I brought my pet in who was struggling to breathe and I believed he had reached a point where there was nothing more we could do to make his life comfortable. I was called in from the waiting room as the “pet who was here to be euthanised” Holding my darling close, my face wet with tears, I went into a holding room where the person (who I am not sure was even a vet) explained to me that they would gas him first until he was asleep and then stab him in the heart with the needle. Not once did he ask to look at my boy or examine him, he just asked me to place him in a box. I was offered his ashes, but after hearing the cost, I declined. I was absolutely distraught and returned to the waiting room where I was told that the bill was R800+, my pet weighed no more than 300grams. R800 for what? The consultation R500 (there was no consultation) + R300 because it was after hours (it was 4pm on a Saturday and they are a 24hrs vet) I eventually paid the money so that I could just get out of there, I was in pieces from losing my baby and I didn’t feel like arguing was going to change anything. I feel like I was taken advantage of at my most vulnerable. When I had gained the confidence to bring this up with management a few weeks later, I was told that Cara, the practice head would get back to me. She hasn’t. My boy, Jackson, was a rodent. They charged me R800 to put my pet rat to sleep, they don’t care about the suffering of animals, they just want the money.
Poor service. I was reffered to Tah by the Pdsa after they diagnosed my Pug with the Parvo Virus. I rushed through to TAH with referral letter in hand. When we arrived atTah, i told the one receptionist about my dogs condition, she just said that all Sunday visits is emergency cases and that i had to wait my turn. We had to wait for over an hour for someone to even look at my dog even tough i told them that it is an emergency and that my dog is struggling to breath . When someone did eventually come to see the dog, they were more concerned about running costs by me over and over again instead of giving my baby an antibiotic. I told them that i was willing to pay the R12 000 and begged them to proceed with the treatment urgently but instead the kept rambling on and on about costs. One person even suggested that i take my baby to the free animal clinic in Epping for treatment. Did that person think that i did not have the money for my baby's treatment? After wasting all of that time, My baby eventually died right there in the waiting room. When i phoned them the next day to ask when i can get my baby's ashes, the same receptionist told me that IT, meaning my dog, was collected this morning so the ashez will be available in the week. A note to that receptionist... That ITwas my puppy, my baby so kindly have respect
We have been taking our elderly Jack Russell to Dr. Tutt for eye issues. Our experience has been horrible. She is rude to human beings and abusive to animals. During one visit, Dr. Tutt took our dog to another room and shortly after we heard an awful cacophony of yelling and squealing. We were unsure at first if this was our dog making these noises, but after our last experience we think we can confirm it was. On that visit, while attempting to apply eardrops, our dog freaked out a bit, baring his teeth but not actually biting. At this, Dr. Tutt absolutely lost it, grabbing our dog and shaking him violently, while yelling, “YOU DON’T DO THAT! YOU DON’T BITE PEOPLE!” She then proceeded to slam our dog down onto the examination table, take a large medical string of some sort and tie it tightly around our dog’s snout and neck. He was visibly uncomfortable, struggling to breathe, but she ignored this and continued to act as if everything was normal. We were frozen with shock during it all. All we wanted to do was get up, grab our dog, and leave. If you experience something similar, speak up and advocate for your pet. They can’t speak for themselves. We are never going back to TAH. If you experience something similar, speak up and advocate for your pet. They can’t speak for themselves.
I visited TAH on Saturday, my fur baby was vomitting, had diarrhea and wasn't eating since Friday. The front office (reception) was very welcoming and professional. Upon seeing the vet (he never introduced himself so don't know his name) he was more concerned about being bitten again. He did the examination ie temperature and abdomen check. He then said he needs to do a scan (and yes he used the term ''scan'') and left with my fur baby. He was probably gone for about 5 minutes and came back informing me he cannot see any abornomalities. I was quite surprised how quick the ''scan'' took. He gave my fur baby 2 injections and sent us on our merry way. On Sunday my fur baby still had no appetitie and I took her to a clinic (NPO). The vet there couldn't understand how TAH could have done a ''scan'" because its quite costly. In a nutshell I will never take my fur baby to TAH again. They seem to be all about the money. FYI my fur baby has been hospitalized and I'm hoping for the best. I wish there was a button for zero stars.
