"Ordered 2 drinks, on a Sunday at 5:18pm served by Melody! Service is super slow! I waited 23 mins even though I was the next person for them to make my drink! Asked the barrister is there anyway someone can help her, he said I’m finished can’t help her! Then he starts talking to her which delayed making my 2 drinks! Instead of making the 2 drinks she decides to make other 4 people drinks at the same time! Never buying drinks here ever again, guy was rude and arrogant! He said to me next time we just say we don’t have any drinks if you can’t wait! The drinking experience went from 5 to a zero! Even though the drinks are ok, the overall service was poor! They started with 3 people serving to just 1 making the drinks! If only 1/2 star was available that what I would rate the over experience!"

"This is one of the prettiest dessert bakeries I've been to! The interior is so pretty, especially the upstairs dining area! Food itself was actually really great! The tarts are definitely a must have! They're not too sweet and they have unique flavours that I haven't seen before"

"Food was delicious, no complaints there"

I came here for the tarts and fell in love with their cakes!! While the bubble tea and taro mochi tarts were very flaky, custard was nice and toppings were yummy....gosh that Rose Lychee Chiffon cake really surprised my husband and I! The rose flavour is subtle in the cream but fragrant enough, it's the lychees that are bursting with flavour and they're very generous on the lychees - delicious The mango sticky rice crepe cake was also very unique. We love simple crepe cakes but the fresh mango made it very refreshing balanced with the glutinous sticky rice was a nice treat. The pistachio croissant was nice and flaky but what won me over was the creamy pistachio filling that was extremely fragrant and delicious. Really loved the Grape Hurricane drink too but it is on the sweet side so I prefer enjoying it on its own rather than with all the cakes and sweets (you can also lessen sugar if you like). I just like that it has real grape juice, white pearls and cheese foam it's so refreshing.

Visited this place last Friday for a croissant. The pastries were nice enough, but the customer service was passive aggressive and lacking. I originally wanted to buy an almond croissant that was available in the glass cabinet, before being informed that it was only meant for display. This was wasteful and absurd. The same staff member also tried to rush me several times while I was still browsing the selection of pastries even though I was the only customer in the shop at that time. Overall, this shop provided a disappointing experience that was not worth its $8 almond croissants.

This is one of the prettiest dessert bakeries I've been to! The interior is so pretty, especially the upstairs dining area! Food itself was actually really great! The tarts are definitely a must have! They're not too sweet and they have unique flavours that I haven't seen before. Mochi-lato was quite interesting! Love mochi and it really delivered! The gelato melts quite quickly though so keep that in mind. Their pastries are so yummy! We got the pistachio croissant which not only looked amazing but taste amazing too! The pistachio cream inside was perfect!

Food was delicious, no complaints there. The average rating is due to the lack of service. Came in with just two customers already inline. I waited over 10 minutes without being served as the only staff was busy making an order. Not even an acknowledgment or a “hi, be with you soon”. When the other staff came out the back with her friend chit chatting, she went to serve the friend! Please be more customer focused. Edit: seems like I can’t reply, but came in after lunch, so maybe around 1230 or 1pm.

I absolutely love their Portuguese tarts here, whether you want the original or their special tarts. My favourite is the mochi tart, with a nice chewy texture in the middle. Their gelato crossiant is also another win, the crossiant is fresh and crispy acting as cone for their smooth gelato. Not to mention the whole shop is Instagram-worthy with beautiful decors and a ceiling to floor mirror for selfies. A fun place to hangout with sweet treats when catching up with friends.

Mochi with pistachio ice cream, does it get any better? Actually the Mochi is smeared around the inner of the cup with the ice cream plonked in the middle which wasn’t how I’d imagined it to be. However it somehow worked well as the Mochi firmed up just enough as it cooled down. Taste wise, spot on. Cool instagramable place to hang out at with an upstairs seating area to chill. If you’re a Mochi fan and happen to be in the areas then definitely worth a visit.

Bought the tiny custard tarts....5 for $10...the girls serving had faces of total boredom and I did not feel welcome at all. They answered questions with very basically and I almost left but I'd heard such good things about this place. The tarts were stale and tasteless, soggy pastry... don't waste your $$, go to Sweet Belem or Honeymoon Cafe in Petersham...

