Open Mic Poetry Reading Mondays at 10:00PM - Sign up at 9:30PM I have to be upfront and let you know right off the bat, this was not only my very first visit to Weeds, but also my very first Open Mic night in Chicago. With that established you are aware that I have no frame of reference of what makes a good Open Mic night or what a good service or even a good crowd is for this place. What i can say is that everyone from the Bartender to the MC, to all the clientele were all warm, welcoming and friendly. I probably would have hung out longer and schmoozed had a killer migraine not been kicking the back of my eyeballs out of their sockets. I will definitely try to get back there this coming Monday to participate in the fun again and give a glass of their red wine a try. The poetry Open Mic was an interesting cacophony of talent, expression, cleverness, and performance swirled up in a din of bawdy introductions, spiced with profanity, blended with fresh innovation, garnished with just enough mediocre poets to make the good ones stand out, and all served steaming to your ears at a volume level only people in southern Uruguay could not hear. It would have been delightful (and from what I could see everyone who wasn't having a cranial vascular event was thoroughly having a great time) but my headache just was not going to take it. The patrons were all from what I could see, sincere fans and very supportive, attentive and responsive to everyone who read and that makes this place a new regular hang-out for this poet and receives my official (4) out of (4) Raven feather rating. Its obviously adult-themed so not probably a place to bring dear Auntie Clarisse who gasps when someone says "Shucks" but definitely a warm and fun place to go if you are looking for something a little different and dont mind the fuc*king profanity.
So I’m pretty disappointed with this place. At first I liked going here cause the bartenders are nice but the owner really irritated me. We tried to bring our dog into the bar since the owner had his dog in there and we were told NO. We asked if we could instead go to the outside patio with our dog and again he said NO. The owner at this place is a true D-bag. Won’t step foot in this place again unless they allow the dog at least on the patio. I mean come on. If Earls, a classy restaurant/bar allows dogs then why can’t dumpy weeds allow them. Earls continues to get my business since they know how to take care of the customer. Keep up the great job weeds!!
Weeds Tavern is literally the best. They have awesome drink prices the vibe is chill and fun and they have such a friendly staff. I lost my AirPods there on a Friday night and when I called they were so sweet had found them and put them aside for me. I truly felt taken care of. Most bars would have just chalked it up as someone losing things in a bar on a Friday oh well. But they were incredibly nice and I appreciated it. I will be back again very soon.
Buyer beware..They have a male bartender here who way over charges for drinks. A shot of tequila over rocks..$14? For a hole in the wall..Bottom shelf tequila. They charged for double shot and we never asked for a double? Let me add that regulars get cheaper drinks and way better service. It also felt like we were profiled! Just bad service! We won't be back.
The outdoor area is one of the best kept secrets in Chicago. It is an oasis from the hustle and bustle that feels like you are relaxing in you backyard if you had a nice backyard. And just like Cheers, the service staff make you feel like they know you. If you are looking for a summer spot to hang with some friends for a night, look no further than Weeds.
Place is great for some Karaoke on Thursday nights!! Monday $3 Tecate Tuesday $2.50 Miller High life bottle and malort shots Wednesday #3 Old style tall boys and well mix drinks Thursday All revolution drafts $4 Friday $4 shots of Fireball and shot of the month Saturday All craft beer on tap $5 Sunday $5 Make your own bloodu and mimosas
I like this bar a lot. Very cool spot, low key and friendly bar tenders and patrons. Has a good selection of beer- not a lot but quality choices. Also has a brilliant outdoor patio garden that is choice for nice days and evenings. Good place to watch sports and have a beer. And the pool table is $1 a game.
Friendly bartenders, good local beers on tap. 1 pool table, good music, great atmosphere. Everyone I bring here loves this place to talk over drinks. Almost always a seat available somewhere so you never have to fight for one, but never empty. Warning. They serve no food, so come fed.
Found this place while randomly walking around Chicago. Great choice of beer to hangout if you want to just chill, or take a break from walking. Lucky we found this place. Do wish they had food or snacks, don't remember if they had any, which is why it's a 4 out of 5 stars.
Weeds has a great beer garden. I absolutely love the fact that you can bring your dog!! That alone gives any place 5 stars in my book. If you call ahead and bring a large group they will grill out for you too (at least Fridays they did). Where else will you find that?
Friendly neighborhood bar. Went with a date, played Jenga on the patio while we drank. Definitely going on the weekends as one of the tamales guys makes a stop twice here Friday and Saturdays. Nice selection of beers on tap and a whiskey selection that has variety.
