1. They NEVER pick up the phone. (I've tried during different times of the day) 2. They left me a package pick up slip that stated it could be picked up the next day. After a trip to the post office the next day, they state the the package is not there yet. (Complete waste of time) 3. They lost, mis-delivered, or stole my package. The tracking says it was delivered and signed for yet when you look at the PDF for the signature there is none. After going back and forth with Consumer Affairs and trying to get ahold of this location, I doubt it will ever get resolved. (Waste of $300 dollars and after speaking to consumer affairs they state "I don't think you will get the results you want from filing a claim because what they look for is if the package was delivered and signed for and that's what it says here."...thanks, even though there in no actual signature and the initials are not the initials of the addressee, that doesn't matter, only that it says it was delivered and signed for.) 4. USPS and its employees are never held accountable for what they do. (I guess we should not expect much from a government agency.)

This post office lost a $500 money order I mailed out on July 5th to pay my rent: I dropped the envelope in their mailbox on my way to work one morning, the building management where I rent an apartment said they never received my money order. I was told I had to wait 30 days to file for a trace and on top of that I had to pay a $17 fee smh :-/ the post office lost the money order but I'm the one who had to pay a fee to find it?!?!? What type of nonsense is this!?!?! Update 8/14/2023: Received a letter from the Post Office dated August 9th which says I should receive my replacement check within 10 days. Update 8/28/2023: Went to the post office to find out why I haven't received my replacement check yet, I was told the check was mailed out on August 22nd..? WHO mails a letter to a client on August 9, I get the letter on August 14th but the actual check doesn't get mailed out to the customer until 2 WEEKS LATER!?!?!?!! 2 weeks is LONGER than 10 days!!!! Now I'm stuck waiting until the end of August. I will NEVER use the US Postal Service EVER again!!

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE LOCATION Loses the packages I drop off about 40% of the time. The staff is made up of some of the rudest people I have ever had the misfortune of interacting with. They could not care less about their jobs and it shows when they will not answer a question, help you in any capacity, or when they decide it's totally ok to yell at you. It's horrifying how common it is for the line to actually go out the door, yet it doesn't inspire the employees to work any faster-- picture a snail moving through molasses if you will. The drop off window is closed more often than not despite posting a sign that says it's open all day long. If I didn't have to walk so far away to a different branch I would happily never, EVER, step foot in this pathetic excuse for a post office again.

USPS - if you’re wondering why your business is going down hill you should take a look at the rude staff that you employ here. I see in the reviews for this location, not only that this store has a low rating which is NOT surprising, but that two other people mention the same rude employee that I had the bad luck of dealing with today. it’s not a coincidence that I saw him being nice to men, but extremely rude to women, because the other reviews about him also say that he discriminates. I don’t know why it’s so difficult to just get this staff to help you mail something - considering this is a POSTAL SERVICE BUSINESS. The other reviews say his name is Jerome, and they are in fact correct that is he extremely rude and unhelpful.

  • Kay Gold

The people at this office are absolutely disgusting. I came in to make a money order, the lady's behind the cash register are so busy chatting up a storm about there kids and personal issues, which is SUPER unprofessional that the lady who was making my money order made a mistake, when i tired to tell her about the issue she got an attitude and said shes been doing this for a while don't worry it's ok... Sure enough the money order comes back in the mail, cant be cashed. when i went back to the post office to get my money back the lady tells me to call a number or go online i cant help you. There are 9 million people in New York who are unemployed. My opinion its time to hire a new staff!!!

  • Paul Schweitzer

This post office is horrendous. The rude staff are too busy counting down the days until their pension kicks in to bother helping or being nice to customers. I was told to "Step your game up, and don't bother telling us to have a good weekend after" when I walked in 15 minutes from closing time. Usually the lines are long and slow here at peak hours, so I guess it's my fault for coming at a less busy time. They are condescending, unhelpful, disgruntled, and overall angry people. Avoid this location at all costs if you must use USPS. There are two other fairly convenient locations in the Financial district.

