READ BEFORE GOING INTO A NIGHTMARE: Just left this Staples here at Roosevelt and Canal, to begin the first star is going to the mature blonde woman named Gail. She was professional, kind and flexible working with my boyfriend. When he entered she greeted, she understood that he wasn’t that tech savvy, and was very patient and personable. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the other two staff members behind the counter. The younger young lady with a red T-shirt on was not personable, omitted a greeting and instead asked me what I wanted quite offensively. She was very dismissive with my partners request for printing service. Not sure if it is unfortunately a generational misstep or just an overall reboot of customer service training in need. However she was outdone by the larger gentleman working behind the counter in a gray T-shirt. Not only was he out of his way rude, full on dismissive, but upon greeting him and asking his name as I thought I would be leaving a good review was very rude and belligerent and told me that he was too busy to speak to me even though when he felt like it he responded with a sharp and very unprofessional tongue. I understand that in the realm of the service industry it can get difficult when you are on hourly pay as opposed to commission, however these are the jobs that we all should be grateful for during these times and as somebody who is also in service I make sure to go out of my way because I know I chose this job however the people coming into the business had no other choice than where they went, and a lot of the times are depending on me to be the a pitta me of professionalism. Unfortunately I did not receive this from these two staff employees and I do recommend that they look to Gail to receive better training and education when it comes to proper client retention and service. My other two stars my previous large event prints with MAPLE AND ASH, FOX, and SHOWTIME. Staples is great for the incredible competitive prices that offered, as well as awesome and very easy to use online service. They have maintained an impeccable quality to their products and as long as they can reign in their in-store employees I do believe that this company could be truly exceptional and beyond five star.
I Went to this store to get a photocopy of a picture, I was told to use the self help copier. After trying my debit card three times and getting an error message, I decided to ask for assistance. I was then assisted by the gentleman who apologized and assisted me with the copies. He then made the copies but it was not what I asked for. I wanted an 8x10 copy of the picture I gave him. He gave me back the picture as the original which was an 8x8 on the photo paper, but not an 8x10 picture. I questoned it, he then replied by saying, if you want it to be recopied, you would have to come back later on that night around 8:30pm to pick up. He can tell I was not satisfied with his response , I asked what do I owe for the copies that was made? He then replied nothing and walked away. He seems as if he could care less about satisfying or meeting my expectations. I also witnessed him giving the same treatment and sayiny the same to the gentleman he assisted before he attended to me. The store seems to be understaffed, and , this employee doesn't seem to be happy in this position. From my observation, he seems as if he had other pressing jobs, and deadlines to meet that required his immediate attention. I wont be back to this store, I would rather travel the distance to Office Depot where I know they always exceeds my expectations. Most importantly, they have sufficient staff in the copying department to assist with any of your requests.
My experience was with Riccardo in printing. It began with my phone call where I asked if I could print from my USB, or if I needed to email my document. He told me I could use my USB and hung up the phone. I thought okay he answered the question rudely, but he answered the question. When I got to the store his face to face was horrific. I stood in line for about 5 plus minutes before he walked over with a scowl on his face which let me know I was disturbing him. Once at the counter, he never looked at me and said yes. I told him that I wanted to make copies of my document. He asked how man and said my order would be ready late that evening or the next day. I told him I called and was told I could use a USB and print the copies today. Riccardo responded with a heavy sigh stating you are in a full-service line. I mentioned there were no directions posted or a sign that said full service or self-service, and I had never made copies which was why I was in the line. He looked at me with total disgust and as he turned and walked away, he said you can use one of the computers. Everything about Riccardo was rude. If I ever need to make copies in the future, I will make sure Riccardo is not on duty before entering that store. I must add that as rude as Riccardo was, the young lady that helped me Carlien, was pleasant and very helpful.
