I was a regular visitor to this shop for several weeks until I was attacked by one of the staff members a short time ago. There is one truly lovely, kind person that works there however there is a cantankerous horror who provides some of the worst customer service imaginable. Whenever I've been served by her I always get talked down to and treated like I am somehow ruining her day by asking to buy a cake. I kept going back however as the other staff member was terrific. Not any more. Earlier today I was waiting patiently for the really nice staffer to serve some other people. I had tied my little dog to the door as I have done every other time I had been there. The awful lady then came in (she had presumably been on lunch) and YELLED at me in front of the other staff and customers that my dog was not allowed in (even though she was at the door, not inside the shop). I hightailed it out of there immediately and will never return. This is no way to talk to a customer and I want everyone else know too so they avoid going to this shop until that lady is disciplined. One bad customer service encounter is bad enough but multiples and now being yelled at? No thanks. Never ever again.

As I live locally and been here a few time before, I have never been attacked like this. I waited a few minutes to be served and could tell the blonde lady was hesitant to serve anyone (not feeling up to it I guess). I asked for two pastry's. I pointed to my phone to apologising for talking on my phone, she tossed the pastries in a bag towards me and starred. I thought it was quite weird and gave her a bill and then she tossed my change at me and shouted for me to get off the phone! as she stormed off. Plus she ruined the pastries when we tossed them, I've been told by others of this workers attitude, not a pleasant experience.

Terrible customer service. The woman who ordinarily serves me has been lovely. Today a man took my order and, after waiting a long time for coffee, wrongly charged $25 for 3 coffee's. Upon realising, I lined up again to clarify the misunderstanding. The man was extremely rude and belittled me in front of other customers lining up. He refused to rectify this error. I left the store very upset. The coffee's were lukewarm, weak and he mixed up the orders. I will not be returning. Do not order coffee from this shop. Unacceptable.

Gotta be one of the most scrumptious sweet treat places I've ever been to. To thoroughly enjoy the foods sold here, is an understatement! Ordered a tiramisu flavoured ice cream which was divine, a swirly Wellington choc base coated cake with rich oozey thick good quality and a blueberry bagel which I look forward to eating tomorrow. Found this place while walking down and back from Bondi Beach. I was hungry and I couldn't go past trying this food from the Brull family So glad I did.

Best pastries and bagels ever! You can’t find any better pastries or bagels in town. It’s a MUST when in Bondi. My favorite is the Kuglouf chocolate cake and the jalapeños & cheese bagels on the weekends. Oh and the cheese triangles! YUMMY! The Wellington Cake Shop is a family run business and everyone is so passionate about their job. You can taste the difference! I can definitely recommend coming here for anything sweet, savory or just a great coffee!

Nice food but disgusting customer service. They don't deserve to be in business the way they treat customers, which seems like a common theme they're ignoring from reading other reviews. They also quoted very different prices over the phone between phone calls and when asked about the difference, responded twice with "this is the price. I'm busy, do you want it or not?"

Great bagels, dissillutionary service in regards to ordering and receiving a good coffee. I ordered a long black with a dash of milk and received a soapy flaccid thimble full of coffee and when I asked for another shot was asked to pay another dollar. $4.50 later and service with a snarl I received the last coffee I will drink from them. DON'T buy coffee there.

Being a Hungarian myself, it is the only place in Sydney that you can get Hungarian cakes just like your grandma would make. I am a loyal customer and would recommend anything on the menu, poppyseed, cherry, famous Wellington, walnut. Everything!!! Oh and the chili chocolate icecream... Say hi to max working there too. :) Great people.

Saw all the positive reviews about this place and decided to finally pay a visit. Friendly service and a great selection of Hungarian specialty cakes and breads. Got myself a slice of Flódni and Rigo Jancsi. Volt nagyon finom! Authentic and simply delicious. Will be back to try their ice cream, Dobos torta and Rétes (Strudel)!

Alas we arrived too late for me to enjoy their Kuglóf so I enjoyed a delicious Famous Wellington (hazelnut shortbread with chocolate ganache topped with walnut macaroon). Lady at the counter looked tired but was friendly and helpfully offered to keep aside a Kuglóf for me if I called at 7am and arrived later in the day

A little slice of Austria-Hungary in Bondi This is a terrific family-run bakery specialising in Austro-Hungarian baked goods. Everything we tried was wonderful and had a homemade feel and quality to it. The strudel with a light crisp pastry and bursting with cherries was one of the best strudels we've ever eaten!

  • Liraz Tassie

Worst customer service ever! I used to go there a lot because they have nice cakes but when I called in today to order a cake over the phone the man who took my call was very rude, unhelpful and dismissive. Shame because you just lost a customer and I will make sure to tell all my friends to stay away as well.

Anyone who's Polish like myself will certainly appreciate this bakery for the flavours reminiscent of the bakeries back home! It's an old style, family-run bakery with a good range in differing baked goods. The poppy seed roll is generous in the filling and perfectly balanced in sweetness.

So I’ve started out with the cherry crumble. And a KRÉMES!!!! That’s “continental vanilla slice” to you Anglos out there. Or “napoleonke” if you’re Polish. Or “krempita” if you’re from the Balkans. Do your tastebuds and your local cardiologist a huge favour here ;)

Bagels from Wellington are a Saturday morning delight. The almond croissants are an occasional sensational treat.