  • Maria Ruiz

This place deserves no stars. You are in line waiting to be seen, the staff is just ignoring you giving her back and doing her work instead of taking care of the customers. What type of people work here. You ask for help and their attitude makes you want to slap them. VERY VERY RUDE - ALL STAFF ARE USELESS. THIS POST OFFICE NEEDS TO HIRE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO WORK THERE WITH GREAT PERSONALITIES. THEIR ATTITUDE STINKS...I WAS OVERCHARGED AND THEY SEEM NOT TO CARE AT ALL..PEOPLE LIKE THIS GET AWAY WITH A LOT- SOMEONE NEEDS TO READ THIS ASAP....HORRIBLE SERVICE

  • Anatoliy K

Mr. JEROME, the guy on the picture in one of the previous reviews, is extremely rude. He refused to help me to put a certified mail sticker on the envelope, explaining that customers supposed to do it by themselves and he has lots of other customers to help (there were 3 ppl after me). Dosens of times I mailed certified mail (including from this office, but with other clerks) and always sticker was attached by a clerk. Never again I step into this office and will definitely file a complain for not being served by usps and most likely being descriminated.

  • Eric Johnson

I have found this to be one of the friendliest and most helpful post offices around. The staff has always been surprisingly nice and have helped determine which shipping options are best for my needs, even going so far as to price out international shipping in advance and explain how to properly fill out customs forms. There is a pickup/dropoff window that helps line traffic tremendously. Of course I don't love going to the post office, but the staff here has made it as quick and painless as it can be time after time.

  • ruy morban

I don't have any complaint of that branch until September, the new clerk who was "take care" of me doing her JOB was on a personal phone call, I was asking her questions and she has the handsfree on the ears talking with someone, my question, if you are new in your JOB why you insult the customer with your attitude. Stay home and collect money from the government, is better to be more on honest. By the way, she was training in July and with that behavior, please Come on Branche Manage. Hire people who like to work.

  • Babble Boy

theyre really rude when alot of the issues arent caused by customers but the terrible drivers who are too lazy to properly deliver things or people who fail to input addresses and just find it easier to toss it to this place. and then you have to trek around the city asking which post office has youre stuff only for them to berate and yell at you for something out of your control. please get rid of these tenured people waiting for pensions lmao theyre so rude and catty and condescending all the time.

  • Daniel Jarrous

Really a terrible post office. Tho most in the city are sub-par. They're rude, and worst of all not knowledgeable about their own job. If there is a line of 10 people, and 3 workers. Only one will typically act as the cashier, the other two will file and complain about something unrelated their job and hold up the line. If you feel like experiencing anger and frustration at an incompetent workforce, then stop by here, and then go to Duane Reades to receive equally bad service and consternation.

  • Martine Shamzin

Seriously, we trust USPS with voter ballots? How is that sane, when they can't be trusted with the packages someone drops off to be delivered? Why does everyone keep acting like USPS is to be trusted? Yes, they have great people, but they have bad ones too. Waiting for you to screen in a package you were given three days ago. If you're not going to bother even scanning in a package for half a week, you should have no right to charge priority fees. These people just don't care about anything.

  • No Name Available

Never, never have I walked into a place where EVERYONE is rude and useless. I don't think they could be any worse if they tried. I saw them yelling "no dogs" repeatedly at a visually impaired woman with a guide dog. And then claimed my package was not there, and when they found it blamed the sender, even though it was addressed correctly, but the internal yellow post-it note had the wrong address! Comically tragic - And we wonder why the post-office service has gone bankrupt?

  • Liz York

I received an orange "we redeliver" slip in my mail box at my building, although my mailbox was empty. Why did I have to go to the post office for a box that is 9"x6"x2"? At the post office today, the rude clerks couldn't say why the carrier didn't deliver the box. I apologized for bothering them. If the clerks don't like people at the post office, the post office should at least have letter carriers that do their job. My neighbor had the very same experience!

  • HsiaoWei You

The staff was super rude. I went there with my husband because we need to mail our tax return. When we walked to clerk and she said one person only?? But we were together to deal with the same thing !! And the clerk next to me had two people together to deal with the things, why we couldn’t? And then I just couldn’t hear some words very clear and just asking me did you understand English?? Super rude and not respect people, even discriminated!!!

