When I arrived at the National Car Rental counter, the kind person told me all I had to do was go right up the elevator to choose my car. She and the gentleman upstairs who gave me my option for type of vehicle reduced my stress of traveling tremendously. I truly appreciate National car we talked and had forgotten that I had become a VIP member years ago! Thank you! Update: traveled to Chicago and rented again with National a very cute black Audi sporty sedan. Very pleasant gentlemen at counter and upstairs with car. Enjoyed driving the car until the morning I was heading to the airport to return the car. As soon as I entered 55, I heard a loud pop from under the car and the right passenger tire blew and went immediately flat. I called my car insurance co to let them know in case I needed a tow. I called national and the woman was not helpful at all. She simply said “oh?” And no help whatsoever. Thankfully my son-in-law came and changed the tire. I did not know Audi uses a different size tools than standard American car too. Hangs a tire. Fortunately I was able to make my flight on time. I told the person at National when I returned the car. Generally I’m pleased with nationals service and quality of vehicles, but not this trip. I was rushed during the check-in process and explained that I was an emerald club member, but couldn’t find my membership number. The person checking me out (a young man) was very dismissive and finished my check in process without allowing me ample or proper time to find my membership, which I discovered later. Then I was assigned a car that smelled like smoke. Don’t rush customers and give better service when someone is attempting to locate information that will benefit them. There was not a ton of people behind me and no need to be dismissive or rushed. If a customer needs times, allow them this. Simple have them move to the side to gather themselves. I do not appreciate the way I was dismissed and moved along through a process when I was clearing looking for information pertinent to what I was doing. I’m sure not all guests are treated this way, but that’s another conversation for another time.

I picked up a rental car from Chicago Midway airport and the staff were absolutely wonderful. Not only were they professional and kind, they gave me their business cards and said if I needed anything to give them a call. Ethan walked me to my choice of cars and I asked if any of them had apple CarPlay and he suggested the Chevy Malibu because it was easy to sync to my phone. Ethan also placed my suitcase in the trunk for me and directed me where to exit the parking structure. The car was incredibly clean, I mean spotless and was a smooth ride. I drove it a few hours and dropped off to the Peoria airport the following morning. The gentleman at counter was very kind and professional, he made sure my experience went well and printed and emailed me my receipt. The brand National is consistent with the quality of customer service you receive no matter what staff member or location you are at.

Taking the shuttle to and from the airport was easy enough. And the Enterprise check in was quick using the free Emerald Membership which allows you to go straight upstairs. They're on the second level and easy to locate. We arrived somewhat early in the morning so there weren't a ton of options for the cars we picked the Malibu and it had a bit of a funky smell but not as bad you can normally experience if the last person smoked. Only one check out lane and the worker was super nice but took an extra minute or two than normal. The negative of the experience came from the fuel charge. We filled up only about 3.5 miles away from the drop off and it was only a 10 min drive but they still charged us more than a gallon of fuel so nearly 10 bucks with higher than normal fuel prices at the moment. Which the last bit of an experience really put a damper on the entire time.

The lost and found process is broken. I was directed to fill out online forms twice so 2 reference #, spoke with staff 3-4 times and still unclear if someone actually checked the vehicle. While the item has some value, for most it does not yet there was no way to categorize so a sense of urgency was taken. For all the great uses of technology, the phone systems are not designed to get to live employees when the technology just doesn't work and time is of the essence. And when you get to someone live, they want to get you right back to the non solution oriented tech vs resolving the issue. Not unique to National or the car industry. Disappointing enough for me to try Turo for the 1st time where I received personal engagement with top performing owners and picked up the vehicle close by my location.

upon arrival at Chicago Midway airport, the options on Emerald Isle vehicles has deteriorated. There was 1 Colorado, which when I got in with my 11 year old, smelled like a cannabis party just finished inside there, my next option was a GM Trax? Thats the best for Emerald Isle? Very disappointed in the options, this has been the case the last couple times I have used National. Also, when I arrived back at the airport, I was asked how was your experience, I told the National employee the info above, and she talked to the manager and told me they would take a day off my bill and I would see that come through in the next day. I never received the credit to my credit card, I received the full bill for the 2 days I used. Very disappointed in the quality of vehicle and lack of follow up by the manager.

There was no Emerald Aisle at this location. This is the first time I booked National Emerald Aisle and I had read through what is it about and saw many posted about the benefit of paying Emerald Aisle, unfortunately when I arrived at MDW location, the ONLY vehicle I was offered was Toyota Corolla, where as whoever come after me and knowing that they also booked Emerald Aisle, they were offered more options. I had asked the associate and she told me that's the only vehicle they have. Upon taking the only car they have for me, I have to go through check out, the lady at the booth had to re-verified my information etc... and she was not able to locate my booking and it took her over 10 min to go back and forward to check on my booking.... I would not come to this location for rental any more.

