How was my stay? Well I didn't. Absolutely appalling. If you're into bacterial growth and dirt with a bit of crazy then this is the house for you. Featuring actual mental cleaner who dislikes pretty much everything including pets and an owner who has a "business is business" mentality, this house has everything, music at midnight, meth, weed, and we every footstep and floor squeek you can think of. No this "hostel" (loose injection) puts the H in Horrid, Herendous, Horrible. Nah I would recommend staying away from this place if you don't wanna sit on a needle. Spend an extra $20 and stay at a cheap hotel, even then that $20 upgrade wouldn't be a crown experience but it would make this place look like something you see in Mt Druitt. Just think of the TV show Houso's One star out of ten and that's only because of the friendly conversations that I had with the other guests that were staying there, the poor things.

My review is from some time ago but in nearly 3 years of travelling Australia this place sticks out as the worst accommodation I've ever come across. There were no staff there when we arrived and were advised to wait in the lounge by another backpacker. The place stank, we caught a glimpse of the rooms and they looked cramped and dirty, we were asked straight away if we had weed or cigerettes by other people staying there. Everyone walking around looked half cut and overall the place looked nothing like the pictures online. After 2 minutes we had seen enough and decided to leave. I've since heard very bad things about this place and the owner in the backpacker community, although we never met the owners (probably a blessing) my advice would be to steer well clear. We went and stayed at x base in St Kilda and had a fantastic few weeks.

reservation on Booking, arrived on site, ignoble room, which smells of cigarette smoke, rainwater running through the ceiling, completely dead bedding, broken cupboards with waste in them, disastrous sanitary facilities... I call immediately there owner to announce that I would not sleep under her conditions, after a long negotiation she announces to me that she is canceling my stay except that she made Booking believe that it was me who canceled the reservation so no refund possible and I can't even put an opinion on Booking. establishment to flee !!!

Worst hostel I’ve ever been to. First of all, there was a huge pile of garbage in the front garden of the house. Secondly, there wasn’t even someone there when I checked in but a friendly guy there (another costumer) helped me get sorted. I called a number on the wall and the woman told me to go in through the back door and ask for Alan. (Now I started to get kinda worried tbh)You cannot pay with card and the place is full of drug addicts. Everything was just filthy and I’m pretty sure there was old vomit between my bed and the wall. I was so scared of bedbugs and could feel something crawling on me. I will never go back there. If you want cheap accommodation, be wise and choose urban central instead.

This is the worst place I have ever been. I arrived on time only to be told that there were no beds. I had already paid for my bed. I was then told to go and wait inside to talk about it. Guests and the 2nd in charge were blatantly doing speed, method and coke in the kitchen and the 2nd in charge was rampaging around slamming doors. It felt extremely unsafe and I decided to leave. The manager told me not to leave as she had found a bed for me and I was offered a stained, smelly mattress that was still warm from another guest. I was refused a refund. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER STAYING HERE. I would rather sleep in a park or under a bridge.

Quite surprised by the way this house is managed, even though the staff has been nice to us. We had no other choice to stay here, it was the cheapest but still really expensive for what is it… Dirty mattress, without mattress protector, dust everywhere, no toilet paper, shower broken (water doesn’t evacuate). The main door lock is broken, no locker in room and no key to access the room, pretty much anyone can enter the building.. The house is falling appart .. looks like the management doesn’t want to invest, even though the house has a lot of potential and could be sweet. The picture don’t show the real condition.

Hey guys would recommend you AVOID this place, booked online and on-site the house manager charged me a lot more for my booking. I told the house manager to that she would work with the online accommodation website (Agoda) to fix this- but she didn't seem to care about it and said it only affects the client. The house conditions are poor, lots of smoking inside the premise, people high on drugs walking around. Anyhow its still a roof and i appreciate the stay- however I really think the house manager should really fix the costs advertised online to match her real price.

Grosse arnaque, ce n’est même pas un backpack mais un immense bordel qui pue. Nous avions réservé un lit double dans une chambre de quatre et nous nous sommes retrouvés dans une chambre avec 7 lits, très malodorants avec des affaires partout et un lit qui ne semblait pas avoir été changé. En ayant pas mal voyagé c’est le pire endroit que je n’ai eu à voir. Nous sommes restés 10 minutes et avons décidé de partir mon copain et moi. Sans possibilité de remboursement bien sûr, et plus de 500$ dépensés, ne réservez pas la bas❌❌

Very dirty and inhospitable place. I had made arrangements with the owner to stay there for a week in exchange for work. Every day she kept adding hours to the deal. Not being able to complete the 18 hours requested by her, she took $ 98 of the $ 150 deposit I had to leave. Every day inside the hostel there were people who were not part of the paying people, as if it were a public square. The owner had advised me to buy a lock and put my valuables in an old cabinet because the place was not secure at all. Don't go there!

