I'm happy to report a friendly, professional resolve to my issue with St Leonards Tavern. I was contacted by management at Sonenco; They were genuinely interested in my feed back and made every attempt to make me feel welcome back to the Tavern. I was very impressed by the way they handled the situation. Clever and professional. Thank you to the staff at Sonenco and St Leonards Tavern. I have left my original review below to give context but it no longer reflects my opinion of St Leonards Tavern and will happily lunch there again. Appalled at the behaviour of the manager (Chris). I had lunch on Friday at the SLT. The food was fine although a little expensive $27 for a chicken pjamigana and $10 for a beer. I was sitting on my own at a table part way though my food and decided to get another beer; The cost of a pub lunch totalling $47. when I returned to my table the food had been cleared away. I asked the waitress and she apologised for clearing the table but thought I had gone. I explained the situation to the manager expecting a replacement meal. Instead he went to the pile of dirty dishes and offered my old meal back. I have know idea where that plate has been; Especially in these Covid sensitive times. He wouldn't give me a fresh meal or a refund. The waitress was doing a good job but there is serious management issue at this place. ORDINARY!

I've been coming to this pub for a number of years. After a busy day at work, I like to unwind here and watch a game of footy or catch up with some friends with a schooner or two. I've seen numerous staff come and go over the years and some of them are unfriendly towards you at first because they didn't know you, and I get that as you're still a stranger to them. Then they'd see you regularly and they'd become friendly and would smile or say hi. Except this girl with the eyeglasses. She's poured my schooners of beer for months and her attitude is a hit and miss -- sometimes she'd say 'hi' and 'thank-you', sometimes not. But last Friday when I went there to meet my friends, she just looked at me without asking what I wanted. I think she's waiting for me to tell her what I want, which I did. She got the schooner glass, poured beer in it and just set it down on the counter -- no words, no smile. I shared my observation to my friends and they agreed that the nerdy-looking girl wasn't in a bartender-y mood that night. That didn't really make us feel welcome and we thought to ourselves, maybe we should meet more at the Crowies instead. It may be 5 minutes farther from where I live but at least it has a great atmosphere and the bartenders are friendlier and better looking.

Dont except any service if you play pool against one of the owners/share holders but you wont know it until refused service(cry to security or complain to mates outside having a smoke). After one round of drinks, denied service by bar and told they we not allowed to serve us drinks although there later then most patrons and first drinks. Our huge group of 3 were sitting at booth waiting for the pool table. Security also comment it was wrong that we had been singled out. Confronted person civically but although he knew "knew no one" security were right there on his side if anything had kicked off. Such a shame as came here one a week for lunch with 10+ people from just around the corner. Guess wininning is everything here. Avoid Gilorys as owned by some people.

The gaming area (pokies) was filthy, there was cigarette ash and dust on most of the machines, the screens had sauce splattered on some machines, the chairs were dirty also. Overall the higine of the gaming area was very poor. I went to the gaming area 2 nights in a row and only once in the total 6 hrs I spent here was I asked if I wanted a drink by a enthusiastic hard working and very over worked waitress. The male shift manager walked past me several times during the first day and he was deliberately avoiding eye contact and even when asking him if I could order a drink he pretended not to hear and walked off. I will not be returning to this establishment as the experience was very disappointing

Feels like my second home at times! most of the bar staff are super chill and attentive for all your needs! Not to mention the security guards for this Estab are by far the best secos I’ve come across - honest, fair, kind and most of all have zero power trips - which really is unheard of in a Sydney pub. You feel welcomed with their friendly vibe which in teen never makes you feel uncomfortable during your time there. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is only due to pricing, it is super high and the actual fit out could do with some work.. can feel like a bit of a canteen at times. Though this is an easy fix and honestly the staff makes up for it anyway see you soon at leo tav xx

A few times now I’ve been for after work drinks and definitely not even close to being rowdy or raucous, certainly not intoxicated, and we’ve been refused service after 3 drinks for being “too drunk”. Once I had to go back to the bar to request a refund as they refused service (understand it’s well within their right to do so) but still proceeded to charge my card for a bottle of wine. Each time we’re met with an attitude of condescension and rudeness. It is no wonder the bar was empty after 7pm on a Friday night. If this business’s intent is to drive away revenue on a Friday night, goal achieved. Unfortunately will not be looking to go back anymore. Lost customers spread words by mouth.

