BEWARE!! I had thousands of dollars worth of personal items damaged by storing my things in this storage facility. If you care about your things at all, DO NOT store them at West Coast Self-Storage. Full story: I had stored all my household items and furniture at West Coast Self-Storage for 2 years. I was sold by their statement of values, quick response, and what appeared to be clean premises and security measures. At least 4 months ago the floor with my unit started to reek of cigarette smoke (another review mentions the smell also). I reported the issue but the issue continued to persist. All of my upholstered items and fabric absorbed the odor and continue to smell like an ash tray after moving out of the unit recently. I immediately had to replace two mattresses and have been trying to remove the odor and salvage the couches and chairs with mixed success ever since moving out (chemical sprays, baking soda, airing out items in sunlight for days, repeated washes). I made an insurance claim and although the claim concluded that property has a cigarette smoke odor, this type of loss is not covered by insurance. West Coast Self-Storage decided they would not be able to do more than refund me a single month's rent. Their reason seemed to be that they couldn't say for sure where the odor came from or prove that I hadn't caused the damage myself (I am not a smoker). The entire floor still reeks though. I do want to note that their new location manager, Amber, is great to work with and is honest. But at the end of the day, upper management could not stand behind their stated values, I paid thousands of dollars in rent and then lost so much and the company would not take responsibility. West Coast Self-Storage claims that they are a different type of storage company because they care about their customers and that their facility is one that you can trust. BUT DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR THINGS. Hopefully this review saves someone else from the huge cost and heartbreaking experience of losing so many of your personal items. Just go with another storage facility.

Great People . . . Great Place!! The staff & facility deserve a 6 star rating!!! Very Very nice facility, of course it's brand spanking new, but I have a feeling it will stay that way for a long time as the staff really care about keeping it clean. There is a lot of natural light through the large windows, which makes it feel less like a musty basement, warehouse or dungeon like some storage facilities do. They have a restroom!! Yay !!!! The carts are new too, of course, and very easy to maneuver -not so dang wide you hit the wall on every turn. The location is easy to access, I love that cuz I usually am taking tri met there and there are 3 buses, plus the yellow line that goes right by it. Manager Sam and his assistant who is there when he isn't are wonderful ... very accommodating & helpful ... they are always smiling and make it just a little more pleasant when you have to go in to your storage, which is something we pretty much all dread ... Right!? As I said, they and the facility deserve 6 stars (if that was a choice) and I struggled with my decision, cuz the reason I finally decided on 4 isn't really their fault. It's whatever it was that the company used who cleaned their floors (I think that's what they were cleaning) a couple weeks ago. Absolutely horrible. . . It was overwhelmingly strong ... Made me feel awful ... headache ... nauseous stomach ... eyes burning ... I wondered if it could possibly be dangerous. I really hope that the corporate office reads this review and looks into that, requests that company not to use that cleaning agent or changes their company, because I dont ever want to be closed up in an elevator with that noxious smell again. . . and it wasn't much better outside the elevator in the open, high ceilinged hallways either. And I'd be happy to upgrade my star rating for them to 5 if I discover that they have made sure those chemicals will not be used inside their facility again.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! I've never dealt with a more shady landlord, ever. These people have increased rent significantly, going from $99 to almost $190 in just a couple of years. We have been stellar tenants. We received a letter from the landlord who stated that the price hikes are not because of our tenancy; they need the money for improvements. However, in the last couple of years, despite a 50% increase and now a 100% increase in rent, there have been no noticeable improvements. In fact it's been the reverse. Homeless encampments surround the place, and inside the facility it is degrading daily. We have noticed that the facility is less clean, things are more rundown, the staff is less accessible, and hours to use the facility are significantly fewer. So what's up with the increase? Why are we paying for it? GREED. The owner is clearly exploiting the vulnerability of tenants and societal impacts such as the pandemic and recession and using it to their benefit. They are increasing rents when people are suffering financially leaving people with little to no options since it takes a lot of money to find and move your things to another place. What's happening here is criminal, and I hope the owner eventually receives treatment as such.

I secured a 10x20 unit this past Saturday (5/13/2023) at the Happy Valley, Oregon West Coast Self-Storage. Such a pleasant and easy experience! I first called the facility which Aleta T. (site manager) answered the phone immediately. She answered all my questions thoroughly and patiently. I showed up an hour later to take a look at three different units because I wasn't sure of the size I wanted. No problem for Aleta! She was very welcoming and accommodating. Even while interacting with my 3 year old daughter she was great! The facility is less than 18months old, so it was very clean and new. It felt very safe. When I moved my belongings in the next day (Sunday), the other employee was there. He too was very friendly and helpful. I had a box needing to be recycled, and he kindly said he would take care of it. Thanks for going above and beyond!!! Great management, facility, and location. No complaints! Update: just realized this post went to the McLoughlin West Coast Storage... I can't seem to update it, but it was the Happy Valley one.

