A lovely place to picnic, walk by the river (Part of the Great River Walk) or fish. A camillia garden and 2 padogas serve to recognise the Sistership of Penrith to a city in Japan (name escapes me. They are aptly used as venues for all fresco civil weddings. There are clean public toilets and plenty of parking. The Penrith Rowing Club is in the same area (it has a very nice restaurant ) as to are the women's athelic excellence facility and Olympic rowing training facilities.

Nice place, nostalgic for me,use to be able to drive right down to the weir, now you park up top and walk down.plenty of shady tables in park up top, you can walk the river walk, fish but even though the signs say no swimming, walk across the weir on the left in the shallow water, turn right follow the river down and there are some nice secluded spots to picnic and swim.Only for the adventurous.

Was a wonderful day for a beautiful wedding :) however it would be nice if the council would put up signs when people hire a spot out to let the general public not to set up a picnic in the area that is hired out. Considering you have to pay the council to use the spot as "private" for a number of hours.
Restrooms
They were very clean

It was a great place to have my year 10 formal, beautiful for the photos, you could have the water or trees or the gazebo, it is truly a beautiful place.
Dog-friendliness
Plenty of space for dogs to run around.
Picnic area
Plenty of space for picnicking, including many spots under trees.

Plenty parking, gazebo nearby and a lot of shady trees, public toilet and riverside walk. Some people even cool themselves into the river (downside of the weir of course,as is prohibited on the upstream nearby the weir) Not far from Penrith city centre so you can stock up your picnic needs.

  • MC Alex

Just next to the river.. Decent size public park with common facilities. Not that busy. There are few walking tracks along the river.. At the the time of review, some construction going on foot paths and condition is not good. So probably things will get better when construction completes

  • Lillian Hine

Has a rotundra where us bird enthusiasts sat and ate our morning tea after looking at birds at the Weir. It has a lovely rose garden surrounding it. Plenty of seating. I believe Japanese tourists who have married have their wedding photos there. Lovely, simple ambience. Lillian

In comparison to other parks, this park is quite run down. It needs an overhaul especially the tables. Old, broken and in sore need of repair. Don't put bbqs in though as this park needs to be just a place to take your lunch, a friend or two and a hot flask of tea. Keep it simple.

Absolutely beautiful spot along the Nepean River, away from the crowds. There are plenty of places to sit yourself down for a picnic. The toilets are well kept also. The river is beautiful as it rages over the weir. Lots of birdlife like kookaburras coming over for a feed.

  • Shay Shahid

This area is a hidden gem, there is a beautiful sitting place overlooking the river and small garden well maintained, it's slightly unsafe as it's down the hill with no safety gates for small kids but overall this spot for quite relaxing afternoon is worth a visit

  • Patrick G

Lovely place to picnic! Lots of tables and chairs, plenty of open grass to picnic on, a podium to get married in, lovely gardens plus you can go for a bike ride or romantic walk along the Nepean River or check out the Weir and the Rowing Club ( when it opens!)

  • Leslie Tully

Great for a look see, you can fish for freshwater fish, swim if hot or cold, there are tables to use and some toilets if your keen, not to bad but need a bit of a clean now and than, they are cleaned daily but are a bit grubby sometimes.

  • Simon Flack

Been walking the dog here for years now, beautiful spot most of the time, must be something really great hidden in the bushes directly opposite the wier though judging by the amount of guys who discreetly head into there together …

  • Gurpreet Jaura

Very calm and relaxing place. Penrith council are very good in keeping the park clean. The amenities are well kept. Great place for a picnic with kids and family. Dog friendly but with leash on. Claiming sound of the river..

  • Peter Crispin

Nice quiet area to go for a walk along the river. Although it appears to have been cleaned up, there are still some 'untoward' people who may be hanging around. Best not to hang around the toilets, car parks, or of a night.

  • Emily jane

Its right on the nepean river, rowing club here so food & drinks avail, lots of table & chairs & plenty of open space, footy posts, toilets, heaps of parking, grat atmosphere, no kids park, dog friendly on leash

  • Brian Hedderman

Nice area by the Nepean river, with gazebos that can be hired from Penrith council for outdoor weddings and such, picnic areas, free parking and access to both the river walking path and the Rowers club …

  • jim nicholas (Jimbo)

Top spot to take the family. Easy access to the river bank for fishing, but not swimming. Nice parklands and is part of the great river walk. You can also hear many native birds and the surrounding bush.

  • Ali Akbari

A bit featureless but nice and clean. Good for a picnic or a short walk along the river. Unfortunately floods have damaged the river side to some extent. There is parking, restrooms, and picnic tables.

  • Mathew Blinman

Awesome place to go for a family picnic... just make sure you bring entertainment for the kids cause there isn’t a play area... there is enough room for a game of cricket so there’s a start

  • Andrew C Witham

A quiet tranquil stretch of the river. A couple of pelicans seem to enjoy a peaceful life here. The weir itself has been recently upgraded to facilitate the migration of fish upstream.

