One of a rich variety of cultural facilities and gardens in central Kuala Lumpur, the Butterfly Garden is a large open area surrounded by hanging mesh to keep the insects contained. A matrix of surfaced paths weave through lush greens, fountains, and pools. Gaggles of butterflies flicker through the air and vegetation while feeding on flowers and trays with tropical fruits and hibiscus petals sprayed with diluted honey to attract and feed the butterflies. These trays are along the paths and afford close examination and easy photos. Pools in the gardens are home to fish, frogs, and turtles. Inside the entrance building are exhibits highlighting the butterflies as well as other insects of Malaysia. The exhibits could use a refresh, but are still very interesting.
5 mins taxi drive from City centre or 10 minutes walk from Kuala Lumpur train station. Exceptional garden. Wonderfully set up and maintained garden. Exotic plants, trees and flowers. Plenty of butterflies flying close to the nets above our heads. Visit preferably in the morning when the butterflies are fairly lively as just been fed. Good toilet facilities. Very well supplied gift shop and a little cafe providing snacks, ice cream and chilled bottles of water. Also absolutely magnificent displays of insects from Asia and dormitories with life species of beetles, stick insects, spiders and many more interesting little animals. Must see during Visit to Kuala Lumpur. Entry ticket at 30rm. Around £6..
Had an okay visit here. Smaller than expected, with far fewer butterflies (even though it was right at opening and a sunny day). You definitely feel the enthusiasm of the operators, but it's really just a nifty handmade garden and fountains, with butterflies high overhead, some fish, and extensive repetitive insect displays on the way out. Spent less than an hour - note also rather slippery/wet and lots of spiders and webs. Entry was cash only, but we didn't have any so we were ushered into the gift shop and paid by credit card there (without buying anything else).
The price seemed a bit steep when we first arrived, but we found it was worth it on entering. The place is gorgeous, and there were a lot of flying friends in there that seemed to obsessed with my hair as they kept landing on my head throughout my time spent. Many types of butterfly and moth present, and loads amid beautiful spots with water features. Lots of bugs and info and stuff on the way out at the end also, though I skipped most of this as it gave me shudders, I’m not a big beetle lover.
Recommend a morning visit at opening to have the whole place to yourself or group before it gets too crowded. Multiple fountains, pathways, aquarium displays and butterfly feeding stations will keep you interested for 1-2 hours. Indoors there are framed butterfly displays as well as a live insect section not for the faint of heart with its swarms of millipedes, black scorpions, and rhinoceros beetles. The gift shop is also pretty sweet with the best butterfly take home gifts one would imagine.
If you love butterflies and such, this is a great park! However please note this place only accept cash unless you go to the gift shop to purchase something small with the tickets. I had a blast viewing all the butterflies, fishes, and even enjoying the environment. It is a small area, so please take a slow pace and just absorb everything. Please also note after entering back the building there small showcase of every bug too.
Really enjoyed the butterfly park. Some huge butterflies and some smaller colorful ones. I thought there’d be more but maybe it depends on the season. The environment is really pleasant and lush, great for a hot day as it’s sort of shady under the netting. Lots of steps up and down so not great for elderly or prams. Fish feeding was the highlight so definitely buy the food at the counter. Nice day out for adults and kids.
The old vibe of this park reminiscing my 90's memories of this place. I'm from KL and this is one of the places my family brought me to visit 30 years ago when I was a child. This place looks like in 90's. The Malay cashier staff been working here for 30 years. The insects and plants are beautiful. Note: Narrow walkway. Only cash accepted here for ticket payment. Not wheelchair/stroller friendly. Hot and humid.
Fun place. Well worth the price. It's a bit small and lasted only 1-2 hours, which suited us fine. Not thar much variety or as much butterflies as we expected. The indoors exhibition was more interesting. Not jusrmt butterflies, but other insects. The nearby Bird Park might be a better place for kids if you want to do something for half the day though.
Good for a one time visit. Most of the butterflies belong to the species that is the national butterfly of the country, pretty nonetheless. If you want to escape the noise and heat of the city, this is a lovely place to even just enjoy the green cover, albeit with a fee. I think it'll be nice if they try to incorporate more compatible species.
Feel the nature, away from the urban noises and pollution, if you want to spend some time peacefully in the city away from the city, this is the place, very well maintained by the people in charge of the parks. I enjoyed spending time here and ended up visiting it for a few times. An amazing one for the kids as well as the elders.
Nice park... Can spend about an hour here... Lots of butterflies Saw a few of them dead on the way . Authorities need to take care.. Another thing is that there is LOT of noise around - trucks n trailers moving around - creates a bad ambience for the butterfly park.. authorities to take care of.. Rest is all good
It was 25 RM entry fee for adults but worth every ringgit. It was so lush and beautiful. There were lots of species of butterflies and then once you left the park you entered another area with more beetles, scorpions and other insects. They have lots of history about the insects native to Southeast Asia as well.
Overall a bit run down both in the Butterfly enclosure and the insect enclosures. But they did have a wide range of alive and dead insects on display which was worth a see. A heads up if you have toddler the park is not stroller friendly and all of the displays are not at a childs eye level. Cash only aswell
We had a great time here. The butterfly enclosure was packed with life and greenery. We not only saw butterflies but also caterpillars and chrysalis. We were looking for eggs but didn't see any. The exhibits on the way out are also fascinating as we got to see some very interesting frogs, lizards, and bugs.
I expected a lot of big and small butterflies flying all around me, but to my disappointment, there were only a few small ones flying across. However, the garden was blooming with various types of flowers which made it look fantastic

