Dear officer Duke Doa, I sincerely want to thank you for taking the time to meet with me and other building owners on the 6th of January 2015. You took plenty of your valuable time to listen to our concerns pertaining to transients invading and vandalizing our buildings and messing up our neighborhood. At the end of the meeting you promised to help. You didn’t only deliver what you promised, in my view you have done miracles and exceeded my expectation. I can write a book and it won’t be enough to describe my frustration with Topanga Police Station. I own the building located on 22156 Sherman Way since 2005. Since then, my property was repeatedly vandalized by homeless people and transients. Transients were damaging tenant’s cars, banging on tenants windows during business hours and threatening to assault them. Transients were urinating and crapping at the stores front or inside the hallways for years. Our tenants were on the verge of moving out. It is no longer a privilege to own investment properties in Canoga Park. My friend officer Sabra was made aware of these issues. Although, it wasn’t his district, he was always ready to help out. Within the last 5 months I was terrorized by a transient named Charles Pierce who was using my building as his sanctuary to collect donations. He was messing up my building by urinating and crapping everywhere. I called the police many times. I sent a long email to officer Rygh with pictures of damaged cars and vandalized properties. His response was short. He requested that my tenants file a police report and that was it at his end. Finally after I caught Charles Pierce sleeping inside my building, an arrest was made. However Charles was back after few days. I had no choice but to lock the main doors to the building, making it difficult on the transients and consequently the customers as well. Immediately after we met you on the 6th of January you created a plan of action. Within few weeks you have achieved what other members of your station didn’t achieve in years. You were always in touch with us by text and cell phone. Finally, Charles was arrested, and now I can open my building to customers and take care business. Therefore, my neighborhood and I owe you a big THANK YOU. You are one of a kind officer and a caring human being. You are an irreplaceable asset to the Topanga Station. I appeal to your boss to keep you permanently as the lead officer of our area. Our neighborhood and the City of Canoga Park need you. Please don’t leave us!! On Behalf of my neighboring building owners we thank you. Because of you, we now believe that the Topanga Police Station is really servicing our cause and needs. If there is anything we can do to recommend you and to support your station, we are here to help at any time. We owe you big time. Thank you again. Thank You Topanga Police Department! Saint Patrick’s Day a year ago was one of the saddest days of our lives; even sadder than when our son was born with Downs. Last year at this time we were dealing with Ezra, our son with Downs, who told us his older brother whom we adopted several years earlier had been “ninappropriate.” We talked and found out our other son had been raping him. When DCFS and Topanga’s Police came to our home they were very helpful! It was a very emotional, tough situation they had to deal with. They were so calm and loving with our son who had been being raped and gentle in their questioning of him. It’s sometimes hard to understand him because of his disability but they did an outstanding job and made him feel at ease and comfortable to talk in an awful situation. When they later took him and I in the police car to go get a rape kit done they put the siren on for fun at different times, much to Ezra’s delight. Over the next days, Ezra excitedly talked about his police car ride not realizing the severity of everything. We also appreciate Detective Avila who patiently answered so many of our questions and did an excellent job in working with our boys. He and the DA were so kind to Ezra, patiently listening and being understanding, even though these weren’t pleasant conversations to have. God has been good to help Ezra (and really our whole family) heal and, though the two years of perverse manipulation, torment and fear can’t be undone, at least it isn’t continuing and justice has been done! This has been a very hard year for our family but God is always such a comfort! We’re thankful God put the responding officers and the detectives who helped us there to aid us in this whole ordeal! We appreciate your service to our family and our community. Again, thank you all so much! Priscilla, for the Bonsangue Family

The police here are terrible! I went down to this police station to file an attempted assault, harassment and mail theft against another individual. I also presented the police with a video and documentation as proof that my initial intent on making reports were accurate and truthful. First of all, when I walked into the station, one police officer was on youtube, there were about 5 officers in the back eating, laughing and joking around and the detectives were drinking coffee and not even doing their jobs. We spoke to officer Franco and all he did was laugh at us and said that everyone was full of drama and he denied me to file my report. He said that it was useless and all my report was going to do was sit in a pile of papers and later get thrown away. He said, look in that room where the detectives are, they're not doing anything. I told him that I felt ignored, unsafe and I would like to file a report. He denied me my report and demanded me to stop talking. My problem still is not solved. What kind of a police officer of the law denies civilians the right to stand of for themselves by making a legal report? I had another officer at this division tell me to whoop her a**! I just stood there in shock. This division is full of lazy, disrespectful, unlawful, rude and a disgraceful excuse of cops I have ever encountered. I thought cops were supposed to help, not turn you away.

I got pulled over on a Friday afternoon (8/19/16), heading north on Owensmouth, just past Sherman Way. I borrowed my niece's Prius from my brother, and didn't notice the registration expired in May. It's been a very long time since I've gotten pulled over, probably more than several years ago. And I've been driving since I was 16 in 1976. This has to be the most "pleasant" and fastest experience ever, that I've had from being pulled over by Police Officers!!! They're usually in a neutral or somewhat bad mood, and they tend to take a very long time. Officer Colotto and his partner were noticeably in a friendly and "light & easy" mood, which I've never have experienced from police in general. I was very pleasantly surprised! And I was even more surprised & stoked when they just gave me warning, instead of the usual long drawn-out issuing of a ticket!!! KUDOS to Officer Colotto and his partner for their discretion & demeanor - ALL Law Enforcement personnel should exude the high quality of "service" that these Officers exemplified!!! AAA+

I want to Personally thank Senior Lead Officer Jose Moreno, Senior Lead Officer Jennifer Poepke also Senior Lead officer Duc Dao. They helped me remove a trespasser out of our premises. They showed professionalism and integrity to the highest extent in the whole process. The Topanga division has been incredible and these officers need to be thanked more frequently for their hard work and their service to our communities. When I first called in, I was feeling scared, helpless and frustrated. Once the officers arrived, I instantly felt safe, at ease and secured that the situation was under control. I cannot express my gratitude for these true heroes, sometimes people forget how heroic these officers are. We should treat them with the highest level of respect and always listen to them. At the end of the day they are the ones who keep us and our loved ones safe.

