Did Film and TV Bachelor over a decade ago. First BIG thing ringing alarm bells now I'm older and wiser - they expect you to understand filming on a level that expects you have taken film classes at school, if not from some sort of film college after school. The lack of teaching basics was ridiculous. Some lecturers were amazing (Dr Peter Schembri for instance, I miss him, wonderful professor, passionate about Star Trek, though not a fan in general, I always appreciated what Star Trek did: being progressive, representation of minorities etc, and most importantly, Schembri is a good human being), but some lecturers were horrific. I don't remember their names anymore as I've blocked them out over the years I was bullied out of a project and months later realised it was because of a backstabbing project member named Saskrita (I think) Shresha. I thought she was a friend (oh how naive). She introduced me to the phenomenon that is "backstabbing" which was applauded by the professor in charge who had an eye for her. I knew on a sublimal level that he never liked me (I wasn't a bootlicker, she most definitely was). Another fond memory was my final year, I was First AD on another group project where a certain project member caused a massive scheduling issue for scenes because she was over 2 hours late to set which threw the entire project into chaos. I was reprimanded instead and left out of the credits. When I raised the issue they claimed it was an "oversight". I bore the brunt of her poor planning and my grades suffered despite saving the film as without me doing all I could to reschedule scenes until 4am the next morning after a long day of filing and trying to re-arrange scenes as best as doable. I was up until the wee hours trying to fix the scene scheduling. The professor said my scrambling to fix this was not good enough. Final straw came as we wrapped filming and all other group members fell over themselves to thank each other while I was left wholly unacknowledged. No acknowledgement of my efforts, only blame it wasn't perfectly scheduled. QUT film department and many students are nothing more than sharks who will devour those who do not commit 110%. "oh you have a job to get to, I don't care, you should be here painting a dresser for scene 3 tomorrow". Basically, if you NEED to work to pay bills and AREN'T 110% committed to being a yes man or woman when it comes to the film and TV bachelor you better bug out now. It's been over a decade and I still wish I'd never done film and TV at QUT. The cherry on top is that a few of these same people reach out for "donations" every few years for their film projects. First time I was gullible again and thought they might like to catch up aside from begging for money. Nope. I was too hopeful again. Nothing but leeches. Learn "film" at a real film college, QUT isn't it.

I am writing this for my Arab Muslims fellows, especially Middle-eastern. It always depends on what you are going to learn here; Language, Bachelor, Master, or PhD. They have plenty of good language teachers and have few VERY VERY bad teachers which they haven't tried to change them. Some of them come to the class and sit on the chair directing students to do this and that without explanation, we did complain about this but no one listened to us. the receptionists in international language are not up to standards especially the Muslim lady (I am a Muslim and I can assure you that is not the way Muslims talk or deal with people, so sad about that). another thing about International college at QUT, they repeat the course for you not because you needed it but because they want you to pay more. it is money-oriented not service or teaching oriented at all. When it comes to Masters study. sometimes you pay as much as AUD 4000 for a course in which you don't have classes and you see the instructor only twice during the whole semester. some classes are taught by Asians who does not speak English very well and you hardly understand what they say because of their pronunciation (you do not get what you paid for). For PhDs, I have dealt with CARRS-Q at QUT and I am satisfied with what I get from them. just be careful with the international college and doing the master, they gonna suck your pocket.

Absolutely horrible student support and the scheduling is a mess. Absolutely horrifically disorganized. No graduation dates announced for a ceremony in July, making it so hard to organize international parents to come over for it. For placement planning, they are cancelled and change with little to no notice, although the WILS office is helpful when you contact them the scheduling is so disorganized. The class schedules for nursing students are sporadic with mandatory exams during 0 week and time tables that change weekly. Have on multiple occasions shown up for exams only to be cancelled on and delayed by multiple hours/days, including one that was scheduled for 8 am where they gave no notice until 8:20 that it was rescheduled for 10 am- no apologies or reason given. I have attended and graduated from two other universities, and enjoyed my time at both however, QUT has been an absolutely appalling process and I would have transfers ages ago if my visa was not connected to it. 0/10 would not recommend the nursing program or university to anyone

QUT had gone downhill for Nursing. The fees structure for nursing is extremely expensive. They won’t give you scholarships for semester fees. Some of the tutors in QUT are extremely rude and won’t give you any exemptions if you’re sick. There are some tutors who are nice but it’s very rare. It’s very strict, rushed course content, things were missed in pracs and also zero flexibility for pracs( literally take what you’re given or find someone to swap with) and you’re honestly just a number here. They don’t care about you , you’re literally a for them. The course content including lectures are recycled material for years. If I had the option of -1/10 I would give that. Now there’s a new trend in QUT Nursing to catch students and fail them in the units even if its a minor issue.Disappointed with this entire university.

The Kelvin Grove Campus is well maintained. There are adequate amenities and the University prides itself on offering a mixture of theory and practical elements. The Masters of Counselling degree is extremely engaging and the experience has been invaluable. However, thee sport facilities definitely need a proper management. Lots of useless bureaucracy and paper work resulting in losing their customers and leaving the venue with lots of empty booking slots.v

It's easy to keep fit walking around this campus, but there are plenty of lifts and covered walkways to suit all levels of mobility. Plenty of accessible bathrooms and hand sanitiser stations as well as water bubbles to refill bottles. As a student, I really appreciate the extra efforts by lecturers, course coordinators and faculty support to ensure we understand our assessment tasks and course content and that we have access to the resources we need.

  • Jerin Jose

They have the best infrastructure among various universities across brisbane. The student support services and other services are very much useful. The transportation services offered by the University is rvery much helpful for students who depend upon public transport. Apart from the cafeteria, there are numerous other stores(woolies, dominos, subway etc) within the University campus which makes it easier for students to have refreshments.

