Writing this review to commend the manager? Jocelyn on an exceptional job in handling a not so friendly customer when I was there today. I go there regularly to wash my dog, she's a 40lb whoodle and if I take my time it takes me about 35min (40 if I'm basically giving her a bubble bath and getting her completely dry - which is impossible)... But today there was a couple washing their Bernese mountain dog (beautiful dog) but they were there for almost 2hrs!! This location is pretty busy and especially busy on a Saturday afternoon... Jocelyn approached them and politilely requested that they finish up as there's a lineup of people and they've been there for over an hour already... This customer then was pretty rude and said something along the lines of "I'm a paying customer, this is the fastest I've washed my dog, what's the head office number so I can make a complaint..." If anything, wash your dog, get it somewhat dry, then take it home and finish there. We all spend $12.60 on a wash, but it shouldn't take more than an hour... If you're going to take that long at least be nice about it and spend some money in the store... I always buy my dog a treat when I go. Rant over... But shout out to Jocelyn for handling it very well and being very helpful and friendly every time we've gone there. Heck, if this location looses this customer, then good, there are plenty of other people litteraly in line to wash their dogs here and we'll definitely keep coming back. In terms of the wash facilities, they're always cleaned after every wash and the product they provide is great, I would recommend the oat honey shampoo & conditioner, or leaves our dog smelling great and her hair is nice and fluffy after a good blow dry (at home) Again, thank you Jocelyn for your continued hard work and dedication at this pet value location

I goto a petvalu about once a month to bathe my dog. The service and helpfulness I got this last time was very disappointing. Wish I’d have gone to my regular location. The store closes at 730 on weekends, I make sure to show up before 645 to ensure there’s a lot of time left since it takes me usually 15 mins, 20 max to wash my dog. Short hair etc, not that difficult. However this time, it was just before 640 and I was told they shut down the dog wash for the night because they’re closing … there was a guy already washing his dog about done and they were open for at least another 45+ minutes. I ask politely if they can make an exception because i promise to be done by 7. They scoffed and were clearly very annoyed. They’re open until 730! Not sure why they’re so annoyed with a customer. They agree however the shampoos are all hidden in the back so you can’t see options but I know I like a shed relief so that’s fine, she gets me shampoo. She brings it to me and it’s just pure water. I don’t know why they dilute it so much, it’s barely usable. Had to wash the dog 3x to finally get some good suds and had a hard time with his belly and chest because none would get on those areas because I couldn’t put any on my hand. I didn’t mention because the store was getting busy and wanted to still make sure I was out in time.

We brought our pom in for a nail trim to the groomer assuming that way her nails would be clipped safely, the groomer proceeded to clip her nails too short getting her quick. Now she's scared of clippers, and this isn't the first time this has happened I brought my husky in and she got her hair in the file so now my husky and pom is scared of those. I would just be careful bringing your animals here for grooming they don't seem very experienced. And you think bringing your dog to the groomer they would know how to safely clip nails with the safety guard on the clippers before they clip their quicks. she also has her dog in the room which is barking at our dog making her even more anxious and stressed then says the reason she made my dogs quick bleed was because she didn't use the e file and proceeds to blame my dog saying this wouldn't have happened if she used it. But why do u think the dog doesn't like them, because of groomers like that, they claim to know what they are doing and clearly do not then cause injuries to animals and dont want to take responsibility.

3 stars because it's always hit or miss to get a great employee. My last time here the employee, a middle aged woman, was leaning on the cashier desk looking bored asked me what I was looking for. Pointed me in the right direction. When I couldn't find the flavour I was looking for (my kitty has allergies so I have to pick just the right food) I asked her if she had it in the back. All she said, as she leaned on the cashier desk was "no". She didn't offer to order it in for me or apologize. She just said no. Frustrated I decided just to stick to the Westmount location, where the staff is always friendly & they offer to order pet food in if they are out of stock.

I am making a 3 star review based on the rude customer service i received yesterday from the male employee wearing a hat. my husband and I had just gotten a puppy and our breeder recommended a specific kibble, when I asked for his help he just pointed me to the dog food and left, he didn't even say hello. I was about to leave when the sweetest staff consisting of jane asked if I needed help. She than stayed with me for 5 minuets explaining all of my questions about kibble and supplements in depth. If she hadn't came to help me it would be a 1 star. it seems their customer service is a hit or miss but if you get the employee jane you're sure leave happy.

