I was a frequent client of Woodlands Mica. Until today. I'll be going elsewhere and recommend that others do the same. I keep a range of sanding belts of different grits for my sanding machine. After using the last belt in the pack yesterday, I noticed that the new pack I had purchased weeks earlier was the wrong size and decided to take it back. Unfortunately I can't recall where I put the slip - but the belts were in their original packaging. The staff flat refused to exchange the pack, first insisting that they needed the slip, and later arguing about the time that had elapsed since the purchase. I understand that they need to cross their t's and dot their i's - but the customer should always come first.

Attention ought to be drawn to the staff member permitted to wear a pro-Palestine brooch in a professional context, at this time. While objectively she must personally support whomever she chooses, it is not appropriate and unprofessional to display potentially divisive symbols in a business context, where their meaning might be interpreted to suggest, for example, hatred for another religious group that is represented in South Africa. Not least, it is disrespectful of customers who may be members of said other religious group or anyone who wishes not to take sides in a very sensitive (foreign) conflict. By all means, do it at home, but please leave it behind when you go to work.

The staff are very helpful and tries to approach customers to ask if they need help with anything. But they might also make suggestions that are not what you actually wanted. Then you might get the wrong product. E.g. I went to buy Pratley and ended up buying another multi bond glue which didn't work and I had to go back. Another time I asked if they can cut a piece of wood for me and they used a hacksaw and cut it skew. I am still able to use the wood, but I would prefer that someone tell me that it's something they cannot do.

After yesterday's experience these guys will have my business forever. The moment you walk in the door there are staff members standing waiting to help you. Simply give them your list and they do the work of finding the items for you . They are knowledgeable and make helpful suggestions without trying to push sales on you. It is clear that they enjoy their jobs and it makes the customers experience that much better. Stark contrast to some of their competitors down the road where you need to beg for service. Well done Mica!

Contractor trying new stores. Walked in for some supplies spent about 2k. Staff are unpleasant and watch customers like hawks, cant browse items freely reminds me of a Chinese shop the way they watch/follow. Cashier was very bland. Elderly guy at the plumbing section was the most helpful. Prices are abit steep, asked for contractors discount was told cashiers would be able to help me, when i got to the cashier was denied any discounts/contractors account etc. Dont think ill be back felt very unwelcoming.

I wrote a review. Complaint on the paint department I got the standard - " we take our reviews seriously" we will get back to you as per all the auto response by Mica Marketing. Follow this link etc etc. I bothered to both do that and I called head office. NO RESPONSE Basically Mica marketing just creates the impression they care and will respond. The truth is its just automated and no human lies behind the facade of response. How entirely dishonest and what a waste of time. "seriously"

I've recently started buying from this store I have found my experience to be well liked they have upgraded the store and its lay out is so much better the staff are very friendly and always smiling and joking with each other that creates a great vibe . They have lots of special and all in all great prices the store is neat and tidy and very busy most of the time they have a wide selection of hardware and paint great for your DIY projects.

Have been using Woodlands Mica for almost 14 years - their location and opening hours are convenient and they carry a wide range of stock (much more than most competitors). However, this convenience comes at a price - they are fairly expensive. Furthermore, and rather sadly for me, I have had incredibly bad advice from them on three recent visits, leading to a lot of money wasted - I shall not be returning... ever.

Often got helpful service here, but do not try to get paint matched here. Staff were not helpful even after I returned with a piece of the old wall scrapings. I do not understand their limitation, since Builders Express were able to colour match off the wall scraping perfectly well. Totally different attitude to client service. Lost this customer for good. Rude is never good, and it does affect buying loyalty.

I have been a regular customer at Woodlands for 20 years. I had two pots of paint from another supplier which I asked them to add some tint to and the manageress refused point blank. I was going to buy other items, including more if the same paint. But she was completely intent in not helping me. She fed me a story about how the other supplier messed with the formulas. I won't be going back.

They always seem to have exactly what we are looking for. Plenty of staff to help you find what you need. Can be a bit pricier than other hardware shops. The knowledgeable guys in the paint section are good at matching paint colours and advising on the best product for the project. It's the only place (I know of) in the area who mix up tester pots for Plascon and Dulux.

I had a short but varied list of items that I required for maintenance of a flat I was visiting. I was met at the door by a friendly assistant. He took me to each of the items without any fuss. They have everything you need for repairs and maintenance. One item I brought back, because it wasn't suitable for the application they returned without any fuss.

