One of NYC's most overlooked museums The Morgan Library and Museum holds unique artifacts, many fine works of art, and rare books. The museum was once the house of wealthy and powerful Gilded Age banker JP Morgan. The museum displays parts of the mansion the way that JP Morgan left it. Like many Gilded Age mansions, it is both beautiful and ostentatious. The rooms are just striking. Most of the furniture in the rooms was left by JP Morgan. On top of this Morgan collected rare books including a Gutenberg Bible. The are also sketches from artists like Leonardo DaVinci and Rembrandt. Some of the more unique artifacts in the museum include cuneiform tablets, cylindrical seals, and illuminated biblical manuscripts. Considering that you get to see a classic Gilded Age mansion and fine works of antiquity the Morgan museum is a must see museum in NYC. The museum is located near Grand Central, so it is easy to find. Be sure to purchase tickets ahead of time. You will enjoy this fine museum.

A fantastical place to be. An absolute gem.  A museum that curates a library of rare and historical books and artifacts. You can just be there for hours just admiring and soaking in the classic ambiance. The museum has 3 main rooms surrounding the rotunda, with Mr. Morgan's Library standing out head-and-shoulder.  This room has bookshelves spanning 3 stories tall, ornate murals on every inch of its wall and ceiling, stained glass, a fireplace, and the Stavelot Triptych - an altar that contains fragments of the True Cross (that Jesus was crucified on). There are other secondary galleries but nothing compare to the aforementioned main exhibit. There is a café with a seating area in open layout, 2 elevators with glass walls and doors, and urinals in the men's restroom sporting 3 different heights!. And while small, don't miss the garden outside adjacent 36th St. A pair of famous lioness statues situated on either side of the Library’s front steps.

There wasn't a lot to see. I came thinking there would be more ancient books to view and more corridors to explore. But it seems it was only a small building of JP Morgan's treasures. Definitely looks bigger from the outside. I did enjoy my time there. The halls were gorgeous. and the libraries filled with all types of bibles, fairytales, history, and self improvement books etc. There were a few exhibitions of artists. might be worth going if you're a fan of them. totally forgot their names now. the botany room of books was very interesting.

A little gem of a museum in New York. Yes, it is very small but, for its size, it sure has some pieces that are worth seeing: 3 Gutenberg Bibles, a piece of wood, supposedly from the cross of Christ, and Mesopotamian cylinder seals dating around 5000 years back, amongst others. Pretty impressive for such a small place. Beautiful building with rooms full of books that take to other times, as if you were in a movie. Great architectural combination of modern and historic ambiance.

We loved the Morgan Library! The rooms were stunning and the exhibits, which are changed out regularly, were amazing. The other art exhibitions were interesting, but not the main reason we visited. There is a café should you need some sustenance. You can buy tickets online in advance, but as we had a fluid timetable for that day we just walked in and had no issues in getting tickets in person.

Not sure what I was expecting but seeing books from centuries ago was one of them. Didn't get that BUT I enjoyed myself. The Morgan's Bibles section was definitely my favorite. I did not get a chance to enter the seeds of knowledge exhibit (small space, lots of people). Went during their free Fridays.

A really beautiful and special spot! The library is gorgeous and the atmosphere is wonderful. There’s also a gift shop and a cafe where you can get a drink or a bite to eat. I definitely recommend trying to get the free entry on Fridays between 5 and 7 pm, otherwise it’s a pretty costly investment.

As beautiful as it gets. This should be a mandatory place to visit in NYC, specially for those who have been in the city before. Consider that the museum offer free entrance on their website at specific times.
