxing and I felt so at peace. I have a lot of acne and after the oxygenating facial with Karme all my pimples were gone! It was astonishing to see!!! Overall Karme is the nicest technician at Spa Escape, by double checking all her work, and listening attentively to my preferences she truly made my waxing and self care journey a joy!!

My second visit here! I enjoyed the Dead Sea Mud Wrap and Scalp Massage with Karme It was my first time on a Vichy Shower bed. It is really awesome, several shower heads and feels so great after the mud and salt scrub. That mud wrap is perfect for this time of year when our skin is dry. The massage afterward was excellent and I feel exhilarated after the treatments. It was my first time having a scalp massage and I will definitely do it again.  Just wow! Karme is excellent with techniques and manner. I felt very comfortable and pampered. I am looking forward to an awesome facial next visit. I recommend Spa Escape! All the staff here are caring and friendly. The atmosphere is so inviting and relaxing which I highly appreciate. Thank you, Karme, Colleen and team!

i have been going to this spa for years, and every time i go i always love it and looking forward to my next appointment. Today i was so disappointed with the way my nails were done. firstly i only wanted a manicure,but she talked me into doing a set of nails which was fine (because i thought if they have time why not) but i was tossed around from one person to the other and the the original lady who actually does nails did an extremely poor job and rushed everything. she rushed shaping my nails and they look absolutely horrible.i wish i could upload a picture because no words can explain how awful it is. I feel like i dumped $126 in the garbage. overly annoyed disappointing.

This is my favourite spa in Calgary! After moving here in 2014 I had a hard time finding someone that could do my eyebrows how I like them (I'm quite particular about my cosmetology). Lillian is amazing, she is very quick and her work speaks for itself. A nice perk is that they have a brow club where you can get a brow waxing done for free after a certain amount of visits (this pays off!). I also get my mani and pedi's done here, I've never left disappointed. Sandra and Helen are really great, I would suggest booking in with them (again, very particular about my nails as I'm a bit of perfectionist). I 100% recommend trying Phamtastic, the staff are amazing.

Nice enough staff and a good atmosphere, but I’m not super happy with my manicure and pedicure. My nails are unevenly shaped (which I didn’t notice until after I had gotten home) and she left significant space between the edge of my nail and the polish on a few nails. My pedicure was mostly okay, but my feet, particularly my heels, are not as smooth and still had a significant amount of callous on them compared to other pedicures I’ve had. She also made me bleed when removing my cuticle, but that could have easily been from how dry my skin was before. Ultimately, I feel I waaaay overpaid for the service I received and I won’t be returning.

I go for face waxing and sometimes for nails but the staff are super nice and very friendly and helpful. I have been going since 2014 so 3 years now. I used to see Karmi but she wasn't so good. I now only see Tina. She is amazing, very nice, very good at everything. I would always recommend people here especially for Tina. They now offer henna services bit are expensive; charge twice as much for something that is only $5 in the NE area. I have seen the catalogue and it's like 2 lines of henna is like $8 --- it's ridiculous! Conclusion: I will still go for waxing and other devices but probably not henna unless I don't have another option.

Wasn't impressed..walked in and was spoken to in a rude manner. .the lady rolled her eyes when I walked in. She asked me what I wanted and I said I had booked an appointment but still continued to ask what I want. They made my fingers bleed and my cuticles are red swollen and bloody. They did offer us a class of wine for my friends birthday so that was nice but they were rushed and continued to worry about everyone walking in the door and getting them ready than concentrating on my nails. The only reason I would go back is because we got given a 10 dollar off coupon

I figured I would try this place out because its close to my new office. Terrible idea. This is the worst place for nails. It cost over $35 for just a colour change, which didn’t even include a full manicure. The coats of polish applied were SO thin, the polish was chipping less than a day later. Its been almost a week and a half now and every single one of my nails is broken, chipped or peeling. They don’t let the polish cure long enough, so when they’re applying the top coat the colour of the polish is coming off while they apply it. Total waste of time and money.