  • Angel Chavez

I had 3 packages to deliver at 114 John street in downtown manhattan I got there at 3:10 pm to find the place completely closed down. I checked the internet site and it said that it was closing soon at 4:00 pm it also said that it wasn't to busy this must be the way they treat their customers at all locations. To prove this customers must post a comment indicating this issue but be truthful about the comments. Hopefully they can fix this.

  • Stephanie Yoon

Staff are not necessarily friendly but I drop off my packages here on a regular basis and they get delivered in a timely manner. In one instance, I left my wallet at home so I asked if I could hold my place in line while getting it and as soon as I got back to the post office, the clerk who helped me previously let me come immediately to her without waiting in line again. All in all, this post office gets the job done.

No wonder they're going out of business. I went to ship a package, they're out of boxes. Only box they had was an express box that was going to cost $65 to ship something that would have only cost 9 if they had the right box. Then i went to fill out a label and they're out of pens. No pens in the entire building. Never again. Also on a lighter note, the people are nasty and unpleasant.

  • Cara Schroeder

Wish I could give 0 stars. Worst piece of garbage - completely rude and unhelpful and you can't ever get a call in even though they can call you somehow!!??! I tried calling them back after missing a call from them and haven't been able to reach them at all. Called every hour o n the hour. and then For 30 minutes straight on 3 different numbers. I will never use USPS ever again.

  • hharrisjr h

It's unfortunate that we tend to only write reviews when something goes wrongs. I have used many post offices in NYC and this by far is my favorite. The staff is always helpful, kind and warm. They don't mind answer my questions and it's always well kept (definitely not the case in many post offices). I'm there almost everyday and I'm glad that i'm fortunate to work by them.

  • Irina Linetskaya

Wow, I can't ever remember a US post office where I didn't feel like a penned-up animal in a cage. This post office is radically different - an open, airy, clean space where you can make direct human eye contact with the staff who stand unbarricaded - literally. They are free and friendly civilians. No glass. No gates. A revolutionary concept by modern American standards.

  • Heavy Hitter 13

avoid this place like the plague you call this place several times no one picks up .and their staff are very rude.the whole staff needs to be replaced.it looks like a senior citizens home the only thing they're doing is waiting around for their pension.whatever happened to a time when a job really meant something.well it looks like that went out the window!!!LOL!!SMH!!

  • Destiny Castro

very disappointed 2x my package was never delivered to me and it said it was delivered to a resident whats going on?! Than today they shoved my packages into a mailbox that was never suppose to be shoved my products are now spilled all over and are damaged. Every time I try to solve an issue or report a worker nothing gets solved and there attitudes are horrible.

  • Nicole Alia

Do not use the machines- have had a pleasant experience here every time however today I used a machine to purchase priority mail and waited on line to hand it over they wouldn’t take it told me to drop it I. The generic blue box and of course hours later still no tracking bc it’s probably sitting there. Buy it at the counter so they can actually prioritize it.

  • Marcelo Fornerino

I have been going to this post office for years, and the staff has been consistently rude, unprofessional, and condescending. I fear asking any questions because their response is always aggressive and unclear. They assume that you are an expert on the postal system so god forbid you have a question for them. I would avoid this post office if possible.

  • Vanessa Flynn

Gone here a few times and the employees have always been unhelpful. Recently brought 5 envelopes to be hand canceled because they are wedding invites and woman refused to do it saying “we dont do that here.” USPS website says they do and all locations should. Had to go to another location and they were more helpful. Avoid this office if possible.

  • Desiree Nda

I work at 40 Gold and it's almost impossible to get the residents' outgoing packages picked up. Packges stay at the lobby for 0ver 2weeks, and all the mail staff, with their rude attitude refude to collect the residents' packages. If this is not resloved, they might get a bigger complain to the federal Governent about this USPS location staff.

  • Salonia

Ever since this post office moved to this new location they have misplaced my packages or send them back to sender before it's time. I think the people are unsatisfied with their jobs. People you got a job be grateful. Now I got to go search for my package that they claim was delivered and it was not because I was not home.