Exceptional process, no long lines or wait time. Took elevator to 2nd floor, variety of vehicles to chose from, ready with keys inside, put my luggage in car and drove to check out booth, took less than 5 minutes. Return process, quick and easy- direction signs for return vehicle clear and simple direction. They also have an attendant booth who directed me where to return vehicle. Upon return, attendants guided me where to park, asked about my experience with the vehicle, asked how I wanted to receive my receipt, thanked me for choosing National Rental Car, and directed me where to go to board free shuttle to airport. The staff that I interacted with at Midway National car rental was professional, super nice, good at their job and cared. I appreciate your service and your staff.

My rental experience at Chicagos Midway Airport location was flawless! We arrived at the location (via car) went right up to the second floor, chose our car from the Emerald aisle, and went right to the exit gate. Robin was Awesome! Personable and helpful and just an all around great representation of the National brand. Side note for those renting. If flying into MDW this is a shuttle location (as are all of the rental cars at MDW). If your local and needing a rental, there is a gate on the west side of the garage (Laramie Ave) between the two buildings. it makes for an easy drop off and also pick up upon return as well. Convenient, friendly location and National and Emerald Aisle, is always my go to. We had a mid-size SUV for the price of a mid-size car, can’t beat that.

I’ve rented with National for years and the service had always been excellent but this last rental I’m not too happy about. I rented from the Hartsfield-Jackson airport location. The pick-up is always a breeze because I have a corporate account so I pickup from the executive aisle and go. However, the drop off this time did not go smoothly because Nationals system was down. Even though I dropped the vehicle off earlier than it was due, the vehicle is showing overdue on Nationals app. I’ve called them a couple times and have a case number but the issue still isn’t resolved. This is unacceptable and disappointing because I’ve always had great service with National. I hope this is resolved sooner rather than later.

National Car Rental's marketing team is clueless They don't seem to know that they represent the most customer friendly, efficient car rental service in the country. And, the next best company, is not even close. Took me way too long to learn this. Just join the Emerald Club, and select your car with no waiting. No cost to join and life gets better. One saves lots of frustrating time waiting to pick up and there is ALWAYS someone to greet you when you check in. Their buses from the airports run frequently and, five minutes after the bus drops you off, you are driving away in your car. A well-oiled machine, even if they have no idea how important their caring service is.

Honestly, I have never really had major issues with National. However, a couple months ago, I accidently took the car key for their car and left my personal. I filled out the lost and found report but never heard back. I spoke to 3 different managers and all have failed to get back to me. I traveled back to Chicago recently, for work and asked again if anyone has heard anything and I was told that the fob I left behind was used for their own vehicle. They overwrote the program to fit their vehicle. I was told sorry it was your responsibility to make sure you had all your stuff. nothing else we can do. It is just extremely frustrating that I was told that.

There were no cars available for any of the customers who had reservations. We had to wait as cars were returned for them to be turned over for the people with reservations. There was no order to the chaos and the team at MDW seemed to be unprepared for how to handle this type of situation. The gentleman who was "in charge" was frantic and saying inappropriate things in front of customer, for example. "we have EV's but they are not charged, it's on you (the customer), if you get stuck, you get stuck". He would also promise the same car (as cars came available) to multiple customers, but was not present to facilitate who received the next vehicle.

Our experience was exemplary with National over the Labor Day Holiday. Upon arrival at the Car Rental Center at Midway, we were greeted by one of the lot supervisors. I explained that I had Executive Elite status and was looking for a vehicle which would comfortably seat five people. She directed us to a Jeep Grand Cherokee that had recently been brought up from being cleaned. This vehicle was had a little mileage on it (26,000) but it drove beautifully. On return, drove back in, lot person scanned the information and we had our email receipt before we left the building. Wonderful experience. Nice job National!

The agents at the airport were outstanding, starting with Andres, the manager. However, due to an emergency with the car on Oct 14 in the mid morning, I was sent to an Enterprise location in downtown Chicago (10 East Grand ave) and the manager in that location was extremely rude. She treated me so despectively that I cried. I have NEVER been treated like that. In a sense I am glad they sent me to the midway airport location (where I had originally rented the car) and there, on the other hand the manager Andres offered the best service, redeeming the actions of the manager in the other downtown location.