This hostel is amazing. It is located near the beach in a quiet surrounding. The staff are extremely friendly and it has direct access to the city restaurants and all sort of shops. If you don't own a car do not worry because there is bus stops at the door and 2 train stations at a walking distance. If you are looking for a affordable place to stay this is the place. The people that are staying here are amazing. You can really build good friendships here. Enough said you have to experience it for yourself. .

C'est le pire endroit que j'ai vu de ma vie, lieux totalement insalubre, des draps sales, une odeur nauséabondes quand on rentre, tres peu de lumière, un sol sale, de la moisissure dans la salle de bain, des poubelles qui débordent de déchets. Un endroit à fuire, ça devrait être dénoncé et fermé depuis longtemps. Pas de remboursement de la part du propriétaire. De plus, celui ci a débité les frais d annulation à sont nom, j'ai donc aussi été débité des frais d annulation. Un voleur !!

The owner is friendly and nice, but the facilities and areas are (to put it nicely) makeshift and dirty. The place has potential, but for the price you are paying and commute from other places I strongly recommend staying elsewhere. FOR THE OWNER: Renovate the house and bathrooms. Your place has great potential but put a little more money into it. Add locks too. Security is alarming.

Camp mother of the place is relaxed in a good way .. the beds are real beds . I left my tobacco on a seat outside for over an hour .. they were still there !!!! . Facilities were clean . People were diverse and friendly. No shin digs after 10 pm ment great sleeps . The house and rooms are naturally cool .. from my experience in Melbourne I'd give this a 11 out of 10 ... if you plan on working this is your spot ... I'll miss the 2 Irish gals ... PEACE

I loved it here! I would return. It was well kept and pretty relaxed atmosphere. Its the cheapest hostel so set your expectations accordingly. No it's not modern but has all the basic essentials and most importantly its the people that make a hostel. Show respect to the people and property and enjoy. Despite the reviews this place was still fully booked. WiFi signal very good. It's not easily visible from the road. There is road parking outside.

I was there for one night. They didnt have a blanket for me, people were partying in the garden until 1 am and the hostel STAFF was smoking in the living room right in front of my room. This is not a hostel, its a trap house and if your not into drugs or are homeless i wouldnt recommend it. I would rather sleep in a tent than in the st. Kilda east lodge. Im in australia since 6 months and it was the worst hostel ive been in.

Best place I have ever stayed. 5* service, food is amazing, staff are all so welcoming. Room was the cleanest nicest place I have ever seen. I will be returning next year with all of my extended family and spending 6 weeks here. Pool was amazing. Special thanks to the staff Jerry, Garry, Larry and Barry. Highly recommend.

Great for short stay. Management on-site if you need sheets blankets just ask. Clean, safe, if you don't want to get robbed or you don't want to get have any issues with females then this is a great place to stay, security is on site all the time there is a camera system also. Have fun at the tennis! you won't find a cheaper place that's clean and safe

The worse hostel in Melbourne. A lot of stuff had been stolen and the hostel is quite dirty (they wash the sheets in the garden just with a bit of water). And if you wanna save your money don't work for the owner!

Disgusting place.smells bad.personal irrespectful.No propane in BBQ tank and No oven.backyard looks like a scrapyard with flooded old couches and wooden pallets as tables.not even a coffee cup to drink you coffee in the morning.definetly the worse hostel in st Kilda.

I like it. Good area, nice streets. Public transport really good , shopping mall close by and Coles around the corner. It's cheap and comfy. Peaceful, owner is alright. Good place to relax. Not modern but ok. No one troubled me here.

For a hostel it's really good, chill, cosy, I wish people would lift the toilet seat and not snore but hey that's life :)) comfy bed and everything you need. Oh but the WiFi doesn't work, if I needed the WiFi I'd have to give 2 stars

No more will I allow people like this to operate I'm taking this place to court and I'll get your money back whoever stayed there because she has fabricated reviews so now it's time to pay what's owed!!

The phrase you get what you pay for comes to mind. A unique combination of decor (the shower makes one recall a communist block) and quirky characters make this place one unforgettable stay.