  • Delinda C-P

Japanese garden awesome, even in winter, beautiful gazebo and lawn for wedding photos with blue mountains and nepean river in background. Weir and river beautiful especially at sunset

  • Haroon Shabbir

Great location for bike rides (bridge to bridge loop of ~6.3 km), stroll, run and walk. Minutes drive away from Penrith's CBD. Lots of bird photography opportunities can be availed.

  • Lauren Penn

Very nice spot. There are homeless people that sleep right across from the rowing club just keep an eye out when your there with little ones especially if that’s important to you

  • Paul Camilleri

A picturesque place to visit, well maintained with all the amenities you require. Plenty of natural shade but only a few picnic tables, so get in early or bring an alternative.

  • Adam SYD900

Not safe park snake and lots of junkes , and need lots of work i dont know what Penrith council doing !! They just collecting money without any progress !!

  • Chris Lewis

Lovely stroll along the river tho a little spoiler by the invasive weeds like Lantana and very poisonous Castor Oil plants that seem to be uncontrolled.

  • Gareth Hadfield

Pleasant reserve with shady trees and about four picnic tables and other chairs. Nice view of the river. Toilet facilities. Reserve closes at sunset.

  • David Robert Tye

Great walks, shame about the broken glass from beer bottles. We collected a bag full. No bins to be seen dropped them into a bin at the rowing club.

  • Rod Tooley

Nice enough I guess. A lot of litter scattered around which made it a shame. A proper litter patrol of the reserve would improve the experience.

  • Little Miss Apropos

Lovely, quiet park to take a walk, the little Japanese garden area is very nicely done, reasonably clean toilets, easy parking, flat walking.

  • Luici Tozanis

Nice spot but the council just need to make a better effort on these places, they extort enough money from us to be able to spend some here.

  • Cassandra Schutz

Absolutely beautiful place for a walk or a picnic lunch. Most of the walk is blocked off due to recent floods. Still a nice place to visit!

  • Duncan Swanborough

Nice area for picnics and dog walking. Also has a pretty Japanese garden. Good views of the Nepean river weir, along the great river walk.

  • Peter Denford

This was the best place locally for our large social group of christian brothers and sisters to enjoy a great winter sun picnic day out .

  • Vanessa Stacey

Beautiful spot. A local favorite. Really needs cleanup of the weeds and bamboo overtaking the run off creeks into the Nepean river.

  • Falekava Mahe

Really nice river and a walk with the family. Needs more playground equipment or something to interact with the people that visit.

  • G & V Hutchinson

Nice day, but the flies were starting to become a nuisance. Friendly kookaburras came to visit our picnic. Good place for a walk.

  • Tony B

The reserve park is good, but the boardwalk/bridges and paths near the weir has been substantially damaged by the recent floods.

  • Norm Heffernan

Nice open place in Penrith for a picnic. Limited facilities but very popular on weekends for family and friends to gather.

  • Rae W

Beautiful place, well preserved. Facilities and fencing could use an update but otherwise does not hinder the enjoyment

  • Ben Rabie

A lovely place beside the river. The views are amazing and its a wonderful place to have a picnic or even get married.

  • Jade Lee

Great picnic spot. Tables, toilet. Nice walk to Weir or head south to walk over new pedestrian bridge to Emu Plains.

  • N S D

my friend dropped his mazda car keys and we looked for them for 4 hours. I enjoyed the day though, I like walking.

  • Aussie Exile

Great view of the Nepean remote so don't come to late in the afternoon but plenty of great picnic spots there.

  • Peter Johnston

A pretty little park close to Penrith town centre that is a great place to have lunch or take a short break.

  • Georg Verweyen

Nice calm picnic site with lots of lawn and relatively clean toilets, no BBQ or anything fancy though.

  • Fred howell

Nice and quite good for picnics etc but don't let children go down to the river without supervision

  • Matthew Ryan

One of the best rowing clubs in the country set on one of the best rivers to row on - Nepean River.

  • Brandon Jenner

its good for a family outing, just the grass needs to be cut more often, as it can get quite long.

  • Thomas Cobden

Great park with amenities. Beautiful view of the Nepean river. Lots of covered areas for picnics.

  • Christian Cuello

A nice, quiet place to gather your thoughts. I just wish people would clean up after themselves.

  • Blake Stephens

Really nice spot, the river is awesome and there's plenty of private spots for the introverts

  • Pete Murphy

What can I say? It's a weir. Water is aesthetic, something to look at on a nice walk. …

  • Luke Reader

Good fun spot to catch carp bass and other fresh water fish ...or cool down with a swim..

  • Farrukh Khan

Nice relaxing place with awesome views. You can also do fishing and have small picnics.

Some graffiti, broken glass and weeds. Nice piece of natural environment in the suburbs
