To be avoided! As a tourist and 3rd year business student I was more than disappointed not with the service but with the behaviour of the waiters and the bar itself...! To begin with we had booked for 20 people (separate table for sanitary restrictions) for a very special event. When we arrived, to our great surprise, there were 5 seats missing... So there were people standing, the staff not even trying to find a solution put pressure on those who were standing! We had to fight with the staff ourselves. We ordered, so far so good, the orders arrive quickly, everything is going well, when suddenly, after a few orders! the waiter just told us to pay right away or else "they wouldn't serve us anything"...! But excuse me? we are not thieves, we were quietly having a good evening... So I don't know if it's because we were young foreigners but anyway. I won't comment on this allegation. We decided to pay despite this unusual behaviour and there came a new problem. We wanted to pay separately which is not a crime! It's also part of the waiter's job to collect orders whether they are separate or not! but to our great amazement "they don't want to" and once again put pressure on us... Shock us says give in to refuse and demand to pay separately which is legitimate! So he goes back to the cashier empty-handed and comes back this time telling us that we could separately so of 113 euros (it was only the first turn so I think we were the best customers of the evening in case they still had doubts about our solvency) divide in 3! But we had asked him to pay each one for himself! so he didn't listen to us at all! a shame. Finally one of our friends decided to pay in one go. So forgive us for these remarks but in 20 years of bar-hopping I've never seen that in my life! So yes, it's annoying to divide one by one, I can understand that (I worked in a bar all summer) but that's what work is all about! it's not a holiday, there's a motto that says "the customer is king". I personally and on behalf of 20 people do not recommend this bar! No hard feelings though

Greeted by a member of staff at the door while the place was mostly empty who advised me and a friend that he "would have to see if there's any availability". He was gone for a few minutes and in the mean time another waitress came along and sat us along with another group behind us. The first member of staff came back down with a manager and pointed us out to him. The manager came over and told us that we couldn't stay if we didn't have a booking. When we queried with him why it was only us that had to leave and pointed out to him that he was clearly lying he just kept doubling down on his lie which made the experience worse. We left immediately and moved on to a seating area of a pub which is also in the main square of temple bar and watched other people just turn up and walk in without reservations. A couple exited the restaurant and stopped while passing to tell us they did not have a reservation and were disgusted with the way he treated us. We will never return and the couple said the same. Maybe not a big hit to their business but if this keeps continuing it will eventually have an effect. Wouldnt recommend to anyone!

Way overpriced and not worth it!! I had a goat’s cheese salad (so sorry now not to have taken a picture). A small round of cheese, a few mixed salad leaves, a cut up beetroot, and walnuts - priced at 18.95!! A Diet Coke 4.10 and a glass of draft beer 4.60. Note: This was a Saturday afternoon, so not even night rates. My grandson had a child’s pizza, cost 10.00, no cordial or any other offer such as a scoop of ice-cream with the kids menu. The place was empty. The only reason I stayed was because they had pizza on the menu and that’s what my grandson wanted. Not being a Dublin native I didn’t know where else to find a good pizza restaurant and we were hungry. Definitely won’t be going back again.

I am not one to review badly unless I feel fully justified in doing so. I am appalled at the doorman tonight 03 Sept. We thought we would pop in for one drink. Before we were going to enter had vape and immediately the doorman said no vaping inside only outside. We said that we know which is why we stopped to vape then enter. We had one more puff outside and that's when he came back and told us to go elsewhere. We asked why and he said because I said only to vape outside. We didn't understand his reaction as we were OUTSIDE. We didn't even enter so didn't break any rules. We found him to be very rude and the most unfriendliess person during our stay in Dublin. There was no need for him to assert his authority of who he wants to let in. If we broke the rules we can understand but we were OUTSIDE!

I was surprised this venue still existed. On my previous trip to Dublin in 1991, when I was only a lad, this place had something unique that very much spoke to my teenage self. Returning 32 years later, the venue did not capture my imagination as it had done previously. Maybe it was the quietness of the lunch crowd, or the fact that the venue isn't the cleanest, and it showed in the full daylight. The food was better than we were expecting from the look of the place, and that would be the reason to return. Although its location in the temple bar area ensures that prices are on the high side.

The bouncer is xenophobic, aggressive and rude. He shoved me for no reason and denied entry based on my nationality (allegedly because some people of the same nationality caused problems a week earlier, which has nothing to do with me). I had been in the pub for an hour previous to this encounter, I exited to breath a bit and escape the heat and was denied entry with no explanation other than my country of origin. Fire your bouncer and tell him not to touch women (and people in general) who have done literally nothing and haven't made physical contact with him in any way, needless to say not an aggressive way either.

The worst 2 min experience. Popped in to listen to music. The aggressive bouncer told me to move and shoved me. I asked him not to touch me and he forcibly removed me. 1. I was sober 2. I own a bar. I’m familiar with the situation. Took about 30 secs to find similar reviews about their rude aggressive bouncers. To be fair, the place looked like it attracted young and obnoxious crowds as opposed to so many other great Irish pubs in the area. But I was amazed at his inappropriate behavior. Don’t get the sense the owner would care to much. They were so busy they can afford to treat customers poorly. Every other pub in Dublin had the best customer service

  • Navya Bavot

The rating is only for the musicians really. Unfortunately all the waiters except for Manu and Matheus were horrible to us. Don't know whether it was racism? Because they weren't friendly at all. Treated us like second grade citizens, did not talk to us nicely at all. Especially Lucas. But the other 2 Manu and Matheus were really sweet and helpful. To the management, Please change the people, you've gotten right with the location, the ambience, music, food was decent and not the best I've had.

