We scheduled a car rental months in advance. I had spoken with Alamo customer service to ensure that they would be open because we were on a late flight to MDW. They assured me that someone would be there until 1am or 1:30 am. When we got to the car rental location at 12:55 am as the flight was a little late, they were closed not a person in sight except for the security guard. My arrival time could be verified by the rental car bus drivers and cameras. The bus driver even told me that they are there until about 1:30 am daily. The security officer said that the Alamo people had left already. I asked why would they leave when they knew I had a reservation and they had my flight number but he was unsure. I had to wait five and a half hours for the facility to reopen so that I could get the rental vehicle. I spoke with the Manager but he said that that his staff was there until 1:15 am, which was a lie and he could check the cameras or with security to verify. Frankly, he didn't really care. I usually don't complain but this was my worst rental experience. What happened was that the staff left early but claimed they left later. I could tell the manager knew what I was telling him was correct but he didn't want to admit it. Why? Because that would be an issue for him and his staff. I wouldn't recommend Alamo to anyone. I also called their corporate office to speak with them. They took my information but never heard back. I'm sure they have other things to do than to follow up with former customers.

Worst experience. We prepaid our rental to be picked up from Chicago Midway Airport in order to save time. Turns out it was definately a waste of time and a costly mistake. We returned our rental on schedule and upon arriving home and reviewing my vacation credit card charges, I discovered a second charge for the rental car. I called Alamo to report the second charge for the same rental and received a complete run around. Everything from being told to call the location of the pickup, to there was only one charge. It has now been over 10 days from my first enquiry and still no resolution. On my now 5th call to Alamo customer service and credit departments I am now waiting to hear back from the credit department to see if a refund will be approved after someone has finally admitted that I was indeed double charged. We will never use Alamo or any of their affiliated companies again if at all possible. We will continue to share our story with family and friends. This seems to be the norm for companies who are so large that they no longer care about providing a great customer experience because they are the only game in town. If you want to rent a car, you will more than likely be forced to use one of their many affiliated rental companies. Sad.

I inquired with one of the workers directing other car renters in to the parking spots when they returned the rentals. He told me that was the full line. Well, when I filled the car up the night before I returned the vehicle, I filled the vehicle past the full line; that is the first reason for the two stars. I was given false information. I looked at the full needle when I returned it at 3:30 am with no attendant available. I receive my bill and see an extra charge for $3.72 on my credit card for gas. I purposely looked at the where the line was because I was going to bring to their attention. I know it was not that much, it's the principle of the matter. If every company charged me a little bit extra I'll be down and out. That is why I gave this location the two star rating.

I’ve rented several cars over the years. This was my first time with the Alamo brand. I was able to reserve it through Delta which allowed me to get air miles with my rental. The shuttle at Midway to the rental car counter was about 15 min. Once we got to the rental area, we had to wait because it was one agent for the Alamo/National counter. Once I got to the counter I was able to get my paperwork pretty quick. Next we went to the lot to choose a car. Once we chose the car there was one last checkpoint before we got to leave. It’s a very thorough process. Overall, I was happy with the experience and they only place a hold on your card for the amount of your rental. Most other brands will hold the amount plus another $150 - $300 depending on your price. Any time I travel I will try to stay with the Alamo brand.

Thank you, Alamo,best service from a car rental. Excellent customer assistance from pick up to drop off. Friendly staff made this experience so pleasant. I could not have been happier. Easy pick up at Midway International Airport. Drop off was a little confusing getting to the garage,recommend that you allow a little extra time for driving ,since route goes through side street in Chicago. The Google Map was helpful, but a little more planning on my part would have been easier to find the return center. The shuttle service was amazing at pick up & return. The driver for return to terminal was hilarious, he sings a few tunes to engage with his passengers! Most enjoyable car rental return when most riders were singing along with him the theme song from Sponge Bob Square Pants.

Don't rent Alamo/Budget. For a car reserved in advance of arrival to Midway Airport Chicago we waited 2 hours in line with 50 other people in a continually increasing line. They underestimated their ACTUAL reservations. It was Thanksgiving Day. Airports weren't busy. But the car rentals were a disaster. We reserved a midsize car and wer ordered: a TRUCK - An EV - and finally "oh we have a van." We took the van which hadn't. Eem serviced Got to the exit booth and th cat was reserved for another customer. The att meant fixed that. We drive this car 3 1/2 hrs outside of Chicago and the check engine light came in. The van was low fluids. We filled antifreeze on the car return to the airport 2 days later. Never again. Always Hertz where your car WILL be there. Skip the counter.