The woman who took my printing order did not know how to put in in the system. I had waited a half hour until she realized her mistake and called her superior who then printed it out in two minutes. When I has asked what was wrong she was rude and said she had done everything right. When i asked to get the edges of my photo cut the superior gave a “ugh” sound and cut the photo’s white edges. I was grateful but there was a small edge with a bit of white left. When i asked if she could cut it, she said wait until she finished her other project when my task literally would take 10 seconds. I then asked the first associate who just handed me the paper cutter. I told her her experience would probably be better than mine and asked her to do it. She gave another “ugh” and said you didnt even pay for it. Here i am, having waited 45 minutes for this one page to be printed, and she couldnt even trim the edge for me as an apology, and was making me feel beholden to her, as if i should be thankful that they cut it for me. Had i known beforehand tahy i had to pay the extra $0.50 cents for the cut i would have, and it all seemed very petty. I will not be going to staples for my printing needs again.
Horrible customer service...the store manager has no social skills whats so ever...she walked away while I was talking to her and didn't let me talk when she was done. I'm sorry but when it shows that an employee do not like their job...then clearly you should take it at face value. I spent 30mins for nothing....didn't get anything resolved. A lesson learned....do not...i repeat...do not ever get the warranty on anything at staples...I got warranties on two products that have yet to be replaced....and yes I had the reciept but the warranty reciept was not sent to me with the purchase reciept...And even though the rep typed it in the computer...they were not able to regenerate the warranty. With that, I want be buying any more warranties from Staples...the store manager even said the warranty company is horrible....right from the horses mouth!!...unreal. Don't buy it...not worth a dime!!!...if you can't even use it
Lots of staff present when I entered the store although none of them acknowledged me by saying hello. The items I was purchasing were easy to locate in the store. I didn’t like that the checkout wasn’t clearing marked as was confusing so I approached the counter where I saw the employee standing with his back facing me. Two others employed scams up starting chatting then when they saw me standing there looking. A lady ask me do I need help clearly I was standing there to checkout. She instructed me to go around when I did get to the register that was open the guy didn’t say hello or even tell me my total he just stood there looking at me. Overall it wasn’t a pleasant interaction and there were multiple homeless ppl sitting out side that I didn’t even want to use the atm next door at chase I’ll avoid coming to this location.
I found printer ink without assistance however I did not know where the paper was located as it was not by the printer or ink. I asked a African American associate, who was stocking shelves in the next aisle from the ink, where is your printer paper. She told me in a sarcastic tone, "you see that big wall that says PAPER, it is right there." I am not pleased with the way she assisted me - that attitude was unnecessary. When I was by the paper, another African Amercian female associate asked if I was finding everything OK. When I shared my experience with her co-worker, she proceeded to tell me, " Well you found it, right." And chuckled away. If you want customer service and general assistance, this location is not the place for it. They lost my business moving forward.
I been going to this Staples since it first opened. But today I got towed when I parked at Staples. Even though this Staples is closer to where I live but to worry if my car is still out there or whether I have to call an uber to take me to Rokaitis towing to pay another $218 is just not worth it. I'll drive a little further to another Staples and Chase bank. Their lost. Don't park here. You might get towed too and it is just your word against them. Just not worth the headache and aggravation. Save yourself from paying $218 and go elsewhere for your business. Otherwise, when you come out your car may or may not be there. Life is already scary with Cov19. But to be stranded without a car in a sort of sketchy neighborhood is just not worth it.
I was shopping for a new monitor. I asked an employee for the code to go to the bathroom. She told me it was for employees only. I was forced to walk a few blocks to Whole Foods to go to the restroom. I came back and found a monitor to purchase. I explained the situation to the manager and asked for a discount. She explained that they have to clean the bathrooms their selves and don’t have a company come clean the bathrooms. Not sure how that changes anything but ok. So she said there will be no discounts and that’s it. Fair enough. You now get a 1 star review for not accommodating guests while they shop. I still dropped almost $200 on a monitor. Try Best Buy, I know you’re allowed to use the bathrooms there while shopping.
