I can honestly say that I have increased my knowledge and consciousness about truth and concepts about life, politics, spirituality and the Global agenda. The owner - Brother Yoel is very knowledgeable and will challenge your current understanding and then present you with the ultimate question once you walk into his “wisdom center” and that is ...” do you want to continue taking the blue pills and continue in delusion or would you like the red pill of enlightenment?” Yes the ultimate challenge is yours. Either way he has books or knows how to get books to suit your way of thinking or academic pursuit.
I have been going here for years the owner is very knowledgeable and has had insight on many of the books that I have purchased from this store. I will continue to patronize this business and I recommend this book store to all my friends. The owner has found many out of print books that I needed for research on a multitude of subjects. Great place to browse and have a conversation with other intellectuals.
25 years...It’s a Hidden Gem in Chicago! This place is truly amazing to be. It’s rare to find great bookstores, let alone a black one. The owner is very knowledgeable on many different subjects and he’s a great resource to find other things you’re looking for outside of the bookstore. If you’re looking for a rare book this place has it or they can find it for you. Truly an amazing place.
This gem is located on the south side of Chicago. If you looking for good books to read this is definitely the bookstore to visit. It’s one of the very few black owned bookstores in Chicago. The owner is very knowledgeable about all the books at this location and will help you out in anyway possible. This is an awesome place of knowledge.
Zero customer service. Never greeted. Walked in on a conversation with 2 people that never ended. My husband and I were standing waiting to be helped for at least 10 minutes. I found uncomfortable conversations with a black man bought 5 copies plus a few other books. Did the owner forget the holidays are here and some of us gift books.
Hated my experience. I was there at 11:00 a.m for the opening of the store. He never showed up! He called a half of an hour later. I told him I was there and the business was closed and he said " tell me something I don't know." As long as I have a memory I will never go back.
It was very educational and it had very important information about the african history. We got the book "Dark Light" so far it's been pretty deep and quite impacting. I highly recommend going here if you are black and especially a black female who is into her culture.
This bookstore, and its owner Brother Yoel are the nostalgic bibliophile experience. He had every book I needed, and he is very knowledgeable on a myriad of topics. I appreciated his historic perspective and visionary ideas.
Owner, Brother Yoel, is dedicated and passionate about his business and the struggle of the black man, woman, and child. Generous with information and willing to serve the community in any way he can.
I ORDERED MY BIBLE OVER THE PHONE. IT WAS PROMPTLY TAKEN CARE IF WITH PROFESSIONAL & HONEST CUSTOMER SERVICE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR STANDARDS IN A BUSINESS TO SERVE WITH KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ALSO.
Great collection of hard to find African American History. A community commodity for decades. Here is where we were introduced to the book "King Leopold's Ghost". Very knowledgeable staff. ❤
Purchased, Professor: Griff's paperback books, at least 4 items!!! The last time, that I was here , at least 5 years ago, I bought a book called" Bloodlines of The ILLUMINATI!!!"
Called to ask a question. Guy is smacking in my ear with a mouth filled of food, and was extremely rude. Thanks to this guy, will never step foot or spend a dime in this store.
This place is so so Amazing, everything is wonderful the King that help me out was very nice and friendly, i will be returning soon
If you are looking for any black history books you can find them there . The owner is very knowledgeable of black history.
Great Bookstore. The owner is very knowledgeable and helpful. This is my favorite stop to make when I'm in Chicago.
I love bookstores that have tomes and limited editions and...other great books I will never see on Amazon website.
Afrocentric Book Store with a Charming owner who frequently shares stories about ' The Black Experience '
