Very clean in my opinion. The quality of the bread is very good, but can be better. This is a very tight packed operation that is letting certain important details slip while others shine. Baking is one of the most difficult sciences to master, but with more time and attention this place could be huge! I'm often looking for traditional sourdough bread from local bakers, and this place has it! One of the toughest details to master in bread is the crust. I got the French Country Sourdough. Its crust was very crisp, which is typical of traditional sourdough, but not difficult to remedy. The problem comes when there isn't enough moisture during the cooking process. I've seen bakers that mist water onto their loaves every 5-15 minutes and that can solve this. Ideally you need to get the humidity very high in the oven when you cook bread like this. Which becomes the most difficult part of the process. The crust of the bread was not easy to chew, as others have pointed out. I also was very pleased with the traditional size macchiato. Many of my uncultured countrymen are used to Starbucks lattes being labeled as macchiato when in reality Italian macchiatos are very small servings. I had to get mine to go, and I felt it was a little light on the cream, or the froth wasn't dry enough. Espresso science is another key area this business can and probably will improve on. The first thing that hit me walking into Dozen Bakery for the first time was the vibrant atmosphere. On my second visit I made the observation that their countertops are real marble. Details like this matter more than you think. It's a testament to their attention to detail. Overall visiting here is a good experience with a wonderful atmosphere for a bakery competing with microwaved Starbucks products. The place has been packed both times I've been here, it is very popular and sometimes difficult to find seating. It is so popular that they were completely out of bread loaves the first time I came in. Which led to an awkward experience with the barista pointing to the empty shelves, not grasping that I had never been to the location before. I left empty handed, and I didn't let this experience define the business for me. four and a quarter stars, in my opinion. I hope to be back and try more of their products, and eventually see them become 5 stars. They're making real sourdough, not the enriched scrap they put on the shelves at Kroger. As far as I'm concerned they're doing the work of God!
3.5/5 I was there on a Sunday morning, was surprised with the line and hyped at the same time. Anyway, i waited around 10-15 minutes..there are tables outside and inside. You seat your self, if you find any. I wasn’t too hungry to try the brunch sandwiches, also i have noticed that the prices are a little bit on the high side. If you’re doing a brunch it’s going to be 10-20$ per person for sure. While 5-10$ for coffee and one piece of pastry. I tried Almond croissant, they ran out of plain ones, they also had bread and cookies. My croissant was covered with a lot of powdered sugar, not so flaky, the filling tasted so good though. To be honest the one in the display case looked larger and more flaky, :’D i’m being thorough because i was hyped for the best croissant in my life with long line and because the bakery is far from downtown. Anyway, worth the try if you’re around the area. I got cortado and it was decent. Additionally you will see a lot of merch while waiting in the line. Staff are courteous and helpful
I love dozen bakery. Everything — ESPECIALLY THE BREAD — is absolutely amazing. We had the eggs and butter on a split baguette, and while simple, was absolutely amazing! I love that the eggs are always soft scrambled and well seasoned. I also appreciate that the bread is tender enough that your teeth can easily tear the crust without you having to really work for it. All of their bread is fantastic. I bought a loaf to go it was so good. The chai wallah mix that they use is fantastic as well. The menu is small, but I think that’s it’s better for restaurants have only a few options that are all fantastic than have more choices and some aren’t as great. They have a decent number of vegetarian options, especially given their limited menu size. NOTE: if you come in late, they will run out of most items. If you have your heart set on a particular menu item, it’s best to get there earlier.
It was my first time in this place and it was a meh...for me! An hour parking is free, but if you are planning on staying longer, you definitely have to pay. The place is small, and there is barely any sitting area for a group of four. You have to get in line to order, the bake goods are open and you can see flys flying around. The creamer and sugar station were kind of messy and dirty. They only had whole milk and oat milk, nothing else. The only available sitting I found was close to the bathroom. It was a tiny table all wiggling, with dirty plates on it. I had to carry them to the area that you supposedly put them after eating. The flavor and portion size for price were not worthy for me. Staff was friendly. I'm just leaving my honest opinion for other people who are planning to visit.
