I went to the aquarium in December 2022 to buy some neon tetras. I had set up a fully planted tank, cycled for 7 days, tested amonia nitrate ph hardness chlorine. All were in ideal levels so i was confident enough to start my tank. I initially bought 5 tetras so that it doesn't overload my filter (21L tank), within the first 3 days FOUR tetras had died. i thought maybe there is something wrong with my water, so i tested it again, nothing seemed to be wrong. I had 1 tetra remaining and i moved him to my betta tank immediately in Dec. In March 2023 i went to that aquarium again to buy 5 more tetras, again ALL OF THEM died within 3 days of purchasing them. I spent 2 hours integrating them into the tank, adding 250mL of tank water into the plastic bag so they can adjust to the tank water. There is nothing possibly wrong with my water or else my betta or old tetra would have already been dead. Just saying this is highly suspicious of the aquarium, are the fish all unhealthy? Have they been given some hyperactivity solution so they look more alive in the water? Are they just all SUPER OLD fish and happen to die as soon as i take them home? I will never know but i will not be coming here again. Never had a problem with Willoughby's aquarium, have bought plenty of fish from there not a single problem.

I could not believe the service( today 20Jan 2021 time stamp 5:10) . It was 5:03pm. I walked in with my daughter to buy some filter wool. I stepped in hardly and the man just shouted. We are closed without even considering if what are we here for. He must have thought another one to just look at the fish. I could not believe the way he mentioned we are closed rather than welcoming the customer and finding it out what is needed and that we are closing soon or just anout to close or it is 3 minutes passed our closing time. If I can quickly choose something. I am in retail business, I am never closed if I am serving a cuatomer on till and chatting to him(as one of the guy was serving). If you are closed shut your bloody door and have some manners, how to speak to people. Never ever I will visit them and even my friends will know about disgusting behaviour.

Im a local and knew this store when it used to be strictly aquariums, since the new owners have taken over they have done a fabulous job making it their own West Ryde aquarium. Has a great range of stock in everything from fish which might I say are price very well to plants, filtration, tanks, lighting and much much more, as I could never find a good local aquarium I usually would travel to as far as Auburn to get supplies, but can definitely see that they have taken West Ryde aquarium to a new level, staff are very knowledgeable and even when I showed interest in a new tank lighting system they demonstrated how it operated in store for me and made sure I knew how to install when I got home. I can say without a doubt West Ryde now has a good local aquarium store and I will be coming back again soon.

The staff have amazing customer service, knowledge and are happy to answer all the questions you would have. I myself have asked them alot regarding planted tanks and thing I need help to keep fish alive. They have helped me with special ordered plants and back ordering this big 5ft tank. And also to compare prices they are the best priced on all there items. I have driven to all the Aquarium shops in the local area and no one comes close to the quality and price of West Ryde Aquarium. You can walk the shop of hours and still not see all the types if fish they hold in stock. So don't take my word for it go see the staff for yourself and snap yourself a great deal and enjoy this amazing hobby like I am.

One of the staff that works there always smells (has had a smell the past few times I've visited), definitely doesn't shower before work. He also looks intoxicated. The other tall baldish guy is very rude and makes you feel unwelcome when you arrive. He also gave me a slow snail that was already about to die. I know that because I saw it was slow at the shop and he still gave it to me. Along with another healthy one. He is also rude to my daughter who is 4, she just wants to be excited about all the fish. He shouted at her to not tap the glass instead of being nice about it. He is definitely a racist. There have been other reviews about him being a racist as well.

Decided to check out Strictly Aquariums before I bought a canister filter online as they are just around the corner from me. Really happy I did. The young lady working in the store was courteous and very knowledgeable and showed me their stock. When I decided on the particular model I wanted [and I was surprised by the competitive pricing], she showed me the basics of setting up the filter and maintaining it. The service I was given was amazing compared to my other experiences with other larger/chain stores. I will be sure to become a return customer.

The team at West Ryde Aquarium are truely caring about their customers. I have visited a few times and each time they have always taken the time to answer any questions I had, never pressured me to make a purchase and have a great selection to choose from at very reasonable prices. They also mentioned they’d be quite happy to help track down and order in products specifically, if requested. This is definitely my go-to shop for all my aquarium needs and would highly recommend them to all!!

Very poor service. I bought my tank off them 2 months ago. When it it’s time to come to buy my fish I wen to Another finish store because there was more different fish . I went there today to buy 2 water test tubes and the replay I got was you have to buy 100 dollars worth because they come in a box. I can buy them for single ones each in other stores. I went there because it was close by. The service was poor and the way the respond to me was very slack. Not kind or very helpful

I’ve visited here a few times, dropped in just for some advice, and have bought some fish from here as well. Each time I have been to this store everybody has been welcoming and accommodating. It’s nice to see a local fish store that cares about the presentation of the store, the livestock and providing good customer service. This isn’t the closest store to my home but I will absolutely make the trip each time I need something.