I often spend at least two hours a day at the Starbucks on Topanga Canyon and Gault Street while I charge my car, and it blows me away to see how fast and unsafe drivers travel up and down Topanga Canyon. There is a clearly marked pedestrian crossing area, but it is either not bright enough or invisible to most of the drivers. Pedestrians are often times nearly struck by incoming traffic from either direction. Drivers will not stop for a pedestrian trying to cross. If I may, I would highly recommend monitoring this intersection, and others along Topanga Canyon, for unsafe and reckless driving conditions. This intersection is in serious need of policing from your station.

At first, the desk officers would ask your address and tell you to go to a different police precinct but I learned from a Supervisor that they are not allowed to do it. When they tell you to go to a different precinct, just ask them to do a courtesy report. If they still give you the run around, ask to speak to thier Supervisor and they will make the officer complete a courtesy report so that you're not driving around the whole city. The officers here are extremely kind though and the lobby is very clean. Best station for a report in the valley.

West valley, Topanga and ANY force in the valley is corrupt. If not corrupt, they legitamilly believe other officers and will make you try to believe it's you. Just be careful if your truly scared , i would say Ventura County is your best shot. I proved it today (walked in there, asked for help) and thank goodness I know what im doing and have another resource (who is very aware and stated to do that as a point in reference) If your worried, wondering or concerned about an issue DO NOT GO TO ANY DIVISION IN THE VALLEY.

Awesome bunch people working here. I met two great officers, both named Rodriguez...I spoke at length with one officer who previously worked Pacific Division, who is a skate boarder, like I was, also from Venice Beach. Told him I was extremely claustrophobic, and while the social worker was doing her best to find a BHU ward, Rodriguez stuck around, and talked about the infamous Dogtown crew skate boarders of the 70's of Santa Monica/Venice. Thanks, Officer Dogtown Rodriguez.

I came to file a complaint telling the policeman I don't want him to do anything, just to accept my declaration. I was told that a neighbor screaming at me in public. Threatening me that she'll send police after me to take my driving license Accusing me wrongly for bumping her car. All of these are nothing according to the policeman I asked if I can do the same, so he said sure we won't interfere. I thought the police's duty is to protect everyone.

Arrived 1 hour ago to report a hit-and-run. the officer told me most likely this would not be investigated because traffic division has papers stacked High! I asked the officers what do I do if this happens in the future I asked do I follow the person home? The officer said YES and call 911 while you're following them. Is that what my taxes pay for??

  • Fernando G

These guys are the worst of the worst they treat persons like animals even he was screaming at me without knowing. me without doing anything when he calls my cell phone because my ex she is just acting like a witch come on guys this department needs an investigation is the most horrible experience over the phone with the police officers

  • Wendy Velasquez

Detective Rianes Pretty upsetting after his short call . Heartless over me just because I didn't want to give him a statement. Because I have an attorney already. It's my right and he got mad over it , closing the conversation with him telling me he didn't want to talk to no one and was going to prosecute me for the 5 year enhancement

Why is Daniel McGuire still on the streets? He’s gatorades street vendors multiple times and this most recent time with an axe. Arrest him! He has it out for street vendors and I wouldn’t be surprised if his next time harassing a street vendor he kills them. The blood will be on your hands. Arrest Daniel McGuire!

  • Juliet Isayan

I don’t know why the police don’t care about anyones safety anymore. I’ve been calling about a suspicious vehicle circling my neighborhood and I’ve been ON HOLD. WHAT IF SOMEONE WAS DYING?! Not even the 911 operator cared she just said I’ll transfer you to the non emergency hotline. I NEED HELP NOW!!!

On Wednesday, September 14, 2016, I called to this place to make a police report, and officer (Mark) who answered my call, after 17 seconds on the phone he hanged up me. then I called back and he did the same thing, then I tried one last time, and again, without any respect he hang up the phone on me.

  • Roberto Garcia

Very unprofessional. They are not here to serve and protect, but we still pay them with our taxes. This becomes ridiculous. We pay for them to spy on us. Now, besides privacy. What else will they take "freedom of speech" ? Technically it's been taken away.

  • Monica Palos

Laziest police dept. I've ever experienced in my life! They make you wait hours to take a report at the front desk. Terrible service...don't waste your time because they don't care. That's why we have so much crime in our community's.

  • Joe Anderson

Useless called them about 5 times would either get no answer or hung up on one I did get through was transferred to communications and was on hold for 15 minutes hung up and called the station again only for them to hang up on me...

  • Janielle Green Code Name: Raven Rose

Very hard working with an organization that is limited to assisting women and a secret society for the greater good of this world. Our Attempts have failed with LAPD officers and we are still working to connect the WE Team.

  • Gary Standke

Went here to report a theft from my house. They promptly took the report and supplied me with the information for the insurance claim. Nice and professional. I went in on a Sunday morning as it is a quiet time of the day.

  • Jason Ryan

Very unprofessional. Still waiting to hear back from them after I called to speak to a supervisor. They acted very unprofessional at my house on a call and I have it all on video.

  • Madi Thomas

Their phone system & website say they open at 7AM. It’s now 7:45AM & I’m still waiting on the door to be opened or the for the phone to be answered. Such a waste of time.