I have given a review for this spa before and for some reason it was not posted. I have been coming to Phamtastic nails for 20 years (when Lillian owned it) and cannot say enough about the wonderful staff they have. If you go, ask for Baby if you want a pedicure, eyebrow threading, or waxing. She is absolutely the best and is the reason I keep going back as the salon is nowhere near my house. Sandra is also great for manicures and nails! If you want friendly, professional and efficient service definitely go to this salon. The staff are amazing especially Baby!!!

First time visiting them. New Full Set Acrylic. I made an appointment and booked it during my lunch hour. Song did a beautiful job and gave me exactly what I was looking for. My nails were quite weak from having gel nails on before and she made sure to take extra care of them. She mixed colours to give me the exact shade I wanted and made sure they were beautifully shaped and smooth. She was efficient and made sure I was done within the time constraints of a lunch hour and produced beautiful work. I'll definitely be going back to see Song again.

Had an absolutely wonderful spa day here. It's a serene, quiet place considering the location, very clean, and the staff is extremely friendly. The manicure and pedicure were very relaxing, and very well done. The relaxation massage was literally the best massage I've had in my life, Kristine was absolutely wonderful and kind and worked out some trouble knots which was much appreciated. The facial was awesome, and my skin feels and looks fantastic afterwards. Highly recommend this place. You won't regret it.

Superior quality and service. I visited the spa a year ago, and had Baby as my esthetician. I returned yesterday and she brought up things we had discussed the year prior. Her gentle and calming nature helped to ease any anxiety I felt around waxing. Her workmanship is superior to any other service I've had - I usually break out, but after her service, I have yet to see any side effects. The friendliness of the entire staff is both refreshing and welcoming. I'll definitely be back frequently.

I am a brazilian and this means that I am very demand when the topic is nails! So they are not wonderful but they are good, they did not hurt my nails and they are very clean and also I received a little massage in my hands and arms and this in my opinion is a good service! I love it! I made my eyebrows with thread and the result was excelent!!!! But I did on saturday with a chinese lady, and I don't know the others how they are! But I highly recommend her service! Amazing!

always late, even if apt booked. over priced - $50 for a gel fill. For $50 you would think the nails would be perfect, however far from, bubbled polish, nail shapes/lengths not the same. when asked for a different shape i was told i had to wait till next time (ummm hello im over paying for this service it better be to my liking!) nails always break, i found myself always coming back to get them fixed. Got them removed, wont be returning.

I only have facials and pedicures with Karme who I absolutely adore. Ever since I started coming to her five years ago I won’t go anywhere else. Karme takes so much trouble to ensure a relaxing experience while making sure you receive the best facial for your skin type. Her massages are to die for and her smiles light up a room. I promise you that you will get the absolutely best service and make a friend for life.

I have been going to Tina since 2014. Be it for my nails or for facials, Tina is always my person. She has always been really helpful in giving me tips and suggestions on how to well nourish my skin and is often a go to resource for any skin care questions. I will highly recommend Tina's services for anyone who is looking for an amazing aesthetician who cares for your skin more than you do :)

Sandra at Phamtastic nails is a delight. I had a shellac color done just yesterday that I was not crazy about, and Sandra booked me in at 11am (I called at 9am when the opened) for a strip & repaint, which was reasonably priced. Honestly I can say I WILL be coming back, she did a wonderful job and is just a great person to talk to. BTW ask her about her tattoos, they are incredible!!

Best spa ever! Amazing services and super friendly staff! The quality of services are worth the prices! I've been going there for 3 years now and I'm very happy and satisfied with Karme's work. She gives the best massages and does the best European facials. She also does an amazing job with pedicures, waxing and threading eye brows. I highly recommend this place to everyone!

I was able to book a last minute appointment to fix a ripped nail. They accommodated immediately and got me in. Sarah was awesome, she was gentle when removing my shellac polish on the broken nail and then fixed it so my nail bed was protected! Looks great, and I’m not worried about ripping my nail off now!! Thanks so much! Great place! Will definitely be returning!