Dr Casanueva handled my stressed cat very poorly and with very little compassion. She did not listen to me and was very quick to book her in for sedation and testing. I took a healthy cat into the vet that day but after a short while was given a serious diagnosis. The medication given made my cat very ill. I asked every question I could think of before leaving the vet that day but this was never communicated to me as a possibility. In fact, they told me that I wouldn't notice any changes in my cat because the dose was low. When I contacted the practice, they said the medication is trial and error and told me about a different option which would cost me another large sum of money. The testing and sedation cost me R3500 about which I was never asked any questions, I was just billed. This practice is completely inconsiderate, have no compassion and are just money - hungry. I will never take my pets there again!
Excellent caring service! Then.. Now... 7 months later got called about an outstanding account. My neighbour was responsible for the account initially and was more than happy to pay and had settled the initial invoice. They had the wrong email address for me so I never received an account. Whoever phoned me was obnoxious. I phoned and left a message for a Manager to call. A few days later the Manager did not call back, so I called again and was told the Manager refused to call me and said I must just be handed over. MY neighbour called in to say they were happy to pay the account. but they REFUSED to send it to her and said she must get it from me. That was never going to happen as I had never seen an invoice!!! Absolutely shocking behaviour for someone in a management position. This is not the way you treat people, unbelievably unprofessional!! Just like to add, the receptionist was lovely.
I wish we'd discovered this vet practice sooner!! From my first call to reception to the goodbyes when we left, our experience was excellent!! Melissa at reception took the time to listen to me and accommodate me with her soonest appointment. Dr Kate, the vet was waiting for us on arrival with a gentle, kind but efficient and knowledgeable manner. She immediately diagnosed our Boereboel with Vestibular syndrome...even our dog seemed soothed by her easy way. She explained everything to us, treated him and gave us medication fully explained. She never rushed, took plenty of time, had the facilities on site for blood tests etc. Really, everything was amazing. Our dog was showing signs of recovery within 2 days and she assured us if we have an emergency, just show up as they're 24 hours a day. Lots of parking, help with off loading if necessary, I could keep going....
We cannot recommend the team at TAH Rosmead enough! A month ago, our Boston Terrier was brutally attacked by another dog. He suffered severe internal and external injuries and remained in a critical condition for what felt like a lifetime. We weren’t sure that he’d survive his injuries. Despite all odds, he came home to us after spending 10 days in their ICU unit. We knew we had a long road ahead but the team at TAH Rosmead made it that much more bearable for us. Dr Kait, Sr Rox, Dr Travis, Sr Alexis, Dr Colin, Dr Rightwell, and ALL the other reception and support staff at TAH Rosmead - THANK YOU! Thank you for your compassion, your kindness, your patience, your time, your guidance. Thank you for being invested in our boy and for doing everything in your power to make sure that he came home to us. We could never repay you for all that you have done!
When a previous vet at a different practice wanted to euthanise a dog whose seizures flared up, Dr Van Zyl at TAH Rosmead had no problem working out a new treatment plan (two, actually). He was even able to easily confirm a conclusive hydrocephalus diagnosis – something no other vet in SA or the UK had been able to do without exorbitant expenses. Though the new treatment plan was not without trial and error and other emergencies, at no point was I made to feel like time, patience or hope was running out for my sick dog (who is now well on his way to being a healthy, seizure free dog again). From reception to the doctors to the nursing staff, everyone at the practice is very professional and caring (and ready with tissues when owners get overwhelmed). Absolute best care:cost value I've had access to, would 100% recommend.