Bought some ferret food here and the next time I went to buy it, they didnt have it. I called and the girl said she could order it in and that she would call me the next day. I ended up calling her and she then looked it up and ordered it. She told me it would be in on Monday (this was Friday). I walked in on Monday and the other girl said their shipment isn't in until Wednesday. I've stretched the last bit of food til Monday. Now it's Monday and I have no food for my ferret. I am not switching her food for 2 days as this will make her sick. I'm disappointed in the company's lack of communication and for providing misleading information.

While the location was easy to get to, and convenient on my way home from work, and while the staff is friendly, I am thoroughly unimpressed with the fish care at this location. Staff member laughed while twisting the bag of my betta fish, and thought it was funny to make him dizzy. No air was added to the bag for his ride home, and I was not given him a bag to keep him from stressing about his trip home. Also, who charges $17 for a crowntail betta? The fish was rung through as a dumbo ear betta, which is very different (and much harder to breed, hence the higher price tag). Here's hoping he makes the night...

I stopped in the other day. Not because I needed something for my dog or cat. I needed something for me. My wheelchair was out of power, I was cold and wet. And very stressed. When I got inside, Jade came to me and asked what I needed. I said that I needed to charge my wheelchair. She just owned this. She got me plugged in. Made sure that I was safe, and then went back to helping the other customers. Yes I am loyal to this location. But this is not in their job description. Jade. So many thanks for stepping outside the box. This is not just a pet store. This is a family store.

Disgusting that this company is forcing employees to work during the pandemic. Some stores told their employees not to wear gloves as it would "look bad" to customers. Other stores refused to give employees who felt unsafe time off. They continue to make their employees work with no extra compensation, which is appalling considering the risk they are putting themselves in. Some stores are down to 1 employee and they are being made to work way longer hours and more days a week than normal. With ZERO extra compensation! Shame on you pet valu. You have lost all my business.

The products are great, but I will never support this business again. They kept TWO cats in a tiny ferret cage. They didn't even have room to stand up or walk around. They just laid there. I tried to play with one through the bars but she couldn't even reach the toy. I also rescued a fish from their disgusting Betta section. I didn't want to support them by buying the fish, but he was about to die. He's now doing fine and has recovered from the neglect, thankfully. They don't care about the animals, they care about profit. They're no better than big box pet stores.

Been buying dog food from here for over a year now and the deal they have is buy 13 bags of dog food and get 1 free. So i have been collecting and told next time i come in and buy a bag i will get 1 free. When i came in about a month later i was shocked to learn that its only valid within a year. Not once this was mentioned to me the 12 previous times i have been in to buy dog food or when i asked the last time i was there if i get a free bag next time i go in. Besides that friendly staff

So wonderfully knowledgable and friendly. Not pushy and very respectful of your wishes for your animal and still able to offer new ideas. I love this store and particularly this location. They have helped me so much with my little fuzz without ever being patronizing. Carla is possibly the best pet store employee I've ever dealt with. The location is easy to access and they have a good selection of items for cats.and a wide variety of foods, totally recommend.

Was having trouble finding a sweater for my puppy in August, everywhere else I tried told me to wait another month for their winter stock to arrive, but my puppy was cold now lol I called ahead and some amazing lady at this store took out a box of winter coats from the back for me to go through and I was able to buy some really good looking warm protection for my 3 month old. I could not be more grateful. Really friendly, extremely helpful staff!

Really nice staff, and lots of selection! Just very unorganized and hard to shop. Could use a serious sort and cleaning so things are easier to find. I didnt even realize there were gerbils in the cages on the bottom shelf until I got down to check them out. Freezer especially needs a sorting. Found some new things there that other pv dont carry! Overall decent place and they work with rescues which is extra cool. :) Check it out for yourself.

Stopped in yesterday and the girl working was washing the dog wash stations 1.5 hours before close. She let us know the latest we should have been there was 6 when they don't close until 730 because apparently it takes her an hour to wash the 2 stations. She made the situation very uncomfortable for us. We decided to take the dogs elsewhere because of the way she treated us. Definitely will not be going back to this location!

Best place we have found for a DIY dog wash. Very clean, very helpful staff. Everything you need (shampoo, towels, dryer) is provided and they clean up after you! All for $10 per half hour. Will most definitely be bringing our dog back here in the future. One con I can see is if your dog totally freaks out at baths they could go out and over the railing if they slipped the tether. Other than that, this place is perfect.

Facility itself is nice. The staff not so much except for the guy that works there. We were told to dry our dog in the tub and not outside of it, which is understandable, but the lady's reasoning was because now she had to sanitize all over the petwash station. Were they not being sanitized before? Especially given that it's during the pandemic, one would expect they're being diligent with their sanitization process.

