Not considerable or understandable or flexible due to the situation. This happened on Dec 1st 2021 around 2 pm I had my receipt from same day 3 hours ago( 11 am) , and my kid was with me, I asked if I can get a membership by return and repurchase, the store manager insist I have to go back home and get my purchased item in order to do so. I understand they are concerned if refund me without actual product and I will just run away, bur seriously? I was there with my 4 years old kid stand right next to me ! All I need is return and repurchase and get a membership from something I purchase the same day 3 hours ago... I've worked at other places and they would do that for the customer willingly ! and I've done what for my customer too! So I end up drive all the way back and bring the heavy item to the store and returned and refund and repurchased and got my member-card and carried it all the way back, the only good part is the other sales associate was being nice and helpful, thank you. Didn't argue much with the store manager but still feeling disappointed about how they treat the customer and how much trust they have for their customer. Maybe this is your policy to your customer but this is not nice.

We had a wonderful experience. Last night we went to Petland because we needed a Hamster. We had amazing customer service. The girl who helped us was very knowledgeable, and asked us a lot of questions. Which I appreciated. She made sure we had all the supplies, what our experience level was, helpful information to keep our new little friend Happy and Healthy. I had gone to another petstore, Won't name names, but within 24 hours the hamster we bought from there had passed. The staff didn't ask us one question. they gave us the hamster, put our new friend in a box and sent us away. They did not engage with us at all. I refused to go back as if our new little friend was sick. chances are so are the rest of the ones from that cage. I am so glad to drive to the city to go to Petland. It did not disappoint. I Highly recommend this place. Another great thing I learned is they will take their pets back if you can no longer look after them. That eliminates selling animals online, sending them to shelters! Love it. Plus their Philosophy of the forever pet and forever home. Love it.

Always a good experience for me. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, always know when the don't actually know something, and are quick to help. The 30% markup can sometimes be a bit higher on some of the reptiles, so you can occasionally get a bit lower price on things if you try. There are 3 dedicated parking spots for the store, however there are lots of parking spots in the parking lot out front of Safeway. They don't have dogs here, however they occasionally have some cats to adopt. They also have ferrets and a parrot currently. The fish and reptile section gets cleaned regularly and they are more than happy to let you hold something if you want. Overall, I'd say it's quite good. I've developed good relationships with the staff there over the years and always get useful help.

I rate this place as a 4 out of 5 based on several observations. Please don't get me wrong as I do find that this store is a very nice store to come to provided you don't have small dogs. there was an overabundance of selection for medium large and extra-large size dogs but very little for the small or extra small dogs that I have. The store was definitely well kept, friendly staff and happy and eager to serve you. So they definitely do need to improve their selection for the extra small or small pets. They did have quite a selection of other pets in there for the store size consideration. lay it was a bit tricky though considering they did have a very narrow store to work. But all in all it was a good experience though a little disappointing on the small and extra small sized dogs.

The employees at this place are very rude!! I called today at 7:15pm, and asked if someone was available to trim my rabbits nails (I know last minute because they close at 8pm). I asked a girl named Emma if I could come in even though they were closing soon and she said yes as long as it’s by 7:45pm. I rushed there and a very rude male employee (didn’t get his name) started arguing with me about how I was never told to come into the store and there’s nobody there to cut my rabbits nails. (Even though I never talked to him on the phone). Emma just stood there and didn’t say a thing. What I am most disappointed about is the lack of accountability and professionalism. Nobody apologized or admitted they were in the wrong. I’ll never go back to this place!

Called nearly every store in the city after my dogs food was abruptly discontinued. The woman over the phone was super polite and even checked all the expiry dates before putting some on hold for me. When I came into the store I was promptly approached by Kyle who was fantastic. He patiently listened to me freak out over the situation (not his fault or Petland’s) and offered potential options to switch over to within my preferred brand. He probably spent ten minutes with me going over ingredients and offering advice. As someone who works in retail, I was thoroughly impressed by his customer service skills. I don’t live near Capilano at all but I would definitely recommend this store for anyone in the area or anyone in a pinch. 10/10

I went in the store a little while ago to get hay and food so i went to ask for help from a young woman and she gave me the worst glare. She led me to the wrong aisle and when I could not find the items, she then informed me that they were sold out. Finding that unrealistic, i looked around a little more and I finally found it. I also looked through the guinea pig pens just to check the little guys out and the cage was absolutely disgusting. I feel only horror for the guinea pigs living in. After seeing the guinea pigs i wanted to see the rest of the animals and the hamsters in the small cages looked like they were struggling, it was terrifying to see. Please train your employees better