So i had visit the Cape Animal Medical Centre again yesterday after 3 yrs to get advise on my senior female cat. She was a very good age and had a great life for 20 years. She had not been feeling well for 3 days and we decided to have it looked at. Thanks to the wonderful staff and doctors @CAMC they immediately assisted us and allowed us to be around her while they examined her.. The doctor was warm towards phoebe and treated her so well. It made me feel so comfortable and happy knowing she was in good hands. Unfortunately we weren't given great news and had to put our beautiful angel Pheobe to rest... We miss her dearly. We were very pleased on the overall experience we had received from CAMC. They have taken great care of both Garfield and Pheobe... #catlovers#partofthefamily#alwaysloved
We took our 10 week Rottweiler to have his second vaccination on Monday - he was doing well, very active, lovable and full of life. The following day he started vomiting and we called the vet - they said we need to monitor him, it might be a reaction to the vaccine but he only got worse. Took him in on Wednesday, had to wait an hour outside as they were seeing to their bookings first - while our dog was outside sick and vomiting and was in need of urgent attention. Did a test for parvo and said it was negative just a viral infection - gave panado, some recovery food and something for inflammation and sent us home only for him to get worse the following day and pass away last night
This is a review of Kim Tutt and not TAH: Terrible communication and absolutely selfish in the way she runs her business. Charges a fortune to operate, but not able to report back to me all day about how operation went/whether my doggo is awake/alive/doing ok. I’ve called TAH about 6 times today, but not even receptionists can tell me his status, because apparently she’s in a different area of the hospital. Surely some of her revenue could be spent on comms with her clients. My fur baby was dropped off for an operation at 7:30am and it’s now 4:30pm and I’ve still heard absolutely no report back. I’m considering driving there to see what’s happening with my doggo
I was very impressed with the staff and the facility, as they were very professional in addressing the needs of my dog who was severely injured and bitten by a pitbull in the area. It is evident that the staff are highly skilled and very knowledgeable in what they do, and this allowed us to be comfortable in leaving Patsy in their capable hands. I am also very appreciative of the post-procedure treatment, as the doctors and staff have been providing me with the much needed additional guidance via email and telephonically, on how to care for her at home and help speed up the recovery process.
My sweet baby ferret, Iroh, somehow managed to climb a book shelf and squeezed himself out of the bedroom window. He fell an astounding 8 stories down on to the hard concrete. Knowing you are 24 hours we raced to your hospital. I honestly believe that it was due to the increadible speedy care that your staff gave him in this first 24 hours, that my beloved Iroh is still alive today. Thank you so much for the love and care and empathy your staff have given us and little Iroh. It is miraculous he survived the fall at, but we know it is because of you, he has survived his injuries.
They do love your fur baby almost as much as you do. First time I took my fur baby there was an emergency after hours visit. They were extremely helpful, welcoming, warming and took care of my animal quickly. No need for an overnight stay. The doctor very quickly and professionally handled my fur baby and send us on our way. Thanks again for the love. Phoned again the other night and they even phoned me back afterwards.
Wanted anti-inflammatories or painkillers for our elderly dog who was attacked this afternoon. Refused as they want to see the dog first so they can charge a consultation fee. They quite happily let me leave without any painkillers because they don't really care about a dog being in pain - they want that consultation fee. That's all they really care about. Money. TAH you showed your true colors this evening.
Pup had a bit of a scare with an older dog that had him pinned down and hurt his leg a little. This was the closest 24hr vet, so I brought him. Considering the volume of calls they were getting and the fact that it was late on a Sunday, I was impressed at the reasonable wait time. After hours rates are quite steep though, so be prepared for something a bit higher than your regular vet bill.
Such a great experience! Dr Travis has a lovely manner, was so thorough, and gave us such practical advice. I especially appreciated that he discussed pros and cons of various treatment options with us and erred on the conservative side, given the limited benefits and greater risks associated with certain options. And the surprise was a very reasonable bill, which we paid with gratitude.
Just had one of those experiences where your pet is acting like they need to be taken to a 24h vet after hours but upon consultation is suddenly cured... Like I've come to experience from TAH the team was very welcoming and professional upon arrival, and Dr K. Reabow was great at checking over my boy and explaining the steps she was taking, while dealing with all the retriever loves.
So impressed with the service we received from TAH. Took our elderly dog in after hours and she was treated almost immediately by very friendly staff (even under extremely busy conditions!). Treatment and tests were done so quickly. A special thank you to Dr Kate for being so helpful and providing us with all necessary information. Will definitely be back in the future!
Professional outfit but there's was a bit of inefficiency with the billing. After the appointment I stood at the front desk waiting for them to process an invoice for more than 10 mins. Also was a bit bummed that although there's royal canin branding everywhere, they didn't stock royal canin wet kitten food. Tip..call first and make an appointment.
