THE OWNER SCREAMED AT ME! The hours showed that they are open until 5:30pm. I went two days in a row and they were closed prior to the closing time listed on the door and Google. The owner came back and opened the store. I asked if he was opening back up. He actually *screamed* at me and told me no and not to come in, that they’re closed. He then went inside and slammed the door in my face. I really wanted books from there and I will never purchase anything from there ever because of the owner being so nasty. I know he is the owner because the neighboring store told me so. Such an unpleasant mean man!
I'm a collector and reader of books, and spend a lot on books. It's a shame the owners have allowed rudeness to run the show. Based on reviews alone, I'll never visit. On principle. One or two reviews about rudeness is normal. This many? What is wrong with you? How dare you treat people who love books so poorly? This needs to be addressed. I read reviews of businesses and simply don't visit the bad ones and you shouldn't either. Children should never be yelled at in a bookstore by strangers! Are you kidding? Get it together. Address the issues that make you needlessly attack. Bad form, bad biz.
The shopkeeper was extremely rude. I asked about pricing, and he said all were 19.99. One of my books said 14.99, so I asked even though it is marked lower. He went on to explain that a certain author's books were 19.99. Then proceeded to pick a fight with me for asking. Pretty sure he may be suffering mental illness. Do yourself a favor and just download off Kindle.
I usually try to not post negative reviews, but I had to spare everyone else from the experience I had here. The owner was horrifically rude to me for absolutely no reason, and screamed at me for offering to help him with something he was struggling with. Looking at other reviews it seems my experience is not unique. I would recommend going elsewhere.
Very cool store. But, unfortunately, won't be back to buy anything. He was pushing the kids books but my daughter, 6 years old, wasn't interested in any of them. As we were walking out, he said, "I tried so she's not welcome." I ignored it. Then, he said it again louder. It's unfortunate that he's not a very good representative for the local authors.
Great little independent bookstore. The owner is very nice, and has personally read most of the books in the store, and he knows a lot about the authors of the books. A number of signed copies of books are stocked, and book signings are held throughout the year. It's a great place to pick up books about or set in the Southwest and New Mexico.
Terribly rude experience! I love to visit local bookstores and support local authors. Unfortunately the store shop keeper was extremely rude and unwilling to help customers. I would not recommend to anyone traveling and wanting to explore local book shops. There did seem to be an interesting selection of books.
Quirky. A cute little bookstore tucked into a small historic building in Old Town Albuquerque. Bought a signed by the author book which was fun. They have good prices and some used books also. The guy behind the counter was slightly brittle, but in a friendly albeit qurky way.
This book store had the book my mother-in-law wanted and we shopped local. Local shops need our help during these times. Thank you for having "no manure on main street" she loves that author Don Bullis. Have a wonderful 2022.
The store owner is a rude and nasty man. I wanted to walk in to browse the selection, but saw and heard how rude he was to another customer and walked out. He yelled at the from across the store. It was awful.
I appreciate that this business enforces the mask mandate. Also, the collection of books on everything New Mexico is fantastic, and I was able to find some new books.
I enjoy the collection of books this store has, and the owner is nice. He also ensures the safety of others by making sure the mask rules are followed.
John is an enthusiastic supporter of local authors. And Treasure House books thus has a huge selection of New Mexico-related titles.
The owner was exceptionally rude. I didn't stay to look around and make purchases as I do in every single bookstore I walk into.
Great independent bookstore on the plaza. Books you can't find elsewhere. Knowledgeable friendly staff and fair prices.
Rude on the phone. Cool you have a specific genre not cool you can't be polite if I ask about something outside that.
Great shop for New Mexico books and authors. Shop owners are onsite; they are helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable.
Disgusting owner, rude, foul language, disrespectful. Would never recommend this place to anyone.
Person who was there today had the worst attitude ever, so rude. I would never come back.
Best local bookstore in Albuquerque. Thanks for being so supportive of local authors.
The store features books on the Southwest and features many New Mexico authors.