Horrible experience with an employee who had so much attitude. She barely gave me the time of day. I went in to get a bird, and I saw this gorgeous cocktail but it looked lifeless all the feathers were gone (literally had a bald spot on its head) and when I asked the female employee to maybe remove the cocktail from the other two she laughed in my face and said it’s normal for animals to do that and she has more experience than me… I was genuinely baffled that she could say that when it was so clearly not natural. The state your birds are in is unbelievable and truly inhumane. I believe the woman’s name was Megan, please teach her to treat the customers and animals better.

Love this store... pricey but it is a large store per sq ft and many live pets and a number of staff on site, prices reflect that. Staff are lovely, I always enjoy going there! I like that they help adopt out rescues as well. Pets appear well treated and cared about. Very clean store and always well stocked. Staff always greet you and ask if you need assistance. Good selection for kitties, especially my very old finicky ones They offer some high quality nibbles and kibbles. Great store, just be realistic that you will not find cheap bargains here, but I am willing to pay a little more for their quality and care.

asked about dog harnesses as the one i had for my dog wasn’t fitting his needs anymore. the young employee that was helping me had no idea and showed me to a couple but none that i wanted. hung around for a little bit longer deciding if i wanted to just grab one & try it (also just letting my dog check out the birds and get a little exposure) and then the assistant manager came over and asked if she could help with anything. immediately found me exactly what i wanted and spent some time fitting the harness on my dog & making sure it worked. wonderful experience! left feeling so happy :) and doggo was well loved!!

The store was big and full of supplies, but was a bit understock on bird cages. We were on a rush, so my dad had a little complaint on the speed of service, but overall, once we had everything and bought our two little budgies, I can say that it was a great experience and a good place to adopt and buy supplies. Toys are a bit expensive, but there are sales to cover for them. I was a bit disappointed that they clipped their wings, though. One of my female budgies can fly perfectly now, but the other one has clipped wings that weren't so well done. Hopefully they'll grow back.

Pointed out a betta fish that was on its last few legs so to speak, due to some pretty serious and extensive fin rot and the rep last night got hostile and defensive. Profiting off animals while neglecting them is incredibly unprofessional and cruel. I asked if they'd be willing to part with it so I could at least give it a chance as I doubt it will survive Petland's "quality care." Was met with more hostility. The reaction I received lets me know that Petland knows they were in the wrong. I hope the fish is presently being cared for rather than left on the floor to die.

Awesome pet store. The people who work here are very knowledgeable and very friendly. Staff are always so good to my little girl when we come in to look at the animals. One big thing that breaks this place apart from other pet stores is the open habitats. As long as you are gentle with the animals you are allowed to play with and pet the animals. This is great for people who are unable to have pets but love animals and it is great for people looking to get animals from these stores as the animals are already well socialized and less likely to bite.

I will never shop here again. The advertised price, which is no better than anywhere else, is fake and only for “members”. There is no obvious indication that this price is not the regular price. They add a $4-5 surcharge for non-members. I am actually a member but you can tear up my card as I will never be coming back. I did not have my card and had no time to get a new one. I would not recommend anyone go here as the member price only is the same or slightly cheaper than elsewhere and the non-member price is a complete rip off.

I am quite surprised by all the praise this location has received. It's possible I went on a bad day, when no one wanted to work. I was not greeted when I entered the store, nor was I approached while circling the isles trying to find the item I was looking for. After giving up, I went to the front of the store to find the staff members involved in what I'm sure was a very interesting conversation, unfortunately all they said to me was "Hi there". I didn't even get a goodbye... Customer service is a lost art.

Had a very good conversation with the fish and a reptile manager. He informed me there's a lot more available than what you just see at the store level. The place felt very inviting and the staff seemed happy and well educated. I'll go back to this location they even had a little play room. Your could spend time with some kitties pricing was a bit high, but it is a pet store, not a grocery store all an all i think the 4/5 stars is completely reasonable I look forward to doing business here in the future.

I wouldn't go to this petland again. Not one person greeted me or assisted me all the times I've gone there. They were all too busy standing around chatting, laughing, telling stories and seemed too occupied to even help anyone. I've gone here several times and each time I'm not greeted or remotely even acknowledged. I will never go to this store again. The staff suck! If you want quality customer service, go to a petsmart, the staff at petsmart are always there for their clients.