Dr Sayed was so very kind to us when we had to put our cat to sleep unexpectedly. Very grateful for how he handled the situation. Would highly recommend him. Also a big thank you to Dr Lau for staying late the night before to see my cat, as the other vet was busy with an emergency. A friendly, kind and compassionate team from vets to receptionists.
Absolutely amazed with the whole experience - especially since being a newbie client. The staff is amazing and Dr Malan van Zyl is a genius. Best of all is that they can do all the tests within one visit. All diagnostic imaging was done in one go. Won't go anywhere else if I can help it. Thank you for your amazing and compassionate service
Had a bad experience - brought my cat in with a clearly injured LEFT leg - after the cat was x-rayed, the cat had his RIGHT leg bound up, despite my questioning this. I wasnt shown the xray until 4 days later - Xray showed a clearly broken LEFT leg. The Practice Manager investigated the incident and arranged a refund of all charges.
Would not recommend for anything other than an emergency. Every single appointment I’ve made has been a waste of time. You’re left waiting for up to 30min before you’re seen to by a vet. Reception will give your appointment to any walk in before tending to your scheduled slot regardless if you’re there on time or early.
I used TAH for the first time a couple of years ago when my cat fell ill after hours. He was handled with so much care and love. I just brought him into TAH again - and we were met with the same love, patience and care. I would highly recommend TAH for all your fur baby needs! Thank you TAH for your amazing service!
I was charged a large amount of money for the services but I had no appointment so that's fair. However, my cat got treated here and still has the same flea problems after a week of treatment from the vet. She is still bleeding on top of her head from trying to kick off fleas. I do not recommend this vet.
There are much better Vet choices to be honest, they might be good at what they do, but not very accommodating to the term ‘emergency’ if you do not have cash on hand forget about it. Your pet will be stuck. Maybe the others branches Maybe better but Been to Rosemead twice almost like I went to surgery.
I have had to take my animals here with emergencies and routine visits. The reception staff are friendly and approachable, the vets are always empathetic and gentle, competent and thorough. I really appreciate all the care they have given my pets. Would highly recommend to anyone who will listen.
We had an amazing experience at the Cape Animal Medical Centre. Dr. C Tutt was so helpful and loving towards our 2 year old Boston Terrier "Chase" that had cancer in his jaw. Dr. Tutt was able to remove everything. We are so grateful …
We mostly use TAH for emergencies, so our visits have tended to occur under less than optimal circumstances. The vets and support staff here are compassionate, kind, and profoundly respectful of clients and their pets. Two of our cats have
Very disappointed. When I initially brought my cat in for his burst abscess, they were so swift and quick to assist however the vet on duty made me feel very judged and uncomfortable. I collected him 24hrs later and followed the guidelines
My dog was sick over night and I went in and greeted by carri at reception she helped me to the best of her abilities and reassured me that all would be ok with my dog I further explained to her my financial situation and she told me that
My 15 year old border Collie became ill suddenly on Christmas day. We took him in and received very good and empathetic treatment from Dr Solomon. He had had a stroke and for a short while seemed to stabilise. We took him home. However he
Sent my boyfriend (who is black man) to buy cat food at 23.30. We had run out, so the 24 hour vet down the road is an obvious go to. He was racially profiled at the door. No one asked him what he needed. Instead the two staff spoke about
Our boy had a partial jaw removal surgery, and could not have been in better hands. Dr Roxanne has been incredible from quickly confirming his diagnosis, to answering our endless questions with patience and understanding, and frequently
The most empathetic group. It was a very difficult time for us when we lost our fur baby. She was old and tired. We didn't realise the degree of her illness. We had to make the decision at the hospital to lay her to rest. They were very
Great location in the Kenilworth area with a back up generator when the government decides it's time to put off the lights again. Currently have a special running with Hills, buy a pack of dog food and receive a free toy for your canine
I had a bad experience at TAH Rosmead when I took my cat there with a blocked urethra. After two days of catheterization he was still blocked and terribly traumatized. I then took him to the 24/7 emergency service at Panorama vets. The
I tried to get information about the emergency unit and called the no provided but gave up eventually as there was no answer. We took our dog to the Philippi animal welfare hospital and was given a wonderful service for a small fee.