Im so glad I found Wellington Cake Shop today. After years and years of trying different places for a good Cheese and Cherry Strudel I hit the jackpot What a delicious strudel. The best in Australia. I will go back again and again

  • M

Very disappointed! We ended up here as Sweet Kiss in Clovelly closed early today...the slices of Dobos cake were super stale with an unpleasant tainted flavour. You can’t sell old cakes like this! Yuck one bite and in the bin

  • Annabelle Peacock

Delicious food and we go there at least twice a week but the grumpy woman who works there with the ill disguised anger problems is enough to turn me off. So rude again today, I would not be employing her if I owned the shop.

  • Mindi Burji

My local. Been going for years and never disappointed. They do get busy time to time and can get absolutely hammered with orders, a testament to their amazing cakes and bagels. Always worth the wait in my book …

  • wH0 kN0wZ? aB0uT mE!! (Wh0 kN0w3?)

Best ice-cream shop in Sydney. No, THE WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD. Seriously, I can taste the goodness in the ice cream and the cakes and the bagels are HEAVEN but they need to BRING BACK THE MUD SLICE!!! Kinda unreliable tbh

  • Michael W

Brought these cakes for my Hungarian mother and German father to try and they loved them. Brought the Poppy seed roll , Poppy seed Danish, rum ball and Pyramid. Brought the Pyramid for my family and it was delicious.

  • Patrick El

Made an effort to drive here and try the cakes and pastries. Was pretty satisfied with what we purchased. The service was good too, though reviews here look pretty scary, we didn't experience anything crazy.

  • Stephen Woo

Very nice apple strudel, almond croissant is another of my favourite! The staff is amazing, and don't tell the staff I tell you this, they may give away freebie if you buy stuff towards the end of the day:)

  • Nick Mate

Great selection of cakes and bagels. Definitely one of the best European cake stores around. Pity the service is a bit harsh (for want of a better word), we may have just picked a bad time, who knows.

  • M Garcia

I live in Brisbane and everytime I go to Sydney, I specifically make a trip out to Wellington Cake shop. It is so good! You can't beat the homemade quality and depth of flavour. Also love the bagels

  • Andrew Bain-Lindsay

chocolate croissant to kill for and every other pastry they do is just as delicious never had a bad bit of grub. My recommendation is the Bon vivant! You want pastry? This is the place to go!

  • Nev Kurlansky

Worst customer service in Sydney. Bought pretzels that tasted a day old. Called to give feedback and was told off by the grumpy offensive baker/shopkeeper. Stay away. Rude!!!

  • Tamas Ridly

I dare to say this is the best place for really tasty, quality cakes and patisserie in Sydney. I am biased being a Hungarian though. The Rigo Jancsi is one of my favourite.

  • Katja Becher

Lovely local bakery. Got a hot cross bun and the poppyseed roll. Both were delicious and pretty cheap compared to other bakeries. The owner was very sweet and welcoming.

  • Nora Szopory

As good as home made. That's where you can get a lot of hungarian style goodies, the list is too long . I highly recommend to order a DOBOS for your next celebration!

  • Chris Duvall

Cakes are good...not great. Waited outside shop in a line for 20 minutes (Covid distancing in shop), while staff chatted with customers AFTER selling. Lousy service.

  • Peter L

We have been customers for more than 40 years All the cakes are delicious but our favourites are cherry strudel, chestnut torte, hazelnut torte and the cheese stick.

  • Alejandro

I have been enjoying the best Poppy Seed Danish possibly in the world for 30+ years. Even after moving from Bondi we still make the effort to drive across Sydney.

  • Sam Peter

If you want some of the best European \ Hungarian cakes there is no place better in Sydney. Couldn't recommend it enough for any fans of delicious baking

  • Bogdan Hodorog

Whenever you're in mood for an "Inglorious Bastards"-style apple strudel this is the place to go. Amazing selection of cakes, pastries and shortbread

  • Selen Guner

The best cakes, pastries I have had in Sydney. Pogacsa is reminding me home and much yummier than the Turkish version. Coffee is great too …

  • Anna Belyuga

So delicious and have been our favourite for decades. Always going back to get their bagels, Kugelhof and also love their almond croissants.

  • Heather Gluckman

We bought bagels (best in town), poppy seed buns and cinnamon buns. Everything was fresh & super delicious. Definitely be back for more .

  • Jose M. Quiñones

Very good quality on patisseries and cakes, usually they have free samples. The coffee always made with love, great variety on food..

  • Francesca

My absolute favourite cake shop in Sydney! My personal favourties are the bagels, donuts, and chocolate icecream (always amazing)!

  • samson JACKS

Beautiful cakes, cherry strudel crunchy and delicious. The service was efficient yet courteous. My family loved eating the cakes!

  • Tasha D

Delicious selection of cookies and pastries. Good ice cream too. Really friendly staff. Highly recommend the flodni.

This is by far the best cake shop in the area. Everything there is so yummy and authentic. Also have great bagels!!!

  • Paul RETI

Excellent Hungarian (Middle European) style cakes and bread. A rare consistent gem for gourmets and gourmands.