Customer service is clearly not a concept that people at this location understand. I had a TERRIBLE customer experience such that I refuse to return. I won’t elaborate but after expressing my frustration with my customer experience to the associate I was met with attitude and absolutely no apology. After going to the manager, I still received no apology or effort to rectify the situation. Just “I’ll go talk to him.” Mind blowing how bad the “customer service” was. I drove all the way from Chicago to the Willowbrook location where I knew, based on previous experience, I would be treated well.
This store is similar to most office stores in the city. I went there today for supplies and found what I needed. They have pretty much everything you could think of as far as office supplies go. They even have a printing area and shipping area. The parking is easy to get into and easy to get out. The prices are usually a little higher than other office stores in the city, it could be due to the location, that why I gave it three stars. The staff always is helpful and always show great service when returning something.
1 Star for the neatness. 1 Star for the friendly welcome. 1 Star because it’s Halloween. -2 Stars for Cashier 1901523: he was a tad bit inattentive; maybe his EarPods distract him from fully immersing the customer in the simple transaction? Suggestion: ensure cashiers are ready to go at time of guest checkout; if employees are allowed to use personal music/phone devices while clocked in, ask them to ensure the customer is completely ready to head out (and not have to ask for a bag to carry out our purchase).
This place runs a terrible scumbag towing scheme doesn’t matter if you go into the store or not. They are terrible human beings and don’t care if your car gets towed. This store is very close to me but I will be traveling to an alternate location solely because I would never give this terrible store my service. I hope they get more bad reviews and have to shut down. The store manager doesn’t deserve to run this store and should be fired immediately. The staff are rude and unable to answer basic questions.
DO NOT RECOMMEN THIS PLACE EMPLOYEES ARE TOTAL UNPROFESSIONAL THEY WOULD PLAY LIKE TOY COPS TO THE POINT TO HARASS COSTUMERS, PLUS EMPLOYEES ARE RUDE JUST WHEN YOU ASK THEM TO OPEN THE REST ROOM DOOR THEY WOULD ACT LIKE THER NOT LESSENING TO THE COSTUMERS LIKE THATBIS THE ONLY REASON SOME ONE IS GOING THER IDIOTS. ESPECIAL THAT FAT EMPLOYEE THAT I PUT A PICTURE OF STRAIGHT UP MEXICANO AND PLAY STUPID LIKE HE THOSE NOT KNOW SPANISH ONE REASON HE GOT THE JOB SO AT THE END TO PLAY STUPIND.
DO NOT GO HERE!!! YOU WILL GET TOWED REGARDLESS OF BEING A CUSTOMER OR NOT!!! I went into staples and bought a power strip and they towed me!!! I was in there 4 minutes!! The security guard said the towing company just sits in the parking lot and waits!! Cost me 218 dollars to get my car and can go up to 500!! They do not care even though I was a customer AT THEIR STORE!!!! If I could put negative stars I would. The employees refused to give me the general managers name as well!
The store is a disgrace. The shopping experience is awful; the staff unavailable and unkind. The prices on the shelves are often misleading. For example, I picked up a pack of printing paper because it said in red big letters it was 2.99, and on my way out I found it was actually over 8 dlls., and the 2.99 referred to some kind of electronic Staples card promotion). Also, they charged me two times for the same product. I was lucky I checked my ticket before I left!
I truly hope you aren’t driving to this location. I parked my car in their parking lot and not even FIVE MINUTES LATER, my car was towed. A 50 dollar online order pickup turned into a 200 dollar fine. They have a tow company watching everyone 24/7 because they have nothing better to do with their lives. If you shop at staples and decide to stop in another establishment next door to look around, use the restroom or whatever, THEY WILL STILL TOW YOU.
Walked into the print center looking just like a new printing customer. I had so many questions. I was talked to in expert language and directed to swip my card to use a .30 a minute computer. I opted not to waste money. I used the website, of course I made mistakes it being my 1st time. I had to start over . Standing in line while they focus on computer or over phone orders. 10 min past. Another mistake noticed. Store closed, The End
Allow cars to be towed from the parking lot when the signs that state it is only a Chase/Staples parking lot are as small as handicap signs. Half the signs are faded, and there is no large signage on any of the light poles that state what stores you can be at. Staples has 1 sign on the building, which has a lot of lettering and cannot be read unless you’re directly in front of it. The building owner needs to fix this.