The receptionist and staff were kind and helpful however, surgery was going to cost R25 000 to rewire our kitties jaw. Since it's one of few animal hospitals in the southern suburbs their consultations and costs are quite pricey
I took a baby bird to the hospital (I always took birds who had fallen out of nests) to Accuvet. Now it is TAH they said that they don't take birds. It is sad that personalised services go down when corporate entities take over.
Entered the store with the intention of a quick catnip purchase, only to endure 15 minutes of silent neglect while others fitting the store's "normal profile" were promptly served upon entering, which was extremely frustrating.
Our cat got badly injured and we brought him to the emergency room. Dr Kaitlyn was amazing and took such good care of him. We are so grateful for the kind and compassionate service we received from her. Thank you, dr Kaitlyn!
I've come to TAH a couple of times for emergencies for my pets. I've felt very at ease that someone is always willing to accommodate. I've also has very administrative after care service from the reception. Thank you!
Amazing service! We had our dog there at around 9pm and the level of compassion and professionalism we experienced from the staff was so comforting and reassuring. Will absolutely take my pets there again
The gentlest, friendliest, kindest and most compassionate staff. The nurses are incredible, the receptionists are helpful and empathetic. Cannot recommend highly enough.
The Cape Animal Medical Centre helped us with our dog when no one else could even diagnose what was ailing him. It's a brilliant facility with incredibly talented Dr.'s.
Very professional service received. We had to put our dog down due to a stroke. The vet and staff showed us so much compassion and care during this very sad time.
Really great especially as my rabbit was treated very well and also there's not a lot of vets that handle rabbits... very happy would recommend it them any time.
I had an emergency with my leukemia cat... Dr Solomon was excellent and so was his Registered nurse! Kudos to Tah Rosemead for taking such good care of Howard
They took care of my dog with care, we did not agree on an extended stay, but they agreed to release her which was best for her she is eating and happy.
Excellent well run facility. Good vets and nurses. Saved our puppy with expert surgery and post op care when he was in doggie ICU for a few days.
Thank you to the amazing vet and staff who helped Ninja Chang tonight in ER. I won't be going anywhere else in future this is our new vet.
Well run Branch. Very busy. The Vet's seem very caring and provided my friend with all the relevant information concerning her dog.
Appointment was on time so didn’t need to wait long at all, the veterinarian was extremely friendly and answered all my questions
Pom-Pom is treated for diabetes by Dr Malan Van Zyl. He explains in detailed and ensure that you understand the medical terms
Was at this practice at 2 occasions recently, poor follow up on both occasions and even worse responses to admin requests
Had to rush my cat there at midnight on a Saturday night. They were so helpful, calm and caring with my fur baby …
An amazing team all round. Thank you for all the support, love and care you have for Mojo. We are always very grateful.
Excellent service, handing over our lost dogs and checking their chips, without charge. Very pleasant staff.
Friendly empthetic staff thats professional and well trained, your beloved pet is in good hands.
Really the best vet around. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Doctors know their stuff.
Still waiting on feedback regarding a referral that they were supposed to send for my dog.
Such helpful and polite staff in our time of need. So glad 24hr open for pet emergencies.
Dr Lau was amazing. Our dog was very nervous and she was so gentle and patient with her.
Awesome service and thorough checkup on my dog . Friendly and helpful staff. …
Brilliant, passionate pet lovers and professional staff. From reception to vet. All 5*.
I don't see why we are on hold for over 10min at a time. I don't have money to waste.
Such good service from everyone. I truly trust in the welfare of my animals here.
Staff are empathetic, compassionate and overall lovely. I highly recommend them!
Excellent vets available. Secure parking. Friendly and efficient support staff
Efficient and caring emergency staff, and very good treatment in normal hours.
Staff were very helpful , but vet could have communicated more clearly.
They must please answer the phone. So diffucult to make an appointment.
Been on hold for 15 mins and no one answers and I've phoned twice
Service was amazing and quick, but best to make an appointment
Great staff and doctors. Prompt response on emergency cases
Thanks Kate, you did a great job with Sophie and Fifi!