This place is the best, period. They have a wildly wide selection of food, including more specialty stuff like live crickets and kangaroo cat food. All the people who work there clearly love animals and they even have cats up for adoption that you can interact with. They also have a huge dog washing area which looks impressive, but I can't speak to that as I don't own a dog. Great customer service though :)

Excellent service, and such a friendly vibe. Their dog wash area is the best thing ever. You can bring your dog in and they walk you through the steps which are so simple and a lot less messy/ traumatic compared to cleaning your dog at home. Highly recommended for all dogs. 10$ includes free use of the space, aprons, shampoo and conditioner, some treats, towels and an industrial air drier.

My wife and I come here often as we foster dogs for WHARF. The staff is always so kind and welcoming and willing to help us. I came by myself one time and the dog we had at the time was from a reserve and had never had a bath before so a staff member lent me a hand and made it a really positive experience for the both of us. The cost to use there bath faculties is of great value.

I shop here regularly and since I always know what I want so it doesn't bother me that the staff are usually talking to each other. It's nice that they always acknowledge me when I walk in the door though. There are a few products I wish they carried in stock but in general have most everything I need for a one stop shopping experience.

Average prices, the older one and one of the younger staff were too busy talking amongst themselves behind the counter to help me. Just got a new puppy and was unsure of what to purchase for kibble, and when I asked, the girl with the long black hair acted like I was interrupting them, and was very short with me. Won’t be back.

This place is amazing. The owner cares very hard about the products sold here, so you know if she us selling it it's been researched prior. The staff is super sweet and super helpful. Its clean and organized, they are great with children and fur/scale babies. Owner goes above and beyond, worth going out of my way for 12/10

This place is absolutely amazing other than the fact that they have had no dog shampoo for the dog washes for at least a month other than puppy. Just throwing it out there from a business perspective it might be better to throw a bottle back there off the shelf rather than have people like me going elsewhere for services.

My go-to pet store for my reptiles and chinchillas. They beat out petland in terms of price and customer service. Very friendly and helpful employees. Great selection of small animal products. They always carry my chinchillas favorite toys (lava stars and mega munch sticks). Love the cats free roaming the store!

I was curious with Pet Valu recently since I saw a few branches here at Edmonton. This was the first Pet Valu shop that I visited and it was surprisingly a great pet shop! You could also find affordable pet products that would be perfect in taking care of your pets. Their pet foods also seem of high-quality.

I shop here because they are the only place that sells pefromatrin ultra. Bosley’s is better (their sister brand). They were very rude to me when I had to make a return and made me feel criminal. On a side note. Bosley’s Abbotsford and North Vancouver have always been amazing. These must be franchisees.

Got a new puppy and have not bought much dog food before. Went in and was shortly asked if I needed help from a friendly staff named Claire. She was very pleasant and asked many questions to get to know my dog, made the experience feel like I knew what I was doing! Would recommend this store to anyone

This place seems to be one of the very rare pet stores that actually allows you to order items in such as brands of pet food or types of bugs and within varied amounts. They also do so with minimal complications or error. I would say this is by far one of the best pet stores in town with great staff.

I have been a customer of this store for almost three years. However, I can no longer trust a business that waters down its product. I was frustrate to find out that the store dilutes all the shampoos in the pet washing station. A business owner that is this cheap should not be trusted.

The self serve dog wash is perfect for my bigger dog. I would never want to wash him at home and have to clean up myself. The products leave him silky soft and the water pressure and air pressure of the dryers make the job much easier. The workers were so sweet to my old boy, too!

Good place for pet food. Their house brand food is high quality food and our senior cat has been more active and her coat has been far nicer since we began feeding it to her. In addition they have a large selection of toys and care items for all kinds of pets.

Every retailer in Edmonton should visit this store to see how it's run. A warm greeting every time I go in, friendly, knowledgeable staff who are quick to offer assistance without unnecessarily hovering, and a good selection of stock. I don't go anywhere else.

I always have a good experience at my local pet valu. The staff has been consistent for a while. They are always friendly when I go in and they are able to help me with products for my cats, dog and skink.

Service was poor and staff members were rude. One staff member was friendly and polite, but the senior staff member was rude. Products were expensive and I don't intend to shop there again any time soon.

I enjoy the location. Not many live animals being kept which I think is a good thing for a chain pet store. They have an alright selection of feeder insects with fair prices and friendly staff as well.

I take my golden retriever for nail clip and bath, 10$ plus GST for each. Bath comes with shampoo, conditioner, towels and doggy treats. Great deal plus no mess at home call for appointments
