I waited a few months to post this review as I was going to Greece regardless of whether or not I had a visa and was unsure of the consequences of a bad review. Let's start with the website. Unclear and confusing, especially if you do not fall neatly into the visa categories they have set out. I filled out every paper I thought was necessary until my parents showed me that there is a bridging program for youth that speeds up the visa process, requires entirely different paperwork. I ended up being both sets to the consulate. They were incredibly rude to us. I had the same experience as some of the other visitors below; I was belittled and shut down before I could ask any questions. They accused me of going to Greece to help refugees although my employer's letter clearly stated I was working for a marine research institute (???) and refused to speak with us any longer. They stated there was no way I could get a visa in time (I went to the consulate a few months in advance, because I'd been worried about this) and told me to go without one, since as a Canadian I can stay for 3 months in the schengen area without a visa. They walked away from the desk after this. They were also yelling at us by the end of our conversation. I ended up cutting my trip short in order to accommodate not having a visa. I'm guessing they were not interested in making time for a younger student who was staying for 4 months and decided they could be rude and unprofessional to someone who wouldn't be giving their country a ton of tourism revenue. This experience was over 8 months ago but has stuck with me as one of the worst encounters I've had with any kind of public servant. I will be writing a letter to my MP about the youth bridging program; I'm confused as to why a cooperative program exists if only Greece is benefitting from there youth coming here and not the other way around. If you need a visa, make an appointment WELL in advance (3-4 months I think, better safe than sorry) triple check your paperwork, and hope for the best.

In general the customer service is poor with a few exceptions. and depending on the person who serves you. They do not accommodate the elderly or the disabled in any way. Where other Greek Consulates in Canada would send a representative to get to a disabled person’s residence, the Vancouver one does not.Practically that means tremendous problems for the person trying to get documents done. They are very disorganized and still function very ineffectively. Most documents could be easily done online and with the use of software programs where you can sign a document securely online. They refuse to do that. They expect you to have the money or the physical ability to travel from a different Province to get a document done! They don’t care if the person is 88 years old, living alone or with little income. They expect that person to be able to afford to take a plane to travel to Vancouver to get a document!!! They do not even help that elderly person get all the insane things they demand, like specific passport photograph requirements that only a specific photographer close to the Consulate can get right! They don’t care if that elderly person gets lost in an unknown city, gets frightened or confused, trying to navigate their insane bureaucracy! They don’t give a darn! In other words, they still function in the Middle Ages, don’t give a darn, are rude and unhelpful.

I've been working with Anna Karamaroudis this past 6 months on acquiring Greek Citizenship. She has been nothing but spectacular! Our situation was a little complicated as it required us to first register my father's family tree, and from there, register my own and begin the process of acquiring citizenship. My Dad and I went down to the consulate from Kelowna to complete his paperwork and Anna was a rockstar. We were there for an hour and a half, my Dad was comfortable (he's 92), charmed and extremely impressed with Anna's ability to process our documents, answer questions non-stop with co-workers at the consulate and all the while maintain an entertaining conversation with us both. Against all odds she was able to complete my father's registration in just two months. Without her experience, Greek contacts, long hours and willingness to keep trying we would still be waiting. I went back down a few weeks ago to complete my end of the paperwork now that my Dad's is done, and it was exactly the same amazing experience. Next step will be a passport once the wheels of government complete their slow, methodical turns (hopefully 8-10 months). She will be leaving soon for a new posting in Greece and it was her objective to complete all the files she had started before she left. I am ever grateful that I was one of those files! Σας ευχαριστώ πολύ, καλό ταξίδι

I would like to take this opportunity to thank a very special Consular Officer. On Tuesday July 9 2019 my wife and I attended the offices of the Greek Consulate in Vancouver located at 688 West Hastings. Our attendance that morning was to acquire a travel visa. My wife having talked with a employee of the consular office previously thought we had all the required documents in order to obtain our extended travel visa. That morning we were greeted by an officer by the name of Anna Karamaroudis. It was immediately evident that Anna was the only staff on duty that day. The phones were ringing and other individuals were arriving at the offices requiring information and assistance. Ms Karamaoudis was amazing!!!! Not only did she manage all the telephone inquiries she also courteously assisted other patrons whilst assisting my wife and I navigate the paperwork and other formal documents that needed to be processed. My wife Heather and I would like to personally thank Ms Karamaoudis for her professionalism and caring manner in which she dealt with our application. Thank you. Nicholas and Heather

