Went in to return dead fish and was unimpressed with the customer service to say the least! I was given misinformation on acclimating fish and so 2 out of 7 didn't make it. I was a little confused why if acclimation was not done properly (according to them) only 2 died out of all 7, but besides the point here. The girl yelled and refused to honor the return policy, laughed in my face and called me lucky that the other ones survived. Yeah, dead fish in hand and humiliation really makes me feel lucky. The Petland Receipt says "Returns accepted for 30 days. Products must be unused and in original packaging", not sure how much more unused and original you can get considering they didn't even last 24 hours. They wanted to know where my water sample was.... they never made it to the tank before they died due to misinformation. They informed me they wouldn't accept this either and would not warranty the new fish, well in all fairness your warranty is nothing but a gimmick. It was one thing to be given misinformation resulting in the fishes death. It was one thing to accuse me of being the problem even though not all the fish died but were subjected to equal handling treatment. It was another thing to be yelled and laughed at by someone who was in a manager role.

My daughter had recently lost her cat a few months back. And she wanted another cat. I went in to this location and found a new addition to our home, she is two and a half year old cat. I was informed by the staff, that the cat was in good health. So I proceeded with the adoption. Once I got the cat home I introduced her to all the family members including my other cat and my dog which both accepted her into my family. 4 days have gone by and I noticed that our new cat was sneezing every few minutes with a lot of discharge from her nose I immediately took her to the vet, the vet did a thorough examination. Upon completion of the examination my vet told me that she has feline herpes! And it is very contagious. And lo and behold now my other cat has it. The gift that keeps on giving. So I have now decided to take this one step further. I will be in contact with the Edmonton Humane Society which whom are the ones that do the adoption process for the cat at this pet store. Furthermore I will be in contact for the individuals and the governing law which hold the Edmonton Humane Society accountable for quote unquote releasing unhealthy pets into the homes of healthy pets under the pretense that the pets are healthy.

i came in about 7 months ago to get a rabbit with my boyfriend, the girls helping were super nice and i was really happy with the bunny we got! a couple weeks ago me and my boyfriend went back to get another rabbit, because our current rabbit is so social. we were really disappointed with the guy working up by the cash. he kept telling us not to pet the rabbit not to reach in the rabbit tank when we were obviously wanting to adopt one that day. he kept watching us and when we would walk away he would go up to the rabbits and literally say “im sorry about that little guy.” ive had rabbits my whole life and i would never do anything to scare or harm them. we felt VERY disrespected. he kept watching us go in the aisles. even one of the girls said to us thats okay you can pet them to see which one you want. the girls were nice like usual. but me and my boyfriend felt so uncomfortable by that guy constantly watching us and telling us not to do anything. we felt really awkward so we left with out adopting a new friend or buying any other products.

Disappointed. So we waited 20 minutes for someone to help us before giving up and leaving. While waiting we looked at all the aquariums that had fish for sale in them, and all the dead ones that lined the top and bottom made me sick to my stomach, also, the tanks were covered with algae, you could see where they partly cleaned, but streaks of algae coated the glass. Also, the large size dog kennel liner we originally went to go buy was cracked to the point its unusable. That was the original reason we were waiting. To see if they had one for sale that wasn't destroyed. Then also while waiting we went to the raw frozen food section to see if we could get food for the dogs which they didn't carry, and it was basically empty. They also do not carry raw frozen dog bones. I then thought ok well let's go get some treats for our dogs here. Not a chance. They wanted $16.99 for 4 bully treats in a bag. I can get 4 times that amount at Costco. I absolutely do not recommend this pet store. Do better guys. Seriously.

We went in with our kids to get some stuff for our Dog. As soon as we walked in, a staff member was asking if we needed help finding anything. We were browsing as we had never been in Pet Land before. We went to the live animals area, cause our 8 year old daughter is an animal lover, with goals of becoming a vet. She was offered to hold a bird by the staff member, which she was excited for. It made her day to hold a parrot, then she got to hold a bunny, and another bunny, and another bunny, and a Guinea Pig, then the Parrot, then the fourth bunny, I think the Parrot was in there again. And they tried to get a budgie out at some point. I think we spent 30-45 min holding animals. Even our 17 month old son had fun petting one of the bunnies. The staff member was so patient, and kind with our daughter. And you know their animals are well socialized. What an amazing experience.

One of the best experiences I've ever had at a petstore. After several bad ones with PetSmart, I came by with my grandson today to purchase some dog food. It was early in the morning, around 10 am. Although she looked very busy, she smiled and greeted us offering any assistance. Later, my grandson was looking at two of the larger Bearded Dragons when the same girl--Elissa--came by and asked if I was finding everything okay. She saw my grandson was fawning over the dragons, and politely asked if it'd be okay with me, if my grandson would like to hold one! He was so happy. She gave some little facts about the dragon before putting him back, and asking my grandson if he'd like to give it some "breakfast" crickets! It was the best service I've received from any retail employee. I will be coming again, thank you!