A Coffee Shop that makes bread, not a Bakery. I made an hour and a half drive for a loaf of sourdough and I am disappointed. I bought a loaf of Olive Sourdough and a Baguette. After driving home and cutting a few slices I was disappointed by the similarity in taste between the Sourdoughand the Baguette. My suspicion is that the shop is using a hybrid recipe. That is to say the loaf was made with a mix of commercial yeast and wild yeast. I’m not a chef; but, I couldn’t taste any sour flavor in the sourdough. If you own and bake from “Flour Water Salt Yeast” by Ken Forkish I don’t recommend buying bread at this Coffee Shop, that is unless you want validation that yes you are probably baking the recipe the right way.
Gorgeous little Bakery located in Central/South Nashville. A beautiful interior with plenty of seating inside and several tables outside for when the sun is shining. They sell a large selection of freshly baked breads, sourdoughs, pastries and pies - all made on premises. The staff were incredibly friendly and very eager to help and answer questions. They also serve breakfast/brunch sandwiches and a great selection of coffees. I highly recommend their scrambled egg, bacon, tomato and pesto sandwich, served on fresh sourdough! Fantastic experience and one of our new favorite places to get breakfast and great coffee in Nashville. Absolute hidden gem.
My mom moved to the U.S. from France when she was in her late 20s and I grew up with homemade fresh bread weekly. Dozen does a great job with their baked goods. They clearly have spent time perfecting their recipes and it shows. I haven't had a single thing there that I didn't enjoy thoroughly. Oh, one time I went there shortly before Christmas and one of the employees gave me two of the poinsettias which was very kind. The only thing I would change about it if it were any of my business would be the flow of the place could be a little better but even that is a nit pick! I love this place and find myself there fairly frequently.
I've been here a couple of times for coffee and to work. I was finally able to try a breakfast sandwich, and wow! The bread is fresh daily and looks quite tasty on the shelves. When I bit into the bread of my sandwich, I was floored. Just like grandma made at home. Come to this place for the food and coffee, but not the service. I don't think I've dealt with a friendly person at this place yet.

Not only is the sourdough fantastic, they also make a delicious focaccia (just had an olive and fresh garlic one that was to die for), and some great baked goods. But the real winners here are the egg in a hole that is served during the weekends, and the heirloom tomato tartine that is sadly just seasonal, so get it while you can! The pistachio butter on there is stupid good and the tomatoes taste like they picked them off the tree as you were ordering. There is often a line so be sure to plan for that, but the food is more than worth it, and parking is free for the first hour.
The Dozen Bakery is a must try if you live in Nashville! They sell fresh baked breads and an assortment of delectable baked goods. If you want to avoid the lines I suggest getting there close to when they open. I highly recommend the scones. I was not a fan of scones and then I tried the cherry cornmeal scone and was amazed by how soft and tasty it was. They also sell coffee/lattes and food. This is a great place for a breakfast date or a new addition to your weekend routine. You must try their bread. If you do you will never buy bread from the store again!
Mixed review. We are in the area for 3 months looking for a classic bakery. We started out with coffee and croissants. The croissants were over baked, and dense. No honey comb pattern, no flaky layers. Nothing special. Could be an off day. So we decided to try the Trout Salad on a Baguette. Redemption! The sandwich was excellent. The baguette was perfect. Crust color perfect, creamy color inside and lots of bubbles inside. Had a fabulous flavor and enhanced the flavor of trout/apples .....we will be back to try some other interesting items on the menu.
This is my favorite bakery in Nashville now. I was missing my sourdough based bakery from my hometown and had been looking for one in Nashville that comes close. I found Dozen at one point but didn’t save it and then couldn’t find it again until a few weeks ago when my friend suggested it. When I realized what it was I got SO excited. I got a blueberry chess pie slice (best chess pie I’ve ever had yet and the crust was perfectly flaky but crunchy), umami sourdough loaf (also incredible), and some very kind service. Can’t wait to go back and have more.
This is my favorite bakery in Nashville. The staff is always kind and patient, even when it's busy. I ordered a chocolate pie for a holiday gathering and it was the most-loved dessert. Dozen is just the BEST.

