after trying to book an appointment at our (local) Ottawa Volvo dealership and not getting calls back from their service department, we decided that perhaps a trip to Kingston to get our Volvo serviced was the smart thing to do. After reviewing some of their Google reviews, it became clear we needed to make the drive. 4.8 review rating on Google is by far the highest you will find from a car dealership (all brands) across the country so we were curious and excited to see how our experience would differ from other dealership especially in regard to service. Well, it was what you should expect and then some. The service manager was expecting us and in no time the work order was processed. He offered to get us shuttle where ever we wanted to go and before the car arrived, our Volvo was already in the shop. Dennis, our driver was very friendly and professional and the whole experience felt like a private tour of the city of Kingston. He left us his private number to reach out whenever we were going to be ready so he could pick us back up. We enjoyed a few hours downtown Kingston and returned to the dealership as scheduled with the driver. Of course the car was ready. The work done was explained by the service manager but based on the recommendations of the tech, he also explained a few repairs that will need attention along the way. There was no pressure at all, just some honest recommendations. A big surprise on our invoice, there was a no charge for a software upgrade that our 2011 XC60 really needed. Try to find another dealership that doesn't charge for software upgrade?? Good luck!! The whole experience was very pleasant and it felt like we (our business) was valued. Like Dennis said, it's always nice to be dealing with a small family business. It sure felt like it. Kingston Volvo owners, you're very lucky. And if you want to see what the opposite sounds like, I would advice you to check other Ontario Volvo dealership's Google reviews (not naming anyone in particular). The only problem with owning a Volvo, it's the dawn car last so long! We're looking forward to be shopping here for the next, our fifth Volvo!

One of the absolute worst customer service experiences (with service manager Devon) I’ve ever had at any dealership…perhaps any business PERIOD!!! They booked a vehicle service appointment, held the vehicle the entire day, and waited until just before closing to make the phone call to say “ Sorry, we’re not going to be able to get to your vehicle today.” Giving them the benefit of the doubt, made another appointment with the promise of getting a loaner vehicle… The day before the appointment received a call saying that no loaner vehicle would be available. STRIKE 2 When asked if they could provide valet service to pick up the car for service due to the rescheduling and promised service vehicle no longer being available, The service manager (while on speakerphone in one of the owners offices) promised to look into it and would call me back. The next day, after receiving no phone call, I left a lengthy message on both the service managers phone and the owners phone and eventually did receive a call and shockingly no extra service would be provided. If you have any… And I mean absolutely any opportunity to purchase a vehicle or service your vehicle in any location other than this one, I would highly suggest that you take it.

One of the best car dealerships I’ve ever came across. Got a 2020 Certified Pre- Owned Volvo S60 with very less kms and great warranty. I saw the car online and booked a test drive for the same day. John made sure it was ready by the time I reached. Loved the car, discussed about the final numbers and booked the car. It was ready for pickup the next week with all the paperwork done online. After coming home I noticed few minor issues so I called the dealership and briefed them about the findings. Ed assured me that they are going to take care of it. After 3 weeks they took my car in and gave me a loaner to use. As promised Robert made sure everything was done perfectly. I was charged nothing. That actually surprised me. It was an hour drive from my place and had to call couple of times for an update, but considering how busy they are I totally get it. John, Robert and Ed are amazing. They go above and beyond to make sure the customer has a great experience of buying a car. A great family owned business.!!!

I purchased a vehicle from Van Herpt Motors in Dec 2021. Due to COVID restrictions, the entire purchase was handled online yet the service level was outstanding. I called to ask about a specific vehicle and Al was professional, responsive and honest. I felt no pressure to buy which was refreshing (in my experience with other dealerships they would tell me there were 3 or 4 other people interested in the same car I was interested in and I should make my decision right away. None of that nonsense here). Al was transparent and detailed about the purchase process and documents that needed to be shared and signed. Everything was signed and registered quickly. When I picked up the vehicle, Al spent more than an hour showing me the features and getting it set up specifically for me. I have owned three Volvo high performance vehicles (2 x V70R and my present V60 Polestar) and I have been having my vehicle(s) service at Van Herpt Motors for close to 20 years. Over that period I have found the staff friendly, helpful and extremely professional and the quality of their work superb. While it is true that a good garage and an experienced mechanic can handle the routine servicing i always take the more detailed and complex work (electronics and drive train) to Van Herpt knowing the problem will be correctly identified and the repair will be done right.

First time dealing with Van Herpt Motors. Took a used XC60 in for service. Emmision problem was diagnosed guickly and repairs completed in timely fashion. Another issue was found with suspension when on hoist and also addressed. Staff were all very courteous and friendly. We discussed upcoming service work that would be required later due to mileage. The facts and options were laid out clearly. At no time did I feel that I was being upsold or offered unnecessary extras. Will definitely return to and recommend Van Herpt Motors

The Service Department did an excellent job in identifying and fixing our problem. As it turns out, the part that failed was not in stock anywhere in North America so the Service Manager, Robert, arranged to have the part couriered to him from Sweden.