Update to be fair: Amber did reach out to me offering remedial discounts but since we all cannot be on the same page I'm still moving elsewhere. What I like here is the automated after-hours access and well-built secure doors & units. Basement units are especially good because they don't heat up in the summertime and the air is mostly dead so none of that smoke smell. What didn't work out is the promotional pricing. Amber assured me twice that it is valid for 2 full months after the pro-rated month in which I rent the unit. Turns out not so, only the move-in calendar month and one additional full month. Of course there's no written contract about it that they provide, only verbal, and an emailed receipt for payment. Unfortunately I had to pay on Amber's days off and the guy working in the office said my promotion expired, pay $82.10. That's for a 5x5 unit BTW. Regardless of pricing now I'm moving to a different facility because I really don't go for bait-and-switch. Buyer beware: get a printed contract of discounts if at all possible.

First of all this place is full of bums. We literally think someone was living across our unit and smoking inside it reeked so bad. Second trying to cancel our unit and the guy was never there inside, Ive come multiple times even saw potential customers leave because the door was closed while office should still be open for two hours. I have it on video. Then there’s the issue of charging you full months rent if you don’t tell them 30days ahead of time, like I said I’ve been trying to get a hold of them in person and then finally wrote a letter and nobody responded. The worst part is we have to leave due to having to find different living situations and we had no idea this would happen and we have to take our stuff. But they still charge for insurance even if I turn in my unit and take my stuff out. They’ll charge me for a month for empty storage and insurance, what do I need to insure if it’s completely empty?!!! I have a family to feed and it’s the pandemic. Don’t rent here dark and scary after hours and staff is never there.

Almost "Contact-Free Rentals" Signing Up online was easy and quick at GREAT Prices. BUT i ran into an issue today upon arrival and because it was just after 6pm office was closed, my code didn't work yet finding out contact had to be made in-order to activate my account because they needed to scan my ID and match me to it. I was very thankful that the manager decided to make a trip back onsite to verify my identity so he could activate my code and take the temp lock off my unit. I'm very happy with my storage, the facility seems clean inside the gate and the manager was helpful after office hours. I would recommend adding an ID scan portion when signing up so no one else runs into this problem that costed me 2.5 hours leaving me with not enough time to properly exit the facility. So Far i definitely would recommend this storage and look forward to my stay here.

Oh my goodness Amber was so amazing she is like the storage Goddess. She is extremely knowledgeable about the facility and she’s been very fair while being compassionately accommodating to the best of her ability while still maintaining integrity within the company during a rough time in my life (trying to manage a less than ideal situation with my ex Lawrence who is a part time bum, full time clown and vacating the unit I paid for of his pile of garbage below.) and what was I’m sure a complicated case for her as an employee. No matter what the problem was, she was able find solutions and I don’t think I’ll ever need to use another storage facility other than west coast. Thank you so much !

He is EXCELLENT AT HIS JOB ....If he is an example of the level of exceptional quality you expect in your employees then I say kudos to you and your company and I would be more than happy and will be more than happy to recommend your business to anyone and everyone that asks about a Excellent storage units.. .Also I don't know if your company does a employee incentive program or something to that effect or not but if u do I once again would like to put my vote in for Sam he is located unemployed at your new location in Sellwood Oregon off of 16th and Milwaukee Avenue

PLEASE STORE YOUR THINGS ANYWHERE ELSE. Employee quite literally lied to me on the phone about what my bill would be. This place has raised the price of my unit multiple times without notification to the point where I am now being charged nearly $200 a month for a 5x10. What an absolute joke, their competitors charge half of this ripoff of a price. I will be canceling my unit and suggest that you all do yourself a favor and stay far away from these scammers. This isn't even mentioning all the security issues and the constant decline of the quality of the facility in general. I could go on and on, the owners should be ashamed.

Preordered uhaul for early pick up, but their employee wasn’t on time. False advertising online for the cost of renting vehicle, they didn’t include fees or taxes associated with said rental. It is pretty sad that the online reservation doesn’t show these costs. How are customers able to make sound economical decisions if companies falsely advertise costs/display wrong information? I’m angry because prices are not fully disclosed at the point of initial rental. There are reasons and laws why gas stations have to disclose their prices per gallon

Amber is extremely supportive and compassionate in assisting my family with the unit. My older daughter referred me and has been with WestCoast for a couple years. Amber showed great patience with others and attended to those who were waiting with care. Cognitive empathy is a must when assisting the public, understanding and fulfilling those needs. I appreciate people like Amber and a business that has their clients best Interests in mind. She also has referred me for a position with the company, I am excited to support WestCoast.