I love the Mochi tart! The Osmanthus tea tart was also really nice. Both were so warm and yummy. Not too sweet but good enough to ease a sweet tooth craving. The atmosphere is lovely and such a pretty place to sit, study and eat. There is an upstairs area with a wonderful design and the bathroom is so tidy and clean that you would think you were in a bougie hotel bathroom and not in a cafe at Newtown!

I went to Sweet Lu to try the viral Gelato Croissant. The croissant was buttery and flaky and the gelato did not make the croissant soggy. The coconut and lychee gelato was nice but a bit too sweet for me, next time I'll add a different gelato flavour with the gelato croissant. I loved the ambience of the shop, the moving floral display was incredible. The service was friendly and polite.

Barista lady was so nice Thank u for serving us. Coffee was good. Decaf +1.0 was like meh but the kind attitude is the most important especially nowadays!! Mochi ice cream is a MUST!!! I tried taro one. Honestly, taro flavour was not strong, however I assume that other places use artificial taro but this place tasted natural. Overall, my experience was good and I am coming back!

  • Lilian N L

Had the salted egg yolk croissant and loved it - great molten texture with the salted yolk, highly recommend if you usually like 流沙包! Friendly team and lots of other food on display including gelato and cakes. Would try out some cakes at my next visit. Nice but tight seating area is available if you’re alone or have 1 companion, however not a place where you’ll sit for long.

  • M O

Very underwhelming. We got the croissant with ice cream and it was not a great experience. Croissant was very dry. Ice cream has no flavor. And it was the most difficult thing to eat. Coffee was bland as well. The first girl who served us was lovely, however the second girl was so rude and unfriendly. Definitely not worth the hype or the price.

I was walking past Sweet Lu and it looked interesting so I decided to try it. I asked for a suggestion and they recommended the tropical fruit mochi lato. It looked cute enough but was pretty ordinary at the end of the day. Fir $8.50, some mochi dough, a scoop of ice cream and a few bits of tropical fruit. Nothing to get too excited about.

The pistachio crossaint is to die for! Since I don't have a sweet tooth I prefer less sweat stuff. This crossaint has an amazing buttery filling that takes you to heaven. If you ask me, this sweet snack is worth the sin! Also, the staff is friendly and they advise best for the client's needs. Thank you!

  • Adhi Sappareng

A cute place for a dessert time. Its full of pink colours with flowers, they have 2nd floor as well. The egg tart was amazing, the drink just enough sweet. Cozy place with tired staff hahahahaha but they still gave us good customer service tho. The place is in the heart of Newtown

  • Winnie Wan

The sweets were very tasty and unique. 100% recommend the croissant with pistachio cream, the filling is absolutely divine! There are so many flavours of tarts, they are all very unique and the flavour combinations are very nice. The decor is also super nice, recommend for a date!

  • Anonymous Foodie

Delicious grape hurricane with a generous portion of grape and boba. The pork floss tart was the perfect balance between savoury and sweet, and had a crunchy flaky pastry with creamy filling. Good value for money at slightly under $15 for both.

  • Nathan Hague

Really crispy quality croissants and their gelato was as creamy as Messina's. Staff suuuuuper lovely and made some suggestions that resulted in hazelnut gelato. Heaps of delish looking tarts and cakes, and all are instagrammable. Totally

  • Mark Butler

Great coffee and tasty crossaints and cakes. Chinese style boba and some Taiwanese and Chinese treads I haven't seen elsewhere as well as twists on Macau egg tarts. Exceptionally friendly service. Upstairs seating area is nice too.

  • dickie

Absolutely disgusting. Was served by a teenage girl who ignored me for 30 mins to talk to her friend only to make instant coffee from a squeeze bottle.

Very lovely staff and delicious interesting flavours and toppings. Not sure if the wafer was part of the standard toppings but the staff forgot to put a wafer on mine :( taro paste and mochi paste were both delicious though

  • Jason Roy

The atmosphere was great. It is a desert place where I was surrounded with these lovely people. According to number of people in this premises. The sound level was still not too loud. The cakes were good, not too sugary.

  • Martini Kieth

What an amazing experience. The people working were very nice and accommodating and the food was amazing. I really like their croissants. Very light, crunchy, flakey, and just amazing. Must stop when visiting Sydney.

Desserts are amazing. However staff are poorly trained. Enquired about nut allergy and the staff had no idea. Need to do better. Could not communicate properly on other simple questions.

Pizzas are excellent, well worth the price and half hour wait, especially if you can enjoy the banter between the people running the joint and their regular customers