Not much atmosphere here, I would draw similarities to a medical centre waiting room . I was also greeted to demands for a vaccination certificate? This is despite the government dropping that requirement? Apparently it's a "local policy" , I am fully vaccinated anyway. No welcome or greetings. Vax & QR ✅ is you're welcome to this establishment. This part of the city needs competition. It's why customers walking into spend their money are treated with contempt. Grossly over-priced for typical national l brewery beers. There is no competition on the north shore.. , hence high prices and lacking service levels we are used to elsewhere in the city.

First time went in for lunch today, the Bartender was extremely rude, he seemed like the manager there. I ordered a Rump steak which was $10( Monday special),then I was told by the Bar girl that I must order a drink with it which was fine. I then ordered a coke rather than a beer as I need to get back to work, then this Bartender came out with his unhappy face and said something cheeky, I tried to ignore him but he kept going and said "imaging everything was free in here" I mean, What a XXXX, never go back again.

Unparalleled customer service. One of the bar staff in particular, James, I can not praise more highly. There is no equal in Sydney, or I dare say the world, for someone who epitomises the three pillars of customer service; professionalism, patience, and a 'people-first' attitude. He was friendly, attentive and catered to my every need, not to mention easy on the eyes. I will be dining here again. 5 stars!

  • Nick Ross

Not much character but good facilities, good beer (pints!) and good food - all at decent prices... [Update] well it used to be. They let hardcore druggos live in the place (frequently in the men's stalls together) and yet will randomly pick people to stop serving because "they have alcohol on their breath.' It's supposed to be a pub but god knows what it's a front for.

  • Heath M

The Tavern has friendly staff, and modern amenities. The vibe is more of a stock standard pub, without a great deal of character. Pricing is standard for Sydney. It can get rather busy on a Friday afternoon/evening, but will be relatively quiet otherwise. It'd be rare that you'd need to book a table for a small group outside of a Friday evening.

  • Alyssa

First time dining in here. We didnt expect much but they did exceeded our assumptions. Great food! We ordered wagyu burger + apple cider and my fiancé ordered Chicken Parmi. Also, he loved the beer on tap. Conveniently located near StLeonards train station. Also their closing time is at around 2 or 4am❤️

  • Daniel

I'll admit that when I first saw this bar I thought it was a little plain and dingy. We met some friends here to watch rugby, and the bar was very quite. However, we ordered the grilled chicken burgers with chipotle mayo and they were actually amazing. I would definitely recommend.

  • Vish

Fairly average pub. Beer is ok and you’ll usually find a seat. There’s also an enclosed smoking area. Handy as it’s right on the doorsteps of the train station so you can grab a quick drink while waiting for the train or convenient place to meet before heading into Crows Nest.

  • Veronica M

Food is pretty average. Got the lunch time steak special and it's advertised as $10 but you have to buy a drink along with it, so you end up paying more. The steak was very chewy but I supposed you get what you pay for, at least the sauce is good.

  • Dave Gauntlett

Good for a local pub, they have specials on certain days. Mon-Tues is $12 steak day, Wed night is Chicken Parma night, Friday night has $10 pizzas. Good for a Friday work lunch with your colleagues, just get here around 12pm, or book a table.