I would like to extend my gratitude towards Anna Karamaroudis from the Consulate General of Greece - Vancouver. I walked into the Consulate in Vancouver to book an urgent appointment for a travel visa to Greece. She was working alone in the office whilst her staff were on holiday. She was fully booked until September with visa appointments and had mentioned that if I came back later that day with all my documents then she would do whatever she could to help me with the visa application. I came back with all my documents and she assisted me. We talked about South Africa as I am South African and she lived there for years working for the Greek Consulate. It was such a surprise to see her working alone doing everything from answering the phone calls, answering the door to conducting the interviews for the visa applicants. Anna’s work ethic is admirable. She’s helpful, professional, friendly and has excellent customer service. Thank you again Anna for your top notch service. Sincerely, Michael

Had to come here to get citizenship for myself and my kids. Anna and the staff were wonderful to deal with especially since I didn't speak Greek. She made every effort to ensure I understood everything. After reading some other reviews all I can say is that you have to understand that things take time and you are not the only person they are dealing with and if they happen to be rude to you is probably because you went in with an attitude to begin with. You get what you give. Thank you very much Anna. See you soon for passports.

Excellent customer service from the minute i got there for my appointment. The consulate was respectful of my time and was ready for me even earlier then my set appointment as i got there a bit early. I dealt with consulate officer Hanna Karamaroudi and she patiently explained to me the intricacy of my issue, and allowed me to ask follow up questions, and finally she worked very hard to resolve my issue. Overall was very pleased with my experience with Hanna and the consulate in general Nick Moustakas Vancouver B.C.

Today my husband and I went into the Greek consulate to make an appointment for a national visa. We were surprised to see that Ms. Anna Karamaroudis was alone there, answering phones, assisting clients, and doing interviews. And all while being absolutely delightful to chat with. She was so lovely! She was extremely helpful to us and we feel assured that our time with her was the next step we need to get our national visa. Thank you, Anna, for such a wonderful experience today!

Ms.Adamantia was like how her name sounds. She was arrongant and unprofessional. She took my wife to the verge of breakdown over the phone showing no empathy whatsoever. Finally we had to go to the embassy for the help we needed. She started responding positively, immediately after we mailed the Greek embassy. Some people think they are equal to Gods when they have people coming to them for a visa.

I had a great experience with the consulate. I went there for a tourist visa. They went above and beyond to accommodate my situation. The officer Anna Karamaroudis was very understanding and professional towards my application. She also mentioned when I should expect to get my visa Everyone I met at the consulate was treated with utmost respect. I am eagerly looking forward to my trip!

Having been a frequent visitor at the consulate, i would like to say that i have had very good experiences. All the officers at the consulate were very helpful, respectful and willing to go the extra mile to assist me and my family. Even when i reach out to them over the phone or email - I was always able to get in touch with someone or gotten back to.

We had the best experience and interview at the Greek consulate in Vancouver. Thank you Mandy! (all the bad reviews posted in the webpage had me nervous before our interview) but I can assure you, they are very friendly, very helpful and true ambasadors for their country.

  • Jules Yap

It's a very far journey for me to get there but when i do it always feels like home. The women are always super helpful and get the tedious government work taken care of. They have helped me and my family become Greek citizens. We couldn't be more proud.

  • Nick Tsatsalmas

Excellent customer service. I've been there various times and they do their best to communicate all procedural requirements clearly and do their best to provide a solution for any issue. Pretty awesome, I don't understand why other reviews are lower.

  • Hamed Karimi

Super rude unprofessional staff specially the lady who seems to have higher position. Waited for an hour to just pick up the passport. Worst experience ever. They do not know what they are doing and always are shouting at each other.
