Went to see Lola (2022) here. The movie is a masterpiece. I found the movie very interesting and engaging. It was my first visit to The Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield. The Luas is a stones throw away from the cinema itself. The reason for my visit is that it appears that this particular movie was only being shown in Dublin, so I went to this film as I was in the area at this time. We were able to have an alcoholic beverage in a bar within the cinema itself. It makes for a nice intimate setting, perfect if you are dating somebody. Music plays in the background. Or also suited to meeting with friends. Nice comfy couches and fairy lighting. A number of movies were being shown. There are elevators in the cinema and the screens are underground. Very clean and tidy. Nice restrooms. You can buy food and drink from the shop, or a beverage from the bar and take it in with you to the screen itself. Nice, approachable staff. There is a notification prior to the screening of the movie to turn off or put phones on silent and advising to be respectful of other cinemagoers within your screen. This is very important to advise everybody. IFCO classification applies, states age, age may be lowered if the said child is accompanied by an adult guardian. Sufficient sound. Suitable dimmed lighting. The only thing I did not like was that a trailer for a horror was shown prior to my chosen movie. Apart from that unique occurrence, I would highly recommend a visit to this cinema if nearby. The cinema shows movies that may not be available in areas outside of Dublin. It is the perfect spot to go, if looking to kill some time prior to a planned visit to the 3Arena.

The Lighthouse is the best place in Dublin to watch films with people who love the cinema. The Lighthouse has something for everyone, whether you're watching a Barbenheimer blockbuster, reliving schlocky classics like Total Recall, or experiencing hidden gems like Miracle Mile for the first time through Hollywood Babylon. As more pieces are written about how phones have contributed to the decline of cinema etiquette, it's brilliant that you seldom see phone lights at a cinema called the Lighthouse. It is a testament to the cinema that alcohol can be purchased and consumed during screenings and exemplary etiquette persists. The staff are lovely and knowledgable, the atmosphere is pleasant and the programme is magic. I've always said I would pay more for a peaceful cinema trip but I don't have to, I just have to take a trip out to Smithfield to visit the Lighthouse. PS: Would love to go to another Red Room screening of Fire Walk with Me. It was excellent.

Along with IFI in Temple Bar, this is one of my favourite places to watch a movie in Dublin. Never crowded and only a few minutes walk from the LUAS stop in Smithfield. Tickets can be booked online or at the door. They have very fair prices for weekdays and students, and offer a loyalty program. Seats are unassigned. I’ve never had a problem finding a spot but if you’re very fussy about where you sit you might want to show up 15min early to get the best seats. The cafe serves snacks, food and drinks and are good value compared to many other places. There’s also a Fresh store around the corner if you need to grab something for your movie.

I was there mainly because of the DIFF and I was pleasantly surprised to see how amazing the whole place was. I loved the cozy seating areas that were at the stairs with beanie bags. Of course, I was short of time but as far as I've seen it was all great! The facilities were clean and tidy. I thought the segregated bin was terrific idea and environmentally responsible too. I loved that bottles of drinks were allowed inside the screens, which meant that less need for use of plastic cups, less trash, hence, better for the environment. Staffs were helpful and friendly. I would definitely come back some other time.

An excellent cinema that manages to offer both popcorn and arthouse films to suit most tastes. Located within Smithfield, the screens are strangely subterranean as you have to descend to attend. There is a bar area where you either wait for the film to begin or discuss it afterwards. Seats are plush and angled back so comfort is easily achieved. My personal favourite is the numbering system for the seats. It's a brightly lit number set on the stairs where other cinemas in Dublin decide they want to give you a challenge.

The Light House Cinema is a very good combo. You can pick up your tickets (bought online) with a very friendly staff (or on automated machines if you don't want to talk to anyone :P ) at the lobby entrance, you can then relax before your movie at a nice cafe, and then go to your screen to enjoy the movie. The screens are of nice size (Screen 4, which is one of the smallest is cosy enough), seats are very comfy and audio system is great. Other customers are usually very respectful. Highly recommended! :)

Had a really good experience here, I was here for a 13 hour long event, Lord of the Rings Marathon, Extended Editions. There was a good selection of food and drinks, alcohol included, there were good deals on and nothing was overly expensive like you'd see from other Cinemas. The cinema was kept clean and tidy, toilets were always usable and never found them dirty or stinking. All of the staff were nice and friendly, and the seats, the seats were really comfy. I'd definitely come back again.