Went in for cat food, stood staring at harnesses for a solid minute like a dummy before Clarisse jumped in to help out. She was extremely knowledgeable about the different harnesses and what would work for my cats. She was also eager to help me fit them with the right sizes and was also accommodating by allowing us try them out in the cat room. I will definitely be returning here, big thank you to Clarisse for all of her help.

Came in to get a couple of things to spoil my pup with for his birthday, and Emma was the most helpful, kind, and professional person there. She was the only one to acknowledge me despite other employees making direct eye contact with me and walking away and she went above and beyond to make sure my experience was pleasant. I don’t usually shop at petland but my experience with Emma will definitely encourage me to come back.

Great Customer Service, was greeted upon entering and directed to the right area. Was assisted in the fish department as I needed alot of fish food 3x more than average. The crew was able to point out a better value for my money. I really appreciated that. Upon leaving I was greeted with a pleasant and friendly smile and suggestion to join the club for discounts. Overall it was a welcoming and non pressuring environment.

ANIMAL ABUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate that they have the birds wing clipped.. and the fact the fish are in such small bowls and aren’t even swimming. Update: they don’t allow minors in without parents and wouldn’t tell us why we weren’t messing anything up and all I did was walk in and look since I wanted to buy my cats and dog some toys and food for Christmas. Horrible place every they ABUSE ANIMALS!

I just bought my first ever snake. A beautiful ball python, and Ellis the employee who helped me was amazing. Super educated and answered all my questions. I highly recommend going here for all your reptile questions. They have a small inventory, however the information they give you is worth it. 10/10 service. My ball python is healthy and they even provided me his/her feeding log.

We use this pet shop pretty frequently and the staff are always attentive and helpful. They have an awesome selection for almost any pet you could have. We love to come as you can quickly give a bunny or a guinea pig a little pat as you enter the store to make your purchases. We lovingly refer to it as "the free zoo". This location almost always has what I'm looking for.

The staff here are amazing! They are always friendly and accommodating when our kids just want to come in for a visit. This past weekend we stopped by to pick up our first pet for the kids, a little syrian hamster. Katie was awesome and very knowledgeable and took the time to explain care requirements and recommendations for appropriate food choices. Thanks Katie!

Petland never disappoints with their high-quality pet products and essentials available here. I often go here with my mom because she is used to buying necessary pet foods here. Me on the other hand would drive from one place to another to find more interesting pet products. She buys pet foods in bulk so I'm certain my mom had a nice time shopping here always.

Knowledgeable staff and well stocked (for the most part) the only reason this isnt 5 stars is that, in the back where the fish are its hard to find an associate working there regularly. alot of times ill be looking for an associate and the only ones i can find are at the cashier desk :( maybe its just bad luck but overall super nice location. would recommend!

If you spoil your pet, this place has a seemingly great variety for the area of capliano. It is a little pricey but they support a local cat tree maker. His craftmanship is A1 and in my opinion, better than the brand name ones. They will build your cat tree stand on the spot. They have a buy 10 of the same beamd and size, get one free.

Staff are always knowledgeable and courteous, been going here for years. Love the location and the staff. Buyer beware! If you are looking for feeder frozen rats the availability is shoddy at best! The cat and dog items have never ever been an issue, and employees will help you with big bags if they are too heavy!

Overally a nice place. I'm a fish guy so just focus on fish/aquarium. Wide variety of products. Price is higher than other stores (eg., Pet Smart) but you can find a lot of stuff, and fishes look more healthy, probably a better in-store care. No comment on the pets (dogs/cats/reptiles/birds).

The store clerk was mean and very disrespectful towards me and wouldn't sell me a Betta fish. He kicked me out of the store threatening to call the police on me. So rude so disrespectful I wouldn't recommend this store for anyone to come here unless they wanna get kicked out

This small brown try to help but telling us that we don’t have to right size for are very small dog. When we had the right one, even had to show her to prove we had the right one. She still growing so she doesn’t need a tight. But didn’t help us with the other dog jacket.

Everything is way overpriced. Dam near $8 for a simple box of Milk bones. Yet the Safe Way next door sells the same box for $4.25. That's just a disgusting mark up. Knowing Safe Way is still making money selling the same product for half
