The school is amazing, most of the teachers are great, I have gotten a lot out of this school, the only reason why this is one star is Ms Blake. Now get ready to read my rant. In the realm of education, teachers play a pivotal role in shaping young minds and nurturing their talents. However, not all teachers excel in their profession. One of the prominent flaws in Ms. Blake's teaching is her stubbornness and her inability to see when she is wrong. She often takes the most inefficient way to handle problems, for example, she will make you have a conversation with your classmate but you mustn't let her hear a slight increase in the volume around the room which is ridiculous. Next she will be late to class for 30 minutes, not even show up and call the class "slow" and "behind on schedule" Another concerning aspect of Ms. Blake's teaching style is her bias in her students. She tends to favour certain students based on her personal preferences, rather than objectively assessing them. This bias creates an unfair and unequal learning environment, where students may be seen to be frustrated by her judgement. For example, when the entire class was supposed to read a text some kid starts to read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Now instead of Yelling at that one particular student and calling him atrocious things, she lightly reminds the boy to stay on topic. Moreover, Ms. Blake's bias hinders students' self-esteem and confidence. By consistently praising a select few and neglecting the potential of others, and she discourages students. Ms. Blake's teaching style lacks the ability to engage and inspire her students. Art should be a subject that encourages self-expression, fosters curiosity, and ignites passion. Unfortunately, her uninspiring and monotonous approach fails to spark the enthusiasm necessary for students to fully embrace their artistic journeys. Next she also has this unnatural trait of having her head vibrate at every second with giving others this dirty look. This lowers the mood for the entire class as no one wants to be in the same room with a living cranky bobble-head. Furthermore, just know that you have her for your next class can spoil of good day as you know that your life is about to become a living hell for the next hour and a few minutes. Then when an old student, or a teacher comes in she puts on this nice person facade and smiles brightly, and full of positivity. And knowing this makes me feel mad as she is fully capable to act nice but she just won't do it on a normal basis. Effective teaching requires a balance of expertise, adaptability, and open-mindedness. Regrettably, Ms. Blake embodies several flaws that undermine her effectiveness as an art teacher. Her stubbornness, bias, lack of student engagement, and this hideous look all contribute to her making your life just ever so slightly worse.
I attended this wonderful school and I can confidently say that Sydney Tech nurtures the most supportive communities/alumni. I enjoyed my time learning social science, mathematics, english, history, technology and science. In my personal experience, science/maths subjects are quite self paced and most students rely on extra tutoring services to do well. Though all the staff at Sydney Tech are hardworking and I would like to thank very single one of these people for doing their jobs (nurturing great students). I would also recommend seeing the school counselors, as well as the SSO and your year adviser for mental health support during challenging times, they really help. In my lifetime, I have always stood by my decisions without any regrets, since those decisions made are quite well thought of. In this spirit, I have no regret in transferring to Sydney Tech in year 8-->9. I would like to personally thank the deputy principal, Mr Grinham for admitting me into the school and supporting my mental health throughout my schooling. I would like to personally thank Ms. (pronounced Mizz, not Miss) C. Steel for taking care of my mental wellbeing as my year advisor. Once a Techie, always a Techie. I will continue to live out the school motto: Manners Makyth Man. (Manners Makes a Man) throughout my lifetime. Thank you.
The only bad thing about this school is mister Grahamand the toilets. Once I had to take a dump and I spent ten minutes walking around the school looking for a good toilet... I didn't find one. May I also mention that only one of the bathrooms has soap, so if you take a nasty in the toilets by the canteen you have to walk to the other side of the playground to wash your hands. The students are alright too but the year eights of 2016 really suck and they always will. And pretty much a third of our school just plays on their iPads all day, even in class, recess and lunch -So that's pretty lame. But whatever, tech is great and most of the teachers are pretty good but I don't even know half the staff here. I was going to put only three stars because of mr Graham (I don't care how it's spelt) but I made it four stars because of the bomb threat on the third day of school of 2016 ~that was pretty cool
Very good school. Good canteen with friendly P&C. Very ethnically diverse as well so no real racism or any stuff like that. Its full of the sick lads and always beats SBHS at sport such as cricket and soccer. It is very smart as well, with students coming top 5s and 10s in their respective subjects. One guy is Chester Cao who came FIRST in the STATE for Engineering studies. Another Guy whose name is Tandee Wang who pretty much got top 5s to 15s in the STATE in vey subject he did, including EXTENSION 2 MATHS. There was this OTHER guy called Alex Zhu who came THIRD in the STATE for EXTENSION 2 MATHS. Overall its a very good school with quality teachers who are also very helpful and it is good at sport. What more do you want? MANNERS MAKYTH MAN
5/5 would have Trotman again. Love his Little Timmy jokes, oh, and his Maths teaching skills, having over 40 years of experience, really does show. The staff are friendly, except for Deputy Grinham (understandable, gives detentions, he's scary at times), and there are some real teachers who truly enjoy teaching, creating memories that will last the rest of one's life. The students are (mostly) gifted and talented, and their maturity in tackling school life and exams is at the highest level. Overall, an excellent Academically Selective School, and is local too, so travel is not too long (unlike Sydney Boys), I really enjoyed my time being here, and your son is likely to enjoy, and do well here, also. Tech Pride!
I was a student back in da good ol days ... 1973-77 ..... Bob Booth for science, Albi Jenkins for Maths, Mr Gardner for English . . Don Bitmead & R.A.A.F Cadets.... We had a pool, sports days. And then there was always "The Saints" across the road Top school, top teachers, top days !!
The Zinger burger was absolutely worth it. I got the 24 nuggets for $10 and it was soo good. Customer service is great they actually give u the food u want and their food is never raw. Overall, a great restaurant.
Very disappointing. I sent my daughter here, and the students there told her to go away. Yikes i don’t understand why they would be this mean to her but whatever... im still going to send her here.
I love the school their inclusive and the teachers are nice and understand me There is a bit of a racism problem though anyways it is a great school and I will always make my best experiences here
Broooooo, this school be holding that tech pride, GYAT my boi aarizzy got that build and b in engineering, my boi thinks he can transfer to nsb , someone revoke his tech pride …
great school except if you do poorly in one subject u are bound to be placed in the bottom class with people you dont like (cough cough bottom science class cough cough)
School is good but some of the teachers are mad and some teachers are just too lazy and we played games all day. Some teachers are really good. Deserves 4 stars.
i am personally i feel very offended as i was slandered and bullied when i entered the school and i felt really left out because of my gender
I left STHS in 1963 the standards set were strict but fair you always got back with interest what you prepared to put into your education
this school is awesome, the education is 10/10, the techie boys are delectable, would recommend to the oc kids from hurstville
I currently go to STHS and it is a pretty good school, which helps you further develop in academics, however not in sport.
great school but needs more infrastructure and renovations, would be 5 stars if yao ming wang was still at rosebay