  • Noah Chasin

When the same staff was at Peck Slip (before the branch was closed) they were professional, happy, and efficient. The John St. branch is cramped, difficult to navigate, and has made the simplest process extremely difficult. They have lost 4-5 priority letters delivered to me, and the line moves as fast as a crippled snail.

  • Jack Gill

Good people but Ian bad to serve them it was my fault I had visited this place in morning accepting good people help me good way but it was tottaly otheway round black lady help me really nice way , arguing with me like anything , asking me live premises without help , because she wants to talk on phone!!!!!

  • Mandy Chen

The tracking number shows that it was delivered at 4:19 pm on November 29. Someone signed for it. I checked the camera and no one came to deliver the package. I don't know where my baggage has gone. where did you send my package to? I’m keep calling the office, nobody answer the phone, It’s Too bad.

  • Deidrah Lamont

Very helpful, patient and kind, looked for a package for me and tracking, they let me know it was on its way soon.Excellent staff and hard working. Always answers your questions with precise knowledge. Opens on time and ready to work, very clean clothes neat looking department. Thank You.

  • Erica

The hours on Google are incorrect. They open at 7am. It wasn't busy when I arrived around 9am and was the only person in line and was asked to stand by the door while one of the employees was taking her time getting settled. When I did get helped, it was very efficient, so that was great.

  • A Kong

Worst human award. I actually think they try as hard as possible to be rude here. Unreal that these people have government jobs. I actually just left, and I’m going to UPS to pay more to ship, to not give USPS the business. Your dollar is your vote and this place is actually the worst.

  • S Park

Don't be fooled by the low ratings--happy customers don't usually write reviews. I go weekly & it's usually a cheery experience--there are lines, but the staff work pretty fast. Office sometimes seems understaffed but that's an overall USPS problem that is not unique to this location.

  • Sasha Smith

YOU CERTAINLY DO NOT EVER WANT TO GO HERE. IT IS ABSOLUTELY LUDICROUS IN THIS POST OFFICE. THE STAFF IS SLOW AND UNPROFESSIONAL. YOU ARE IN THE FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NO ONE HAS TIME TO STAND AROUND AND TOIL WITH THE STAFF. GET IT TOGETHER, FAST. NOTHING BUT AGGRAVATION.

  • Ahri D

I miss the old location on peck slip. This USPS location has and group of horrible staffs. It's like they love this job to the point where they would want to stay there all day and night. But that's not the case because the way their attitude shows they are miserable.

  • Jessica

The staff are not only incompetent, but they are extremely rude too. Refused to answer any questions about postage because I brought my dog onto “government premises”. use the normal Mail Drop off boxes where you can folks - these staff are something else.

  • Lindsay Perciaccanto

Everyone who works here should be fired. Immediately. Or the location should close if they don’t get together. There were 3 tellers, all aggressive and rude. Clearly the post office is hard up for employees because this was bottom of the barrel personnel.

  • Ben Brock

Typical government incompetency. Long lines, short hours and slow, apathetic employees. - Rarely do I even find out if a package has been delivered to me. - Always use private businesses over government bureaucracies that have no market accountability.

  • Matthew Kern

This is an example of a Post office that should be closed. I'd pay not to have to visit this place. It's depressing and frustrating. Rude, unhelpful staff - probably because the government administration is so poor the staff simply don't care.

  • Edward Morris

Incompetent, immediately combative service from a woman hoping to mask her failed life by abusing what little influence she has over mail sent by productive humans. This post office exemplifies why the USPS should be cut up and privatized.

  • Chika

This guy is mean, rude, terrible and unqualified in the service industry. I went to send international mail and copied all the necessary documents. But he doesn't know what he needs for it and he's just angry with me. He suddenly became

  • Mark Mangrich

Rotten experience. The teller is filled with bitterness and hatred for anything that walks in the door. I really tried. I smiled and asked her how she was doing. She hated me and wished I was not there. This place only earns my despite.

  • Robs S.