Today 11/2/2023 around 11:30am I went into staples to fax some papers off. The guy working at the copy and printer center was rude and seem to have an attitude like he didn’t want to help people or was just having a bad day. I been going to this staples for years and never received this type of bad service. That’s very unprofessional to take your emotions out on customers. Store number is 1606 on canal street
I've been a customer of Staples on Canal Street, Chicago for 4 years. In that time the service has always been courteous and professional. Their computer techs have solved several computer problems I have experienced and have been extremely helpful in helping me choose software and hardware. The one time I had a "difference of opinion" with an employee, the manager handled the situation (to my satisfaction).
This location is a towing scam. How can you expect to retain customers when you tow their cars while they shop in your store? I cannot believe it cost me $218 to shop. I will not be returning. Corporate office needs to look into the business practices of this location. Additionally, from the looks of it a lot of customers deserve refunds on illegitimate towing fees.
Beware. Criminal & extortion activities. Parking lot has someone watching people & as soon as you step away from your vehicle they tow it. We stopped to pick something up at the Staple store & buy a sandwich. And we’re not even in the parking lot for 5 minutes before our vehicle got towed. Staples need to do something about this or close this store.
All I needed was ink. Spoke to 3 different people who directed me to other people. And perhaps I’m asking for too much when I walk into a store and expect to be greeted. I walked in knowing exactly what I needed, looking to make eye contact with the staff and they literally looked the other way and avoided me. First and last time I’ll visit.
Order a desk online for pick up, drive all the way to fid out it was out of stock, they still charge my credit card right a way and now they say that to get my money back it takes like 7 days which I needed the same day. In the first place why do they allow to buy something they don’t have. This sucks never buy anything from them.
This place is so much better than the Fed Ex across the street. They spend time working with you, care, are polite, efficient and can communicate effectively. You have to pay a little more, but the pleasure of not being lied to by Christopher is worth the added cost. I'll say it again... do not go to the fed ex across the street.
I came to Staples last night and after not finding what I needed at Staples I came out to find my car had been towed to Rokaitis towing which is like 5 miles away. I had to call an uber that cost like $20. and paid $218 to get my car release. I will definitely not return to this Staples or Chase at this location. Totally scary!!!
If you are looking for low cost shipping supplies this is the place to go. Their boxes are in the $0.69 to $2 range depending on size if you buy 5 or more. Their bubblewrap and peanuts are also much less than office depot. Shipping online is very slow though. Could take up to 2 weeks, but their in stock supply is decent.
Never coming here again, your car will get towed even if you buy inside the store. They employ a private towing company and have cars towed in just minutes. Other 4 costumers had their cars towed as well at the same time. If you look at past reviews this is something this store is known for! Avoid coming here
ran into menswearhouse 3 doors down for 30 minutes..was going back to staples for office supplies and they towed my car for 250 dollars plus more fees..mgr said nothing they could do..wont be ever going back there again..sunday evening an hour before they close and the lot was a quarter full
I parked in the Staples parking lot and was towed within 2 minutes. Individual checking customers out decided to laugh at the situation as this is a normal occurrence. Makes me question the integrity Staples and how much they value their customers. Never shopping at a Staples again!
Back in October 2023, I went to Staples on 1130 S Canal St to print out wedding materials like ceremony programs. The Print Service staff was professional and friendly. They helped me pick out paper and informed me of their machine that can fold the ceremony programs in seconds.
Great customer service today while buying a printer ink cartridge to replace my dried up one. I really appreciated the cashier going the extra mile by providing me with a pro tip on how to avoid this problem in the future! I will definitely come back to this store next time!
The manager does not know how to listen, they are not trained well enough. I called them before coming about something to clarify if they can help, but when i came they said they don't do that. The manager just kept effing rambling. He doesn't know how to listen.