Good place. Staff is great and Sandra does the best nails. My only complaint, and I hear this from everyone else that’s a customer, is they run the same video on the TV over and over again. When you’re a regular and there a minimum of an hour, you get tired of watching Just for Laughs. It wasn’t like this before so not sure what’s changed but it’s annoying.

They are lovely at Phamtastic! I have been to every nail place in the city and they are the best by far! They treat you like family, and when I get a full set of nails done they last forever. If anything happens you can go back and they will fix it for you no charge. I highly reccomend this place. For nails I see Jinny- for toes I will see anyone :)

I needed a treat in the middle of a hard month- I booked a full day at the spa. It was outstanding. Karme is multi talented- from a shellac pedicure to my body scrub, massage, facial and eyebrows- I am so happy with my experience today. It is SO clear how much staff members care about their clients- thanks for an amazing day!

I took acne special facial which was done by Maya and must say that girl has magic in her hands. My acne’s redness went down incredibly and face looks much better. I also got recommended for a laser by Collin and I am definitely looking to go for it too. After all self love is allll what we need. Thanks team spa escape!

Not happy, got a pedicure and manicure with shellac for $100 (pricey!) and the shellac on my nails chipped the next day and completely peeled off on the third day. I asked if they would consider re-doing the shellac on my nails since they are supposed to last about 2 weeks - they would for $15. Will not be going back.

Love every bit of the time that i come here. Have been visiting them for a year and Karme is absolutely amazing. She makes sure you are satisfied with the service that she did for you that day and recommends the best products. I always get my eyebrows and facials from her only and they are the best. I recently tried their laser hair removal at and it is amazing!!! I know that results differ for each person but I saw significant results after the first treatment. Staff were knowledgable and informative so that I could get the best results possible. I'm saving up for my legs. No more shaving or waxing for me!!

Take my advice and get a facial from Karme! She’s talented, kind, fun and really cares about results. I always feel like a million bucks after seeing her. Not the fanciest of spas so if you’re looking for great service and fantastic results vs the fancy spa ‘experience’, this is the place for you.

Lovely people and friendly atmosphere but unfortunately the facial my mom had with Tina was not good, it left her skin scarred for a month after. The extraction of blackheads was far too aggressive and proper aftercare was not provided. Shame because everyone was very nice, won’t be returning.

Loved this salon and the service was excellent! Sandra did a beautiful job on my nails. She was friendly, efficient and took pride in doing a great job, very professional. The salon, her station, the equipment used was clean and the other staff friendly as well. Look forward to going back!

I had come here twice to get my eyebrows and nails done by Karme. I must say she is amazing at what she does. She is very proffesional and works great. I also love her energy and how happy she is. I definitely recommend this place. It is also very clean and the ambience is super relaxing.

Great place. I get my nails and brows done with Karme, she's fantastic. She always makes sure that I am satisfied with the results before I leave. She's very personable and does great work. I'm one week out of this shellac manicure and it's still holding up great, no peeling or chipping.

Absolutely incredible experience here. Everyone was polite, friendly and thorough! My partner and I got pedicures with parafin wax and regular polish- AHHMAZING! The massages were half an hour, the best I've ever had! Sarah was my esthetician and she was fabulous. 10/10 recommend!!

So bad, unfortunately they took my money for facial hair laser; I paid lots of money for 6 session, I tolerated the pain but their machines doesn't work. It didn't affected me 0%. I would never recommend hair removal from this place to anyone.

I have been going to this salon for years back when it was at the old location. Tina is amazing she does a great job waxing and threading as well as a great job with nails. Everyone of the staff here are awesome!

I got my lip, eyebrows and chin threaded by Mia. Was a quick easy and painless process. Definitely recommend for someone who has sensitive skin to go with threading. Will definitely be coming back!

Karme is the most supportive, helpful tech I've ever had. She makes amazing suggestions for my face, skin and really listens to how I want my eyebrows. She's the only person I let touch my brows.

I got my eyebrows cleaned. Baby was really nice and cordial. She gave me a good cleanup of eyebrows. Surely recommend this place if you want to get brows reshaped or clean up.