My family & I went to see Barbie the Movie. I loved the movie. I was not so impressed with the spillage of a sticky drink just under my seat. I have mobility issues and had to be extremely careful not to slip and fall. There was no disabled toilet that i could find and the screen each film was playing in was not obvious. We had to go up & down in the lift to check out which screen we needed. I would have really appreciated a person telling us which screen & where when we walked in the door.

This is not a mainstream cinema, which makes it perfect! It's small - perhaps 4 screens? It showscases special films and often hosts marathons and events for different fan bases. It has a colourful interior, it's always clean and the staff is always friendly. I genuinely enjoy this cinema every time I have visited. Bonus: there's a Boojoms, Chopped and a big Fresh, as well as pizza restaurant next to the cinema.

  • Saira J. Barlas

Cute little cinema with a cafe and various screens. The chairs are comfy and the place is never too crowded. I decided to watch the latest Batman here and it was great and smooth! I booked tickets online and was able to retrieve them when I got to the venue. The cafe serves selection of sweet and savoury as well as sodas. I’ll revisit this place for more viewings as it’s in the heart of Smithfield!

  • sam

the actual cinema is comfortable but i had left one of my belongings by accident and when i went back to retrieve it they had just closed and told me to come back the next day. when i had returned and asked for my item, they said it didn’t turn up. my issue is that if they had quickly let me back into the cinema i would’ve retrieved what i had forgotten instead of it being thrown away or taken.

  • Lucy MooreFox

We got out of the habit of going to the cinema during Covid. It is great to be back! I saw several documentary films there recently, prior to their release on Netflix. Such a better experience to see them on the big screen! The Lighthouse has a great little café as well. There is underground car parking but it's quite expensive. The Red LuS stops nearby & there is secure parking for bicycles.

  • James Coghlan

Easily the best cinema in Dublin. The interior, cafe, bar, screens, seats etc are all in a league of their own. I will often make the hour journey into here rather than 10 minutes to my local cinema. The staff are all very nice and the moviegoers here are all very respectable, never seems to anyone talking or on phones. Perfect balance between new films and old favourites/classics.

  • Stan Giles

Went in afternoon, 4 pm, was very mellow and clean. Staff helpful as couldn't get e ticket to come thru as in underground. It was 2 floors down, which was tough leaving, but plenty of seats next to stairs, good railing. I'm disabled have a tough time getting up that many stairs. Theatre was clean, comfortable , great view of screen , good cup holders. Patrons were polite and quiet.

  • Vitezslav Otruba

Best cinema I have seen in Dublin so far and I tried lots :-D. Unlike the others, this one is clean, modern, has good food and drink options. The screen is good quality and picture seemed to be 4K. Some other cinemas have 2K only and picture gets blurry. Here all great including audio. The area is also very nice with lots of restaurants and bars.

  • Coke Orellana Espinoza (Coke Geo)

Great cinema. It's fancy, beautiful, spacious, it has a great cafe with an amazing staff, iced lattes, wine and sessions for babies (BYOB - bring your own baby) We enjoyed a movie this morning with our 2 weeks old baby and it was amazing. Super recommended for parents. We're already planning next week ❤️ Happy maternity/paternity leave.

  • Karolina Schvartz

Amazing place that l just discovered, even films.at 23:00 what's is great for busy people with kids. Perfectly designed, full of eye catching details. Perfect size of screens and different movie theaters, comfortable seats. Beside and most of all selection of movies that are not the most commercial but you can see there a quality movies .

  • Lady Vader

Could be the nicest cinema I have ever been to. Great selection of independet and high budget movies, cult classics and events paired with spacious and clean interior, respectful guests (!), good sound and audio quality, friendly staff, decent prices, good drinks and it is never packed to the max. How could you *possibly* improve this??