Horrible lack of knowledge and items. Staff very rude to me due to handicap - isles are too small to get through in a wheelchair anyhow. And it is made clear that this is not something they care about. Advised this size tank (starter) for aggressive fish plus 2 community ones. Also advised divider which even I can read will not fit. Total lack of knowledge. Perhaps staff know more about other animals, I am not sure. But they definitely don't know about fish. Plus we got 20 gal size tank at Big Al's for less than Petland's 10 gal. Prices are higher than elsewhere. It takes a long time to get staff to help. Whether in an area or checkout. And treatment towards those with mobility challenges or children with special needs - I will never return.

THIS IS HOW I WANT A PET STORE EXPERIENCE TO BE! Cody is a fantastic guy, he truly gets customer service. He's passionate about the animals, knowledgeable and he speaks the way you would want to be spoken to. If I lived outside of town, I would drive all the way in to this Petland, because it's just that good The store is so clean, the amount of animals they carry is perfectly manageable, all of the cages are very clean, the animals are healthy and I have never experienced customer service that good before. Cody was amazing! He was the one I dealt with directly, but I was pleasantly acknowledged by every staff member that was working. Great job you guys, keep it up! :)

At this point this store is one of the few I will purchase any animals from. Sure they are a bit expensive but I'm willing to pay the extra because they don't skip important corners like quarantineing the new animals or treating any ailments that the animals may receive. I had a whole tank full of beautiful fish and because of there well informed employees I was able to help them with everything, sadly the tank died when I purchased one fish from pet smart as within 12 hours all fish, including the new one, died. There are only a few stores I'm willing to go to and this is one of them

Petland probably has the most knowledgeable staff of all the pet store chains. If you're getting a fish be sure to bring in a water sample for them to test. It takes about 5 minutes. It will let you know if your tank is good for the fish. Petland has the most expensive pets (hamsters are double the price of PetSmart, fish can be up to four times more expensive than other stores), and often also the most expensive accessories and supplies. Prices at every Petland also vary and are very inconsistent, so shop around to make sure that you're getting the best value for your money.

I have been and patronized a number of Pet stores in the Edmonton and St. Albert area. The staff are friendly and welcome you not unlike others. But what sets this store above the others is the quality, and diversity of products offered. For the size of the store, they maximize the space well. It is not cluttered but well laid out. The prices are reasonable and in-line with the discount stores. In terms of pet food, for dogs and cats they tend to have a smaller offering of the more popular non grocery store or what some call boutique brands. Acana, nutreance etc.

Do not go there at 8pm at night looking for a bday gift for your dog. My 2 boys and I did and they were excited to get her a new toy. Yes they were squeaking toys as we were trying to decided which one to get our dog. We were told by one of the staff if we could be quiet because they are quieting the small animals for the night. There were 2 rabbits and some bigger looking mice and some hamsters which are nocturnal. We were asked to keep our noise to a minimum. I guess if the small animals need quiet to be turned in then maybe you should not be open until 9pm.

As can be seen from my receipt, I was in-store after closing time, and never felt rushed to 'get out' ! Cassidy was so helpful, considerate and patient in dealing with my anxiety that Luna's food was no longer available. We read ingredient after ingredient on numerous bags of food, at least 20!, and found a solution. It's great knowing if my furgirl doesn't like the food, I can bring it back for a refund. While researching comparable brands today, I was sooooo pleased to find that Petland carries both of those brands as well. I'll be back today !

This petland is unfriendly me and the family went there to get something and we are looking at the birds all the staff were talking around the bunny cage I'm still at the birds and they did not even knowledged us they don't care about their customers not like the ones on Calgary Trail and the one in Millwoods they're the really nicest people It's closest one to us but will never go there again we'll go to different other locations to bit further away the other ones are a lot more friendlier and they care about their customers better

We arrived to the store 15 minutes before it closed. We flagged down an associate to see if they could help us in the fish area. We waited for 10 minutes and finally a gentleman comes to tell us they’re closing in 5 minutes and that they need to start doing their closing duties. He asked us to come back tomorrow and didn’t even offer to ring us out for what we had in our hands. Just rude and lazy. Petland is normally my go-to for dogs and fish supplies but I’m definitely not coming back to this location again.

The store is always stocked with a variety of items. Reason for 2 stars. This store has bad customer service. The fish are not watched and are stressed. The other animals.are also stressed. I was lied to so many times just to get a sell by the workers when purchasing fish i gave up on petland, that is until i went to the store on Manning Drive. Yes, it may be a bit further however even my son commented that its worth the drive to get good customer service by people who know what they are talking about.

We stopped in to this store right after we brought our newest addition home to buy a few supplies and the staff was absolutely amazing! They were extremely helpful and friendly. We also stopped in the grooming department and the groomer Michelle was knowledgeable and advised us on products we would need for our new puppy. The store is bright and clean. A nice shopping atmosphere. If you need any supplies or services I highly reccomend this store and location.