QUT is among the best campuses in Brisbane City. Best market driven courses, with small classes to guarantee quality and student teacher interaction. Buses are available to shuttle between the Kelvin Groove and SouthBank Campuses. Has a QUT app for students safety and bus shuttle time confirmations. Modern library, wifi connectivity with single logon across campuses. Best place for international students.

My school is right next to this place, i walk past here everyday of the week (not including weekends) and its a nice place. Very grand, quiet, I always see different activities happening and they always have stalls for like open days I guess. I also see many groups of people walking to the library, or sitting down and talking about life. (P.S. There are many pokemons here) haha

  • Brent Gesch

The worst uni experience I’ve ever witnessed. My poor partner struggled for 3 years in her nursing degree. No help from lectures, no help from advice teams. All automated replies. Old policy’s that they have obviously had for years that need updating. It’s like they want students to fail. Disgraceful. Just cause they are a big uni, don’t assume they are the best

  • Alison Grieve

I'm disappointed! My daughter goes here, after some difficulties with modules, we have found there is NO help or support from QUT. She has tried repeatedly to contact Services, and was told to work it out for herself. After doing 2.5 years of study you think they would be more helpful! She is doing ok, but is struggling without the information!

  • Mike

The sport facilities definitely need a proper management. Lots of useless bureaucracy and paper work resulting in losing their customers and leaving the venue with lots of empty booking slots. Then how will you expect the university to teach students management or other courses while they cannot manage their own departments efficiently.

  • Josh G

Awful University!! This University deserves to have zero stars! Avoid QUT completely, no support & terrible facilities! They will not acknowledge my Mental & Physical Health Conditions which has prevented me to study for life. QUT has refused to accept my appeal for Withdraw without academic/financial penalty. QUT is inhumane!!

This is the campus I studied at QUT, Australia. In the picture, you see is A Block where the Faculty of Education is located; especially most senior academics and officials are there. There is block B next which is also our Faculty. This picture is taken when I was going out of the Canteen towards our Faculty.

  • Martin Witchard

A great small campus built with a village (aka shopping and eating) centre. A range of student accommodation options, a good library and a pleasant, leafy location make this area enjoyable to stroll around. Also has very good transport links to the city and to the north and north west suburbs.

  • Chloe

I graduated at qut with a master degree in Human resource in 2017. I am miss being a student at QUT. It was my amazing 2 years and can’t even think of how grateful the experience I gained from QUT. I was living in KG campus when I was doing my degree, QUT shuttle bus makes my life earlier.

  • Joey

Very busy place, students and people always walking around! especially since theres many stores in the middle of the campus, a lot of non-students walking around. some blocks are very spread out and far away from each other, having to walk to them is a pain if you miss the campus bus.

  • Dylan Waller

Doing my second bridging course here. Loving it. Never a bad experience. I cannot wait for the new pump track in the park next door to it. I really wish I could do my next course here but unfortunately i am moving down the coast. Highly recommend this uni. Friendly security too.

  • Dan Davis (DansTubeTV)

The Kelvin Grove Campus is well maintained. There are adequate amenities and the University prides itself on offering a mixture of theory and practical elements. The Masters of Counselling degree is extremely engaging and the experience has been invaluable.

  • Jonathan Emms

Soooo many problems at QUT, they're not even trying to improve in any areas students are regularly complaining about. So much I didn't know when I started that with hindsight I would have gone with a different university if I had known.

  • Sebastian Thomson

When I first started the Bachelor of Social Work Degree, I felt excited to take my education to the next level by using my diploma for entry. When time rolled on, things began to go downhill amidst the intense COVID lockdowns, virtual

  • Kate

I don’t know a single person who has been to QUT who wasn’t screwed over by them. The lack of respect and care for students is disgusting, it is clear QUT only cares about making money not about providing quality education

  • R.E. View

Do they still have that Visual Arts/Education lecturer there? You know ... mouth full of stone fruit, repeatedly referred to kids that 'should have been microwaved at birth'? QUT's naughty little secret?

  • Dream Lifestyle

Beautiful campus, clean and tidy. Parking is an issue here but there is a bus stop near the campus that goes to City, Chermside, Carseldine, Aspley, McDowall, Ashgrove, Albany Creek and Mitchelton

  • Rahul Jayasinghe

I’m a student currently enrolled in qutic and I have to say qut is one of the best unis in Queensland, beautiful campuses good teachers, overall a great atmosphere, Love QUT!!!

  • Mitch Solomon

The main use of the KG Campus is as a spot to park your car so you catch the shuttle to the far superior Gardens Point Campus, in that regard the KG Campus is great.

  • Thomas N Wyndham

It’s a very pretty campus, however not a great place to be on a Sunday with diarrhoea, when all the toilets are locked, except for one that has no toilet paper.

  • Park Younghee

Nice friendly area, many options for foods and cafes, Woolworths, health clinics, great campus, ...you can sort out pretty much everything here.

  • A Hall

Friendly enough, bit dark, hot & humid in the underground carpark though (after heavy rain). Ok for appointments...street parking is not good.

  • Kath Angus

You can learn stuff here which is good because the growing suppository that prevails on earth is disturbing. Also, there is good banh mi.

  • Ethan Schomberg

The sporting facilities are incredible, the class rooms are not as good as at Gardens Point Campus, but still an incredible uni

  • Smiley Mcpherson

Every days a learning day and I guess it can't get much better than at QUT. Great facilities in such a spectacular location.

  • James

Not recommend for international students, especially for nursing. Better go to other uni if u need to pass the units.
