They do accept legal tender. Our cash is no good card payment only. Lots of people do not have credit cards revolout etc. It discrimination. Give you something to think about. Why should we pay cash everywhere with banknotes instead of a card? - I have a €50 banknote in my pocket. I go to a restaurant and paying for dinner with it. The restaurant owner then uses the note to pay for the laundry. The laundry owner then uses the note to pay the barber. The barber will then use the note for shopping. After an unlimited number of payments, it will still remain a €50, which has fulfilled its purpose to everyone who used it for payment and the bank has jumped dry from every cash payment transaction made.. - But if I come to a restaurant and pay for dinner digitally - Card bank fees for my payment transaction charged to the seller are 3%, so around €1.50 and so the fee will be €1.50 for each further payment transaction or owner re laundry or payments of the owner of the laundry shop, or payments of the barber etc..... Therefore, after 30 transactions, the initial €50 will remain only €5 and the remaining €45 became the property of the bank thanks to all digital transactions and fees. PS: it’s now 4 months since I used my card and I love it. More human interactions, more questions, more conversations about why cash needs to be everyone’s priority. No one needs to know where I shop, how much I spend and what I buy ‍♀️. I am not okay with a digital currency - no way

I went there on the frist day after the restrictions were lifted. Was really excited to see the horror film: Conjuring-Devil made me do it. The cinema was clean and all they had sanitizers and other protective restrictions to avoid the spread of Covid 19. They did an excellent job there but the movie quality was worse than the virus itself. I was seated in Screen 4 and that hall/screen is so small that the exit sign is literally on the screen. I get that it is an essential thing from. the point of view of health and safety to gave exits lit up, but I couldn't see anything on the bottom left half of the screen. And as it was a horror movie most of the scenes were dark so the affected area was well lit till the middle of the screen. I could just see the faded green colour in the scary parts or the jumoscares. Apart from the light rhat almost took half of the mini cinema screen was the dull projector! the light was soo dull that even the day scenes looked like they were shot in the evening. I can definitely say that because I had to go home, and watch it on HBO max. Not a good experience, the halls and corridors looks nice since its an old cinema. so I'd recommend to buy a ticket and stay and walk around for the old architecture and small stairs.

This was once the most prestigious cinema in Ireland. Its now a pale shadow of its former self and a complete annoyance to go to. Once bought by IMC it was hacked up into as many cinemas as they could possibly fit into it in a blind race to look and feel like every other bland cinema out there. Theres no more experience here. Well, there is but its not a good one. Whats the point in getting a QR code for a ticket if they must print it off for you to gain access anyway? Hardly any stock in the shop, the sound was poor, no real sub bass, either the screen or the glass up at the projector was dirty so you could see dirt marks on the screen when watching which was really distracting. All in all thats the last time I'll visit here and I'm disappointed as going to screen one in its glory was a real treat.

Today 30 minutes into watching the new hunger games movie, the screen froze. An employee rushed in to tell us that they were closing and we needed to evacuate because riots outside the building had gotten out of hand. The front of the cinema has been shuttered and we were ushered quickly and efficiently out of the back entrance of the theatre. I really have to give credit to the professionalism of the workers during this really bizarre and frankly dangerous situation. They were clear, communicative and couldn't have handled it better. I just hope we'll be able to finish the movie soon since we were just getting to the good part!

Very bad experience for..... something that pretend to be a cinema. The room is very small, like a living room. A claustrofobic person would not be able to stay there The screen is very small, as the room is very small. Similar size of the projector your friend uses to watch some football matches. The sits are more or less on the same level, hence who sits in front of you covers part of your screen. On top of this, the light of the emergency exit makes all the room shining, it is not dark! But what is the price for this experience? 11€ Yes, you get it right. It is 11€ Embarrassing.

Today, you could say it was in fact a "crazy thursday". While watching the new hunger games movie, the movie was paused and cut short due to increased unrest during the Dublin Riots. Despite this, the staff were very quick with informing us with the situation and promptly escorted us out through the back exit. I was very impressed and grateful for the staff's efforts as this sort of situation (if I were to guess) happens on very rare occasions. Will be going back to hopefully finish the movie.

Went to screen 8 which is a small theatre with "lazy boy" seats. I've never seen a cinema with a worse picture! The projector looks like 720p with terrible contrast. Also the screen is dirty and the projector is tilted. You would have a far better movie experience with a decent TV at home! Also the "theatre" is unbearably hot with no AC. I would never come here again. Trying to find someone to leave feedback on the way out, a member of staff said everyone tries to complain..

Cinema is nice and I have been here many times before. However the volume of the advertisements blasted the ears of me and my friend. I went down to the desk and in fairness the staff were nice and agreed without hassle to turn it down. It was still quite loud but once the film started the volume was completely acceptable. However I do still have a pain in my ears after the initial aural assault and I really don’t think it was acceptable.

Me, a lonely tourist, walking past the Spire, not knowing what to do next, when it smiles at me, the Savoy Cinema, I don't let myself be asked twice by its radiant beauty and enter. To my delight it's Wednesday and I get a free popcorn and drink, today must be my lucky day. So I watch a wonderful film in a cosy auditorium, eat my far too salty but still tasty popcorn and my evening couldn't be better. Thanks for the lovely experience <3

I went here with my very dear friend on the 26th of November to see Napoleon. The sound quality in the theatre was excellent and the picture quality on the screen was likewise top notch. The seating was comfortable enough, but since the movie was quite long the seats did start to feel somewhat hard. In terms of the temperature in the theatre it was neither too cold or too hot,it was just nice. Overall an enjoyable experience.