  • Impossabear

Cinema rooms are smaller than IMAX or dundrum cinema, however the seats are very good, instead of booking your seats you sit wherever you want. The selection of movies here are great with anime movies normally showing here if that's what you're interested in. Prices aren't bad and it's really quick to buy tickets and be inside

  • Jordan Kevin Magtaan

Lovely staff, excellent location and wonderfully modern cinema equipped with a bar and a café. The popcorn tastes great too. More importantly, the seats in the movie theatre were super comfortable, the screens were clear and the sound system was brilliant, fully immersing viewers in the world of the film they’re watching.

  • María Florencia Balbi

Beautiful entrance hall. The sound and video was perfect, comfortable seats and not too crowded rooms. The cinema offers a variety of prices according to time of the day and for students and children. It also has a bar and places to seat and wait for the rooms to open. I would definitely choose this as my regular cinema.

  • Mark Sheerin

Lovely cinema, great seats, and you can grab a beer or glass of wine to enjoy while you watch your film. Nice coffee shop as well but give the popcorn a miss. It's preboxed rather than fresh from a machine and is stale and chewy. Loses a star for lack of fresh popcorn crunchiness. The least you should get for €4.

  • Gerry Baker

Great spot for those interested in actually watching a movie as opposed to the run of the mill dives which are plagued with people having full blown conversations on their phones or watching TikTok while the movie is on. Staff were great and genuine effort made to make the movie going experience enjoyable

  • Mario Luis Saldanha Santos

This spot is stunning, special and has a lovely atmosphere since from the entrance to cine rooms. Seats are very comfortable and screen is pretty much big with a quality stereo sound. Absolutely fascinated for this spot and I highly recommend for everyone. I will for sure come there often.

  • Wayne

Great independent cinema that shows a mix of big Hollywood movies and smaller indie movies. It shows international movies and runs seasons of particular directors of actors. Great cafe, a well stocked bar and lots of seating areas outside the screens to have a pre or post movie chat.

  • Dean Byrne

This cinema is fantastic. It is clean, comfortable and an overall joy to be in. The screens and sound quality are great. The events are also awesome - with movie premieres with celebs, movie marathons, and seasonal movies for everyone to enjoy. Definitely recommend anyone to go here!

  • Not Noodle

It is a very nice cinema. Every seat feels premium, the screen is great and the audio is perfect too. The waiting areas are very good too, nice and comfy sofas and chairs. My biggest gripe is that you are not given a seat number for where to sit. It is first come, first serve.

  • silvana benedetto

One of the best cinemas you can find in Dublin, always with an absolutely brilliant program and a very comfortable lobby and café open to the public. In the heart of vibrant Smithfield Square, 1 minute walk from the Luas stop, where you can find several pubs and restaurants.

  • Eoin Gleeson

One of my favourite places in Dublin. A cinema with huge character, comfort and incredibly friendly staff. Props to the projectionist and programme coordinator for screening incredible restorations and generally having a great programme at the cinema. Nice popcorn too …

  • Martin K

Lovely cinema, with really nice interior design, comfy seats, good screen and sound. Cinema has a bar so you get to enjoy the movies with your favorite drink! Love the loads of different screening types. Last one being The Dark Knight 10 anniversary screening.

  • Paul Sheehan

Good place to catch movies that may not be on general release. Has turned nights throughout the month as well, most recently I caught a Bruce Lee classic during their 'Grindhouse' night. You can also buy alcohol and drink it during your show as well

  • Glen Meagher

Fantastic cinema cannot recommend enough. They have showings of indie movies and quite niche viewings like some anime movies or other non Hollywood pictures. They sell alcohol if you want a few drinks too and the atmosphere overall is very chill.

  • Joseph O'Brien

Great spot to see some different movies that you wont find in other cinemas. It's worth booking your ticket in advance as it can be really busy. Easy to travel to as it is only a few mins walk from the smithfield stop on the luas red line. 10/10

  • Karen Kearney

Really funky, contemporarily decorated cinema. Lots of areas to hang out before and after a movie. The cinema auditoriums are all below ground level but they provide really comfortable seating and a fantastic cinema experience. Love going here!