Just had the poorest service one can imagine at this store. Totally ignored by the cashier who then proceeded to talk to the manager in disparaging terms about the customer right in front of the customer. The manager didn't even have the decency to deal with the situation wherein they had spilled paint but would not listen to reason.

I would like to say that from top management to each staff member.Thank u for ur curteousness and helpfulness from a very grateful customer/client on the issue involving a financial institution.It is the public relations of this company that is the New Rainbow Nation and Spirit of this Busness.Thank u again.Keith Woodbine.

I returned fencing because it had rusted before I even managed to put it up. It was sold as galvanised. The lady was adamant that she didn't receive any complaints from other customers even though I had retained my slip as proof. She was unwilling to replace or refund the still rolled up fencing. I won't be back.

Best customer service of any hardware store. If you want assistance or advice, someone will meet you at the entrance and walk you through your whole list until you have every item. And the person will be knowledgeable. Totally different to the big competitor. If you prefer to browse they'll let you.

Shocking response from owner when trying to return an incorrect paint colour that his staff suggested and couldn't show me a colour swatch for as they had none. Took no responsibility, treated me poorly and completely ignored my complaint. After shopping here for 25 years I won't be back. Disgusted.

Without a doubt one of the best hardware stores in Claremont. Apart from being very well stocked their staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. There is always a staff member at the door to help out. No wandering around looking for items. The cashiers are lovely and very knowledgeable as well

Really like this hardware shop! They always help you when you are looking for something and i highly recomend going there. I have however bought paint here that wasnt mixed well and didnt paint well. It could have been due to the fact that it was cheap paint. Regardless this is my go to place!

I arrived at Mica with a dead phone battery and no way of showing which light bulb I needed. The friendly staff saved my day and let me charge my phone, they then estimated correctly which size I needed and told me how to remove and replace it perfectly. Excellent service all round!

Terrible . Staff informs on a regular process of exchanging and then management changes that. More than happy to sell but when it comes to exchanging or refunds then a totally different attitude. Which is direct conflict with their suppliers policy. Definitely not recommended .

Staff members are on the ball when customers walk in. Jeffar,I hope I got his name correct, assisted me all the way with the board, screws, paint and rollers. Even the mixing of my paint was done to the T and the painting counter knows their colors. Keep up the excellent work

Exceptional service from helpful, knowledgeable staff. Surprisingly wide stock. By contrast, the staff at a major national competitor would notice you only if they tripped over your body in the aisle after you had died of despair! Woodlands Mica is my go-to place.

Bit expensive with certain off there products but good help with everything you need. Excellent service and have nice staff to help you with what ever you need. Helpful paint dept.with good and experience staff to help you with what ever your problem is.

Finding this well-stocked hardware store in the Southern Suburbs makes me happy. Most of the staff are knowledgeable, but a fee could do with some product knowledge training. Generally well-priced however the wood products seemed a bit pricey.

Well located but parking can be a mission. Well stocked and friendly , helpful service. Have a busy, well run paint section where they will mix your colour and give it a good shake in one of their mixing shakers. Prices could be a bit better.

Best MICA I have ever visited. The service I received from the elderly gentleman at the keys and locks counter, was absolutely awesome. Thereafter, I sought help in the tools section and the guys were just superb. Keep up the good work guys.

Very seldom have I been into a hardware store, where I haven't had any issues over paying that little bit extra. The service is absolutely superb, they stock pretty much everything one needs, and the quality of the products is unsurpassed!

My virgin trip to Mica.. That's a place you can leave your husband for hours.. ;-) Terrific service, plenty of staff who asks you if you require help.. There could be more variation in items, but then they need more space..

This is the BEST hardware store in the South by a million miles. They stock everything in all sizes and quantities for most home jobs and the staff are super helpful. If it had a coffee bar in store I would never leave it.

Very helpful, polite and knowledgeable floor staff - other businesses can well learn from them. Surprisingly good selection of products, especially in the electrical section. Cashiers are a bit grumpy though.

Your brochure yesterday says 'We've got gas' - really?!?! No gas and was told there was no use adding my name to the list..... NEWS FLASH.... the local Babi shop had gas at a far superior price.

I had to purchase specific white paint. On arrival was greeted at the door, asked about what I needed and taken to what I needed. Also given an explanation on this specific paint.

Appalling customer service. Assistant doesn't even look you when addressing you. Unhelpful and actually just rude. The only helpful people are the cashier's who are outstanding!

Very accommodating and the gentleman at the light bulbs section was so kind and patient as he took me through the different bulbs and matched them with my needs.

General staff were kind and friendly. Floor manager however, is extremely rude and essentially kicked me out the store complimented with very sarcastic comments.
