"As far as sights and a nice medium length ferry trip it's hard to beat"
"This is one of my favourite views in Sydney! Absolutely stunning and along a lovely walk down to Camp Cove and South Head"
"This is an incredible place that I had never heard of in Sydney before and was great to have finally discovered it"
"Left it a bit late, there's a great walking ♀️ trail great views of the pacific ocean The Gap is an ocean cliff at South Head in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, Australia"
"This place is just amazing"
As far as sights and a nice medium length ferry trip it's hard to beat. From Watson's Bay service run via Rose Bay on the Cat it goes pretty quickly from Circular Quay Wharf 2. The jetty has a fish & chip shop Doyles and a more refined restaurant in the Pub both are very crowded I'd avoid this on public holidays and school holidays if you don't like waiting in long a que for everything, standing in the hot sun please take sun protection. There is a nice walk out to the South Head lighthouse, it's steep in some parts and goes around the headland in some spots and through a bush track. The fares for a return journey arnt that cheap for a non pensioner once you pay the total costs it's not really a cheap excursion if you were taking a family out for the day I'd suggest to take sandwiches and drinks to save the waiting and food bills.
This is one of my favourite views in Sydney! Absolutely stunning and along a lovely walk down to Camp Cove and South Head. If you're not the walking sort, this view is only steps away from the bus stop or just across the park from the ferry stop. Take the time to walk a little way along to Don Richie park, commemorating a resident who saved hundreds of lives over decades to chatting to those wanting to take their lives on the cliffs. If you need to talk to someone, Lifeline is 24/7 and can be reached at 13 11 14. Well worth the visit! Impeccable views.

This is an incredible place that I had never heard of in Sydney before and was great to have finally discovered it. My partner and I arrived around sunset and got not only before unseen angles of the city but with a colourful backdrop. The cliff hear are a beautiful site to see and to get hear it’s only. 22 min ferry ride from circular quay and a 5-6 mins walk from ferry dock so it makes it an easy visit for most. When you arrive you will see some of the several viewing platforms hear to see the city and the sea cliffs so allow a little time to take it all in
Left it a bit late, there's a great walking ♀️ trail great views of the pacific ocean The Gap is an ocean cliff at South Head in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, Australia. The area, which faces the Tasman Sea, is located in the suburb of Watsons Bay. Although the cliff is a popular tourist destination, it has an infamy for suicides. Worth visiting

This place is just amazing. A perfect place to witness the city view on one side and ocean view on the other. I used to miss West Coast Drive ever since I moved from WA but this place is really amazing in its own way and doesn’t make us miss it. We have been here twice already and would still be our go to place when we don’t have anything planned and just want to enjoy sea with the city view of sunset & mesmerising skies.
Very much lovely on a day like today.. lovely breeze, sunny sky. Great views of North Head.. A great spot to while away a bit of time and just chill out Definitely one to check out if you have a day in Sydney.. can be a lil busy sometimes but that's why it's such a nice spot..

One of the Best & Free Attractions that u must visit when in Sydney. From Watson Bay Wharf, walked 3 mins up the steps and there... one of the most beautiful and spectacular views you will definitely love it. From there, just ride a 12 mins bus 380 to Bondi Beach. Stop at Bondi Iceberg Swimming Club. Return by the same route. Have a Good day mate!
A place to blow the cobwebs away. Take the ferry from the CBD to Watson's Bay, then climb up to the Gap viewing platform and take in the awesome views along the cliffs. Then walk along the Cliff path as far as you can before heading down through the bush back to Watsons Bay. Fantastic views, lots of sea air and great views back towards the city
Really glad we came here before learning it's a suicide spot. The lifeline number every few metres is a bit much. Gorgeous. Literally breathtaking it seems. Instead of concentrating on death every few metres can the council put up more meditation signs or things that make people want to live? Reminders of community events. Targeted ads?
Absolutely beautiful view from the lookout, with various lookouts from the way to the lighthouse, only a few minutes walk from the ferry station and close to the bus station. Very recommended for people who are travelling around Sydney