Nothing was wrong with the service I guess but I feel the billing is deceptive. Not sure why the amount due at pickup was $250 less than the total charged…it was also 12:30am when this happened so I didn’t exactly have options to sort things out. I’ll probably go with someone else next time because I don’t like all the hidden charges. Just tell me what I owe and I’ll budget the money but right off the bat my trip was $250 over budget and just not a great experience. EDIT:Changed to 1 star because the company responds like they care to review and then ignores emails. Way to have poor customer service!

I have been with National for years and it is normally a great experience for me. This time was the exception for they were short on cars and we had to stand around waiting for a car. There was only one car available and it was too small for our needs. The staff at checkout was less than helpful or courteous. One thing that was nice is it was a brand new car but not what we needed however it did not have GPS???The staff when we returned the car was extremely helpful the exact opposite of previously. Overall it would have been fine just not what I expected from previous experiences with National.

Had problems with the navigation. Touchscreen wouldn’t respond and buttons had a mind of their own. In addition the nav button repeatedly acted like it was pressed when we were just sitting there. Cleaning the screen didn’t help. Was also struck by a large rock which cracked the windshield and the return agent didn’t seem to know the protocol for business travelers using a CC and insisted on getting “my” insurance info. I refused, and not until he processed the return did he see that I was covered. It was an uncomfortable exchange. Aside from that, the car got me where I was headed.

Cannot speak enough about National, and this branch in general. While work has taken me in and out of the Denver Airport for the last two years, I wanted to speak about my interaction on 12/27/23. I was caught up in the Southwest debacle, and in order to get back in time for work had to embark on an 18 hour road trip home driving though the night. The National staff were courteous, asked how my day was, and went to bat for me with the final cost of the rental. I would recommend this location and staff to anyone as they took care of their customers and want to do the right thing

As part of Emerald Club, we received a free upgrade to a minivan (since it was one of only 4 cars left at the time) and we couldn't have been more satisfied with the vehicle. Top-notch functionality, with easy wifi connection to your phone. Great gas mileage, key fob door opener for both sides of van. I couldn't come up with a complaint even if I were pressed to do so. Staff was friendly and quick to reassure us that we wouldn't be charged for the upgrade. They were right. Lisa at the checkout booth was knowledgeable, quick and reassuring. Great experience top to bottom.

I really appreciate the service from National Car Rental at Midway airport. I've been renting from them consistently for over 8 years now, and I've never been disappointed. They always have a very good selection of vehicles in the Executive area, and the staff are friendly and professional. A special shout out to Kim who works the check out booth... she is a super friendly, familiar face for a road warrior like me, and I enjoy our quick conversations each time we meet. Reserved for Labor Day weekend months in advance and upon my arrival I ended up waiting almost an hour for a car to be returned or brought over from another lot for me to use. I had to put my name on a list and wait in a line behind other rental customers. I am executive elite status due to constant travel and usually walk straight to a car and go. Tried calling customer support and they were unable to help in any way. I ended up being late to an appointment due to waiting. I will definitely be looking at using a different company for future rentals.

The employee checking me out was awesome as all of your people are but he was especially diligent in asking myself and anyone that drove up how their experience with Enterprise was. I love being able to "skip the line" and pick a car. If I ever have the tiniest issue it is dealt with professionally and quickly! I have used Enterprise all over the states when I travel and all the locations are consistently courteous, helpful and professional! I don't like using any other rental car company as they cannot match your employees' customer service!!

We had an incredible experience with National at every location this trip. Flew into Midway and picked out our midsize SUV for our trip of driving RT 66 from CHI to LAX. In Amarillo, I noticed the driver side rear tire had low pressure. Called the hotline, aired it back up and swapped out for another excellent midsize SUV in Albuquerque. Dropped it off at LAX after driving around with some pretty bad Cali drivers. Awesome rental for an epic road trip and every location had wonderful staff. Thank you.

From the woman who greeted us at Midway airport at 9am on April 25 and steered us to the Emerald Aisle to Kim at checkout and Robin who assisted when we returned the minivan, our experience was wonderful. These ladies are the reason we are Emerald Club members. I wish I would have thought to catch the first woman’s name because she could not have been more helpful. Just a great experience! The Midway airport location provided one of the best customer service experiences we have had.

I recently had a great experience at the National car rental company. As an Emerald Club member, I was able to quickly and easily pick up my rental car directly from the aisle. The company offered a wide range of vehicles, from mid-size to sports cars, and the attendant on duty was extremely helpful in assisting me with my selection. The rental and extended week was done smoothly. Upon returning the car on a Sunday proved to be challenging. I’m sure it was a unique situation but instructions on where to park the rental was given well after going to a lane was accessed without backing up and causing a minor jam. I did comply and waited several minute and no one ever came to check the car in. It was a coordinated mess. It was uncomfortable but I appreciate the staff for their efforts.