The Savoy now more expensive than Cineworld (+ online booking fee) for a worse experience. The QR code emailed to you cannot be scanned at the entrance, as staff isn't equipped with scanners - you have to queue at the snackbar and get a paper ticket printed. Moreover, some of the rooms are skewed and the seats and projector aren't facing the screen. As a consequence, the picture is not straight as you can see in the photo.

It’s exactly what you expect - it’s a huge cinema that has sadly felt the effect of time as the facilities need a bit of an upgrade and upkeep. But the food deals were cheap and good and seats were super comfy and the actual cinema has really good surround sound and huge screens. My partner and I went to see the new Jurassic World film (great movie definitely go see it - ignore the critics) and had a great experience

The prices were compared to DACH standards of the cinema group; mediocre. The resolution of the screen is 720p versus 4K in dedicated DACH cinemas. The employees are really kind and caring. However, as on cinema experience the resolution is more important. I'm recommending this only for individuals who would like to experience the Eastern Europe atmosphere.

Loved this cinema. Watched Mario movie. A dieing breed tbh. Comfy seats, lots of room, surround sound is not too loud for me delicate little tinnitus ears. A little disappointed they had no hot dogs, and a bag of maltesers wont leave you much change from €5 but thats fine cos I got me daughter to use her pocket money for that. 3 stars might be a bit harsh.

Buy a deal for popcorn and drink for 10 euro and popcorn is verty salty so when I go back ask for refund or change, the staff told me they don't do either so ask can they change nachos and I will pay the extra an again no we don't do change very disappointed with Savoy and I won't coming here again. The 1 star is for the movie otherwise there's no star!

After frequenting this cinema my entire life, I went to see a movie this evening only to see a sign stating that only credit card payments were being accepted. When I questioned a member of staff as to why, I was given an evasive, unsatisfactory answer. Yet another business trying to turn Dublin cashless. Absolute disgrace.

Very nice cinema. Our hall was quite small, it only fitted about 30 people, but very nice. The seats were very comfortable and snacks and priced reasonable. Moreover, the amount of advertisements shown before the movie was the least I have experienced in any cinema over the last years. Would definitely visit again!

Purchase tickets online (€33) to see avatar 3D, last month. A member of staff called me to cancel as there was an issue with screening. They agreed to give me a refund. I have not received my refund. I hope a public review would help this process as I was meant to receive it within 5 days.

A Dublin classic. There aren't many cinemas of its vintage still standing in Dublin. The screens are great, the staff are welcoming and it still has an old-time feel, after all these years. I miss the Carlton, The Adelphi and The Screen, but I'm so grateful we still have The Savoy.

  • Robert Seitz

The place feels and looks lovely, however in the room we were in the projector was set up in a weird way where the movie was kind of skewed. It was screen 5 i think. When we came the place was almost entirely empty, and overall we enjoyed watching a movie here.

Please support the movie theatres. Nothing like seeing movies on the big screen. Clean and safe. Matinee is always a good choice if you have time. Banshees of inisherio was excellent on the big screen. GO. You will be happy you went to Savoy.

  • Ciarán H

Good, central location in the city for a movie. Good selection of movies with smaller screen rooms. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is also a great offer if you use Three as your phone network; you get 2 tickets for €10 on weekdays.

  • Claire

Lovely cinema. Comfortable seats, but the numbering of some physical seats is different to the online numbering (we picked row A online, when we arrived, the seats were numeric). Not a huge selection of food, but it's priced very reasonably.

  • Conchúr MacCarthaig

I love this cinema and it's old styled theatres. Unfortunately it's location just sometimes leads to annoying movie goers, which no fault of the cinema or staff themselves. Other than that I can't find any other fault I have when I go here.

Went to see 'The Chosen' amidst a beautiful audience. There was pin drop silence during the movie and no one moved out until the lights came on. Savoy made it possible for a lovely experience. Bring more of 'Angel studios' movies pls.

  • Mark Graham

Comfortable cinema on main Street of Dublin, very central with multiple cinemas in one complex. A negative not all seats provide comfortable view being at an angle as in cinema 10. Best be early unless you can book the seats.

  • Mr. Shah

It is a nice movie theater and very comfortable . They have approx 13 screens and is very clean and nice. Movie experience here is at another level and seats are very comfortable …

  • Ashley A

A good and well kept cinema. Staff are polite and friendly. Decent snacks, with good offers for students. Movie timings were followed and audio + video quality was awesome! …

  • vera casey

Great value went on Thursday, lots of special admission prices were available, and a very helpful member of staff explained all offers. Very comfortable, clean, and safe.

I watch the Miracle Club. I thought it was very real to Ireland in 1967. At times I found it sad yet there were laughs. Typically of 1967

  • Bonesley Big Brain

Worst cinema experience in my life. Audio is muddy and extremely loud, and the f lights don't go off.

  • El Mito De la Cueva

Very good. Cinema coke and popcorn, in Dublin city centre, whar else do you need on a Sunday evening?

  • Mathies

Smaller cinema balls gives a bit of a weird angle to the screen when it's full but otherwise happy!

  • Giorgia Garavini

One of the best cinemas in town. Very good compromise of price, location and choice of films.

  • Sarah Mcmullan

Paid 2 euros extra and got a large drink and popcorn bit old but clean and comfortable seats

  • Sophie Brookes

Lovely cinema but it's a bit frustrating that you cannot book designated seats online.

  • ivana independent

Took my nephew there and it was so nice and cozy that for sure i will be coming back!

  • Joyce Adena

Great but no wheelchair accessiblity just in case you have someone you know!

  • sandra browne