  • Andrew C

Nice pub with generic pub food. Had the chicken parmigiana and it was quite good. The inclusion of vegetables was a nice touch. Was a tad on the pricey side though (apparently if you go on a Monday lunch it is only $12). Decent selection of

We went here for lunch today and had to wait over 40mins for food. After asking about our food the staff went and sorted it out. Finally our waiting to pick up our food the chefs give our food to someone else and then advised us to go get

It's the place you go to when everything else is closed, it has its place and does it well. They have added a few better beers over the years but still has its own charm. I will be going back, I'll be a few drinks in but I will be back.

Nice mix of cosy and classy. Came in on a quiet Sunday night. Mix of beers on tap - nothing super high end, but some quality staples. Pizza was tasty. Friendly staff. Decent jute box playlist. Not too loud. No pokies.

  • Blender Vendor

The fiod was decently pruced good quality and rather timely. The tavern small and wasn't packed. Its got a nice atmosphere and very much resembled a 20th century tavern with a bit of a modern twist. Rather nice.

  • Brittany Mixon

Lovely and friendly staff to every person who walked in! Clean and didn’t smell of stale cigarettes, like most pubs! Offered to carry my beer to the table as I’m on crutches then wished me a speedy recovery.

  • Greg G

Staff are Great provide a wonderful atmosphere Wonderful select choice of drinks Tasty Food - inexpensive, filling- "traditional" pub feed Great location close to Transport to safely get home after drinking

  • Dwight Robinson

Nice little bar, food looked great (was only there for a quick afternoon beverage). Good selection of on-tap and bottle options. Super friendly staff. Seemed to have their COIVD-safe processes pretty slick

  • Laura LJ Jodie Betteridge

I think this is a great pub. It's laid back and everyone is relaxed and quite clearly having a really good time. Awesome atmosphere and the staff and managers are all really friendly as well!!

  • Aaron Spiteri

Yeah this place is quite small and gets packed easy, i don't really like the atmosphere its just a small simple bar very little decor. Does have $10 lunches so check the specials on the day.

  • boris eschmann

Friendly managers (Ryan and Michael), running the tavern the way it should be all over the country. Chose attractive attendants who make up for the limited menu selection (Good quality).

  • GRX 133

Good pub for quiet mid-week pub meal. Good value, decent selection of beers. Bloke working the barbie makes an awesome steak, cant find a better $15 rump on a Tuesday night.

  • Ivan J

The atmosphere is actually quite good here, friendly patrons and staff. Food was actually surprisingly good. You can’t go wrong with this place on any day of the weekend.

Bar staff really indifferent to customers. More interested in their phones than providing service and encouraging a friendly atmosphere and the desire to come back. More

Nice pub. Friendly staff and the food is great. My personal favourite is the chicken schnitzel and chips. Been going there for around 6 years and never had a bad meal.

  • Ridwaan “Dan” Carregosa

Great and friendly staff. Came here in search of a place to spend an hour waiting for friends. The staff made me feel very welcome and appreciated, a rare thing!

  • Shane C

A splendid and suprising local gastronomic adventure, with a casual vibe that belies the diverse (and delicious!) cuisine as well as the remarkable wine list.

  • Hugh Lister-Barker

I got the pumpkin salad and the halloumi was off. I couldn't eat it due to fear of food poisoning. As a customer I would recommend sticking to the fried food.

  • Matt Stevenson

Food is priced well. Beer is what should be expected at a local pub. Nice pint of young Henri's and a discount beef burger is a good deal. Burger is tasty.

Chicken schnitzel is solid. Underrated venue with good food and service. It got tastefully renovated about three years ago. Great place for pool.

  • Richard Phillips

Had $10 lunch (actually $14 as you have to buy a drink), and had salt and pepper calamari. Quite tasty and not overcooked & chewy.

  • David Brooker

Big shout out to Kristal who helped an old Optus customer by giving him a hotspot in a time of need. Above and beyond... More

Bouncer tonight is a legend. So kind. Felt really safe here. Schnitzel $15 on Monday great value wish there were more chips

It's OK quite good for large groups we go here after work. They have 10 dollar pizzas on a Friday but no happy hour.