We came here because my kids received some coupons for their library reading program. Hayley congratulated them and was patient with us as they were deciding. She was so generous spirited when I had to come though the line again to get something for myself, and I did not feel rushed. We have some sensory needs in our family, and we were met with patience and understanding. It was obvious that we weren’t normal frequenters of this place, but we were treated so kindly. We had a great experience and the baked goods are delicious!
Honestly my favorite place in Nashville. I moved out of state over a year ago and still think about this place. The baguette, breads, pastries, and service are unparalleled. Recently on a short trip back to Nashville, I was helped by Drew over the phone to make a preorder for some treats to being back to my new home. I can’t say enough how helpful and amazing Drew was helping me get my order in and making sure I wouldn’t fly away without some amazing sweets to share. Thank you Drew!!! And thank you Dozen Bakery for be so Rad!
Delicious, fresh bread, pastries, salads & sandwiches!! We visited twice and two days on our weekend visit to Nashville. Everything we had, we’d order again, hands down. The drip coffee from Crema was on point as well. Although we took everything to go, Dozen Bakery’s space is charming and peaceful. The team is hard-working, kind and courteous, which clearly adds to the vibe. PS. Free parking next to the bakery is a plus, but be ready to wait in line for the goodness, which is made easier by the baller playlist.
Couldn’t rate this place highly enough! It’s an excellent bakery and coffee shop; visiting Nashville, stayed close by and Dozen really made the area worthwhile (West Houston is a bit sparsely serviced still) Went most mornings and tried pretty much everything I could, the bread is fantastic, (some of the best I’ve had in the States) and same for the pastries. Good batch brew coffee & slices of pie to boot. Gets busy but mainly with folk taking baked goods away, so was a good spot to sit and do some work too!
Stopped at Dozen as soon as we got into Nashville from Indianapolis. There was construction nearby, so we were a little confused on how to access the bakery, but an officer was in the street and directed us to the nearby parking lot. When we walked in we were greeted, grabbed a menu and then got in line. Our food came out fast and was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place for breakfast, lunch, coffee, or a quick snack. It also seems like a great meeting and work place for locals.
Loved their chocolate croissants (I also tried the raspberry one). I also loved the sesame honey focaccia. Overall their pastries are delicious, although I wasn’t partial to their tomato and corn galette (crust too dense and not enough flavor) or their almond croissant (extract heavy/almonds not toasted enough/not enough of the frangipane that I like). I would come back to get a baguette and other lunch items since everything looks really good. Coffee was great too. I recommend for a stop.
It is a must! The croissants are perfection. The pies are perfection. Blueberry chess is my fav. The selections are seasonal. The pie crusts are perfection. The holiday offerings are always special. This year my family enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding and the gingerbread. Cookies are an everyday blessing. Cranberry walnut is my current fav. The breakfast sandwich is amazing. I love everything about this bakery. They really stepped up during COVID and made it work for their customers.
Surely one of the best bakeries in the south, and a great spot for breakfast. I could truly throw a dart at the menu and be happy. Fresh breads and pastries that are top notch. Serve fresh quality coffee as well.

This is the best bakery I have been to in Nashville, I had bauguette with butter, jam and scrumbled eggs, everything was fresh, delicious and look to be made from scratch. They use Crema's coffee, which is again one of the best coffee in Nashville. Service was friendly, not super fast, which is very normal for boutique cafe bakeries. Bravo Dozen Bakery!

Love coming here when we visit our daughter. Great baguette sandwiches! Tried their eggplant veggie and it was delicious too. Their crema mocha is fantastic! But most of all I LOVE their desserts especially their lemon lavender pie & chocolate pie!!! Their cookies and other sweet treats are wonderful too. Sometimes they run out of my fav which reminds me to get there earlier next time!?!? Staff is friendly. Cute place. Also has tables outside. Enjoy!!!
Dozen is the best breakfast sandwich in Nashville. The flavor, the crunch of the crust, but softness of the bread, *chef’s kiss*. Get there early, there will always be a line (but it’s usually a line of locals). It’s seasonal but the sweet potato latte is delish too. The focaccia breakfast sandwich is also great, but IMO the egg sandwich with Benton’s bacon is the best. You can’t really go wrong.