The decor is marvelous, the food is excellent, the entertainment is sublime. The ambience is the key here. There's nothing like it. It's sexy and anything can happen and has happened. Sergio is the owner and chef. This place should not be missed by out of towners.
Quaint dive with a surprisingly spacious and gorgeous patio. My friends stop by when the weather is nice to play cornhole and giant Jenga, while listening to our own music via TouchTunes. Don’t sleep in the quesadillas if you’re in need of a quick bite to eat.
Cool spot in the cut. Very low key with a nice neighborhood feel. Really cool art and games outside to play! Nice choices of beverages as well. We were having too much to fun to take photos. Dig the vibe and patriotism. Peace Love and no war!❤ …
A cute hole in the wall bar. I'm talking about Jenga in the backyard, jukebox, and one pool table. Best thing about this bar, you can order food to be delivered. If you don't have a backyard hang out spot with friends..check this place out!
Been coming here for many years. The owner has become a great friend of mine. Always greets you and makes you feel very welcome! Awesome atmosphere. The beer garden in the summer is spectacular! Music, bean bags and fire pits included!
Service was ok until the owner came out and was absolutely terrible to the patrons. Rude to the staff too. And also a fly in my drink, third time giving it a chance but honestly the place is just bad energy
Nice, low-key spot with TouchTunes, a large patio, and decent prices. If the bartender, Alex, is there, order a vodka gimlet. If you don't know what it is, DO IT ANYWAY. It's the best in town!
The bartender likes to over serve the regulars who in turn chase customers out of the bar. Just save yourself a step and not go at all. I'm never coming back here with my friends ever.
Love the outdoor space with music. The owner and staff were kind and welcoming. The lighting in the evening was nice, which is a great place to hangout during the pandemic!
Great place to go, owner is top notch and bar tenders are awesome. Any time I am near this place will definitely stop in. Great atmosphere, great patio and great drinks.
Chill atmosphere, nice bartender, relaxing outdoor patio area with good music. Some folks were shooting off fireworks on the street out front and it was a good time.
i've had nothing but pleasant experiences here and plan to keep coming back. the place has an awesome feel to it. i can see why they have a lot of great reviews.
Friendly dive bar in lincoln park. Always chill and always a good bartender. I haven't tried the tacos from the action station outside but it smells good.
Great local place. Not a dive but very casual. There are awesome signature drinks that are seasonal. Beer list is very respectable. We love going there.
Didn’t ID anyone, including a group of kids that looked super young. Drinks tasted off and the manager guy was giving really sketch energy.
My favorite bar in the city. Bartenders are cool. Patrons are not stuck up. Owner is this short Mexican dude that is always up for a shot.
The people and staff are always friendly and food is good but drinks are will served great place to just hang out and bring your pet to !
It's a great neighborhood sports bar to get together with family, friends, make new friends to have a drink and listen to live music.
really nice place to visit. live their drink. took me little wait tho . other than that must visit for sure if you around this area
Weeds is one of those local bars where everyone knows the regulars and the yum yum is always on tap! Joe is my favorite bartender.
Great prices. Great service. The drinks were a little on the weak side (cran and vodka) bit my IPA was great. Id still go back.
Cool spot, staff and management were friendly and the entertainment was awesome, looking forward to another bike night here.
Nice and friendly place, guess the night we went alot of people and only 2 severs which we had to wait a awhile for a drink.

My favorite bar in Chicago. Such a cool vibe with board games, fire pits, a jukebox, pool tables, and a great staff.

great chill bar! they have really cool slam poetry on mondays! great place to grab a beer after a long day of work!
Just your friendly neighborhood bar. No-frills. Just nice people, good beer, and a nice patio to enjoy a day.
Hate the owner (guy with the obnoxiously loud bike) and this place is just overrated. Kind of a biker bar
Great bar. Mostly locals. Not a dive, but has the authentic "neighborhood" feel lots of people look for
Great Owner! Walk into this place and it reminds me.of Cheers where everybody knows your name …
Gavin is literally the coolest bartender you'll ever meet. Challenge him to a game of pool. I dare you.
No frills. Simple place with decent drinks and a good beer selection. Skee ball is a nice plus though!
Love the patio and hanging out when the weather is warm. Drinks are good and bartenders are cool.
10/10 bartenders. Great drink prices. Inside and outside seating options. And touch tunes!
Great low key bar. Good drink prices, great patio with outdoor games and awesome music.

My DePaul bar! Rooftop is great during the summer. $5 pizzas are a win every time
Nice bar, decent selection. There was a guy on the patio making delicious tacos.