Everytime I come in I never have sn issue, not sure what others are complaining about. The ladies st the cashier have been great, maybe I caught them on a good day. I also may also I am not mean to them when it is my turn.

  • Mukhabbat Ubaydullaeva

Excuse me, Bonnie, Vanessa. Can you save the mail convert out of paper. Take a photo at the camera or video. Bonnie, save the mail convert and write the Telegram. Vanessa, save the mail convert and write the Telegram. OK?

  • Janiz Arroyo

Terrible this people do not at all answer there phone. I have been trying to get in contact with them to find out where is my package since the online service has not been able to give me an update since may 22 2018

  • Taylor AK Smith

They lost my package. After receiving a delivery slip, I went to pick up my package, but they said they didn't have it. Went back several times, and they said the same thing. No help. No advice. Just a blank stare.

  • Gary Chien

Wish I could give zero stars. Staff was incredibly rude and condescending to me, constantly interrupting my questions and accusing me of being dumb for not knowing how flat rate boxes work. Avoid this location.

  • Jae Gottlieb

Denise at the John street location is rude incompetent and has no interest in being at her job and makes me uncomfortable by being completely mean for no reason every time i need to go in and mail something.

  • Chef RoRo

Very nice post office. I like the location. The staff is very helpful and good customer service. The area is a busy location downtown close to Wall Street, government offices and several subway stations.

  • Maggie

The guy that works here (that everyone else mentioned) is beyond rude. He stormed to the back of the office like a 3 year old child having a temper tantrum refusing to help me. It was almost comical.

  • Tamara Crifasi

Woah. Nicest USPS experience in recent memory. The ladies here were helpful, patient, and courteous even while I and my packages were a complete hot mess. This is my new go to post office.

  • Miroslav Narodetskiy

Very friendly and helpful people working here. I am glad that I came to this postofice. Not all of them are identically good, even though the price is the same. It was a pleasure.

  • Wonsahm Chung

Only 1 lady was very helpful. The others were rude and condescending towards me. Aren`t they there to assist customers? Why would I ever want to come back here

  • Kaitlyn

The only post office I've ever been to where someone was there to ask if I need help. Despite long lines at a peak time I was in and out in a couple minutes.

  • Anu Jagannathan

Nice staff, usually not a long wait time. They did lose a package of mine once and were pretty unhelpful in locating it but otherwise this is my go to.

  • Sydney Wright

Staff were incredibly rude and impatient on a simple task. I really should have read these reviews before going there because it's very true.

  • sean s

This place is the BEST!!! The staff is excellent!!! It's the selfish and rude customers that make a terrible experience for everyone else.

  • Evie

Very helpful and courteous! Customer service is at the entrance helping everyone and avoiding super long line for just a stamp! Excellent.

  • Popa Mihaela

Terrible customer services, absolutely terrible! Had to go to a different branch for services! Please talk to them - this is unacceptable.

  • Sony F.

Hands down the best post office I have been to...Excellent customer service! Wait times are short! And the staff makes you feel welcome!

  • Hannah Winters

Incredibly rude staff. Have been going to the USPS on Hanover St instead. It’s a further walk for me but worth the social interaction.

  • Lisa Danger

I love going there, all the tellers know me quite well, because I'm always ordering stuff. They are always nice and friendly with me.

  • Pamela Rose

Lines can be long at times, but the staff are kind and helpful. I have never had any problems at this post office location.

  • Selina Robinson

Excellent friendly helpful courteous cusotmer service professionals workers and managers! My peeps! Everyone loves them!

  • Pedro Gutierrez

The staff are ok but the postage machine (the upgrade and more sophisticate) doesn't work, it was designed not to work!

  • mosquitojoyride

Staff at register (Denise) has terrible attitude, chiding me for not doing “something I should have known” beforehand.

  • Vojta Ciml

Unless you are post guru and know how everything works you feel lost. Clerks are not very friendly and helpful...

  • Jaime Bills

The staff was attentive and helpful. The service was a little slow but I was happy with their customer service.

  • maryjane

I go to this post office on my lunch break all the time, even when the line is long I’m out the door in 15 mins