Cute bakery, good coffee, had a few different pastries and bought some bread for the week. Would like to try again when we have some more time to get food. It was very busy on a Saturday morning about 10am. I think we just hit the rush because it calmed waaay down just as we were finishing our coffees. There's 1 hour free parking in the gravel lot next door which is convenient too.
Dozen Baker is, hands down, one of the best bakeries in Nashville. All of the pastries and bread are made daily so, even when they're not heated, they're fresh and delicious. If you go, I highly recommend the herb, parmesan cheese, and onion croissant, literally one of the best things I've ever eaten. Plus, parking for the first hour is free so what's not to love about that.
We went here several months ago and over two hours before close they were out of almost everything. There was no sense of urgency in the workers even though there was a line out the door. I understand treating your workers well and ensuring their happiness, however it came at the cost of at least decent service. It came as a shame considering how highly rated this was.
Busy Friday afternoon with every seat packed. It took 10 or so minutes to get a table. Service was pleasant. Ordered an egg sandwich. It was average. The egg was over salted and there wasn’t as much tomato as I would have preferred. Avocado was pretty tasty. I wouldn’t order it again, but would try something else on the menu as the food visually looks good.
High quality stuff coming out of this bakery that seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. I’m sure when I come back in a couple of years this will be in the heart of newly developed neighborhood. Loved the focaccia and chicken salad (country style - slightly sweet). Pecan bar was great also. If I was a local this is where I’d be getting my baguettes.
This place is the best. If you are local or visiting I highly recommend it. During our visit we tried pretty much all the baked goods available. The pecan bar and rhubarb orange pie were the highlights for my taste. The breakfast options were savory and delightful. Something for everyone is available even for the picky eaters and small kids.
One of my favorite cafes in Nashville! A hidden gem in the city, though still relatively close to familiar areas like Vanderbilt. Their coffee (drip, iced, etc) tastes really good and they offer free refills on iced coffee (a lot of places don’t). Each food item I’ve tried thus far is also super tasty… give the chicken salad a try!
Absolutely delightful bakery! Fresh bread is fantastic. Pastries are sublime. The sandwiches are creative and filling. Their pies are the perfect balance of texture and substance (so far, the coffee toffee is my favorite). The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. If you're in Nashville, this really is a must-stop location.
This is a very cute place in an up and coming area of town. My lunch was tasty but the tartine was just a thin slice of bread with a few ingredients on top. The small salad was also delicious, but my stomach was growling 90 mins later. I will definitely go back again, but order something with protein in it!
I am a fan of this place everything is amazing. I always receive wonderful service I haven't tried anything that they have that isn't good they now have coffee the coffee menu is really good this place is as consistent as It Gets and they serve a lot of the coffee shops in the Nashville community.
Dozen is probably in my top 5 favorite places to go in Nashville when I’m home. Get the split baguette with avocado and eggs, or the breakfast sandwich which is AMAZING. I took off a star because my drip coffee was super acidic, almost sour tasting. I’ll go with an espresso drink next time!
Been going to Dozens for years. Simple bakery and brunch spot in the WeHo district. Hate that it’s so busy these days but food and options have only become better over time. Definitely pick up loaves from here if you can get there or around there during the week. It’s completely worth it.
We absolutely loved this place. The food was absolutely amazing and the workers were very friendly. Their coffee is good but their baked goods were what we loved. I love their chocolate croissants and their sourdough bread was out of this world. Definitely recommend for food lovers.
Liked the croissants, coffee. The sandwich was a let down, didn’t expect the precooked egg in it. Expected fresh scrambled eggs, may be i didn’t read the description properly. Took a multi grain sourdough bread, too sour compared to the regular sourdough dough but still tasty.
This place lives up to the 5 star reviews. Everything I tried from the melt in your mouth so soft sourdough bread . To the scones and cookies left me wanting more. Can’t wait to go back and try more on the menu . The service is phenomenal and they are so nice .