Theres a toilet right under the entrance
Really enjoyable experience especially for the price - I would pick this over the nearby pricier Bird Park in a heartbeat. Some of the butterflies are stunning and there are also a few other creatures to be spotted too. Being able to walk freely amongst the butterflies is a massive plus
Big garden maze for my son to run around, a lot of butterflies and other interesting live insects including beetles, scorpions, grasshoppers….. new fun experience for me and my son! Not too crowded too. And this place has free parking wil definitely come back again. …
My family and I had a blast! It's just a minor inconvenience where the place is not wheelchair- friendly, so my mother in law couldn't enjoy the place. Overall my daughter loved every moment in the park and the place was not so hot on the sunny day due to trees shading
Nice to visit if you're in the neighborhood but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit it. Nice to get close to the butterflies but most are in trees/bushes high up so you have to be lucky to get really close to them (logical of course, but I somehow had higher hopes)
Awesome place to bring the kids out during weekend. Ample parking. Advise to come early in the morning as it can quite hot in the later morning -open at 9am. Bring strollers if you're bringing the lil ones. Bird show 12.30pm

Very beautiful garden in the city of KL. Enjoyable for both kids and adults we can spend about an hour or two here. There is a wide variety of plants and butterflies all over and also a display of various insects at the exit which is fantastic.
It costs Rm13 per adult Malaysian to enter. The place is okay. But the place looks like it's from 1998 and has never been renovated. In terms if value per money, u can go to KL Bird Park or Perdana Botanical Garden. Bigger and nicer.
The park is small and you can get around it in a few minutes. But the environment is very nice. The interesting thing that is worth seeing is the museum, which also contains live animals including many frogs very nice.
I really enjoyed this place. From the minute I entered the garden through the curtain, I had a big smile on my face. Lots of butterflies. Lots of running water and nice places to sit and enjoy the peacefulness.

Not a bad way to spend 30-45 minutes in the area. I appreciated the number and type of butterflies. They also have other insects in terrariums along with a walkthrough insect exhibit.
Small one, yet full of surprises, I loved how they made up the place, more of beautiful garden with butterflies flying all over the place, most visit and visit surrounding areas too.
Little hard to get a good pick of butterfly but we're plenty there. Nice grounds with water features and fish. 30 reel for an adult to enter. The learning room at end was very good.
You get a best experience of walking with butterflies on here and they place is so good with a walking distance from national planetarium. The souvenir shop price a little bit high
They have done a great job of creating a beautiful lush tropical area in the city. There are beautiful butterflies everywhere in addition to many tropical plants. Highly recommend.
Pengalaman menyeronokkan untuk anak-anak bila dapat melihat rama-rama dengan dekat. Ada juga ruang pembelajaran untuk melihat kitaran hidup seekor rama-rama. Parking percuma.
Very calm and serene place in the midst of the city. Beautiful butterflies, streams, and collection of bugs are displayed

Very nice and better pay in cash. I love it, right like a park inside a city. I visited by myself, so it was safe to wander as a solo traveler.
Small but wonderful place! Home of thousands of butterflies species. Great learning experience for my kids.