Pleasantly surprised at this place, as the food was reasonably priced, quite tasty, and the portions were decent too. A good place to visit for a pint and lunch if you're in Temple Bar. The service personality from both employees was as cold and dry as you can get (weekday lunch in Temple Bar, I get it), but the food was served quickly...and the rest of the experience made up for it all. Will likely be back!

Crown Alley in the Temple Bar District of Dublin. Used to be more famed for its pizzas and the overhead wire system of sending food orders to the kitchen. Beer sells more throughout the day so, although food is still served, the range of food choices has been more streamlined. It was quiet when I visited. I was given a choice of where I could sit and I was promptly served. Prices are similar to all other Temple Bar pubs and I enjoyed my Guinness. With live music and a busier pub there could be a great atmosphere. We'll worth a visit.

  • Paul Tysinger

Good selection of beer but the staff sucks. We had to chase the waitress down because she didn't "notice" us. Normally that wouldn't bother me, but after we tracked her down to order some food, she gave us attitude. Basically asking her to do her job was annoying. We remained polite, but when our food was delivered she just kind of threw our plate on the table, didn't say a word, then walked away. Even though the live music was good, i wouldn't recommend for anyone unless you are only going to drink and listen to music

Dined here twice while in Dublin because once wasn't enough. Really fantastic bar food, great live music, beautiful location (can't believe I didn't take more pictures). The burgers, fish and chips, and bangers and mash are truly wonderful at this place. It's smack in the middle of Fleet Street where you can sit inside and get lay in the pub feel, or sit in their outdoor seating and take in the outdoor music and scenery. Excellent place!

  • Marco Weber

Food was good. Service in the restaurant was very good and the music was great. Unfortunately, we were kicked out as a group downstairs in the bar because we didn't seem to drink anything even though we ate and drank for over 400€ before in the Restaurant. I definitely don't recommend this bar!

Me and my Dad visited and both got the standard burger. The meal was flavourless and gave me almost instantaneous food poisoning, having to vomit in the toilets up stairs within an hour of eating. The rest of my meal followed later that night after a drawn out argument with my stomach. Not an ideal way to start the holiday!

Last night I was asked by the security door to leave the pub and don't come back without any reason.I work for an important Irish institution so I wasn't drinking alcohol nor I talk with anyone. I seen the bartender in the small bar looking with a bad face at me. I feel so humiliated all the people was looking at me like I 've done something bad. I will look for legal advise. Regards, Roland

Party zone downstairs, Restaurant should be avoided due to Waiting staff, they were really bad, waiter walked up to us and just stood there (saying nothing, just looking at us), I asked my son what he wanted to drink, the waiter said “food”…. This just about sums up the quality of service. Food was very average.

The Music was phenomenal. The reason for the 3 star rating is because we were paying for each round, every time & we had the receipts to prove it. Then suddenly we were told we owed an extra $30 & four different people told us for different reasons. It was weird and the wait staff seemed stressed. I don't know what on earth happened, but up until then it was fun.

In here at the weekend with all the family and as always very impressed, the kids menu is fantastic and plenty of choice ,always clean and very well turned out friendly staff to look after you.The base on their pizza is probably the finest in Dublin and a very central place to meet up for lunch. As always will be back.

Good atmosphere, good music, and good beer. Food is delicious (tried their fish and chips, which always tells you a lot about an establishment.) Nice crowd. Everything is like it should be. Not cheap as this uz quite a touristy area of Dublin. Female bartenders are beautiful. Male ones are awesome professionals. Nice atmosphere like I already said.

Nice live music, my friends and I really enjoyed the 2 lads singing, but the worst beer I have ever tried in Ireland. The guy in the bar under the stairs had no idea how to pour a pint. Can’t recommend to anyone who wants to drink in Temple Bar.

Had a great night here. Nice vibe and the band was good but just as we were leaving a fight broke out. The bar staff took the men outside but we noticed one of the bar staff kicked one of the guys in the neck as he was on the ground. We dont know what went on but that was shocking to see. Turned me off the place.

The waiter was a bit clumsy, but very polite and helpful. The coffee was ok, but took them a while to bring it. If only the place was in better shape, it would have gotten a higher rating from me. Might come back for coffee since it's in Tempe bar, but not sure I'd ever have a meal here.

Music every day and very good food. The owner is very nice and we went there twice on our trip. Staff is very attentive and you won't ever get thirsty. Cheers …

Awesome place! Waiter was super friendly. Introduced us to RedBreast whiskey. We're talking a bottle home.

Not usually a fan of pubs in temple bar but had a great time here. Was with a group of lads and we listened to the live music for hours in there. Really good fun

Was our favorite pub when we visited Dublin. Great music.

Average service. No irish person served me so the staff hadn't a clue what I was trying to say unless I pointed at the menu. Degrading in my own country.

We had a great evening at the bar with really good live music. Thank you for the nice experience.

It was ok, nice atmosphere the music was good. Getting served was difficult the waiters were more interested in talking to their friends than serving

The music was great. The nachos was okay, but the pizza was really bad. I recommend this place if you just want to grab a drink and listen to music.

  • Suzan de Graaf

Very good live music! The crew is polite and the atmosphere is just right to have a drink with friends but also dance a little. We had a great time!

Damn good food, friendly staff and groovy atmosphere! My little girl said it was; "the best place to eat when on a day trip to Dublin". Thanks lads!

The bouncers are discriminatory. We saw two women wearing headscarves being refused entry. A few days later, a man wearing a dress was thrown out.
