I went to USPS at 9454 Arleta Ave, Arleta, CA 91331 on Thursday, May 24th, 2018.I had terrible experience because the female staff at the counter was very rude, racist, and she also yelled at me. I felt like I was bullied by this female staff who is an employee at USPS. I decided to walk away to avoid any confrontations but she yelled at me and started using bad words. I went to USPS at 9454 Arleta Ave, Arleta, CA 91331 on Thursday, May 24th, 2018.I arrived at around 1.12-1.15pm. I saw an only woman wearing the USPS uniform who was happily helping a young hispanic guy at the counter. I decided to wait patiently behind in line. I thought she seemed friendly and nice to this customer so I was glad that I made the right decision to come to this USPS location. I have just moved in this area and I had no idea what to do to send my package but I was sure that I can ask her for an advice. I was quite sure it would be okay to ask for a quick question since she spent a long time trying to help this guy. Then, another customer came in, waited for a while but left a few minutes later. However, I still waited in line while she was talking, smiling, laughing, and flirting with the guy. Approximately 5 minutes later, she finally finished flirting with the guy. So, I said “Good afternoon. How are you?” to her. She was not as friendly as when she was talking to the previous guy. She stopped smiling but at least she said “Can I help you?”. I told her I would like to send 2 packages. One package to Thailand. Another package to Amazon Company. I said to her “ Excuse me,ma'am. Can I send this to Thailand, please?” I used the word please because I thought it was the polite way to talk to people when you asked them for help or advice. However, I was shocked by her response. Instead of saying yes and doing her job, she laughed and insulted me. She made me feel that I was very stupid to ask her if I could send my stuffs to Thailand. I already felt that something was not right but I didn’t want to cause a scene. I tried to ask her one more time to explain to me about what I should do and I tried to speak slower and remained calm because at least she is about my mom’s age. In Asian culture, we always respect adults. So, I said, “ I have just moved here and this my first time. Can you please help…” However, she didn’t let me finish this time. It got worse. So, I said “it’s ok. Never mind”. Then, I decided to walk away. She didn’t stop being rude. She kept yelling at me while I opened the door. I burst into tear because I was very scared. It’s hard to believe that a government employee would misbehave and had this unacceptable behaviour. I can’t believe that this USPS staff would give me such a very terrible experience. She was very rude, racist, and she also yelled at me. I felt like I was bullied by this female staff who is an employee at USPS. I asked her how much but didn’t give me the answer. I politely asked her for help, she responded with “ what do you mean ?” Although I already walked away to avoid any confrontations, she kept yelling at me. She was nice and she flirted with that Hispanic guy but she was unbelievably rude with an Asian girl like me no matter how polite I was with her. This person she discriminated me. I believe that discrimination is totally unacceptable and it must be prohibited.

Great location. This post office has everything I need. Been coming to this one since I was a kid. The staff is super friendly. It does get very busy so be ready to wait. Also the open times are not great. They should be open an hour more later.

Marisa is super helpful and friendly. The only employee that I drive for to get helped by her. She is amazing. Other places’ workers are unprofessional.

There is no indoor drop-off box. So, wait in line to drop off? Or drop off on the curbside box in front of the location that had a 5pm pick up time?

  • Monica Martinez

It's good to go during the week around 11a.m. There's hardly anyone waiting in line and the employee is very helpful and welcoming.

No help at all, they did not accept my complain about a package that did not arrive properly because they are a “substation”.