I was paying for secure storage, and the fact that the gate was destroyed and not replaced was a problem for me. Also the times when it was available were terrible. Closing at 7pm is ridiculously early. More than one time it posed a problem for me. There are a lot of homeless individuals around the storage facility and it was very dirty. I never felt safe going alone, without my boyfriend. I would not recommend your facility to anyone else unless the problems were addressed. Other than that the facility is nice inside.

I just got moved into a unit here, it was one of the best deals for a large unit, good security (with being indoors and gated access) and great location for me. Josh helped me out by showing me the units available, explaining some different options to me, and even making sure that the move-in special applied to two full months, rather than the first partial month (which is what would happen by default if you signed up online). getting set up and moved in was super simple, and I'm glad to have gotten the guidance I did.

I’ve stored at the West Coast self storage in Lake Oswego and I believe the managers name was Adam. Adam was fantastic he was super nice so helpful. I’m now storing at the one on McLoughlin and Sam helped me out! What an awesome worker not only was he training somebody but he was also helping me out. Once again super nice, super helpful, so accommodating. Really great people. I feel safe with my stuff being stored there. Really great pricing. I would recommend this to everyone who is looking to store their stuff.

Surprisingly mild foot traffic! We monopolized 3 of the 8 parking spots, one hallway and two loading spots for a couple sun filled hours and remained unencumbered! Only downsides I can depict: they are located on a dead-end; not the easiest to locate your first time. Outside of the 8'ish tall spiked security fence is an abundant homeless camp. A majority of the homeless were creating semi-permanent dwellings for the same security reason that WC Storage utilizes from being at the dead-end; only one way in or out.

The management is friendly and quick to respond to calls and emails. The building is very clean and the storage units are roomy (very high ceilings!) and affordable. I would 100% recommended this place to anyone looking for a storage unit. I started renting in preparation for moving about 8 months ago, and I now firmly think that having a space away from my studio apartment to store my extra sewing supplies and Christmas decorations and clutter has made me both happier and more well-organized. Seriously.

When our needs grew to more than one unit, she helped us figure out the most cost effective additional unit. She is cheerful and a blessing in the midst of our currently chaotic lives. Truly some good individuals I was with another storage company that is very well known and have lost all my things at auction two times due to bad communication on they're part! The customer service team was friendly and knowledgeable. They answered all my questions and made everything really easy. I had to buy a lock, but it didn't cost much. Not sure if I was able to sell it back after, so I still have it. My unit was clean and waiting for me. And move out was just as easy. When I signed up they were running a deal, get the first month free! Pro tip: I managed to move my stuff back out before the new month and got to use the unit for free.

Although the management has made some questionable decisions about changing hours and raising our rates as of late, Amber as the property manager has only been a helpful and understanding advocate and support. The five stars is for her, not for the company or the facility. If she’s here then you might have the chance to actually feel cared about and helped out in an industry where a in my experience a number of people could care less about you as a person.

Excellent storage facility. New, very clean, secure, and the staff is very helpful! The small unit we rented was reasonably priced and actually had a higher ceiling than others (Public) we looked at. (We didn't go with Public because they try to rip you off with hidden fees and failure to honor their advertised price (bait and switch).) West Coast is completely up front about all costs associated with the rental and honor their advertised price.

Rented a Uhaul from the staff here. Check your final invoice because apparently they like to add charges and stuff that you did not rent such as a dolly and furniture pads. No mention was made and no confirmation provided until AFTER card was swiped and payment accepted. Still have yet to see overcharge reversed. I would never come back here again and much less rent a uhaul from here.

Very friendly, helpful, flexible, responsive customer service, and it's easy to reach them with questions. Do be sure to ask upfront which months the web or promotional pricing listed online will actually apply to. (This isn't necessarily clear on the website when reserving online, but they can tell you on the phone or by chat if you ask, and they are very fair about it.)

There are several loading spots, the facilities are clean and well-maintained, and the customer service is excellent. When I needed to downsize my unit, Sam came up with the best option and held the new unit for me to suit my schedule. This place is great ; new, clean, freight elevators, nice big roll carts you can use, some lockers open deep and others open wide, you can have dual locks, they have tall ceilings in the lockers and the price deals are the best I've had. It's ok but the holes in the fence to the building is unsettling.. They provide carts and elevators to help you move your stuff, they provide boxes, locks, bubble wrap, etc to purchase, and the attendant is super nice.

Nice facility... dont like that the locks are specific and have to be purchased thru them... but I do think they are cool though! Lol!