  • seanino909

This is by far the best cinema in Dublin. It craps all over the IFI, which is it's only real competitor in terms of the type of film they screen. Really nice spacious decor with oak wooden floors throughout and multi-coloured seating in the

  • Katie Neville

Used to be the most fabulous cinema in Dublin. New unreserved seating booking system & high ticket prices compared to say Vue cinemas at the minute make it hard to justify. Lovely atmosphere though & reasonable Dublin prices for bevvies

  • Sandra Lewis

This is one of my happy places. Always a great film schedule, very reasonably priced tickets, food and snacks. Great film seasons. A good number of premieres and directorial Q&A showings, as well as theatre, opera and ballet showings.

  • Shane Barr

The Light House Cinema is my favourite cinema in Dublin! It has such charm, lovely staff and the selection of films is always fantastic. They have new blockbusters, niche indie films and a great selection of reruns and cult classics.

  • Alan

Cinema seems fine, but weird and artsy. The onlt negative is the all around weird atmosphere around ur. Between college students and homeless people it doesn't make for the most enjoyable experience. Other then that it's good though

  • Botond Molnar

Absolute favourite cinema in Dublin. Great movies and movie premier, old and new movies, celebrities comfortable seats and sometimes only a few people in the rooms so it feels like the whole cinema is yours. Highly recommended …

  • Daniel

I would say It has comfortable seats and a huge screen and a great sound system. But the place is really small and can get congested with not so many people. I guess people go to watch there because it's a historical place.

  • Chinmay Sahasrabudhe

We had a private show for our community in Ireland . The place is best for Private show. Great Screen size to select as per number of attendees. Very good Staff both technical and admin . Best place for cinema in Dublin.

  • Ciara Cady

Such a great cinema. Its like a hidden gem. Not too crowded and great for a family cinema trip. Getting drinks in a can rather than a cup is so handy. The range of films is excellent. The inside is lovely and colourful

  • Laura O'D

Amazing. I spent the day in the Light House on Saturday watching their Twilight marathon and it was fantastic. The themed cocktails were delicious and the staff were so friendly. I would definitely recommend it.

  • Olga Zograf

Great cinema :) minimalistically stylish and spacious, which I wasn’t expecting to find in Dublin. Apart from usual mass movies, they often show very niche ones and in local languages (subbed in English)

  • Noel Carroll

Our favourite cinema in Dublin. It's a beautiful cinema with loads of great restaurants and bars outside. They always show great and unusual movies too. Definitely a place for real movie lovers. Love it.

We truly enjoyed our visit to The Light House. It is a beautiful venue with plenty of open space, a lovely cafe and the movie, "So this is Christmas' was great. I am looking forward to our next visit.

  • Karen O'Reardon

Lovely, comfortable cinema with coffee shop and bar inside. Showing a range of movies, not just 'Hollywood blockbusters' thankfully. Staff are great and it's always spotless, no sticky floors here.

  • Josh Henvey

Went to see Oppenheimer here a few weeks ago. The snacks and prices were great value but the actual cinema house was quite crowded with very little room and it did get quite warm by the end of it.

  • Aaron

Very cool cinema, in a nice spot with a great selection of movies, that other cinemas wouldn't show. Also very friendly staff and great atmosphere and cool things to look at before the screening.

  • Konnie J

Very spacious. Great decor. Very funky looking. There were no seat numbers but it was OK. I had noone sitting to my left, so plenty of space. Only unisex toilet and shared sink. Not for everyone.

  • Lee Corr

Forever grateful for this cinema for giving me a chance to watch my favourite films on the big screen. Watching Blade Runner while having a flat white has been a year highlight for me. ☕

  • Christine Okelly

Lovely venue. But very cold theatre on last visit. Great place to catch old movies and really enjoyed "a matter of life and death" on a recent visit but cinema was uncomfortably cold

  • Jak Whitfield

A very friendly cinema with a great selection of rare, popular and international films. Their loyalty schemes are worth joining and their special events are broad and thoughtful

Nicely decorated cinema and cafe inside too. Tickets can cost around 13 euro. There were no seat numbers so make sure to go earlier. The room was clean and staff was friendly

Just in from National theatre live. The cinema was packed, and I have zero confidence that health and safety is being respected. There was no evidence of ventilation,

Beautiful.. but cinema in Dublin is so expensive with no reason.. 15 Euros to watch a 2018 movie doesn't make any sense.
