I had multiple services done here on 1/4/2019. This rating is for my facial and pedicure. The young lady that did these services was Jen. Firstly, let me say that this is my third time visiting the Zaspa in the Houston Art District. I had to complete a form to describe my skin type, needs, and concerns. It really is sad that I took the effort filling out this form and the esthetician didn’t even look at it. If she had looked maybe I would have enjoyed the facial. She didn’t ask about the fact that I use retinA on my face and how that would react with the products she would be using. So the initial product she used made my face feel like it was on fire....Horrible horrible experience! Luckily I was able to tolerate it for a short time but it just wasn’t a relaxing pleasant experience. Which is how I wanted my whole spa day to feel. After she wiped the fire cream off my face... she did some other things and a mask. Lastly she worked on cleaning my pores...removing black heads and white heads which was one of my main concerns. They are mainly on my chin and around my mouth and lips...had she read my questionnaire, she would’ve known that. But she didn’t read my questionnaire. She may have removed 3-5 blackheads/whiteheads on my forehead and nose and one on my cheek...and then she was done! Total waste of time and money. This was the Detox and Renew facial for $140. Please do not waste your money! I really felt like she didn’t want to be there and she didn’t enjoy her job. I was also lucky enough to have her do my Heavy Metal Pedicure...not lucky! It just wasn’t very relaxing. She wasn’t prepared items weren’t laid out so she had to continuously open/close drawers. They weren’t quite they were loudly closed and she kept dropping things. Everything was loud and clanky, not relaxing. i thought the chair might massage or vibrate slightly, but it didn’t, oh well. Aside from her being loud and disorganized....the pedicure was ok but not worth $95 For these two things I could’ve gone somewhere else. I did pay for these services and added a 20% tip....but she didn’t deserve a penny! Worst experience ever! I also had “The Morning After” package which was a scrub, seaweed wrap, and massage (added full body for $30 extra) this was $190+$30=$220. I really enjoyed this...Benjamin is the best! Two days later, and my skin still feels scrub soft. I love the Zaza Hotel and spa. I was very disappointed with the facial and pedicure. For a full day at the spa I should’ve felt relaxed and rejuvenated....and great about spending $546 and I DID NOT! I will try a new place in 6 months...the Houstonia has been recommended, but I’m not sure yet.

Massages! I love them! When SpaWeek arrived I was thrilled ($50 = a steal), my friend and I both made appointments at ZaSpa because we had heard such great things. When we walked in and changed into the robes, I have to say I was looking forward to the massage. The robe is by far the softest most AWESOME-est robe ever. True story. I got taken back to the room where I would get my massage. This is where things turn south. You definitely need oil/lotion something to help reduce the friction when getting a massage. HOWEVER, I do not want to feel like I'm about to be deep-fried! There was an overwhelming amount of oil poured on me and absolutely no friction for a bit. Repeat this for both arms and legs. When I was face up, the therapist reached his arms under my back. I'm use to this, what I wasn't use to was the close proximity of our faces, I could feel and smell his breath on my face...which let's be honest -- is a little awkward and just weird. I did peek real quick only to realize his face was about 3 inches away from mine. The one redeeming quality is that I asked for firm pressure to get some of my knots out, and he delivered. My upper back was sore for almost 2 days. At the end I was given hot towels (good lord did I need them) to wipe off the excess oil. I have to say next year for SpaWeek, I'll probably most likely choose a different spa.

Don’t walk away, run away. We had to miss an appointment due to family emergency. Their system doesn’t send reminders to rebook or show up yet they call 5 mins after the appointment time to tell it’s a no show and charge the whole thing. No accommodation whatsoever. If they can call 5 mins after, they can surely call 1 hour earlier. Even the cheapest hair dressers send you 5 reminders regarding your appointment yet their system does not send any reminder at all. Hence, you are at their mercy for editing/cancelling your appointment. They don’t care about you as long as they make their money. They need to get their system and customer service on par with the “elite” prices that they charge with no hesitation and emphaty, before we would ever consider them again.

Have you ever left from getting a facial and felt like you immediately needed to wash your face? I’ve had a lot of facials over the years and had only felt that way once until my experience at the ZaSpa museum district. I came in with makeup on… I know, shame on me but we were there for a girls weekend coming in from lunch. Makeup was only partially removed so the rest of the facial was piling products over a dirty face making it completely useless. I don’t feel the aesthetician was well trained. When I got back to my room, I could visibly see clumps of mascara under on my eyes. Definitely the worst or second worst facial to date. I have been to ZaSpa memorial city and it was pleasant. Nothing that wowed me but for sure several steps above the museum district

My pregnant wife made an appointment for a massage on 11/13/2020 that she missed due to being admitted overnight to the hospital with pregnancy complications. (Records available to management upon request ) Anyone who has children knows how potentially traumatic of an experience it might be. She was charged $75 for not canceling the appointment (1/2 the cost of service). I understand business is business, however part of good business is recognizing extenuating circumstances. At this point i am afraid you have lost our business and I would like to extend to you an opportunity to earn it back. I hope we can get this misunderstanding cleared up.

I’ve been to the ZaSpa numerous times, it’s always just really mediocre! I love the hotel, but the spa lacks the class that the hotel offers! I think they should offer more services and build or add a new area to make it more enjoyable and relaxing! There is a dry sauna and a relaxation room but that’s about all. I maybe a little salty because I didn’t like my masseuse.... he had hairy arms or rough skin or something did not enjoy my massage at all! Oh and I will never get a massage by a guy again! ☺️ -holistictravelbabe

Gigi at reception was extremely kind, she ensured we had everything we needed and made sure my best friend felt special on her birthday. Martha, was the most amazing message specialist I’ve ever had. She was kind, professional, and just made me feel extremely relaxed even when I felt I was incapable (I stress almost every hour of every day). I wish I booked my appointment longer. We enjoyed the pool and cabana afterwards. I am extremely satisfied with the service here and I can’t wait to come back!

Literally the WORST massage I’ve ever had. I upgraded to deep tissue and there was absolutely no pressure, no technique, the massage was very random and it seemed like she just overall lacked knowledge. Management wasn’t much help, offered to change it back to a Swedish massage after I repeatedly told him I didn’t enjoy the experience at all. He refused to offer any other resolve. I definitely will not be back here.

Definitely not worth the money. My massage therapist was awful and my husband's was mediocre. I was in more pain by the time I left than went I went in. They were nice don't get me wrong but their techniques were rough and jerky, not what I was expecting for the money we spent.

I loved my flash facial with Crissy and reflexology with Renetta, was amazing!!! The venue is beautiful! Great ambiance and service. I highly recommend it. I recommend the express therapies if you're pressed on time.

Experience was terrible especially for the $168.00 charge for massage. Changing room small. Relaxation area small. Maybe my expectations was too high since hotel look fabulous. I was TOTALLY disappointed.

Was not pleased at all. Came with my wife for a couples massage, the waiting area was real nosy. The massage was not good. Will not come here again for a massage.

Great time here. My therapist Bree was exceptional and made sure I had the best experience. Well worth the money I will definitely be coming back!