So…I have visited Petland almost daily for the past year, and depending on where I am, I checkout other stores. This store did have pretty nice fish and the workers were pretty friendly (although, the fish department seemed a little busy for only one guy, on the BOGO Friday). I wasn't impressed by the plants. They had a lot of algae in the tank - passed on the BOGO, this time. It's on my route home from work, so, I'll probably stop by again.

Went in as the store was referred to me, walked around for about 15 to 20 minutes... seen 4 workers see me in the store, walked around the fish tanks for 10 minutes.... Up and down the fish food isles confused... not a single hello, how can we help, do u know what you're after .... NOTHING.. grabbed a bottle of pleco food as I need it now but won't be going back, prices were quite a bit higher than others as well... Horrible service tho

I'm only rating this location a 4 out of 5 due to the lack of variety in their fish section. I went to this location with my 7 yr old niece looking to get some starter fish for my newly circulated tank. The selection of fish was quite disappointing. On the positive side the girl that helped us, answered all my questions and we ended up buying 3 dwarf blue lobsters! So, customer service 5 out of 5. Selection 4 out of 5

Just went in to buy a budgie bird, and the lady who looks after the birds was super rude and condescending. Made me feel completely dumb instead of offering helpful advice. I phoned Capilano and was treated the exact opposite. I was given helpful information in a kind response , instead of being put down like I was at this store. I am now heading to Capilano to purchase a new cage and a new budgie friend for my bird!

Mediocre at best. Employees stood in a group near the birds that I was observing. I'm interested in having another bird in my home after losing my cockatiel of many years. NOT ONE member of your staff ever acknowledged me in any way as I stood directly in front of them. Frustrated I went to the counter to pay for my dog's item and waited there until one of them broke from their conversation to tend the front.

Fantastic staff and Management I had bought several collars since I was unsure of my dogs size, when it came time to return the ones that didn't fit. I thought it was going to be a hassle. When the Manager came he asked a couple questions then did my return quick and efficient. Also the collar that fit was the one suggested by the girl who helped me in the first place. These people know there dogs.

Responsible advice given regarding acquiring a new fish,would not suggest or show me a fish too large for my tank felt that even if I wanted a fish that would grow too big wouldn't sell it. That was my first visit second visit I was looking in their huge selection of fish food and within 30 seconds an associate asked me if I heeded assistance Excellent found what I needed right away

The women at this store were very rude both times I went here and seemed racist as they were only responding to other people that were there that arrived after us and completely ignored and walked passed our child, I will never go back to this store again as both times I was treated the same way. I will continue with petsmart as they are always kind and courteous there.

Love this petland i got a hamster from them about 2 years ago and he happend to be a she and had babies the day after i brought her home. So when they were old enough they let me bring the babies in to be adopted out witch was awesome! Staff are very knowledgeable about the animals they have and deal with and are very personable and extremely helpfull.

Absolutely perfect service! Staff was super friendly. Thanks for helping so much with getting me two awesome degus, their cage, and all other necessities. They seem happy in their new home, they've been chirping away and playing, definitely plan to come back to buy more toys, especially the lava perch, they are obsessed with it!

Worst experience ever! A new manager is needed immediately when she scares off the customers when making a sale. Don't think the manager is making store goals when she is trying to sell you $1000 worth of product just to buy an animal...who buys a $20 plastic wheel when you know the animal is just going to chew it apart?!?!

I like their excellent pet service here! I'm glad my coworker told me about this place and I wasn't taking it into consideration at first since I already knew a lot of good pet shops here at Edmonton. However, she encouraged me to visit the place and even drove me here. Their staff were so kind and gentle to our pets.

Sam helped me out today and she was honestly so amazing, as soon as I walked in the door she was there to greet me and asked if I needed help. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great discounts, good variety of merchandise in all areas. We bought our budgies (and all we needed for them from here) and they are very healthy, the area they were kept was very clean. When you go make sure to check the ends of the aisles for great bargains too.

Honestly Walmart carries my dogs food brand now and substantially cheaper, so the free bag program here isn't even a perk anymore. Also there hasn't been a single time I've visited here and hadn't stood at the register wondering if anyone was actually working that day.

Walked in the door to purchase an aquarium kit. Was instantly told they were closing and that they didnt have time to help. The aquarium set up was $399 and literally all they needed to do was take it off the shelf. Great job Petland. I will be going elsewhere.

They have good products but it's difficult to find staff when you need help. Also, they never have their crickets on time. Their supplier is VERY unreliable. lots of the crickets are already dead when they come in. Its ridiculous.

They let you pet and hold the rabbits as well as the other rodents. Alot of the animals are rescues. And they have an excellent selection of fish. Staff are helpful and informative