When I arrived at the rental car center at Midway airport there was no wait to get to the customer service representative. The experience with her was fine but it seemed that she probably didn’t want to be there on that day. The vehicle I received was oddly dirty. It seems they rushed through the cleaning to push out vehicles quickly. The interior windshield looked as if it had just been wiped with a wet cloth which left a film over it so it was cloudy for the 5 day trip that I had. I realize that I could have cleaned it myself, but for a $600 rental it would have been nice if things were more thorough.

I rented car from Alamo Midway on 11/6/23. I was asked if I would prefer to pay $15/day during the rental and I declined mentioning that I will pay the tolls by my self. After I returned the car and wanted to make a payment for the duration of the time to the toll services, I noticed that the days that I rented was allready paid and I couldn't make a payment. At first Alamo sent me a bill for 10days instead of day rental and wanted to charge late fees for wrong bill. My tolls were only $6.4 and ended up being charged $31.4 ($25+$6.4) and $6.4. After calling the customer services still no change..

This company was fine. I did encounter a problem with my name changing. I made the reservation, then got married and changed my last name. I called Alamo a couple days before picking up the car and explained this to the Associate I was speaking with. He said it would be no problem at all and to just let the desk staff know when I picked up the car. It WAS a problem and delayed us probably about 30 minutes extra despite my calling ahead. It was troublesome but we did get the vehicle and all was well after that. Communication could be better between their call center and actual staff.

We rented a car at Chicago Midway airport for a full week starting on 9/12/2023. The young man who ushered us to our rental vehicle was courteous and helpful as he explained the features of the car. Then, when we returned the car, the gentleman who checked us out was also extremely helpful and caring, as he made sure that we were satisfied with the rental. The Alamo experience was excellent. Really enjoyed using Alamo for our rental car! The rental car was fantastic and their rates were cheap! Albert was fantastic help when we dropped the car off! The only main issue was the lady that checked us in for our rental. She was very rude when asking for my ID and information. She gave me a lot of grief over getting the wrong insurance, which this was one of my first times renting a car so I’m still unsure of why she was so upset about that. The rental car itself and Albert were fantastic, but the lady who checked us in upset both myself and my wife.

I rented a car through Alamo for pickup and drop off at MDW in Chicago. Our flight was delayed more than 3 hours and we only reached the rental car pickup at 12:30AM which is when it closes. However, they stayed later to accommodate for the flights that were delayed. The pickup was easy and smooth. The car was great for our trip. The return was even easier. We had Michael handle our drop off at MDW. He was so kind and courteous and got us checked out in no time. I highly recommend using Alamo and will definitely use them again in the future.

Man our Alamo experience at Midway was top notch! From the lady at the counter checking into get our car to the drop off process was easy as 1-2-3. Oh and so before we could get our full sized car we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to SVU which turned out perfect. So we will most definitely rent from Alamo again when we’re back in Chicago. I do wish I paid more attention to all the employees names that help us. Cause I definitely would like to thank them all by name for the awesome service they gave to me and my family.

The Alamo at Midway was great. Picking up was easy as ever, no deposit or hold for the car and dropping off at 4 am after hours was just as easy because there was someone there to direct the cars. Jake Hardie, the station manager was exceptional, he made the process of picking out my rental super easy. He was extremely kind and even gave me an upgrade. His customer service was what you can dream of. I will definitely be using Alamo again and will be a lifelong customer!

Sydney at the Chicago midway airport location is a Phenomenal representative for Alamo she went above and beyond her responsibility to assure my rental was pleasurable I had an issue with the car I rented at drop off she took the issue personally and made sure the right people were informed about it. Another great rental car experience at Alamo - Midway. The folks there really do their best to make sure you have a good experience. Don't blame them for understaffing or "short-staffing" issues - so many businesses are experiencing that now, so please - show them some grace. They're doing the best they can. I have been a loyal Alamo customer for years. Good value, good people. Thumbs up!

Without any exaggeration, this was the best rent a car experience I’ve ever had. Normally when I make a reservation for car pick up I’m still waiting an hour to do paperwork and what not. I actually got there two hours early , they were able to accommodate me. From the time I walked in to me leaving with the vehicle it was 10 minutes. Everyone was super friendly and polite.

Reserved the Manager’s special and oh boy! SPECIAL! Instead of a compact, I got a full size truck that was practically new! Not terribly handy driving around the streets of Chicago but I managed without difficulty. Very fast out and in. (As always!) No hitches. No glitches. No surprises.