Went there on a weekend. Parking was easy to find and the access and the walk is pretty straightforward (takes about 20-30 minutes to complete). The lookouts on the way are beautiful, to say the least. I'm giving it 3 stars only because the construction fences set up at the lookouts obstruct the view.
Beautiful place to be. The scenery is amazing, blue sky, blue ocean, white waves chasing one another, behind the amazing city of Sydney, glimpse of the city, bridge and high rises. Wind can get quite strong while climbing the stairs to the top. Magnificent feeling to be up there with your dearest.
Great views but the tracks are very badly signed and poorly maintained. Met several people who were struggling to find their way around because of poor signage. Historical information boards faded. Most of the headland inaccessible because of the Navy established on it.
There is so many vantage points to chose from all with incredible views over the ocean, cliffs and the city to the west. Well maintained walking tracks. Easy access and close walk from busses and ferries. Only negative is the lack of parking in the area
Good spot to hike after a good fish and chips.. No dogs allowed - fyi The trail can lead you all the way to the tip of the island (facing Manly) and Bondi.

This is an awesome place with many cafe's and shops and the view was awesome. There is always a cold breeze blowing as there is ocean that was so huge and so beautiful this is natural beauty with mountains and sometimes there were a ship
Easy to get to by ferry from downtown Sydney. Great views in both directions, back towards the city as well as our to sea above the cliffs. An interesting bit of history to explore as well as the stunning lines of sight.
It's a place that worth to spend 2-4 hour visit if you go visit Bondi Beach. Why?? See other traveller's comment and my photos...:-)

The peninsular side that facing the ocean directly as oppose to Watson's Bay which is protected from the ocean. The view of strong wave splashing the rock at The Gap is really stunning that should not missed.
One of the best maintained lookouts of Sydney. You get the scenic view with the relaxing bench. You could even take some snacks with you to hang out with your friends. 100% kids friendly place (supervised).
Well worth the trip. Nature is awesome. The ground facilities were excellent and well maintained. Note there are several stairs so you will need to consider this if you want to catch the views
I was surprised when I found that it is easy to access from the downtown Sydney by a ferry from Circular Quay to Watsons Bay because it is located just next to the Watsons Bay wharf.
Iconic lookout in Sydney. Bit a of trek from the city but direct bus from Bondi Junction takes you there. Nice walks up the Macquarie lighthouse and around Watsons Bay and South Head
Totally amazing views. This is a must stop if you're anywhere close to Sydney. Like me, you'll end up taking a zillion pics of the incredible cliffs and dramatic views of the ocean.
Started our hike to Bondi beach from here. This is just a few minutes walk from Watsons Bay wharf. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by spectacular views of the ocean!
Spectacular view from the top. Really beautiful and not crowded. Highly recommended

Beautiful views over the ocean cliffs and back across the city skyline. Really quiet and peaceful. Easily accessible for most people, but there are a few stairs.
Gorgeous views out to sea, even better looking back at Sydney at sunset

Stunning view to all the cliff along. Have a great time to walk along. It would be a awesome place to sat down and see the sunset. Truly amazing!!!
Can get quite windy up here! The view however is worth it. Expect a few stairs to get up here so not suitable for strollers/prams or wheelchairs.
My absolute fav location. You don’t have to walk a lot to get beautiful cliff and ocean view. The park opposite also has beautiful sunset view.
Great views of the rock face that over looks the ocean. To get to look out is via steep walkway and stairs. Not wheel chair friendly.
A well maintained lookout of the surrounding sandstone cliff faces. Great for a walk along the trail, or just to soak up the views.
Nice place to watch sunrising and stars

Great shots to be had at the Gap, ocean views are obviously there but the surprise photo shot is the City Shot from the rock
Must go! Especially on a windy and sunny day. A short hike up and you can see the GAP. Accessible via 380 bus from the city.
Really beautiful walk with views of cliffs and into Sydney

On the east of wastons bay wharf, easy to walk on the steps along the cliff, and a beautiful view at the lookout.
Great view of the ocean! The short walk from the ferry terminal makes it an easily accessible natural landscapes.
Beautiful place. Busy road to park on. Be careful if you have to cross the road with kids.
Amazing view of the Pacific Ocean and Sydney city scape. Fresh air and relaxing as well.
It is a breathtaking walk and an amazing lookout, one of my favourite places in Sydney.
Beautiful views..city on one side and sea on the other..
absolutely worth it to come out and hike around
Wonderful park with a great view to Sydney