The team at West Ryde Aquarium are super helpful and go above and beyond to service customers. The boys helped me source my wish list of products that are generally not readily available. Their prices are super competitive and their knowledge of products, plants and livestock is exceptional. I would thoroughly recommend any fish keepers to go check out the store and chat to the friendly and helpful team. Thank you again guys!

Went tonight and was impressed at the collection they had, both fresh and salt water, some truly beautiful fish. Big collection of cichlids too at a pretty decent price. The young lad, Dave, I spoke to knew what he was talking about and helped me pick exactly what I needed. Their plants are beautiful too, some of the best Tiger Lotus I've seen in the business! Would recommend checking it out.

Local shop that goes above and beyond with customer service. Broke a lid set on one of my 4 footers and couldn't find a good replacement before I went to these guys. Went out the back of shop took a few off cuts trimmed them up and out popped a replacement free of charge. Now that's how you do business, I'll be visiting my new local store alot more and everyone else should too. Legends

Extremely knowledgeable, professional and helpful! My very old filter had broken, and with assistance from the two guys working I was able to purchase the correct size filter. With education given to me on how to set it up and connect it, I was able to quickly and efficiently set it up at home with no issues! 10/10 customer service even on a busy Saturday :) highly recommend!

The best aquarium in Sydney. The staff are very friendly and are always happy to help out. Their honest advice was such that I now keep 2 tanks with healthy and happy fish. I have never lost a fish bought from West Ryde Aquarium. The only issue is, is that I find myself visiting too regularly always learning more and wanting more fish. Great place. Highly recommended.

What a beautiful place! The staff are so helpful. We just happen to past the shop and thought we have a look. We don’t really live in the area but it is definitely worth the drive there. Absolutely love West Ryde Aquarium, my favorite aquarium to get all my supplies, and fish! The staff here are always so helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to the health and maintenance of keeping my tank happy healthy. Even over the phone, they were able to tell me what treatment I needed to treat my sick fish, had the treatment ready for me when I came in!

Quality of fishes are commendable, clean water tanks and healthy fishes! Prices are a bit high but it pays off long term..good variety of marine, coral and fresh water lifestocks including plants and aquascaping materials...i have not seen unique fishes like Apistogramma or german bluerams or killifishes etc, but you will easily get the common ones...

We like the small fish collection they have near the counter. We visited this place very often. Have purchased gold endler guppies and some plants there. I like the layout, it's clean and tidy. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The last time we were there, it's feeding time. I like the stick on food, less clean for the tank.

I can't recommend this place highly enough. They have everything you need at great prices, but more importantly, the staff are amazing. They are so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and have helped me out so much while I set up my tank. I'm happy to say I have a happy, healthy, thriving tank thanks to these guys :)

every one of the staff were so nice and helpful! such an amazing selection of fish, i have a betta in a 90L tank and have looked everywhere for suitable tank mates. the only fish everywhere were neon tetras which i already have, these guys had so so many different new friends for my bub tho! left a happy girl :3

Great Service, They really helped me with my fish. I have faced some dificulties with my fish as it is my first time to have fish. The acid level of the water was high and my fish were dying. They took the fish in their tanks to save them and they guided us with a tratment. Really good service Thank you

Generally a pretty nice store but the Betta living conditions were absolutely horrendous. Small plastic containers with about an inch of water. Every Betta was literally on the verge of death on the day I went. I simply cannot recommend a shop that treats any animal in this manner.

Great aquarium. Customer service is a little hit and miss but overall my experiences have been positive. For this to be my preferred aquarium I'd want a more friendly approach towards customers, and perhaps a greater willingness to provide helpful advice.

I’ve been coming here for years now and I don’t know why I do. They staff are hard to get on to and when I do they will often contradict what another staff member says. It’s a shame as it could be a really cool place

DO NOT BUY FISH FROM HERE I brought fish from here and not only did they all come with an infection which then transferred to the other fish but they died within three days of purchase. I’m never going here again

This shop has evolved over the years in a positive direction. It has always had the goldfish etc but now stocks a descent range of saltwater fish, corals and some really nice fish tanks from small to large.

Wouldn't come here again. Went in store to get my son a fish and felt racially profiled. Plenty of workers and not one worker asked me if I needed assistance. Hope no one experiences what I Went through.

I purchased 3 cherry barbs, which turned out to be diseased and within a wek and half I have lost 80% of my tank including a beautiful 7yr old Flying Fox. Will never purchase from this aquarium again

I have been there several times there is one particular worker who is very rude has no customer service skills does not help you at all and has attitude. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
