We have have a deck facing onto a great view, but requiring summer shade through a wall mounted umbrella. It gets windy up there so we needed something sturdy. We had a look at the Paraflex and then saw details of the New Zealand engineered Shadowspec Retreat 2.7 m Hexagonal umbrella. We were impressed by its manouverability and apparent ease of operation compared with Paraflex. Terry from Sydney Shade had a first small batch of the Retreat coming in and was extremely helpful and flexible in getting one to us. We are delighted with the product which looks robust enough to stand up to the potentially windy location, and is as easy to put up and take down as the video suggests. The construction seems absolutely first rate, and the gas lift makes putting it up much easier than the competition, as does the highly innovative fold down hinged central rod. We are pleased we took the risk of buying sight unseen, and thanks to Terry and his New Zealand counterparts in answering our list of questions! Oh - and Terry is straightforward, and true to his word on every aspect, which is nice to experience.

We were trying to find a solution for our backyard whereby we could have an umbrella without the need for a giant base. Came across Sydney Shade and installed a triple cantilever umbrella. Looks great and is so easy to use. A great investment that compliments our backyard perfectly. We plan to add a fourth umbrella to complete the set up and having used one of the built in LED lights will definitely be getting more ready for summer evenings around the pool. One of the great features is having the ability to rotate the umbrella and choose to have them all up or just the ones you need. This allows you so many options in the set up and use and the kids love having part of the pool in the shade. We were a little worried about having the umbrella set up simple bolted to our concrete but we have had no issues and so are very happy. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a great umbrella for their backyard. The whole process from initial contact with Terry to install and hand over was super easy with no issues. very professional.

I found that Sydney shades were excellent in providing me the requirements I needed to install my new cantilever umbrella there service and communications where fantastic it was a pleasure to deal with such professionalism. After doing more than 2 days of research ,Sydney shades explained all my needs ,installing the cantilever umbrella which required unique modifications to support my needs to fit,plus be installed in a complex place the results were great. Terry was informative that this may not happened and was very honest in the process. In the current lockdown environment it could have been a risk in trying to purchase an outdoor umbrella that suited our requirements of size and space - remotely. From the time of my initial inquiry (sent over the Easter weekend) Terry phoned very promptly and worked through with me all the computations and permutations of what would be ideal for us. Not being the most competent DYI exponent I took his recommendation of assembling the umbrella myself - as expected I found something that to me was insoluble - but a call from Terry (again on a Sunday) solved my problem and we're more than happy with the result. Our organisation needed a solution for shade and had a few options. When social distancing came into effect it complicated our decision but the shade umbrellas gave us that clear definition and allowed us the flexibility to control the seating. The quality is excellent and the service also 5 star from Sydney Shade. We installed the umbrellas ourselves and it was relatively simple. We purchased 2 quatros and on duo and people have already complimented the quality of the finish. It gives our outdoor setting a professional look for our café that a shade sail could not bring. Highly recommend the shade umbrellas from Sydney Shade and they are our first choice when we require more.

Having just installed our umbrella it looks great and functions well, although I feel it needs a bit more muscle to put up and down than is suggested in the video. My wife probably won't be doing it. It's always nice dealing with a business that backs up a solid product with knowledge and care. Terry is very communicative and clearly has empathy with his customers. There were a few questions that came up and were answered precisely. I have one suggestion which is to copy Ikea and include all the fixing bolts, allen key, etc. to remove any doubt about what is required for installation. In the end though, that wasn't really a problem for me with Terry's guidance.

I bought the Utility double umbrella and am really happy with the quality of them. They are easy to put up and down and the cover for when not in use is a super clever design considering the height of the umbrellas. Terry installed them on my apartment terrace and gave great instructions of how to operate them (actually very quick and easy considering their weight and height). Not a cheap product but worth the money if you are looking for something that looks good, will last and is easy to operate. The quality is outstanding. Thanks for looking after me Terry.

I recently purchased a Unity Quatro from Sydney Shade. They were a great company to deal with - very professional in all aspects from initial contact, to product advice and selection, to installation. Very reliable also. I contacted Terry at Sydney Shades in early December on the unlikely chance that we could get an Umbrella installed by Xmas Day. He was very helpful in providing advice on the mounting location, colour etc. True to his word he turned up 2 days before Xmas and installed the Umbrella. We are thrilled with it. We bought the 4m octagonal serenity model. It was more expensive than most models we saw on the market BUT the quality is fantastic and it looks amazing. After seeing this umbrella, other brands looked so inferior so we decided to invest in this one. Terry is very passionate about his products and was very helpful. The installer was also so friendly. Installation was seamless and in accordance with the time indicated on the quote. I ended up with a product that was better than I expected. Five stars out of five.

Terry was very responsive throughout the process, installation was quick and professional. Due to the heavy rains, have not yet had the chance to use the umbrella yet, but it looks great. I bought a umbrella for thousands of dollars and when it came to the protection cover, they invoiced I paid in DEC 2021 and never heard anything until I called Today. Then they sent it. No apologies no communication. Very poor service and they think it is OK!!! really