It was great that I got an informational email the night before my reservation (confirm, car type, pick a car from emerald aisle, etc). It also gave me instructions on where to catch the shuttle at Chicago Midway. Everything was as advertised...2 attendants showed where to grab a car, keys were waiting, was out of there very quickly. Very thankful as I was heading off to meetings that day! Not many positives in travel anymore, this was one. Thanks!

We rented a GMC Yukon for a week and had an annoying mechanical problem. We filed 2 different complaints and when it came time to pay, a young manager named Jeffrey Mayberry and his associate Mario were not only familiar with our complaint but were very apologetic and very understanding. They made a price adjustment which we appreciated.They were BOTH very kind, understanding and very professional!!! We will be renting from National again!

I had issues with National last year (unable to find rentals) and contemplated switching providers. Today continued to show me why I should continue business with them. After leaving my phone in the rental (I noticed after I was at the terminal), Dorrien went above and beyond to get my phone back to me (car had been taken for cleaning). I arrived on a late, Friday night flight, not checking in until after 10 PM. I was checked in & in my vehicle, a new Toyota Corolla, spotless w/ a full tank, & on my way in under 10 minutes. I absolutely love National Car Rental. I love the fact that I can bypass the counter and go direct to my car and pick the one that I want that fits my trip. The staff is always helpful and friendly. Piece of cake dropping it off I can not remember the last time that I waited more than 5 minutes after putting my car in park at the return line. They are the only rental service that I will use - THE BEST!

I always look forward to the Rental car facility for Chicago Midway. The staff are always sweet, my favorites are Al and Robin. I also look forward to the shuttle drivers, who are more often than not in a great mood. Cars are always clean and updated. The only downside is Midway kind of sucks. My experience with National was quite positive. I encountered kindness as I entered the rental garage (a man named Johnny was particularly helpful in directing me), and I was given more used information as I prepared to drive from the rental area. My car, a Kia, was simple to operate and a smooth, comfortable ride. Returning the car was quick and easy.

Efficient check-in / checkout. Nolan greeted us upon return & was friendly and courteous. My husband forgot his phone in the rental and he realized it after we were on the shuttle to MDW. Shuttle driver drove him back to rental center and another employee drove him in a car back to airport so he could catch our flight. Excellent service!

I am a loyal national customer. I rent most often from Midway in Chicago and always get great service from Kim and Phillip. I’ve only had one experience in all my years of frequent travel and renting from National and that was with the Denver airport branch. I probably won’t rent again from Denver but otherwise National has been great.

I was renting a Nissan Rouge and let the attendant know the car I was renting smelled like somebody was smoking in it. I let the lot attendant know about the smelly car. He thanked us and upgraded us to a much nicer car for no charge. I would highly recommend National Car rental. Very happy with the car We we’re upgraded to.

MDW National Car rental is always a solid choice for my business and personal car rental needs. I also LOVE the Emerald Executive selection of vehicles. This time I rented a Cadillac XT6 and it was my best ride I've ever had in a SUV rental. Customer service at this location is GREAT too. Will always be coming back!!

I love National .. using the app makes it easy to book : no line up to fight with .. just go to the garage and pick your car. Also love the fact they never hold a deposit over your head. Customer Service is always above and beyond. If you travel a lot it’s the best choice. 1 downside … they’re only based at airports

They were able to just switch it to my name & since I’m a emerald user I was still able to keep the same rates . So thank you for a good experience.

Both the check out and return processes were seamless. We were able to choose our car, and there were many choices, proceed to the exit and were on our way in less than 10 minutes. When returning the car we were able to pull up and were promptly serviced and was able to leisurely take the shuttle to the airport.

Vehicle check-in was fast and easy. Noticed the tire gauge warning after driving it a few miles; checked the tire pressures and they were fine; upon returning the car, notified attendant of this and he took 10% off my bill for the inconvenience. Will use National in the future.

I did an after hours drop off at 5 am Friday morning. They did not check the car back in until Monday despite me calling multiple times on Friday + Saturday. They also charged me for Friday-Monday even though the car was turned in, in their lot, and they knew it was there.

Quick and easy pickup and return , car exterior was dirty probably because it was a black vehicle, interior was clean but being a non smoker it smelled of covered up cigarette smoke , car preformed flawlessly . Would have been a 5 but because of the cigarette odor a 4 !

I've used National over 25 years ago and had to pay to be Emerald at that time. I liked the service and the option to pick any car on the lot. I was pleased to learn that you can still do that without having to pay extra for the emerald membership.
