"Victoria might be the smallest state in Victoria, we are never short of nice places to go to and places to hike! We just hiked up to Mt Riddell from Heavesville side of entrance on Wednesday"
Just about anyone that calls themselves a melbourian should atleast visit this park once in their lifetime. I did twice but that was over 3 decades in the 1980's via a school excursion. I probably went there my first time either in 1984/85 and then maybe 1987/88 via the old style US Greyhound bus coaches which maybe made it even more of a treat at that time all of us wearing name sticker tags on school uniform shirts/jumpers. What times they were, I do remember the bridge walkways through the tree forests which I think were elevated high up as well and the constant sound of birds and wildlife fauna?! I'll probably never go there again as wouldn't want to ruin treasured childhood memories where things were once so great and made sense. It's too far for me to revisit now and I'm happy and content that I went there as a kid where it really mattered. If haven't been here, you deserve to yourself to visit atleast once but good luck via our now dying world via post 2021....I hope it hasn't change much from last I was there...
recently had the pleasure of visiting a park in Melbourne, and I must say, the walking view was truly enchanting. The first thing that struck me was the lush greenery that envelops you as you enter. The towering trees provide ample shade, making it a perfect escape on a sunny day. As I started my walk along the well-maintained paths, I was captivated by the diverse flora that lines the way, from colorful native Australian flowers to exotic plants from around the world.
This is such a very beautiful area! I love driving through the Yarra Ranges National Park. There are many areas to explore. The tree ferns plus the towering eucalyptus trees make it feel like a place from back in time, when dinosaurs roamed! I also like the way the roads have areas to pull over, to allow other drivers past when I want to drive more slowly, and where I can also take photos.
Beautiful area for hikes and walks. Photography is always good here and there are a range of different levels of walks so can bring all the family. Nearby wine regions make this a good stop if you need some time with nature or wanting a picnic. Stevenson falls is a must as it's easy access and plenty of parking. The dairy farms in this area are also worth a look.
Victoria might be the smallest state in Victoria, we are never short of nice places to go to and places to hike! We just hiked up to Mt Riddell from Heavesville side of entrance on Wednesday. It was just so enchanting and there are so many paths! One can see Mt St Leonard and Mt Tanglefoot, and others from here! Just lovely!!
Mt Donna Buang in the Yarra Ranges National park is the only free snow play area near Melbourne. It's got some great toboggan runs for the kids and a large general snow play area. No skiing available which is great because it keeps the place free of Melbourne supporters.
We started a little too early in the morning and ended up driving through the gravel road for more than 25km's. Wasn't sure if the road ends, and started to get nervous eventually decided to turn back. The beauty of the mountain is unparallel. It's just so awesome.
These ranges are breath taking no matter where you are standing and looking from. Now part of and included in the Australian Alpine Ranges that run through NSW,ACT and Victoria there endless part plus pieces of this amazing territory to explore.
Brilliant road for a motorbike ride with the crew or a just a day trip getaway with the family, friends or a loved one. Lots of special places to stop by on the way for coffee and cake, and views through the valley to take your breath away.
Always so nice out here. The drive is great, just be wary of other drivers who may hug the inside of the corner. Plenty of 4x4 tracks too for beginners and the more advanced. Good place to get some steps in on some walking tracks also
Some amazing tracks around this area; just be careful though as some of them can and do cause significant damage to even the toughest of four wheel drives. Plenty of camping areas as well in case you have to fix your car.
One of the best natural places to visit around Melbourne, it's hard to beat the beauty and tranquillity of the Yarra Ranges. Olinda and sassafras are great places to stop for coffee or lunch.
All the walking tracks were very over grown and some were even impossible to find the path at all! Please put some money into improving your facilities, very disappointing.
Walked to the Mt. Riddell summit. Not too hard, 3 he return trip. Saw a wallaby and a few colourful birds. Some nice views along the way, but lots of trees at the top.
The forest really blow your mind. The tree trunks are big & the smell of pine wood enhancing the freshness feeling in the forest. A scenic route to enjoy the nature
The walks at Wirrawilla in Toolangi are beautiful and accessible to anyone who is after an easy 30 minute stroll through rainforest or a harder half day slog.
Great walking trail and amazing lookouts! I just enjoyed spending a day in Yarra Ranges National Park. There is a picnic area with lots of facilities.
Awesome experience amidst nature. Amazing views of the forest all along the route. The drive is beautiful with mesmerizing views all along the route.
It’s always beautiful to drive among the woods. But make sure to carry a jacket with you even though it’s warm. Temperature can fluctuate any time.
I love the mountains. Yarra Ranges always has something to see. It's super green, the wildlife is incredible. Definitely a must see.
Nice place what I could see , it had snow everywhere, 1 road closed due to black ice and the other road was too icey to drive
I've been driving for 1.5 hours and it's closed! If you want to visit Yarra ranges national park, please make sure it is open.
Beautiful national park with wonderful views and rainforest-like tree and fern lined roads and many walking tracks.
Amazing park with a lot of different areas where you can hike, barbecue, or simply enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Stunning drive to Lake mountain from Melbourne. Black spur road is the best drive when it’s raining.
Nice place to have quality time, bbq ready , small huts , public toilets, parking available
Amazing place for short one day hiking trips with friends in the peaceful aquaduct trail.
Great drive, with an endless list of places to visit! You'll never get bored.
We had a great time. Was cold but a good. Experience.
Beautiful spot for a walk and picnic
Never been, but I'm sure it's nice