Stumbled across Dozen Bakery while recently in Nashville. It's out of the way tucked in a developing area but worth a drive. Excellent backed goods and coffee. We had some breakfast sandwiches and hot drinks. The Machiato was perfect!
This place was delicious! Great service, amazing food, and delicious pies. The only thing bad I'd say about this place is that there is usually a big line, especially on Saturdays. Besides that, I'd rate this place 5 stars. Totally
Love Dozen so much — my favorite bakery in Nashville! I ended up having a selection of Dozen pastries at my wedding, and they were eaten very quickly by our guests. Special shout out to the egg sandwich and chocolate honey galette.
This bakery was one of the HIGHLIGHTS to our trip to Nashville! Our sandwich & pastries were top tier. Go out of your way for Dozen — you won’t regret it. (Just be sure to get there early before they run out of blueberry muffins!)
I honestly regret the day I discovered Dozen because my paychecks have steadily been going toward their heavenly almond croissants. Also the best breakfast sandwich I have EVER had. Please never leave me Dozen.
Best almond croissant I have probably ever had. The line is worth it and moves very quickly. I will definitely have to come back to try some of their pies! Free street parking and paid lot parking available.
Quiche and salad was tasty. I enjoyed the flaky and soft crust. I just wish I had more of a bigger slice and side salad. The location of the Bakery is in the middle of nowhere, still it's a cute little spot.
First time for me, parking is not free, only 5 tables with 2 chairs each. Bread ok, but the sweet bread (pastry) with flys around employees seems like they don’t care, definitely I’m not coming back. …
I had an amazing sourdough sandwich. The bread was so soft and fresh, with a nice chewy crust. The sauce and fresh herbs on it made this an exceptional sourdough experience. Would definitely recommend.
Visiting Nashville for the first time. Bakery goods were so delicious! My favorite was the blueberry lime croissant!! There was a line almost out the door when I went. Definitely worth the wait!
Really good pastries. They have absolutely nailed the flaky croissants which are a perfect balance of texture and butter flavor. The coffee is also good, but the baked goods are where it's at.
This place is busy but for good reason! The bread and pastries are incredible! Thankful for folks that put so much love into their craft. The customer service is also top notch! More
Great bakery! The breads are TO DIE for! I also love the cookies and muffins :) 4 stars because it could be hard to find a chair and the wait can get long at some time of the week!
Popular and pleasant! Gave me a great recommendation on which loaf to try. Also enjoyed a cornmeal cherry scone that was just the right amount of texture and crumbly and sweetness.
SUPERB! Very calm, lovely staff and ample seating. Sandwiches and coffee was great (they serve Crema Coffee). Great spot for hanging out, Wi-Fi was good & outlets near tables.
Delicious little bakery w true sourdough - they are even happy to give away a piece of their starter. The croissants were to die for.. well actually everything was - SO good!
Atmosphere was great. Relaxed vibe and good place to work or study. Parking is a little tough but beyond that the food was good and coffee, served via Crema, was phenomenal.
The focaccia egg sandwich is phenomenal, and honestly so far all the pastries and pies we’ve tried have been fantastic too. A great bakery and must visit when in Nashville.
Amazing bakery for Sunday brunch. Best croissant in 100 miles radius. Best breakfast sandwiches. Nice bright atmosphere in an almost forgotten industrial area of Nashville.
Best bakery in Nashville! The apple and pumpkin pies we bought here were the best part of our Thanksgiving dinner!

The lemon bar croissant was delicious, and I also loved the pecan bar. The baguette was really good, and the bacon cheddar scone was solid.
Delicious pastries and sandwiches! Everything was amazing and the butter inside the almond croissant was especially incredible.
Perfect place to enjoy a freshly-baked loaf of bread with coffee! They have starter kits if you want to bake your own at home.
Salad & Egg Sandwich DELICIOUS NOTE: They close at 2pm NOTE: You'll likely have to pay for parking Highly recommend
Great and Fresh Baked goods, Crema Coffee, and in house bread with eggs are everything you need for a breakfast or brunch.

This place can fight back against the allegation I heard that “Americans can’t bake quality breads!”