Stopped by with 18 big boxes that we needed to ship out via UPS! It a lot of work and William was fantastic. He helped us with weighing packages and measuring. He took a lot of time with us and we really appreciate his help. William behind the counter is the man!
rude af! I ask for help about an audio cable. she says "excuse you I'm trying to stock!" while in shock immediately after me another person asks if they carry the specific kind of paper he has in his hand. she says "I don't know figure it out" negative stars
I was towed in 2 minutes while shopping at staples, and then laughed at when I called. On a Monday night. They don't care if I was a customer and that I had receipts. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! You will get harassed and taken advantage just by shopping here.
Disappointing when you walk in with your Staples card ready to buy and the stock of office chairs is display only. Someone helpful and professional offered to show me how I can order online in the store. I thought I would shop online... from my office.
DO NOT GO HERE! They are running a towing scheme. They watch you enter the lot, tow your car within minutes, and you will have to pay hundreds of dollars to retrieve it. Who knows how many employees are in on it. Do not give this place your business.
Had the absolute WORST experience at this location. Just needed a simple file printed and was treated so poorly by the printing service associate. Any questions I had for her were dismissed or ignored. Then she proceeded to overcharge me for the job.
Nice staff but never organized. Always a long wait to get prints made at the copy & print station. I’m a very patient person but after a while this is ridiculous. Horrible after 5pm because the wait is super long. I wish they’d hire more people!
Avoid going here if you can, things are often overpriced and the items are unorganized. Honestly just go to BestBuy on the street over or even Target for your needs. Also b.e.w.a.r.e. of the parking lot as they have vultures preying on your car.
Supervisor (print department) was very rude over the phone.. told me to place my order over the phone at the 888 number or come in. .. but wait I had a question but he had already hung up. .. wth no wonder they are being closed down like crazy
Outstanding customer service on both the phone as well as the in-store experience. From arrival to checkout, the staff was engaged, helpful, and willing to do what needed to be done to assist us in setting us our home office. 10/10.
Employees did not care to even try to help find an item after I asked for assistance. They were gathering talking and laughing in the back and waited over 10 minutes for someone at the register. Terrible experience.
I took things to be copied last night for an afternoon semester today. When to the store at 1030a to check on progress. They told me that they wouldn't be ready until 830pm. I ended up printing myself. Very bad!
This place has it all, I can't think of a time that I came in here and didnt leave with the supplies I was looking for. Pretty decent job on print items we've had done as well. Good place for the one stop shop.
If you leave ur car will get towed. I was gone for 4 minutes picking up potbelly a few doors down, it was towed in 3 minutes. They must have someone watching this lot at all times. Absolutely ludicrous
I called 3x no one never answered the phone.Once I was there the 2 young black cashiers were more helpful than anyone.Yes they advise me on what I should purchased .So I was happy for their great help.
ATTENTION!!! PSA!!! your car will get towed from being here. I left for 5min and they didn’t even have a big sign letting you know if you leave the parking lot your car will get towed. …
It took awhile to get any help. Items did not have pricing and some did not have the correct price. Sales Assistant was not knowledgeable . BTW, I don't like writing reviews. Second one ever.
Not a place to go if you're in a rush. Always long lines and the shipping and print center crawls along. Positive: free parking with it's own lot. It's also a UPS or FedEx drop off location.
I was not satisfied with the order I received. The quality and the print was blurry. I need magnifying glass to read and I paid extra for gloss that still looks dull. Won't be going back.
Boycott this location until they're willing to hold Rokaitis Towing accountable which based on their copy/paste responses to each customer complaint, isn't going to happen any time soon
This place wasn't bad at all. I had to wait for a customer service specialist to help me find a price but it was quick efficient and for the most part not a bad place to shop.
Cars getting towed left and right - not kidding - don’t park here - you’ll get towed within 5 minutes. The towers here are relentless and have a spy on the lot. Watch out.
Came to convention with no business cards, ordered on line called ubered over and BOOM cards within 2 hrs... you guys ROCKED IT... Just like the easy button thanks …
Great selection, helpful staff and you dont get the eye roll when exchanging items. They have Haribo by the cash register and use paper bags. Id give 6 stars if I could
Don't go to this store, there is a private towing company that will tow almost anyone in the lot, could be a good store but not worth even going to risk getting towed
Vi helped me to fix a print order that I had messed up on my end. He was very helpful and made the experience super easy - thank you so much - you are amazing!
*ALERT* PLEASE AVOID THIS STAPLES. THEY EMPLOY PEOPLE TO SIT IN THEIR PARKING LOT AND GET THEIR CARS TOWED. Towing company at 4546 S Acker st, Chicago, IL
Avoid this place by every means necessary, especially if you have any printing needs. This location is Slow and the employees are absolutely not helpful.
I parked here and to shop at Staples, walked to the Atm and I came back within minutes and my car was towed. Never even got to shop here and I never will
A long wait, at the Amazon return drop off. I waited in line then was told I could not return there. The guy, was very vague, not knowledgeable at all.
Employee Vi was EXTREMELY helpful in explaining wifi extenders vs a better router. Definitely my preferred tech store because of his help
One cashier was to busy flirting with customer and was scanning the wrong bar codes other than that the visit was quick and pleasant
GO HERE IF YOU WANT YOUR CAR TOWED! AND TO PAY $$$$$ LOST A CUSTOMER FOR YOUR TERRIBLE TERRIBLE AGREEMENT WITH THAT TOWING COMPANY!
This is a great store and the people that work there is very helpful I will always shop at this store for my kids school supplies.
I bought stationary from the store and went to use restroom, within 15 mins my car was towed. NEVER COMING BACK TO THIS STORE
Don't go to this place! They will tow your car even you are their customers. You need to pay $218 to get your car back.
The staffs are always around helping you with anything that you need and they will ask you do you need help or not.
Ambush towing on Thanksgiving evening, though the parking lot was about 25% full, and we were out for ~20 min.
Awesome staples. Bad thinq is the parking lot .everyone parks all crazy and its very tight and overcrowded
Bad. Come to print. No one help. Bad service. Never come back again.really bad attitude I never seen
Very clean store! One of the management staff, I think his name was Vilander (sp?) was very helpful.
Horrible customer service. I felt racism for the first time in the US. Keep far from this place!
Situated slightly outside the the downtown. Pretty big store with a wide variety of stationery
do NOT go here. car is towed in minutes even when you are a customer at Staples. it’s a joke.
Great service, very helpful! I was in and without in no time. Quite a pleasant experience!
Bought my tablet here. A bit slow on the service but friendly and have a lot of selection
Worst customer service ever and they never pick up their phone if you try calling them.
They reserved my item. Even price matched online prices. Saved over 40% my purchase
Spacious layout. Came here to collect my business card order. Staff were friendly.
Patricia and Will are very helpful from the Printing Department. They are awesome!
We went in here to see if my husband can get something enlarge but it costs 19.99
Ordered Online ,pick up went smooth, took some time for them to find the order .
So turning in old ink cartridges paid off. Got $20 to buy more ink. Wow wow wow
Everything was great about this location. Has parking, nice customer service.
Trishya & Pat in printing center are incredible! Great front staff as well.
Never leave your car parked here! They take it away after a few minutes!!
Staff is always super friendly and helpful. Check out is always a breeze!
DO NOT PARK HERE. They will tow you even if you are doing business here.
If you leave the staples to go to another store your car will get towed.
no one there to help look for supplies. only 1 cashier at checkout.
Great store, saleslerson courteous ,and polite very knowledgeable
I love coming to this store, staff is so helpful and courteous.
My car was towed in 5-6 mins after purchasing from this store.
Watch out for this place. Your car will get immediately towed.
Amy and melly were extremely helpful. Great customer service!
Customer service is terrible. If you not savvy a computers
